The largest sugarcane-growing area in the United States is in South Florida. An estimated 7 million tons of dry sugarcane leafy biomass is removed from the fields before harvest by burning the leaves off the sugarcane stalks. Preharvest sugarcane leaf foliage burning is a major source of airborne particulate matter (PM), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), biogenic trace elements such as K, volatile hydrocarbons and other pollutants. In one harvesting period, approximately 22 million tons of C02, a greenhouse gas, is released, 7 million tons from leaf foliage preharvest burning alone and 15 million tons from burning sugarcane bagasse in the sugar mills for power generation. In this study, PMio was collected from Belle Glade, close to the sugarcane-growing area, and from Delray Beach, an urbanized area along the East Coast of Florida. The PM samples were analyzed for trace elements and close to organic compounds. To elucidate the importance of preharvest sugarcane biomass smoke emissions on air quality, 39 trace elements, 18 PAHs, and levoglucosan were selected to apportion ambient PM constituents. Al, Ca and to a great extend also Mg are the major soil-related trace elements and key markers for fugitive soil dust emissions. Similarly, sea salt aerosol blown from the Atlantic Ocean into Florida added appreciably to PMio trace elements concentration, especially Na and Cl. Approximately half of the sea salt aerosol (PMjo -portion) by mass is removed from the atmosphere during the transport of ocean air from Delray Beach to Belle Glade. Ambient acid displacement reactions caused a substantial portion of the Cl (30%) to be liberated from the sea salt aerosol to the atmosphere during transport as gaseous HC1. The PAH concentrations at Belle Glade were high when the biomass combustion markers levoglucosan and Irations. Within the project preparation phase, experienced professionals manually map design information onto process information with the aim to develop realistic and practical schedules. Unfortunately, the mapping itself is neither part of any underlying data model nor is it supported by current scheduling tools. As a consequence the process of setting up the data model for a schedule is still not supported formally. Huhnt and Enge described a modelling technique that addresses the missing linkage between design and process information[1]. The approach makes use of so called component types. These are template sub-processes that describe the fabrication procedure of typical building components. Decomposing the building into com-ponents and assigning a component type to each component allows for formal support while scheduling. Depending on the decomposition of the building into components and the complexity of the involved component types the specification effort differs. The question about optimal component types arises: Which layout of building components and component types results in minimal specification effort? This paper presents a branch and bound algorithm to determine optimal component types. For a given schedule, which has been modelled based on component types, all possible decompositions into sub-processes are determined. During the decomposition process the encountered configurations are compared. Those with minimal specifica-tion effort are registered. Theoretical and practical examples are examined and discussed.

Microalloyed steels for forging applications have been newly developed in order to increase strength and toughness properties which thereby give the possibility for light weight *** properties of these steels are set up by a controlled cooling directly from the forging heat without an additional heat *** aim can be achieved on the one hand by a further development of precipitation hardening ferritic pearlitic steels (AFP-steel) due to an extended use of microalloying elements (AFP-M steel) and on the other hand by microalloyed steels which employ a bainitic microstructure (HDB steel).To adjust the targeted microstructure the temperature control has to be assured down to approx.500℃ for the AFP-M steels and down to approx.300℃ for the HDB steels.

The influences of hydrogen on the mechanical properties and the fracture behaviour of Fe-22Mn-0.6C twinning induced plasticity steel have been investigated by slow strain rate tests and fractographic *** steel showed high susceptibility to hydrogen embrittlement,which led to 62.9%and 74.2%reduction in engineering strain with 3.1 and 14.4 ppm diffusive hydrogen,*** fracture surfaces revealed a transition from ductile to brittle dominated fracture modes with the rising hydrogen *** underlying deformation and fracture mechanisms were further exploited by examining the hydrogen effects on the dislocation substructure,stacking fault probability,and twinning behaviour in pre-strained slow strain rate test specimens and notched tensile specimens using coupled electron channelling contrast imaging and electron backscatter diffraction *** results reveal that the addition of hydrogen promotes planar dislocation structures,earlier nucleation of stacking faults,and deformation twinning within those grains which have tensile axis orientations close to//rolling direction and//rolling *** developed twin lamellae result in strain localization and micro-voids at grain boundaries and eventually lead to grain boundary decohesion.

This paper introduces a new modulation and direct detection scheme of optical phase shift keying (PSK) which is simple and practical in fiber optical communication. A phase modulator is used to modulate a continuous wave (CW) laser source and return-to-zero (rZ) signal that is changed from the initial transmitting information is used to control a phase modulator to form a optical PSK signal. In the receiver terminal, just add a signal delayed a half of one bit to itself so that the initial information can be restored.

Simulation and experimental study of a novel bifacial structure of silicon heterojunction solar cell for high efficiency and low cost

A novel structure of Ag gridlSiN_(x)/n+-c-Si/n-c-Si/i-a-Si:H/p^(+)-a-Si:HlTCO/Ag grid was designed to increase the ef-ficiency of bifacial amorphous/crystalline silicon-based solar cells and reduce the rear material consumption and production *** simulation results show that the new structure obtains higher efficiency compared with the typical bifa-cial amorphous/crystalline silicon-based solar cell because of an increase in the short-circuit current(J_(sc)),while retaining the advantages of a high open-circuit voltage,low temperature coefficient,and good weak-light ***,real cells composed of the novel structure with dimensions of 75 mm×75 mm were fabricated by a special fabrication recipe based on industrial *** parameter optimization,the cell efficiency reached 21.1%with the J_(sc)of 41.7 mA/cm^(2).In addition,the novel structure attained 28.55%potential conversion efficiency under an illumination of AM 1.5 G,100 mW/cm^(2).We conclude that the configuration of the Ag grid/SiN_(x)/n^(+)-c-Si/n-c-Si/i-a-Si:H/p^(+)-a-Si:H/TCO/Ag grid is a promising structure for high efficiency and low cost.
