Modelling the diagenetic history of a tectonically active basin is crucial for understanding the depositional and post-depositional processes including the evolution and development of porosity and permeability. This study describes the diagenetic imprints of the inverted Lower Cretaceous Weald Basin and examines the depositional and tectonic controls on the diagenetic, porosity and permeability evolution of its ***-two representative sandstone samples from the Weald Basin were subjected to detailed microscopic(optical and scanning electron) analyses. The dominant early diagenetic fabrics include grain-coating detrital clays, degraded and dissolved detrital grains, and vermiform kaolinite pore-filling cement while uplift-related or telogenetic characteristics are mainly post-compactional pore-filling goethite and hematite cement. This work is significant because it presents the first diagenetic model of the Lower Cretaceous Wealden sandstones which can be very useful for understanding basins with similar depositional and tectonic settings.

Through achieving high-spatial-frequency laser-induced periodic surface structures （HSFLs） on a gold/graphene hybrid film,we introduce a high-speed,high-resolution,and wide-gamut chromotropic color printing *** method effectively addresses the trade-off between throughput and resolution in laser *** realize Au HSFL,disordered lattice structures and high transmittance of amorphous Au （a-Au） thin film are used to overcome the rapid hot-electron diffusion and loss of plasmonic coherence typically observed on low-loss metal surfaces,*** with crystallization in Au and modulated surface plasmon polaritons by artificial"seed"pre-structure growing in a SiO2/Si substrate,HSFL emerged with a period of 100 nm on crystalline Au after single and rapid femtosecond laser *** equips the proposed color printing with highresolution and high-speed features *** addition,the crystallization process is demonstrated to initiate change in the complex refractive index of Au,which causes wide-gamut *** chromotropic capability,which facilitates the background color to be tailored in color as well as into desirable shapes independently,enables three-level anti-counterfeiting based on the proposed color ***,the proposed color printing is amenable for practical implementation in diverse applications,including security marking and data storage,ranging from nanoscale to large-scale fabrication.?2024 Chinese Laser Press

The field‐angle dependence of the critical current in a REBa_(2)Cu_(3)O_(7) coated conductor has been measured over a fine range of temperatures from 15 K to 80 *** particular sample is demonstrated to have a very low fraction of extrinsic planar defects by its near‐isotropic critical current at 77 *** a representative magnetic field of 3 T we are able to track the emergence of the ab‐plane peak usually associated with intrinsic pinning and quantify its evolution with temperature by fitting to a maximum‐entropy *** are also able to observe the evolution of dip and peak features in the angle dependence of the power‐law index n with decreasing temperature and show that a dip appearing at 65 K is supplanted by a sharper positive peak from 50 *** combination of critical current and power‐law index temperature dependences shows the onset of intrinsic pinning at 50 K.

The systems sciences and cybernetics emerged in the years after World War II. These fields created many new approaches to engineering and management and contributed new ideas to existing academic fields. The new fields also identified similar concepts across a range of fields and began to create a general theory of systems. In addition the systems sciences created a variety of methods for managing complex systems, for example logistics, operations research and computer simulations. In the 1970s there was concern about population and environment balance. Currently there is increasing concern with governance, since the rate of presentation of problems seems to be greater than the ability of our institutions to manage them. This paper will discuss the history of systems science and cybernetics, the questions formulated and the solutions proposed, the difficulties encountered in Finding a home within contemporary universities and some exciting lines of research now underway.

The linear Gutenberg-Richter relationship is well-established. In any region of the Earth, the logarithm of the number of earthquakes, greater than any magnitude, is proportional to magnitude. This means that the underlying physics is non-linear and not purely elastic. This nonlinear physics has not been resolved. Here we suggest that a new understanding of fluid-rock deformation provides the physics underlying Gutenberg-Richter： where the fluid-saturated microcracks in almost all in situ rocks are so closely-spaced that they verge on failure and fracture, and hence are critical-systems which impose fundamentally-new properties on conventional sub-critical geophysics. The observation of linear Gutenberg-Richter relationship in moonquakes suggests that residual fluids exist at depth in the Moon.

Based on the rate equations describing the erbium-doped fluoride glass （ZBLAN） fibre lasers with different pumping configurations being taken into account, this paper presents theoretical calculations related to the dynamic population density and the operation performance of a high power mid-infrared all-fibre erbium-doped ZBLAN fibre laser. It shows that the ground-state absorption, excited-state absorption and energy-transfer-upconversion processes co-exist and produce a population balance, causing the laser to operate stably at a continuous wave state. A good agreement between the theoretical results and recent experimental measurement is obtained. Furthermore, the laser structure parameters including fibre length, reflectance of output fibre Bragg grating and pumping configurations are quantitatively optimised to achieve the best performance. The results show, as expected, that the slope efficiency of the fibre laser can be improved significantly through optimisation, which then provides an important guide for the design of high-performance mid-infrared erbium-doped ZBLAN fibre lasers.
