cerebrovascular disease of genetic origin characterized by abnormally dilated capillaries and a wide spectrum of symptoms,including headaches,seizures,neurological deficits,and intracerebral *** unpredictable clinical course and the current lack of therapies make the identification of prognostic and predictive biomarkers an imperative research challenge.1 Herein,we provide evidence that galectin-3(Gal-3),a major tissue and circulating biomarker of oxidative stress and inflammation,is significantly up-regulated both in CCM patients and ***,wholetranscriptome sequencing,qRT-PCR,and Western blotting studies demonstrated a significant up-regulation of Gal-3 expression levels both in surgical CCM specimens and in blood samples of CCM patients.

Our previous study has demonstrated that procyanidin A1(A1) and its simulated digestive product (D-A1) can prevent acrylamide （ACR）-induced cytotoxicity in small intestine cells. However， the potential mechanism remains poorly understood. In this study， ACR treatment was found to increase the levels of 8-hydroxy-deoxyguanine （8-OHdG） and phosphorated histone H2AX (γH2AX)， two DNA damage markers， thereby resulting in cell cycle arrest in the G2/M phase; whereas both A1and D-A1could prevent the phosphorylation of ataxia telangiectasia mutated （ATM） and checkpoint kinase 2 （Chk2）， and then regulate the expression of G2/M phase-related proteins， finally maintaining normal cell cycle progression. Moreover， A1and D-A1could increase the B cell lymphoma 2 （Bcl-2）/Bcl2-associated X （Bax） ratio and decrease the expression of cleaved caspase-3 and cleaved caspase-9 proteins to alleviate ACR-induced cell apoptosis， which might be related to the inhibition of the mitogen-activated protein kinase （MAPK） pathway. More importantly， A1showed no remarkable variation in inhibitory effect before and after digestion， indicating that it can endure gastrointestinal digestion and may be a promising phytochemical to alleviate ACR-induced intestinal cell damage.

Mapping Climate Services for Disaster Risk Management: A Systematic Review and Research Gaps from a Policy Process Perspective

Climate services (CS) are crucial for mitigating and managing the impacts and risks associated with climate-induced disasters. While evidence over the past decade underscores their effectiveness across various domains, particularly agriculture, to maximize their potential, it is crucial to identify emerging priority areas and existing research gaps for future research agendas. As a contribution to this effort, this paper employs the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology to review the state-of-the-art in the field of climate services for disaster risk management. A comprehensive search across five literature databases combined with a snowball search method using ResearchRabbit was conducted and yielded 242 peer-reviewed articles, book sections, and reports over 2013-2023 after the screening process. The analysis revealed flood, drought, and food insecurity as major climate-related disasters addressed in the reviewed literature. Major climate services addressed included early warning systems, (sub)seasonal forecasts and impact-based warnings. Grounded in the policy processes’ theoretical perspective, the main focus identified and discussed three prevailing policy-oriented priority areas: 1) development of climate services, 2) use-adoption-uptake, and 3) evaluation of climate services. In response to the limitations of the prevalent supply-driven and top-down approach to climate services promotion, co-production emerges as a cross-cutting critical aspect of the identified priority areas. Despite the extensive research in the field, more attention is needed, particularly pronounced in the science-policy interface perspective, which in practice bridges scientific knowledge and policy decisions for effective policy processes. This perspective offers a valuable analytical lens as an entry point for further investigation. Effects of unilateral superimposed high-frequency jet ventilation on porcine hemodynamics and gas exchange during one-lung flooding

BACKGROUND Superimposed high-frequency jet ventilation(SHFJV)is suitable for respiratory motion reduction and essential for effective lung tumor *** filling of the target lung wing one-lung flooding(OLF)is necessary for therapeutic ultrasound ***,whether unilateral SHFJV allows adequate hemodynamics and gas exchange is *** To compared SHFJV with pressure-controlled ventilation(PCV)during OLF by assessing hemodynamics and gas exchange in different animal *** SHFJV or PCV was used alternatingly to ventilate the non-flooded lungs of the 12 anesthetized pigs during *** animal positions were changed from left lateral position to supine position(SP)to right lateral position(RLP)every 30 *** each position,ventilation was maintained for 15 min in both *** variables and arterial blood gas levels were repeatedly *** Unilateral SHFJV led to lower carbon dioxide removal than PCV without abnormally elevated carbon dioxide *** slightly decreased oxygenation in SP and RLP compared with PCV;the lowest values of PaO_(2) and PaO_(2)/FiO_(2) ratio were found in SP[13.0;interquartile range(IQR):12.6-5.6 and 32.5(IQR:31.5-38.9)kPa].Conversely,during SHFJV,the shunt fraction was higher in all animal positions(highest in the RLP:0.30).CONCLUSION In porcine model,unilateral SHFJV may provide adequate ventilation in different animal positions during *** oxygenation and CO_(2) removal rates compared to PCV did not lead to hypoxia or *** can be safely used for lung tumor ablation to minimize ventilation-induced lung motion.

We study the electronic structures of LiMn2O4 by x-ray and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS, UPS） and resonant photoelectron spectroscopy （RPES）. XPS data suggest that the average oxidation state of Mn ions is 3.55, probably due to the small amount of lithium oxides on the surface. UPS and RPES data imply that Mn ions are in a high spin state, and RPES results show strong Mn3d-O2p hybridization in the LiMn2O4 valence band.

Structure and Kinematics of Emission Line Regions in AGN

I will review some key aspects of the physical conditions of the line emitting regions in AGN. The innermost BLR extends at radii of light days to light weeks from the central ionizing source. There are strong indications that the BLR clouds are connected to the outer region of an accretion disk. Trends of radial acceleration of the line emitting clouds have been found in the extended narrow line region. Ⅰ will concentrate on observations taken in the optical wavelength range. Finally, Ⅰ will discuss different methods to determine the mass of the central supermassive black hole from the emission lines.

Protein Disulfide Isomerase 2 of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii Is Involved in Circadian Rhythm Regulation

Protein disulfide isomerases （PDIs） are known to play important roles in the folding of nascent proteins and in the formation of disulfide bonds. Recently, we identified a PDI from Chlamydomonas reinhardtii （CrPDI2） by a mass spectrometry approach that is specifically enriched by heparin affinity chromatography in samples taken during the night phase. Here, we show that the recombinant CrPDI2 is a redox-active protein. It is reduced by thioredoxin reductase and catalyzes itself the reduction of insulin chains and the oxidative refolding of scrambled RNase A. By immunoblots, we confirm a high-amplitude change in abundance of the heparin-bound CrPDI2 during subjective night. Interestingly, we find that CrPDI2 is present in protein complexes of different sizes at both day and night. Among three identified interac- tion partners, one （a 2-cys peroxiredoxin） is present only during the night phase. To study a potential function of CrPDI2 within the circadian system, we have overexpressed its gene. Two transgenic lines were used to measure the rhythm of phototaxis~ In the transgenic strains, a change in the acrophase was observed. This indicates that CrPDI2 is involved in the circadian signaling pathway and, together with the night phase-specific interaction of CrPDI2 and a peroxiredoxin, these findings suggest a close coupling of redox processes and the circadian clock in C. reinhardtii.
