Electroacupuncture with different waveforms for primary dysmenorrhea: A randomized controlled trial

Objective: To observe and compare the clinical effects of different electroacupuncture waveforms on primary dysmenorrhea. Methods: This was a prospective, randomized, three-group, parallel-controlled trial. Participants with primary dysmenorrhea were randomly divided into dense-sparse wave, continuous wave, and discontinuous wave groups in a 1:1:1 ratio. Two lateral Ciliao (BL 32) points were used. All three groups started treatment 3–5 days before menstruation, once a day for six.sessions per course of treatment, one course of treatment per menstrual cycle, and three menstrual cycles. The primary outcome measure was the proportion with an average visual analog scale (VAS) score reduction of ≥50% from baseline for dysmenorrhea in the third menstrual cycle during treatment. The secondary outcome measures included changes in dysmenorrhea VAS scores, Cox.Menstrual Symptom Scale scores and the proportion of patients taking analgesic drugs. Results: The proportion of cases where the average VAS score for dysmenorrhea decreased by ≥50% from baseline in the third menstrual cycle was not statistically significant (P > .05). Precisely 30 min after acupuncture and regarding immediate analgesia on the most severe day of dysmenorrhea, there was a statistically significant difference in the dense-sparse wave group compared with the other two groups during the third menstrual cycle (P < .05). Additionally, there was a statistically significant difference between the dense-sparse wave and discontinuous wave groups 24 h after acupuncture (P < .05). Conclusions: Waveform electroacupuncture can alleviate primary dysmenorrhea and its related symptoms in patients. The three groups showed similar results in terms of short- and long-term analgesic efficacy and a reduction in the number of patients taking analgesic drugs. Regarding achieving immediate analgesia, the dense-sparse wave group was slightly better than the other two groups. © 2024 Beijing University of Chinese Medicine

Rural map services are important measure to bridge the gap in rural geographic information by leveraging data elements and technological advantages in the current surveying and mapping geographic information industry, supporting high-quality development and serving rural revitalization. This article analyzes the current status of rural map services, starting from the proposes practical methods for serving the goals of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, content design, visual ex.ression from the functional requirements of rural maps, and starting from the requirement of function, proposes practical methods from serving the goals of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, content design, visual ex.ression, and provides practical method and technical suggestion on using of multi-source data, symbol annotation design, and thematic map design in the preparation of rural basic maps. © 2024 Editorial Board of Medical Journal of wuhan University. SHORT FATIGUE CRACK PARAMETER BASED ON THE TOTAL CRACK AREA

The progressive fatigue damage of a material is closely related to the whole population of cracks on its surface. In order to understand which parameter is a more useful indicator of fatigue damage, rotatory bending fatigue tests were carried out using smooth specimens of medium-carbon steel. The behavior of short crack propagation during fatigue was ex.mined and a new parameter total crack area was suggested. The aim of this paper is to ex.end the research on fatigue damage in the already studied steel and to study how these damage parameters are correlated with the process of fatigue damage in order to evaluate the effectiveness of damage detection methods.

Transmission restriction and genomic evolution co-shape the genetic diversity patterns of influenza A virus

Influenza A virus (IAV) shows an ex.ensive host range and rapid genomic variations, leading to continuous emergence of novel viruses with significant antigenic variations and the potential for cross-species transmission. This causes global pandemics and seasonal flu outbreaks, posing sustained threats worldwide. Thus, studying all IAVs' evolutionary patterns and underlying mechanisms is crucial for effective prevention and control. We developed FluTyping to identify IAV genotypes, to ex.lore overall genetic diversity patterns and their restriction factors. FluTyping groups isolates based on genetic distance and phylogenetic relationships using whole genomes, enabling identification of each isolate's genotype. Three distinct genetic diversity patterns were observed: one genotype domination pattern comprising only H1N1 and H3N2 seasonal influenza subtypes, multi-genotypes co-circulation pattern including majority avian influenza subtypes and swine influenza H1N2, and hybrid-circulation pattern involving H7N9 and three H5 subtypes of influenza viruses. Furthermore, the IAVs in multi-genotypes co-circulation pattern showed region-specific dominant genotypes, implying the restriction of virus transmission is a key factor contributing to distinct genetic diversity patterns, and the genomic evolution underlying different patterns was more influenced by host-specific factors. In summary, a comprehensive picture of the evolutionary patterns of overall IAVs is provided by the FluTyping's identified genotypes, offering important theoretical foundations for future prevention and control of these viruses. © 2024 The Authors

Mo SILTCIDE SYNTHISIS BY DUAL ION BEAM DEPOSITION

Mo silicides Mo_5Si_3 with high quality were prepared using ion beamdeposition equipment with two Filter Metal Vacuum Are Deposition (FMEVAD). When the number ofalternant deposition times was 198, total thickness of the coating is 40nm. The coatings withdroplet free can be readily obtained, so the surface is smooth. TEM observation shows that Mo and Sialternant deposition coating is compact structure. The fine Mo silicide grains densely distributedin the coating. The coating adherence on silicon is ex.ellent.

Ginger oil-loaded transdermal adhesive patch treats post-traumatic stress disorder

Objective: To find a viable alternative to reduce the number of doses required for the patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and to improve efficacy and patient compliance. Methods: In this study, we used ginger oil, a phytochemical with potential therapeutic properties, to prepare ginger oil patches. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used to quantify the main active component of ginger oil, 6-gingerol. Transdermal absorption ex.eriments were conducted to optimize the various pressure-sensitive adhesives and permeation enhancers, including their type and concentration. Subsequently, the ginger oil patches were optimized and subjected to content determination and property evaluations. A PTSD mouse model was established using the foot-shock method. The therapeutic effect of ginger oil patches on PTSD was assessed through pathological sections, behavioral tests, and the evaluation of biomarkers such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and melatonin (MT). Results: The results demonstrated that ginger oil patches ex.rted therapeutic effects against PTSD by inhibiting inflammatory responses and modulating MT and BDNF levels. Pharmacokinetic ex.eriments revealed that ginger oil patches maintained a stable blood drug concentration for at least one day, addressing the rapid metabolism drawback of 6-gingerol and enhancing its therapeutic efficacy. Conclusions: Ginger oil can be prepared as a transdermal drug patch that meets these requirements, and the bioavailability of the prepared patch is better than that of oral administration. It can improve PTSD with good patient compliance and ease of administration. Therefore, it is a promising therapeutic formulation for the treatment of PTSD. © 2024 Beijing University of Chinese Medicine

A serial resonant antenna for the large field of view（FOV） magnetic resonance imaging（MRI） is presented. It is composed of a microstrip line with the signal line loaded by lumped capacitors periodically. At the resonant frequency,uniformly distributed current with zero phase delay is produced independent of the antenna length,hence a uniform magnetic field for large FOV MRI can be achieved. The numerical modeling,physical fabrication and measurement,as well as the phantom imaging are carried out to characterize the proposed antenna for MRI.

AIMP2 restricts EV71 replication by recruiting SMURF2 to promote the degradation of 3D polymerase

Hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), mainly caused by enterovirus 71 (EV71), has frequently occurred in the Asia-Pacific region, posing a significant threat to the health of infants and young children. Therefore, research on the infection mechanism and pathogenicity of enteroviruses is increasingly becoming important. The 3D polymerase, as the most critical RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) for EV71 replication, is widely targeted to inhibit EV71 infection. In this study, we identified a novel host protein, AIMP2, capable of binding to 3D polymerase and inhibiting EV71 infection. Subsequent investigations revealed that AIMP2 recruits the E3 ligase SMURF2, which mediates the polyubiquitination and degradation of 3D polymerase. Furthermore, the antiviral effect of AIMP2 ex.ended to the CVA16 and CVB1 serotypes. Our research has uncovered the dynamic regulatory function of AIMP2 during EV71 infection, revealing a novel antiviral mechanism and providing new insights for the development of antienteroviral therapeutic strategies. © 2024 The Authors
