The erratic supply of electricity in Nigeria has renewed interest in the utilisation of coal for energy selfsufficiency and diversification of the national energy *** this study,selected coal samples from three regions of the Benue Trough Basin were examined through pore water chemistry,X-ray diffraction(XRD),and thermosgravimetric analysis(TGA).The low pH observed for the Lower Benue Trough(LBT)coals indicates the release of sulphur and acids during *** analyses reveal quartz,kaolinite,montmorillonite,albite,pyrite,gypsum and sodium chlorate in the coal *** genetic kaolinite species identified in Imeagha(ImG)coal are detrital kaolinite and the highly crystalline neomorphic *** and jarosite minerals occurred in minor quantities in Garin maiganga(GmG),whereas significant amount of pyrite was detected in Enugu(ENG)*** thermal degradation resulted in the residual mass(Rm)ranging between 4.35%and 56.96%and mass losses(mL)between 43.04%and 95.65%due to the drying,devolatilization,and coke formation in the *** most reactive coal examined was GmG coal,whereas the least reactive was ImG ***(LmZ),GmG,and OKB coals are suited for electricity generation,whereas ENG and ImG coals can be utilised for cement production.

Treatment Satisfaction with Insulin Glargine in Insulin-Naïve Type 2 Diabetes Patients—A Hong Kong Based Registry

Objective: To evaluate patient satisfaction with insulin glargine. Design: multicentre observational registry. Data were collected at baseline/inclusion visit, and 12 and 24 weeks. Setting: Physicians in Hong Kong, who managed type 2 diabetes patients and had >5 years’ experience in using insulin glargine. Patients: People with type 2 diabetes, new to insulin, aged 18 - 75 years, who were previously being treated with ≤3 oral antidiabetes drugs (OAD) and had HbA1c > 7%, and in whom the?physicians had chosen to prescribe glargine for the first time. main outcome measures: Treatment satisfaction assessed by Diabetes Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire (DTSQs), glycaemic control (fasting blood glucose and HbA1c) and adverse events. Results: Between April 2010-October 2011, 41 patients completed the study. Average duration of diabetes and OAD therapy was 7.8 ± 8.0 years and 6.7 ± 7.4 years, respectively. The global DTSQs treatment satisfaction scores improved from 20.9 at baseline to 28.4 (p ment. Analysis of DTSQs scores showed a decrease in perceived frequency of hyperglycaemia (4.1 to 1.9, p mia (2.2 to 1.5, p = 0.079). Perceived convenience (0.60, p were also improved from baseline. Reduction in mean HbA1c (10.2% ± 2.2% to 7.0% ± 1.0%) and fasting blood glucose (10.9 ± 4.0 mmol/L to 6.4 ± 1.8 mmol/L) from baseline to study termination was significant (p most half (48.7%) of patients achieved HbA1c ≤ 7.0%, while 26.0% patients had FBG mmol/L. In total, 9 (22.0%) patients experienced at least one hypoglycemia event;there were no reports of severe hypoglycaemia. Determining the Cosmological Constant Using Gravitational Wave Observations

It is shown in Einstein gravity that the cosmological constant Λ introduces a graviton mass mg into the theory, a result that will be derived from the Regge-Wheeler-Zerilli problem for a particle falling onto a Kottler-Schwarzschild mass with Λ≠ 0. The value of mg is precisely the Spin-2 gauge line appearing on the Λ- m2g?phase diagram for Spin-2, the partially massless gauge lines introduced by Deser & Waldron in the m2g,?Λ)?phase plane and described as the Higuchi bound m2g= 2Λ/3. Note that this graviton is unitary with only four polarization degrees of freedom (helicities ±2, ±1, but not 0 because a scalar gauge symmetry removes it). The conclusion is drawn that Einstein gravity (EG, Λ≠ 0) is a partially massless gravitation theory which has lost its helicity 0 due to a scalar gauge symmetry. That poses a challenge for gravitational wave antennas as to whether they can measure the loss of this gauge symmetry. Also, given the recent results measuring the Hubble constant Ho from LIGO-Virgo data, it is then shown that Λcan be determined from the LIGO results for the graviton mass mg and Ho. This is yet another multi-messenger source for determining the three parameters Λ, mg, and Ho in astrophysics and cosmology, at a time when there is much disparity in measurements of Ho.

Power Output and Electromyography Activity of the Back Squat Exercise with Cluster Sets

Recently, it has been demonstrated that hypertrophic training with CLU （cluster） sets produces greater strength and power following a 12-week periodized program. The results suggest possible differences in neuromuscular adaptations. Therefore, we sought to compare the acute effect of TRD （traditional） and CLU set configurations during the parallel back squat on mean power output and integrated EmG （electromyography） activity of the VL （vastus lateralis） and BF （biceps femoris）. Ten males （23 ~ 2.4 years; height 182.9 ~ 6.1 cm; weight 86.2 ~ 4.2 kg; 5 ~ 2 years training） performed the parallel back squat using TRD and CLU with 75% 1Rm （one-repetition maximum） in a randomized crossover design. Data was analyzed by a repeated measures--ANOVA （analysis of variance）. A significant effect of set （P = 0.006） was observed in mean power output. mean power output decreased over each successive set when collapsed for condition. Clusters resulted in greater mean power output during latter repetitions of each set （repetition 4, 6-10; P 〈 0.05）. A significant effect of set （P = 0.049） was observed in VL EmG. VL EmG increased over each successive set when collapsed for condition. TRD training produced significantly greater VL EmG during latter repetitions of each set （repetition 6-8; P 〈 0.05）. An interaction was observed in BF EmG. No significant differences were observed in post-hoc. Thus, cluster sets can be used to achieve greater power output, but greater neuromuscular activity should not be expected relative to traditional training.

Applying reticular synthesis to the design of Cu-based mOFs with mechanically interlocked linkers

The concept of“robust dynamics”describes the incorporation of mechanically interlocked molecules(mIms)into metal-organic framework(mOF)materials such that large amplitude motions(e.g.,rotation or translation of a macrocycle)can occur inside the free volume pore of the *** aid in the preparation of such materials,reticular synthesis was used herein to design rigid molecular building blocks with predetermined ordered structures starting from the well-known mOF *** linkers were synthesized that have a T-shape,based on a triphenylene tetra-carboxylate strut,and their incorporation into Cu(II)-based mOFs was *** single-crystal structures of three new mOFs,UWCm-12(fof),β-UWCm-13(loz),UWCm-14(lil),with naked T-shaped linkers were determined;β-UWCm-13 is the first reported example of the loz topology.A fourth mOF,UWDm-14(lil)is analogous to UWCm-14(lil)but contains a[2]rotaxane ***-temperature,^(2)H solid-state NmR was used to probe the dynamics of a 24-membered macrocycle threaded onto the mOF skeleton.

本文用X射线衍射分析（XRD）、红外光谱分析（IR）、透射电镜（TEm）及X射线荧光分析（XRF）对浙江省三种红、紫色砂页岩发育的红砂土、紫砂土和红紫砂土的矿物进行了分析。结果表明这三种土壤的全量化学组成有很大的差别，其中以铁、钛、锰及盐基元素的差别最为明显，体现了这三种土壤的成土母质形成于不同的沉积环境。红砂土以无序态高岭石和埃洛石为主，伴有一定数量的水云母和蛙石。紫砂土以水云母为主。伴有一定数量的埃洛石和蒙脱石，红紫砂土以蒙脱石和赤铁矿为主。三种土壤的晶态氧化铁组成也有很大的差异，紫砂土与红紫砂土为无铝替代的赤铁矿，而红砂土是由数量相近的赤铁矿和针铁矿所组成，并存在一定量的铝同晶替代，铁氧化物类型和数量的差异导致了三种土壤颜色的差别。

Pilot Test of the Permeable Reactive Barrier for Removing Uranium from the Flooded Gunnar Pit

This work reports on applying iron oxide coated sand (IOCS) media in an experimental permeable reactive barrier to remove uranium (U) species from uranium containing water. A field study was conducted at the legacy Gunnar uranium mine & mill site that was abandoned in the 1960s with limited to no decommissioning. The flooded Gunnar mine pit presently contains about 3.2 million m3 of water contaminated by dissolved U (1.2 mg/L), Ra-226 (0.4 Bq/L), and minor concentrations of other contaminants (As, Se, etc.). The water is seeping over the pit rim into Lake Athabasca, posing potential environmental and health concerns. IOCS media can be used to immobilize uranium species through an adsorption process. Herein, the preparation of hydrous ferric oxide sorbents and their supported forms onto silica sands is described. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and powder X-ray diffraction (pXRD) were used for structural characterization. The adsorption properties of the IOCS sorbent media were modeled by the Langmuir adsorption isotherm, where a maximum uranium uptake capacity was estimated. Bench-scale adsorption kinetic experiments were also performed before moving to a field trial. Based on these lab results and input on field-scale parameters, a pilot permeable reactive barrier was fabricated and a field test conducted near the Gunnar pit in June 2019. This pilot test provided technical data and information needed for designing a full-scale permeable barrier that employs the IOCS media. This approach can be applied for in-situ water treatment at Gunnar and other legacy uranium sites.

mitogen-activated protein kinase （mAPK） cascades are universal signal transduction modules present in all eukaryotes. In plants, mAPK cascades were shown to regulate cell division, developmental processes, stress responses, and hormone pathways. The subgroup A of Arabidopsis mAPKs consists of AtmPK3, AtmPK6, and AtmPK10. AtmPK3 and AtmPK6 are activated by their upstream mAP kinase kinases （mKKs） AtmKK4 and AtmKK5 in response to biotic and abiotic stress. In addition, they were identified as key regulators of stomatal development and patterning. AtmPKIO has long been considered as a pseudo-gene, derived from a gene duplication of AtmPK6. Here we show that AtmPKIO is expressed highly but very transiently in seedlings and at sites of local auxin maxima leaves. mPK10 encodes a functional kinase and interacts with the upstream mAP kinase kinase （mAPKK） AtmKK2. mpklO mutants are delayed in flowering in long-day conditions and in continuous light. moreover, cotyledons of mpk10 and mkk2 mutants have reduced vein complexity, which can be reversed by inhibiting polar auxin transport （PAT）. Auxin does not affect AtmPKIO expression while treatment with the PAT inhibitor HFCA extends the expression in leaves and reverses the mpklO mutant phenotype. These results suggest that the AtmKK2-AtmPK10 mAPK module regulates venation complexity by altering PAT efficiency.

Regional Economic Impacts of Biochemical and Pyrolysis Biofuel Production in the Southeastern US: A Systems modeling Approach

This research developed a regional economic model to estimate the ex-ante impacts of biofuel production on the economy of the southeastern United States. The analysis focuses on biofuels produced using biochemical and pyrolysis technologies. The primary feedstocks considered include switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) and poplar (Populus spp.). The economic analysis modifies the Impact Analysis for Planning (ImPLAN) input-output model to determine the macroeconomic impacts of a mature industry producing biofuels using these technologies and feedstocks. Optimal facility locations are determined using a site locator model that minimizes the costs of procuring feedstock. Given a change in the land use caused by industry demand for feedstock, shocks to the farm economy are forward-linked to sectors supporting biofuel production. Key economic indicators analyzed include changes in employment and value added to the economy. System output is analyzed using a nonparametric bootstrap procedure to simulate the distributions of the impacts. The null hypothesis is that the economic impacts following the introduction of the industries are not different from baseline economic activity. Findings suggest that the net changes in employment and value added to the regional economy are positive, but modest. For example, job increases attributed to the advancement of the industries analyzed range between 0.18% and 0.95%. Total value added to the regional economy ranged between 0.15% and 0.83%.
