There is growing interest in the rol. that apex predators pl.y in shaping terrestrial.ecosystem. and m.intaining tro- phic cascades. In l.ne with the m.sopredator rel.ase hypothesis, Austral.an dingoes （Canis l.pus dingo and hybrids） are assum.d by m.ny to regul.te the abundance of invasive m.sopredators, such as red foxes Vul.es vul.es and feral.cats Fel.s catus, thereby providing indirect benefits to various threatened vertebrates. Several.recent papers have cl.im.d to provide evidence for the bio- diversity benefits of dingoes in this way. Neverthel.ss, in this paper we highl.ght several.critical.weaknesses in the m.thodol.gi- cal.approaches used in m.ny of these reports, incl.ding l.ck of consideration for seasonal.and habitat differences in activity, the com.l.cation of sim.l. track-based indices by incorporating difficul.-to-m.et assum.tions, and a reduction in sensitivity for as-sessing popul.tions by using binary m.asures rather than potential.y continuous m.asures. Of the 20 studies reviewed, 15 of them.（75%） contained serious m.thodol.gical.fl.ws, which m.y partl. expl.in the inconcl.sive nature of the l.terature investigating interactions between invasive Austral.an predators. We therefore assert that m.st of the ＂growing body of evidence＂ for m.so- predator rel.ase is m.rel. an inconcl.sive growing body of l.terature onl.. We encourage those interested in studying the eco- l.gical.rol.s of dingoes rel.tive to invasive m.sopredators and native prey species to account for the factors we identify, and cau- tion the val.e of studies that have not done so [Current Zool.gy 57 （5）： 568-583, 2011].

Red rice Is an Interfertl.e, weedy form.of cul.ivated rice （Oryza sativa l.） that com.etes aggressivel. with the crop In the southern US, reducing yiel.s and contam.nating harvests. No wil. Oryza species occur In North Am.rica and the weed has been proposed to have evol.ed through m.l.ipl. m.chanism., Incl.ding ＂de-dom.stication＂ of US crop cul.l.ars, accidental.introduction of Asian weeds, and hybridization between US crops and Asian wil./weedy Oryza strains. The phenotype of US red rice ranges from.＂crop m.m.cs＂, which share som. dom.stication traits with the crop, to strains cl.sel. resem.l.ng Asian wil. Oryza species. Assessm.nts of genetic diversity have Indicated that m.ny weed strains are cl.sel. rel.ted to Asian taxa （Incl.ding indica and aus rice varieties, which have never been cul.ivated In the US, and the Asian crop progenitor O. rufl.ogon）, whereas others show genetic sim.l.rity to the tropical.Japonica varieties cul.ivated In the southern US. Herein, we review what Is known about the evol.tionary origins and genetic diversity of US red rice and describe an ongoing research project to further characterize the evol.tionary genom.cs of this aggressive weed.

We report the m.dul.tional.instabil.ty （m.） anal.sis for the m.dul.tion equations governing the propagation of coherent pol.rized l.ght through a nem.tic l.quid crystal.（Nl.） sl.b, in the l.m.t of l.w l.ght intensity and l.cal.m.terial.response. The l.near stabil.ty anal.sis of the nonl.near pl.ne wave sol.tions is perform.d by considering both the wave vectors （k,l. of the basic states and wave vectors （K,l. of the perturbations as free param.ters. We com.ute the m. gain, and the m. gain peak is reduced and the stabl. bandwidth is widened with the increase of the strength of the appl.ed el.ctric fiel.. Further, we invoke the extended hom.geneous bal.nce m.thod and Exp-function m.thod aided with sym.ol.c com.utation and obtain a series of periodic sol.tonic hum.s of nem.ticon profil.s adm.tting the propagation of l.ser l.ght in the Nl. m.dium.

The infl.ence of a basin depth on ice cover defl.ctions, when a subm.rine m.ves under it in fl.id, is experim.ntal.y and theoretical.y anal.zed. For a theoretical.research the ice cover is m.del.ed by an el.stic fl.ating pl.te, and the subm.rine is m.del.ed by a source-sink system.in a fl.id fl.w. The probl.m.is sol.ed by m.ans of asym.totic anal.sis and integral.transform.tions. The experim.ntal.study is conducted with subm.rine m.del. in the pool.with the sizes l.B*H= 10m.3m.l.0}. The ice cover for experim.nts is m.del.ed in two ways. The first way is the thin ice pl.te received by freezing of the surface l.yer of water at l.w tem.eratures. In the second case the rubber sheet fl.ating on a reservoir surface is used. The special.vel.city (the vel.city at which m.xim.m.val.es of the wave height are reached) is anal.zed. It is obtained that the decrease of the basin depth l.ads to decrease of the special.speed. For sm.l. speeds (l.ss than the special.speed) there is the fact that the basin depth decrease l.ads to the increase of the height of the fl.xural.gravity wave.

We derive, with an invariant operator m.thod and unitary transform.tion approach, that the Schr6dinger equation with a tim.-dependent l.near potential.possesses an infinite string of shape-preseving wave-packet states 1φ,λ （t） having cl.ssical.m.tion. The qual.tative properties of the invariant eigenval.e spectrum.（discrete or continuous） are described separatel. for the different val.es of the frequency ω of a harm.nic oscil.ator. It is al.o shown that, for a discrete eigenval.e spectrum. the states 1φ,λ （t） coul. be obtained from.the coherent state 1φ,λ （t）.

The m.thod of l.e group transform.tion is used to obtain an approxim.te anal.tical.sol.tion to the system.of first-order quasil.near partial.differential.equations that govern a one-dim.nsional.unsteady pl.ner, cyl.ndrical.y sym.etric and spherical.y sym.etric m.tion in a non-ideal.gas, invol.ing strong shock waves. Invariance groups adm.tted by the governing system.of partial.differential.equations, which are indeed continuous group of transform.tions under which the system.of partial.differential.equations rem.ins invariant, are determ.ned, and the com.l.te l.e al.ebra of infinitesim.l.sym.etries is establ.shed. The infinitesim.l.generators are used to construct the sim.l.rity variabl.s. These sim.l.rity variabl.s are used to reduce the governing system.of partial.differential.equations into a system.of ordinary differential.equations.

The nitrides of transient m.tal. have a high hardness, therm.l.stabil.ty, rem.rkabl. wear resistance in aggressive chem.cal.m.dium., m.l.ed m.tal. and al.oys, high corrosion resistance, and l.w coefficient of el.ctric resistance. Under the conditions of l.w-tem.erature argon pl.sm. （l.P）, therm.dynam.c investigations were conducted in the process of obtaining of A1N, TiN and Si3N4 in a tem.erature range of 1000 K to 6000 K. To investigate the therm.dynam.c possibil.ty of obtaining nitrides, a com.uter m.del.was used which provided the equil.brium.com.osition of gaseous and sol.d phases at different tem.eratures. The conditions for chem.cal.equil.brium.of the system.were based on the m.nim.zation of Gibbs＇ energy.

In order to im.rove the m.chanical.properties of pol.pyrrol., com.osites were m.de by el.ctropol.m.rizing pol.pyrrol. in a pol.urethane m.trix. Pol.pyrrol./pol.urethane (PPY/PU) com.osite fil.0} containing Cl._4^-, BF_4^- or CH_3-C_6H_4-SO_3^- counter ions were m.de in a variety of sol.ent system. and characterized by SEm. el.ctronic conductivity, FTIR, and m.chanical.properties. Com.osite fil.0} showing m.ch greater fiexibil.ty than pure pol.pyrrol. were obtained, but their el.ctronic conductivities were substantial.y l.wer. m.asured eonductivities ranged from.0.001 to 8 S/cm. tensil. strengths from.44 to 592 psi, and el.ngation to fail.re from.3 to 70%.

In this study, we exam.ned variabil.ty of sun-rel.ted energies, auroral.el.ctrojet current, ring current, and m.gnetopause current during sol.r cycl.s 23 and 24. The study reveal.d a dependence of sun-rel.ted energies to the Sun and Earth currents system. with sol.r activity from.1996 to 2019. A decrease in the correl.tion between sun-rel.ted energies and sunspot num.er was observed over sol.r cycl.s 23 and 24 (0.88 for the sol.r cycl. 23 and 0.66 for the sol.r cycl. 24), with a drop in the speed of m.gnetic disturbances in the sol.r wind. These resul.s coul. be attributed to the decrease in Sun’s m.gnetic fiel. toroidal.com.onent m.gnitude induced by a weak in sunspots num.er and sol.r fl.res during the sol.r cycl. 24. A weak in the Earth currents system. (auroral.el.ctrojet current, ring current, and m.gnetopause current) is al.o observed. During the decrease in the Earth currents, several.peaks are observed, indicating a nonl.near dependence in the Earth currents variation (ring current, auroral.el.ctrojet current, and m.gnetopause current) from.sol.r cycl. 23 to sol.r cycl. 24. This coul. be attributed to the Corotating Interaction Regions (CIRs) observed during the decl.ning phase of sol.r cycl. 23 and the deep m.nim.m.preceding sol.r cycl. 24.

Growth Responses of Wheat Cul.ivars to Rock Phosphate in Hydroponics

Screening cul.ivars to grow under conditions of l.w phosphorus (P) avail.bil.ty and util.ze P efficientl. from.com.ounds of l.w sol.bil.ty in soil. m.y be beneficial.to overcom. poor pl.nt growth in P-deficient soil.. The growth behavior and P util.zation efficiency of seven wheat cul.ivars grown in hydroponics were studied, using rock phosphate as P source. The wheat cul.ivars grown for 30 days were significantl. different in biom.ss accum.l.tion, P uptake and P util.zation efficiency. The dry m.tter production of al. the cul.ivars was significantl. correl.ted with P uptake, which in turn correl.ted to the drop in the root m.dium.pH. The ranking of wheat cul.ivars on the basis of dry m.tter yiel., P uptake and P util.zation efficiency was Zam.ndar 80 > Yecora > C 271 > Wl.711 > Barani 83 > PARI 73 > Rohtas. The cul.ivar Zam.ndar 80 appeared to possess the best growth potential.in P-deficient soil..
