Quantifying the 2022 drought and spatiotemporal evolution of TWSA in the Dongting Lake Basin over the past two decades

Extreme hydrological events such as droughts and floods have been increasingly influenced by abnormal atmospheric disturbances caused by human activity and global *** Dongting Lake Basin(DLB)has experienced challenging circumstances over the past 20 years due to complex climatic variations,leading to extreme flooding and *** study aims to investigate the spatiotemporal variation in terrestrial water storage anomalies(TWSA)over the DLB using data from the GRACE/GRACE-FO and GLDAS spanning the latest two decades.A significant decline trend in TWSA is unveiled from July 2019 to May 2023,with the rate of change determined as-1.94 cm/year and-1.99 cm/year based on the GRACE/GRACE-FO and GLDAS,*** GRACE-Drought Severity Index(DSI)is employed to identify and evaluate the severity and spatiotemporal evolution of the 2022 drought event in the *** results accurately capture the drought event,which began in July 2022 and continued until March 2023,with the most severe conditions occurring in October 2022,when the GRACE-DSI value stood at-2.06 and the TWSA decreased by 15.24 cm and 33.51 cm relative to the same month in 2021 and 2020,***,the daily water level variation at the chenglingji hydrological gauging station in 2022 broke previous records,reaching a minimum of only 19 *** the 2022 drought event with the drought events in 2006 and 2011,the impact of drought on vegetation growth conditions was relatively small,but there was still significant vegetation degradation across the DLB.

Spinel MnCo_(2)O_(4) is a promising energy storage candidate as anode materials in lithium-ion batteries owing to synergistic effects of two intrinsic solid-state redox ***,low conductivity,poor rate capacity and rapid capacity fading have seriously impaired its practical *** overcome the inferiorities,urchin-like MnCo_(2)O_(4)@C core–shell nanowire arrays have been fabricated directly within a porous copper current collector via a facile hydrothermal method followed by a chemical vapor deposition carbonization *** a typical nanowire,the core is composed of interconnected MnCo_(2)O_(4)nanoparticles and the shell shows as a thin amorphous carbon *** integrated MnCo_(2)O_(4)@C/Cu structure could act as working anodes without using additives or polymer *** MnCo_(2)O_(4)@C/Cu possesses slightly longer Li-ion insertion/desertion pathway than that of MnCo_(2)O_(4)/Cu,the carbon shell could effectively prevent the pulverization of MnCo_(2)O_(4) and lower down charge transfer resistance and actively participate in Li-ion *** rearrangement of carbon atoms during lithiation/delithiation cycling could inhibit the formation of passive solid electrolyte interphase *** a result,the MnCo_(2)O_(4)@C/Cu electrode presents superior rate capacity(600 mAh·g^(−1) at 1 A·g^(−1)) and better stability(797 mAh·g^(−1) after 200 cycles at 100 mA·g^(−1)).The excellent reversible Li ion storage capacity,cycling stability and rate capacity endow MnCo_(2)O_(4)@C/Cu great potential as stable and high output integrated anode materials in Li-ion batteries.

Chlorfenapyr is a broad-spectrum halogenated pyrrole insecticide with a unique mode of *** to the misuse and overuse of this chemical,resistance has been reported in several arthropods,including Plutella xylostella,which is one of the most destructive insect pests afflicting crucifers worldwide.A better understanding of the cross-resistance and genetics of field-evolved chlorfenapyr resistance could effectively guide resistance management ***,the chlorfenapyr resistance of a fieldderived population of P xylostella was introgressed into the susceptible IPP-S strain using a selection-assisted multigenerational backcrossing *** constructed nearisogenic strain,TH-BCsF2,shared 98.4%genetic background with the recurrent parent IPP-S *** TH-BCsF2 strain showed 275-fold resistance to chlorfenapyr,but no significant cross-resistance to spinosad,abamectin,chlorpyrifos,β-cypermethrin,indoxacarb,chlorantraniliprole,or broflanilide(no more than 4.2-fold).Genetic analysis revealed that resistance was autosomal,incompletely dominant,and conferred by 1 major gene or a few tightly linked *** synergism of metabolic inhibitors(PBO,DEM,and DEF)to chlorfenapyr was very weak(<1.7-fold),and the metabolic enzyme activities in the TH-BCsF2 strain were not significantly elevated compared with the IPP-S *** results enhances our understanding of the genetic traits of chlorfenapyr resistance,and provides essential information for improving resistance management strategies.

The lateral parabrachial nucleus(PBL)is implicated in the regulation of respiratory *** leak channel(NALCN)mutations disrupt the respiratory rhythm and influence anesthetic sensitivity in both rodents and ***,we investigated whether the NALCN in PBL glutamatergic neurons maintains respiratory function under general *** results showed that chemogenetic activation of PBL glutamatergic neurons increased the respiratory frequency(RF)in mice;whereas chemogenetic inhibition suppressed *** knockdown in PBL glutamatergic neurons but not GABAergic neurons significantly reduced RF under physiological conditions and caused more respiratory suppression under sevoflurane *** knockdown in PBL glutamatergic neurons did not further exacerbate the respiratory suppression induced by propofol or *** sevoflurane anesthesia,painful stimuli rapidly increased the RF,which was not affected by NALCN knockdown in PBL glutamatergic *** study suggested that the NALCN is a key ion channel in PBL glutamatergic neurons that maintains respiratory frequency under volatile anesthetic sevoflurane but not intravenous anesthetic propofol.

Flower-like copper foam Co_(3)O_(4) catalysts(Co_(3)O_(4)/CF) were prepared by hydrothermal *** crystalline structure and microscopic morphology of the prepared samples were characterized by using X-ray diffractometer(XRD) and scanning electron microscope(SEM),and the electrochemical properties were investigated by an electrochemical *** experimental results show that the Co_(3)O_(4) catalysts are successfully prepared on the foamed copper support by hydrothermal method,and the material’s morphology is mainly flower *** the current density is 10 mA·cm^(-2),the overpotential value of the Co_(3)O_(4)/CF catalyst is 141 mV,lower than that of blank *** electrochemical impedance(EIS) spectrum shows that the R_(ct )value of the Co_(3)O_(4)/CF catalyst decreases,and the Coulomb curves of double-layer show that the electrochemically active area of the Co_(3)O_(4)/CF catalyst efficiently increases compared with that of the blank ***,the as-obtained Co_(3)O_(4)/CF catalyst exhibits a good hydrogen evolution rate,showing great applicability potential in the catalytic electrolysis of water for hydrogen production.

This paper proposes a new global fixed-time sliding mode control strategy for the trajectory tracking control of uncertain robotic ***,a fixed-time disturbance observer(FTDO) is designed to deal with the adverse effects of model uncertainties and external disturbances in the manipulator *** an adaptive scheme is used and the adaptive FTDO(AFTDO) is developed,so that the priori knowledge of the lumped disturbance is not ***,a new non-singular fast terminal sliding mode(NFTSM) surface is designed by using an arctan function,which helps to overcome the singularity problem and enhance the robustness of the *** on the estimation of the lumped disturbance by the AFTDO,a fixed-time non-singular fast terminal sliding mode controller(FTNFTSMC)is developed to guarantee the trajectory tracking errors converge to zero within a fixed *** settling time is independent of the initial state of the *** addition,the stability of the AFTDO and FTNFTSMC is strictly proved by using Lyapunov ***,the fixed-time NFESM(FTNFTSM) algorithm is validated on a 2-link manipulator and comparisons with other existing sliding mode controllers(SMCs) are *** comparative results confirm that the FTNFTSMC has superior control performance.

In the staged multi-cluster fracturing of shale gas horizontal wells, ball sealers are used to ensure uniform fluid distribution among clusters, a strategy that is both cost-effective and operationally beneficial. Despite these advantages, comprehending the ball sealers' dynamics within the wellbore and their plugging behavior at perforations is still challenging. This complexity results in prediction difficulties regarding their diversion efficiency. To address this, our study utilized a semi-resolved CFD-DEM model based on kernel approximation to simulate the behavior of medium-sized ball sealers in single and multiple cluster scenarios. Our findings from a single cluster scenario reveal that the plugging probability is co-determined by velocity gradients in the fluid ingestion area near the perforation, backflow region, and inertial forces of the ball sealers. As the critical flow rate is achieved, the plugging probability negatively correlated with fluid viscosity and displacement, and positively correlated with the perforation flow ratio (PFR), the difference in particle-fluid density, ball sealer’s diameter, and the ball sealer’s offset from the pipeline center. Temporary plugging control efficiency was used to evaluate the flow balance effect among multiple clusters. The results indicate that an increased number of ball sealers enhances the fault tolerance during the temporary plugging process. Nevertheless, excessive ball sealers might undermine the temporary plugging control efficiency, as perforations with lower fluid inflow rates are unexpectedly plugging. Higher differences in fluid injection rates between clusters led to increased efficiency in temporary plugging control. Premature deployment of ball sealers cannot effectively plug perforations with marginally higher fluid inflow rates, but instead accidently plug intermediate clusters with lower fluid inflow rates. These findings offer a theoretical basis for optimizing the design of ball sealers.

Lake ecosystems confront escalating challenges to their stability and resilience,most intuitively leading to biodiversity loss,necessitating effective preservation strategies to safeguard aquatic ***,the complexity of ecological processes governing lake biodiversity under multi-stressor interactions remains an ongoing concern,primarily due to insufficient long-term bioindicator data,particularly concerning macroinvertebrate *** we utilize a unique,continuous,and in situ biomonitoring dataset spanning from 2011 to 2019 to investigate the spatio-temporal variation of macroinvertebrate *** assess the impact of four crucial environmental parameters on Lake Dongting and Lake Taihu,i.e.,water quality,hydrology,climate change,and land *** two systems are representative of lakes with Yangtze-connected and disconnected subtropical floodplains in *** find an alarming trend of declining taxonomic and functional diversities among macroinvertebrate communities despite improvements in water *** contributing factors to this decline include persistent anthropogenic pressures,particularly alterations in human land use around the lakes,including intensified nutrient loads and reduced habitat ***,river-lake connectivity is pivotal in shaping differential responses to multiple *** results highlight a strong correlation between biodiversity alterations and land use within a 2e5 km radius and 0.05e2.5 km from the shorelines of Lakes Dongting and Taihu,*** findings highlight the importance of implementing land buffer zones with specific spatial scales to enhance taxonomic and functional diversity,securing essential ecosystem services and enhancing the resilience of crucial lake ecosystems.
