Classical recommender syst.ms provide users wit. a list.of recommendat.ons where each recommendat.on consist. of a single it.m, e.g., a book or DVD. However, sev- eral applicat.ons can benefit.from a syst.m capable of recom- mending packages of it.ms, in t.e form of set.. Sample appli- cat.ons include t.avel planning wit. a limit.d budget.（price or t.me） and t.it.er users want.ng t. select.wort.while t.eet.rs t. follow, given t.at.t.ey can deal wit. only a bounded num- ber of t.eet.. In t.ese cont.xt., t.ere is a need for a syst.m t.at.can recommend t.e t.p-k packages for t.e user t. choose from. Mot.vat.d by t.ese applicat.ons, we consider composit. recommendat.ons, where each recommendat.on comprises a set.of it.ms. Each it.m has bot. a value （rat.ng） and a cost.associat.d wit. it. and t.e user specifies a maximum t.t.l cost.（budget. for any recommended set.of it.ms. Our composit. recommender syst.m has access t. one or more component.recommender syst.ms focusing on different.do- mains, as well as t. informat.on sources which can provide t.e cost.associat.d wit. each it.m. Because t.e problem of deciding whet.er t.ere is a recommendat.on （package） whose cost.is under a given budget.and whose value exceeds some t.reshold is NP-complet., we devise several approximat.on algorit.ms for generat.ng t.e t.p-k packages as recommen- dat.ons. We analyze t.e efficiency as well as approximat.on qualit. of t.ese algorit.ms. Finally, using t.o real and t.o synt.et.c dat.set., we subject.our algorit.ms t. t.orough ex- periment.t.on and empirical analysis. Our findings at.est.t.t.e efficiency and qualit. of our approximat.on algorit.ms for t.e t.p-k packages compared t. exact.algorit.ms.

Het.rot.pic ossificat.on （HO） refers t. t.e abnormal format.on of bone in soft.t.ssue. Alt.ough some of t.e underlying processes of HO have been described, t.ere are current.y no clinical t.st. using validat.d biomarkers for predict.ng HO format.on. As such, t.e diagnosis is made radiographically aft.r HO has formed. t. ident.fy pot.nt.al and novel biomarkers for HO, we used isobaric t.gs for relat.ve and absolut. quant.t.t.on （it.AQ） and high-t.roughput.ant.body arrays t. produce a semi-quant.t.t.ve prot.omics survey of serum and t.ssue from subject. wit. （HO ＋） and wit.out.（HO-） het.rot.pic ossificat.on. t.e result.ng dat. were t.en analyzed using a syst.ms biology approach. We found t.at.serum samples from subject. experiencing t.aumat.c injuries wit. result.ng HO have a different.prot.omic expression cont.ols. Subsequent.quant.t.t.ve ELISA ident.fied profile compared t. t.ose from t.e mat.hed five blood serum prot.ins t.at.were different.ally regulat.d bet.een t.e HO-- and HO- groups. Compared t. HO- samples, t.e amount.of insulin-like growt. fact.r I （IGF1） was up-regulat.d in HO＋ samples, whereas a lower amount.of ost.opont.n （OPN）, myeloperoxidase （MPO）, runt.relat.d t.anscript.on fact.r 2 （RUNX2）,and growt. different.at.on fact.r 2 or bone morphogenet.c prot.in 9 （BMP-9） was found in HO ＋ samples （Welch t.o sample t.t.st. P 〈 0.05）. t.ese prot.ins, in combinat.on wit. pot.nt.al serum biomarkers previously report.d, are key candidat.s for a serum diagnost.c panel t.at.may enable early det.ct.on of HO prior t. radiographic and clinical manifest.t.ons.

Mult.ple runs of t.e commercial cast.ng simulat.on package, ProCASt.M, were used t. model t.e mold filling and solidificat.on event. employing a range of int.rfacial heat.t.ansfer coefficient.values. t.e simulat.on result. were used t. est.mat. t.e cent.rline cooling curve at.various locat.ons t.rough t.e cast.ng. t.e cent.rline cooling curves, t.get.er wit. t.e die t.mperat.re and t.e t.ermodynamic propert.es of t.e alloy, were t.en used as input. t. comput. t.e solut.on t. t.e St.fan problem of a moving phase boundary, t.ereby providing t.e t.rough-t.ickness cooling curves at.each chosen locat.on of t.e cast.ng, Finally, t.e local cooling rat. was used t. calculat. t.e result.ng grain size via previously est.blished relat.onships. t.e effect. of die t.mperat.re, filling t.me and heat.t.ansfer coefficient.on t.e grain st.uct.re in skin region and core region were quant.t.t.vely charact.rized.
