We report here the activated carbon and cobalt hexacyanoferrate composite,which is applied as the electrode materials in symmetric supercapacitors containing a 1.0 M Na_(2)SO_(4) aqueous *** novel material combines high specific surface area and electrochemical stability of activated carbon with the redox properties of cobalt hexacyanoferrate,resulting in maximum specific capacitance of 329 F g^(-1) with large voltage working window of 2.0 *** studies indicated that cobalt hexacyanoferrate introduces important pseudocapacitive properties accounting for the overall charge-storage process,especially when I<0.5 A g^(-1).At lower gravimetric currents(e.g.,0.05 A g^(-1))and up to 1.0 V,the presence of cobalt hexacyanoferrate improves the specific energy for more than 300%.In addition,to better understanding the energy storage process we also provided a careful investigation of the electrode materials under dynamic polarization conditions using the in situ Raman spectroscopy and synchrotron light Xray diffraction *** complementary findings were obtained in these *** believe that this novel electrode material is promising for applications regarding the energy-storage process in pseudocapacitors with long lifespan properties.

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder and the most common cause of dementia that principally affects older *** factors,such as oxidative stress,an increase in acetylcholinesterase activity,mitochondrial dysfunction,genotoxicity,and neuroinflammation are present in this syndrome,which leads to *** pathologies such as Alzheimer’s disease are considered late-onset diseases caused by the complex combination of genetic,epigenetic,and environmental *** are two main types of Alzheimer’s disease,known as familial Alzheimer’s disease(onset<65 years)and late-onset or sporadic Alzheimer’s disease(onset≥65 years).Patients with familial Alzheimer’s disease inherit the disease due to rare mutations on the amyloid precursor protein(APP),presenilin 1 and 2(PSEN1 and PSEN2)genes in an autosomaldominantly fashion with closely 100%*** contrast,a different picture seems to emerge for sporadic Alzheimer’s disease,which exhibits numerous non-Mendelian anomalies suggesting an epigenetic component in its ***,the fundamental pathophysiological mechanisms driving Alzheimer’s disease are interfaced with epigenetic ***,the dynamic nature of epigenetics seems to open up new avenues and hope in regenerative neurogenesis to improve brain repair in Alzheimer’s disease or following injury or stroke in *** recent years,there has been an increase in interest in using natural products for the treatment of neurodegenerative illnesses such as Alzheimer’s *** epigenetic mechanisms,such as DNA methylation,non-coding RNAs,histone modification,and chromatin conformation regulation,natural compounds appear to exert neuroprotective *** we do not purport to cover every in this work,we do attempt to illustrate how various phytochemical compounds regulate the epigenetic effects of a few Alzheimer’s disease-related genes.

Raman probing of carbon electrode and electrolyte under dynamic conditions is performed here using different aqueous electrolytes to elucidate the fundamental events occurring in electrochemical supercapacitor during charge–discharge *** areal capacitance ranges from 1.54 to 2.31μF cm^(-2)μm and it is determined using different *** findings indicate that the Helmholtz capacitance governs the overall charge-storage process instead of the space charge(quantum)capacitance commonly verified for HOPG electrodes in the range of~3 to 7μF cm^(-2).Molecular dynamics simulations are employed to elucidate the origin of the reversible Raman spectral changes during the charge–discharge processes.A correlation is verified between the reversible Raman shift and the surface excesses of the different ionic species.A theoretical framework is presented to relate the effect of the applied potential on the Raman shift and its correlation with the surface ionic *** is proposed that the Raman shift is governed by the interaction of solvated cations with graphite promoted by polarization *** is the first time that a comparative study on different aqueous electrolyte p H and cation ion size has been performed tracking the Raman spectra change under dynamic polarization conditions and contrasting with comprehensive electrochemistry and dynamic molecular simulations *** study shines lights onto the charge-storage mechanism with evidence of Kohn anomaly reduction in the carbon electrode during the reversible adsorption/desorption and insertion/extraction of ionic species.

The purpose of this study was to analyse and compare the match characteristics of wheelchair PTT （Para table tennis） classes that played in the team tournament at the Rio 2016 Paralympic. Eight PTT matches of each selected class （1, 2, 4 and 5） were analysed.The variables analysed were DR （duration of rally） and RT （rest time）. In observing the characteristics of the matches in Classes 1, 2, 4 and 5, the DR corresponded to 3.4 ± 1.2, 4.2 ± 1.5, 4.5 ± 1.6 and 5.2 ± 1.2 seconds, and RT to 13.8 ± 3.5, 14 ± 3.5, 13.3 ± 3.1 and 12.3± 3.3 seconds. In Classes 1 and 2, significant differences in DR were found, but none in RT （p 〉 0.05）. In the DR and RT of classes 4 and 5 there were significant differences （p 〈 0.05）. The results indicated that the DR in Classes 1 and 2 were different because of sitting balance due to severe reduction of function in Class 1 playing arm, interfering in the rally and rest. In Classes 4 and 5 the differences in DR and RT were caused by little sitting balance in Class 4. These characteristics should be used by coaches to check the disadvantages that Class 1 presents against Class 2, and the physical limitations of Class 4 that can directly influence DR in the team tournament against athletes with normal trunk muscle function （Class 5）. Planned training prescriptions between classes would aim at achieving better sport performance in training and team tournaments.

The knowledge of the epidemiology of parasitic infections in stray and domestic animals, especially of its incidence and prevalence, is fundamental to adopting effective prophylactic measures. Stray dogs play an important role in environmental contamination favoring the transmission cycle of zoonotic agents. Among the parasitic infections that affect humans, Giardia duodenalis is the most common intestinal protozoa and was designated as a re-emerging infectious disease. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of G. duodenalis in dogs siezed by the Center for Control of Zoonoses (CCZ) of the city of Lages, Santa Catarina, Brazil using two diagnostic techniques. In 357 stool samples analysed, the prevalence of G. duodenalis cysts was 5.3% (19/357) and 4.8% (17/357) detected by floatation and sedimentation techniques, respecttively. No correspondence between gender and age was found among the methods used for analyzing the infected dogs in this study. Our data suggested that two diagnostic techniques should be used in a complementary way to ensure that false negatives are not neglected.

BACKGROUND:Upper gastrointestinal(GI)bleeding is a common complication of portal hypertension in cirrhotic patients,and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the most common tumor in cirrhotic *** from tumor erosion into the GI tract is very rare.A patient with HCC and gastric tumor invasion was described and the previously reported cases were reviewed. METHOD:A patient with upper GI bleeding was treated in a tertiary hospital. RESULTS:A cirrhotic patient with a HCC invading the stomach leading to upper GI bleeding was treated by left lateral segmentectomy and sub-total *** bleeding was controlled and a good surgical outcome was achieved. CONCLUSIONS:HCC with gastric invasion should be differentially diagnosed from upper GI bleeding in cirrhotic *** can be controlled and symptomatic relief marked in selected cases.

Introduction: Hepatocellular carcinoma is the most common primary neoplasm of the liver and a significant cause of mortality in patients with cirrhosis. A retrospective cross-sectional study was performed to analyze epidemiological aspects related to risk factors, diagnosis, staging and first-line treatment in a closed population. Methods: The medical records of patients seen between November 1998 and May 2011 were revisited. Results: Of the 272 patients included in this study, 229 (84.2%) were male and the average age was 57.1 years (standard deviation 10.9 years). The most common etiology was hepatitis C virus infection in 145 (55.1%) patients, with this being the single cause in 88 (33.4%) patients. The largest masses ranged from 6 mm to 260 mm in diameter with a mean of 61.4 mm (standard deviation 41.5 mm). Only one mass was found in 145 (64.2%) cases, two masses in 26 (11.5%), three masses in 9 (4%) and 46 patients (20.3%) had multifocal disease. Early stage disease was diagnosed in 47 patients (22.0%), advanced stage in 65 (30.4%) and terminal stage in 32 (14.9%). Hepatocellular carcinoma was found by chance in 11%. Diagnosis was by means of imaging in 175 (68.1%) cases. The level of alpha-fetoprotein was measured in 209 patients, with 29.2% having levels lower than 20 ng/mL and 34.9% having levels above 400 ng/mL. Specific treatment was administered in 236 patients (86.8%) with hepatic chemoembolization in 127 (46.7%) and liver transplantation in 72 (26.5%);of these 33 (45.8%) received hepatic chemoembolization as a bridge to transplantation. Thirty-four patients (12.5%) received only supportive therapy. Conclusions: Patients are chiefly male and disease involvement generally occurs in the 5th decade of life. Cirrhosis was present in most patients and hepatitis C virus infection was the commonest etiologic agent. Only one imaging examination was required for diagnosis in most patients. 西双版纳是我国兰科植物多样性的热点地区之一。本文对该地区6个主要的集贸市场开展了为期1年(每月1次)的兰科植物贸易调查,以了解该地区野生兰科植物采集和贸易的特点及趋势,为兰科植物的有效保护提供依据。本次调查共记录到兰科植物38属107种,87.9%的种类为附生兰,除铁皮石斛(Dendrobium officinale)外,其余均为野生采集。在记录到的106种野生采集的兰科植物中,93.4%为西双版纳原生分布种,约占该地区野生兰科植物总数的1/4,但大多数种类的记录频次都很低,记录频次在10次以上的仅有14种,说明该地区兰科植物的采集和贸易在种类上具有一定的普遍性和随意性。市场上的兰花售卖者大多数都为当地居民,他们将采集和出售兰花作为经济收入的来源和部分补充。本次调查没有发现跨边境兰花的采集和贸易。西双版纳兰科植物的贸易具有明显的传统性、地域性和季节性,4–6月为兰花贸易的高峰期。石斛属(Dendrobium)植物是最主要的贸易对象,共记录到35种,占总数的32.7%,记录频次最多的种类也都是石斛属植物。本地区药用石斛人工集约化栽培的快速发展并没有减少对野生石斛的采集,反而在一定程度上刺激和促进了市场上的野生石斛贸易。通过对兰花贸易特点的分析,我们针对该地区兰科植物的有效保护提出了针对性的建议,包括应尽快制定和颁布地方性的法律法规,维护和传承本地区传统的植物文化,对古茶园和龙山林等进行持续的保护和采用传统方式管理,开展有针对性的公众教育和宣传来提高公众的保护意识,以及大力发展药用石斛的生态栽培,使更多的当地居民参与其中,并获得收益,从而减少对野生资源的采集。
