Zinc ion hybrid capacitors(ZIHCs), which integrate the features of the high power of supercapacitors and the high energy of zinc ion batteries, are promising competitors in future electrochemical energy storage applications. Carbon-based materials are deemed the competitive candidates for cathodes of ZIHC due to their cost-effectiveness, high electronic conductivity, chemical inertness, controllable surface states, and tunable pore architectures. In recent years, great research efforts have been devoted to further improving the energy density and cycling stability of ZIHCs. Reasonable modification and optimization of carbon-based materials offer a remedy for these challenges. In this review, the structural design, and electrochemical properties of carbon-based cathode materials with different dimensions, as well as the selection of compatible, robust current collectors and separators for ZIHCs are discussed. The challenges and prospects of ZIHCs are showcased to guide the innovative development of carbon-based cathode materials and the development of novel ZIHCs.

Supercapacitors(SCs)have attracted extensive attention due to their ultrahigh power density,fast charging/discharging rate,excellent electrochemical stability and environmental ***,the main commercial electrode materials for SCs are carbon materials in term of low cost,excellent conductivity,large specific surface area and good electrochemical ***,various dimensional carbon materials including zero dimensional(0D)carbon materials(nanosphere,dot etc.),1D carbon materials(nanotube,nanofiber etc.),2D carbon materials(nanosheet)as well as 3D carbon materials have been developed for *** materials with different spatial dimensions have their unique properties when used as the electrode materials for *** this review,recent advances in the fabrication of different dimensional carbons for SCs are *** key issues for enhancing the electrochemical properties of carbon-based SCs and some mutual relationships among various influence parameters are reviewed,and challenges and perspectives in this field are also discussed.

One-step synthesis of biomass derived O, N-codoped hierarchical porous carbon with high surface area for supercapacitors

We report a convenient method to synthesize O,N-codoped hierarchical porous carbon by one-step carbonization of the mixture of KHCO3,urea and alginic *** from KHCO3 and urea syne rgistic effect,the obtained O,N-codoped hierarchical porous carbon(NPC-700) material has a well-developed interconnected porous framework with ultrahigh specific surface area(2846 m2/g) and massive heteroatoms functional ***,such porous carbon displays high specific capacitance(324 F/g at 1 A/g),excellent rate performance(212 F/g at 30 A/g) and good electrochemical stabilization in 6 mol/L KOH *** importantly,the assembled NPC-700//NPC-700 symmetrical supercapacitor can achieve a high energy density of 18.8 Wh/kg and good electrochemical stabilization in 1 mol/L Na2SO4 *** process opens up a new way to design heteroatoms-doped hierarchical porous carbon derived from biomass materials for supercapacitors.

An approximation algorithm for lower-bounded k-median with constant factor

The lower-bounded k-median problem plays a key role in many applications related to privacy protection, which requires that the amount of assigned client to each facility should not be less than the requirement. Unfortunately, the lower-bounded clustering problem remains elusive under the widely studied k-median objective. Within this paper, we convert this problem to the capacitated facility location problem and successfully give a(516+ε)-approximation for this problem.

Potential application of particle based simulations in reservoir security management

In order to model the movement progress in case of risks such as dam collapse and coastal inundation, particle-based simulation methods, including the discrete-element method and smoothed particle hydrodynamics, which have specific advantages in modeling complex three-dimensional environmental fluid and particulate flows, are adopted as an effective way to illustrate environmental applications possibly happening in the real world. The theory of these methods and their relative advantages compared with traditional methods are discussed. Examples of 3-D flows on realistic topography including the flooding of a river valley as a result of a dam collapse and coastal inundation by a tsunami are introduced. Issues related to validation and quality data availability are also discussed. The results show that the simulations provide a valuable insight in a given situation for the security management of reservoir dams. Validation can only be performed where both the initial and final states can be very well characterized.

Supercapacitors(SCs)are considered promising energy storge systems because of their outstanding power density,fast charge and discharge rate and long-term cycling *** exploitation of cheap and efficient electrode materials is the key to improve the performance of *** the battery-type materials,transition metal phosphides(TMPs)possess high theoretical specific capacity,good electrical conductivity and superior structural stability,which have been extensively studied to be electrode materials for *** this review,we summarize the up-to-date progress on TMPs materials from diversified synthetic methods,diverse nanostructures and several prominent TMPs and their composites in application of *** the end,we also propose the remaining challenges toward the rational discovery and synthesis of high-performance TMP electrodes materials for energy storage.

Degradation of carbon tetrachloride in thermally activated persulfate system in the presence of formic acid

The thermally activated persulfate （PS） degradation of carbon tetrachloride （CT） in the presence of formic acid （FA） was investigated. The results indicated that CT degradation followed a zero order kinetic model, and CO2^- was responsible for the degradation of CT confirmed by radical scavenger tests. CT degradation rate increased with increasing PS or FA dosage, and the initial CT had no effect on CT degradation rate. However, the initial solution pH had effect on the degradation of CT, and the best CT degradation occurred at initial pH 6. Cl^- had a negative effect on CT degradation, and high concentration of Cl^- displayed much strong inhibition. Ten mmol·L^-1HCO3^- promoted CT degradation, while 100mmol·L^-1NO3^- inhibited the degradation of CT, but SO4^2- promoted CT degradation in the presence of FA. The measured Cl^- concentration released into solution along with CT degradation was 75.8% of the total theoretical dechlorination yield, but no chlorinated intermediates were detected. The split of C-Cl was proposed as the possible reaction pathways in CT degradation. In conclusion, this study strongly demonstrated that the thermally activated PS system in the presence of FA is a promising technique in in situ chemical oxidation （ISCO） remediation for CT contaminated site.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of electroacupuncture(EA) on irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) in mice through regulating nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain protein-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 6(NLRP6).METHODS: Water-avoidance stress(WAS) mice model was used to investigate the effects and the mechanism of EA. Abdominal withdrawal reflex test, open field test, and intestinal motility test were used to evaluate visceral sensitivity, anxiety,and intestinal motility in mice. The expressions of NLRP6, Mucin-2(MUC2) and E-cadherin were determined using immunofluorescence and Western blotting ***: EA significantly upregulated the expression of NLRP6 in the intestine of mice. Moreover, EA increased the expressions of MUC2 and E-cadherin in WAS ***: Our study found that the relief of IBS symptoms by EA may involve the increase in the expression of NLRP6 in WAS mice.

Graphene-supported ultra-small Co_3O_4 nanoparticles for high-performance supercapacitors

Ultra-small Co_3O_4 nanoparticles/graphene hybrid material had been synthesized by a facile hydrothermal route and consequent calcination *** as-obtained ultra-small Co_3O_4 nanoparticles with their sizes of 5–8 nm are tightly anchored on the surface of graphene(GNS).Benefiting from the ultra-small size of Co_3O_4 nanoparticles,the high interconnectivity of hybrid material as well as the high conductive networks constructed by GNS,which can provide a fast and efficient transportation of electron and electrolyte ions for the overall electrode,the as-prepared hybrid material exhibits a high specific capacitance of 462 F·g^(-1) at 5 m V·s^(-1) compared with pure Co_3O_4(193 F·g^(-1)),and retained 88.2% of its initial capacitance after 2000 cycles,indicating a promising electrode material for supercapacitors.
