Inspired by erythrocytes that contain oxygen-carrying hemoglobin(Hb)and that exhibit photo-driven activity,we introduce homogenous-sized erythrocyte-like Hb microgel(μGel)systems(5-6μm)that can(i)emit heat,(ii)supply oxygen,and(iii)generate reactive oxygen species(ROS;1O2)in response to near-infrared(NIR)laser *** μGels consist of Hb,bovine serum albumin(BSA),chlorin e6(Ce6)and erbium@lutetium upconverting nanoparticles(UCNPs;~35 nm)that effectively convert 808 nm NIR light to 660 nm visible *** Hb μGels are capable of releasing oxygen to help generate sufficient reactive oxygen species(^(1)O_(2))from UCNPs/Ce6 under severely hypoxic condition upon NIR stimulation for efficient photodynamic ***,the Hb μGels emit heat and increase surface temperature due to NIR light absorption by heme(iron protoporphyrin IX)and display photothermal *** changing the Hb/UCNP/Ce6 ratio and controlling the amount of NIR laser irradiation,it is possible to formulate bespoke Hb μGels with either photothermal or photodynamic activity or both in the context of combined therapeutic *** Hb μGels effectively suppress highly hypoxic 4T1 cell spheroid growth and xenograft mice tumors in vivo.

Plant cells have two endosymbiotic organelles,chloroplasts,and *** organelles perform specific functions that depend on organelle-specific *** majority of chloroplast and mitochondrial proteins are specifically imported by the transit peptide and presequence,***,a significant number of proteins are also dually targeted to these two ***,it is not fully understood how proteins are dually targeted to both chloroplasts and *** this study,the mechanism underlying mitochondrial targeting of dual targeting At Suf E1 in Arabidopsis was *** N-terminal fragment containing 80 residues of AtSufE1(AtSufE1N80)was sufficient to confer dual targeting of reporter protein,At SufE1N80:GFP,in *** sequence motifs,two arginine residues at 15and 21positions,and amino acid(aa)sequence motif AKTLLLRPLK from the 31to 40aa position,were responsible for targeting to mitochondria a portion of reporter proteins amid the chloroplast *** sequence motif PSEVPFRRT from the 41 stto 50 thaa position constitutes a common motif for targeting to both chloroplasts and *** mitochondrial import of At Suf E1:N80,Metaxin played a critical *** addition,Bi FC and protein pull-down experiments showed that At Suf E1N80 specifically interacts with import receptors,Metaxin and *** interaction of At Suf E1N80 with Metaxin was required for the interaction with *** on these results,we propose that mitochondrial targeting of dual-targeting At Suf E1 is mediated by both mitochondria-specific and common sequence motifs in the signal sequence through the interaction with import receptors,Metaxin and Tom20,in a successive manner.

The intestinal microbiota has gained increased attention from researchers within the swine industry due to its role in promoting intestinal maturation,immune system modulation,and consequently the enhancement of the health and growth performance of the *** review aimed to provide updated scientific information on the interaction among intestinal microbiota,dietary components,and intestinal health of *** small intestine is a key site to evaluate the interaction of the microbiota,diet,and host because it is the main site for digestion and absorption of nutrients and plays an important role within the immune *** diet and its associated components such as feed additives are the main factors affecting the microbial composition and is central in stimulating a beneficial population of *** microbiotaehost interaction modulates the immune system,and,concurrently,the immune system helps to modulate the microbiota *** direct interaction between the microbiota and the host is an indication that the mucosa-associated microbiota can be more effective in evaluating its effect on health *** was demonstrated that the mucosa-associated microbiota should be evaluated when analyzing the interaction among diets,microbiota,and *** addition,supplementation of feed additives aimed to promote the intestinal health of pigs should consider their roles in the modulation of mucosa-associated microbiota as biomarkers to predict the response of growth performance to dietary interventions.

In this study,single-phase NbTiZr and NbTiZr(MoTa)_(0.1) medium-entropy alloys(MEAs)were investigated for their use in biomedical *** alloys were prepared by arc melting,and were then cold-rolled,annealed,and characterized in terms of phase analysis,mechanical properties,fractography,and wear *** alloys showed a single body-centered cubic phase with superior mechanical,and tribological properties compared to commercially available biomedical *** and Ta-containing MEAs showed higher tensile yield strength(1060±18 MPa)and higher tensile ductility(~20%),thus overcoming the strength-ductility trade-off with no signs of transformation-induced plasticity,twinning,or *** generalized stacking fault energy(GSFE)calculations on the{112}slip system by the first-principles calculations based on density functional theory showed that the addition of less than0.2 molar fraction of Mo and Ta lowers the GSFE *** behavior posits the increase in ductility of the alloy by facilitating slips although strength is also increased by solid solution *** wear resistance of both alloys against hardened steel surfaces was superior to that of commercial biomedical ***,we concluded that NbTiZr(MoTa)_(0.1)MEA with good tensile ductility is a potential candidate for biomedical implants.

Organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs)have demonstrated remarkable advancements in both device lifetime and luminous ***,insufficient operation lifetime due to device degradation remains a major hurdle,especially for brighter *** the degradation mechanisms of OLEDs due to the degradation of functional materials and the formation of defects in device architectures continues to be a significant ***,we evaluate the degradation characteristics by scrutinizing the electrical and optical properties,as well as analyzing the charge carrier dynamics in pristine and aged states of phosphorescent OLEDs(PhOLEDs).We show that degradation mechanisms in PhOLEDs can be elucidated in terms of the ideality factors of current and luminance in pristine and aged device *** consistent shifts in distinct ideality factors across various states points out that the device degradation is attributed to the deterioration of the guest material,***-light-emitting phosphorescent ***,the incongruity in ideality factor changes between the two states indicates that the degradation results from the deterioration of non-light-emitting *** characterization experiments provide further evidence that this degradation is primarily attributed to the deterioration of CBP-host *** thorough understanding of degradation mechanisms established in this study can contribute to realizing the highly reliable PhOLEDs with a long lifetime.

The variation of the three-dimensional(3D)structure of the membrane electrode of a fuel cell during proton exchange cycling involves the corrosion/compaction of the carbon *** increasing degradation of the carbon structure continuously reduces the electrocatalytic performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEM-FCs).This phenomenon can be explained by performing 3D tomographic analysis at the ***,conventional tomographic approaches which present limited experimental feasibility,cannot perform such evaluation and have not provided sufficient structural information with statistical significance thus ***,a reliable methodology is required for the 3D geometrical evaluation of the carbon ***,we propose a segmented tomographic approach which employs pore network analysis that enables the visualization of the geometrical parameters corresponding to the porous carbon structure at a high *** approach can be utilized to evaluate the 3D structural degradation of the porous carbon structure after cycling in terms of local surface area,pore size distribution,and their 3D *** geometrical parameters of the carbon body were demonstrated to be substantially reduced owing to the cycling-induced *** information enables a deeper understanding of the degradation phenomenon of carbon supports and can contribute to the development of stable PEM-FC electrodes.

One-step apexification using mineral trioxide aggregate(MTA) has been reported as an alternative treatment modality with more benefits than the use of long-term calcium hydroxide for teeth with open ***,orthograde placement of MTA is a challenging procedure in terms of length *** case series describes the sequence of events following apical extrusion of MTA into the periapical area during a one-step apexification procedure for maxillary central incisor with an infected immature *** long-term observation revealed complete resolution of the periapical radiolucent lesion around the extruded *** cases revealed that direct contact with MTA had no negative effects on healing of the periapical ***,intentional MTA overfilling into the periapical lesion is not to be recommended.

A small amount of misch metal was added to Cu-Zn-Al alloy in order to study its effect on grain refinement,mechanical properties,phase transformation behavior and stabilization of *** is found that the addition of misch metal is very effective for reducing the grain *** coarse grains over 1 000 μm are refined to the size of 30 μm by the addition of 0.43%(mass fraction) misch *** grain size of thermo-mechanically treated alloys is barely affected by cold *** fracture strength and ductility increase significantly with the increase of misch metal content when tensile test is carried out below Mf ***,the fracture strength is larger in the case of post-quench ageing treatment than that in the case of direct quench ageing *** fracture mode is changed from transgranular brittle fracture to ductile fracture with void formation and coalescence by the addition of misch metal.

Development of Preliminary Design Program for Combustor of Regenerative Cooled Liquid Rocket Engine

An integrated program was established to design a combustor for a liquid rocket engine and to analyze regenerative cooling results on a preliminary design *** of burnt gas from a kerosene-LOx mixture in the combustor and rocket performance were calculated from CEA which is the code for the calculation of chemical *** heat transfer of regenerative cooling was analyzed by using SUPERTRAPP code for coolant properties and by one-dimensional correlations of the heat transfer coefficient from the combustor liner to the *** of the combustors of F-1 and RS-27A engines were designed from similar input data and the present results were compared to actual data for ***,the combustors of 30 tonf class,75 tonf class and 150 tonf class were designed from the required thrust,combustion chamber,exit pressure and mixture ratio of *** wall temperature,heat flux and pressure drop were calculated for heat transfer analysis of regenerative cooling using the profiles.
