Background:Rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder(RBD)and Parkinson’s disease(PD)are two distinct clinical diseases but they share some common pathological and anatomical *** study aims to confirm the clinical features of RBD in Chinese PD ***:One hundred fifty PD patients were enrolled from the Parkinson`s disease and Movement Disorders Center in Department of Neurology,Shanghai general Hospital from January 2013 to August *** study examined PD patients with or without RBD as determined by the REM Sleep Behavior Disorder Screening Questionnaire(RBDSQ),assessed motor subtype by Unified PD Rating Scale(UPDRS)III at“on”state,and compared the sub-scale scores representing tremor,rigidity,appendicular and *** also assessed the Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE),Clinical Dementia Rating(CDR),and Parkinson’s disease Sleep Scale(PDSS).Results:One hundred fourty one PD patients entered the final study.30(21.28%)PD patients had probable RBD(pRBD)diagnosed with a RBDSQ score of 6 or *** were no significant differences for age,including age of PD onset and PD duration,gender,smoking status,alcohol or coffee use,presence of anosmia or freezing,UPDRS III,and H-Y stages between the pRBD+and pRBD−***+group had lower MMSE scores,higher PDSS scores,and pRBD+PD patients had more prominent proportion in anxiety,depression,constipation,hallucination and a greater prevalence of orthostatic ***:pRBD+PD patients exhibited greater changes in non-motor ***,there was no increase in motor deficits.

目的研究帕金森病(Parkinson’s disease,PD)合并腿不宁,包括不安腿综合征(restless legs syndrome,RLS)和腿运动不宁(Leg motor restless,LMR)的临床特点,并与原发性RLS(iRLS)相比较。方法对276例PD患者及61例RLS患者行面谈访问,根据国际RLS诊断标准(2014版)确诊RLS,排除其它原因继发的RLS。比较PD伴RLS、PD伴LMR、PD不伴RLS或LMR以及iRLS患者的临床特点。

Vetiver grass and Micropollutant Leaching Through Structured Soil Columns Under Outdoor Conditions

In Burkina Faso, significant amounts of endosulfan are applied to cotton fields; in addition, urban vegetable agriculture is often characterised by high fertiliser inputs, such as urban solid wastes containing heavy metals(e.g., Cu and Cd). Thus, the relevance of surrounding cotton and urban vegetable plots with vetiver(Vetiveria zizanioides) hedges to reduce environmental pollution by micropollutants was investigated using a leaching experiment, with outdoor lysimeters filled with two representative agricultural soils of Burkina Faso: Vertisol and Lixisol. After 6 months, little Cu was found in the leachates(gh adsorption coefficient and its tendency to remain at the soil surface. Despite leachate and bromide recoveries being greater in soils planted with vetiver grass than in the bare soils, smaller amounts of endosulfan and Cd were found in the effluents from the planted soils(0.01% to 0.70% of the applied amount) than in those from the bare soils(0.01% to 1.48% of the applied amount), in agreement with their adsorption coefficients. These results may also be explained by a greater degradation of endosulfan in planted soils compared to bare soils and the absorption of Cd by vetiver. Thus, vetiver may decrease the risk of groundwater contamination,especially for Cd and endosulfan, which are more mobile than Cu. In addition, despite the smaller amounts of endosulfan and Cd measured in the Vertisol leachates(0.01% and 0.04% of the applied amount, respectively) compared to the Lixisol leachates, vetiver was more effective in decreasing the leaching of micropollutants if planted on Lixisol rather than on Vertisol. Further field monitoring is necessary to demonstrate the effectiveness of vetiver under the climatic conditions of Burkina Faso.

Phytoremediation Potential of Vetiver grass (Vetiveria Zizanioides) in Two Mixed Heavy Metal Contaminated Soils from the Zoundweogo and Boulkiemde Regions of Burkina Faso (West Africa)

In the agricultural regions of Burkina Faso, urban solid waste fertilizers were usually applied. This activity is likely to contaminate the soils and expose populations to serious diseases. This study aims to assess rate of heavy metal (Cd, Cu, Mn, Pb, Zn, Ni, Cr) contamination in both agricultural lixisol and vertisol and to evaluate the removal efficiency of heavy metals using Vetiver grass on different two mixed heavy metal contaminated soils. A pot experiment was conducted to compare the metal accumulation and overall efficiency of metal uptake by different plant parts (roots and shoots) on both tropical soils. After 3 and 6 months growing on laboratory conditions, Vetiver grass plants were harvested and heavy metal concentrations in shoot and root parts determined by Inductively Coupled Plasma - Atomic Emission Spectroscopy. The results indicate that at 3 and 6 moths, the shoot and root concentrations of heavy metals in Vetiver grass harvested in lixisol were higher than vertisol. For different plant parts, all metal concentrations were higher in root than in shoot, except Cu and Pb. At the 3 and 6 months, the BCF values > 1 for Cd, Cu and Zn in both soils showed Vetiver grass as an effective phyto-stabilizer for these metals. However, the TF values > 1 for Cd (lixisol), Mn, Zn Ni and Cr (vertisol) indicated the efficiency of Vetiver for phytoextraction. The results of this study showed that Vetiver is more effective in lixisol, but it can be used for remediation of both studied tropical soils from agricultural region of Burkina Faso. Nevertheless, considering the special limitations of the experimental conditions, further field monitoring is necessary to demonstrate the phytoremediation efficiency of Vetiver in agricultural soils under the climatic conditions of Burkina Faso.

Phytochemical analyses, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of stem bark extracts of Distemonanthus benthamianus H. Baill. and fruit extracts of Solanum torvum Sw. from gabon

Objective: To evaluate the phytochemical constituents, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of the extracts of Distemonanthus benthamianus(D. benthamianus) stem bark and Solanum torvum(S. torvum) fruit which have been used as traditional medicinal herbs in gabon. Methods: Plant extracts were subjected to a qualitative study(phytochemical screening) and a quantitative(dosing) study of secondary metabolites. Antioxidant activity was tested by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl and 2,2'-azino-bis 3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid assay. Bacteria and fungi susceptibility tests were performed on Mueller Hinton medium and solid Sabouraud, respectively, using the diffusion method, while minimum inhibitory concentration, minimum fungicidal concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration were evaluated by microdilution ***: The total phenol and tannin contents were significantly higher in the water-ethanol extract compared to the other extracts of D. benthamianus and S. torvum. The water-ethanol and water-acetone extracts showed significantly higher antioxidant activity than the aqueous extracts of the two medicinal plants. However, the extracts presented weak antioxidant activities compared to standards(Vitamin C, BHA). The water-acetone and water-ethanol extracts of S. torvum showed the highest antimicrobial activity against Bacillus cereus LMg 13569 BHI, Shigella dysenteriae 5451 CIP, Shigella dysenteriae and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Conclusions: Our results show that D. benthamianus and S. torvum can be promising sources of natural products with potential antimicrobial and antioxidant activities.

Objective:The importance of a“second look”laparoscopy for adhesion formation after myomectomy by laparotomy in improving fertility is not clearly defined in our *** aim of this study was to compare spontaneous fertility after myomectomy by laparotomy between women who underwent a“second look”laparoscopy and those who did ***:We conducted an analytical cross-sectional study with retrospective data collection from January 1,2008 to December 31,2015,comparing spontaneous fertility between patients who underwent“second-look”laparoscopy after myomectomy by laparotomy to those who did ***,data was collected from the records of patients included in the ***,through phone calls,informed consent for each participant was obtained after which inquiries were made regarding their fertility ***:After a period of 24 months,23 patients(47.9%)with“second look”laparoscopy conceived,compared to 37 patients(35.2%)without“second look”laparoscopy(p=0.136);and 24 patients(50.0%)with“second look”had term pregnancies compared to 39 patients(37.1%)without“second look”laparoscopy(p=0.134).Conclusion:Spontaneous fertility rates seemed to be improved after a“second look”laparoscopy,however,there was no statistically significant difference between spontaneous fertility rates obtained after myomectomy by laparotomy,irrespective of the fact that the patient had undergone a“second look”laparoscopy or not at Yaounde gyneco-Obstetric and Pediatric Hospital.

ObjectiveTo evaluate whole-body,extremity and eye-lens occupational dose equivalents of ionizing radiation to Occupationally Exposed Workers(OEWs)in gabon,monitored by the national Individual Monitoring Service(IMS),in the medical *** total of 816 dose records for 205 OEWs were *** were collected for an eight-year period,from 2013 to *** public and private hospitals were involved,including a cancer centre where radiotherapy(RT)and nuclear medicine(NM)procedures are regularly *** were monitored,on a monthly or quarterly basis,for whole-body dose and extremity dose using an optically stimulated luminescence(OSL)dosimeter worn on the torso or the wrist,as ***-lens dose was estimated from whole-body dose *** whole-body dose distribution was skewed and the zero dose was associated with a probability of 47%.Some recorded doses were associated with estimated X-ray energies above those typically encountered in diagnostic radiology,thus suggesting that some doses attributed to workers and believed to be due to X-rays may in fact be due to background radiation(false positive dose records).For the period 2013–2020,annual doses to OEWs in diagnostic radiology(DR),NM and RT departments were 0.40 mSv,0.38 mSv and 0.09 mSv,*** the same period,the mean annual extremity and eye-lens doses were 0.78 mSv(range:0–5.24mSv)and 0.35 mSv(range:0–3.74mSv),*** little effort by the national IMS and the regulatory body,annual whole-body doses to workers can be kept well below 6mSv,thus efficiently contributing to the optimization of worker's ***,extremity doses may in fact be greater than those reported for OEWs in the NM ***,eye-lens doses were well below the new annual dose limit of 20 mSv,thus demonstrating that,in the current situation,OEWs in the NM department do not require routine eye lens dose ***,whole-body dose may be used as an i

Background: Essential tremor is most prevalent and most disabling in older patients. Additional therapies are required for patients with an inadequate response or intolerable side effects. In small trials, topiramate appeared to be beneficial in essential tremor. Methods: In this multicenter, double- blind, placebo- controlled, parallel- design trial, patients with moderate to severe essential tremor of the upper limbs were randomized to 24 weeks of treatment with placebo or topiramate (target dose, 400 mg/day) as monotherapy or as an adjunct to one antitremor medication. The primary efficacy variable was the final visit tremor score based on the Fahn- Tolosa- Marin Tremor Rating Scale (TRS). Results: The intent- to- treat population was 208 patients (topiramate, 108; placebo, 100). The final visit score (last observation carried forward) was lower in the topiramate group than with placebo (p ge improvement in overall TRS scores was 29% with topiramate at a mean final dose of 292 mg/day and 16% with placebo (p greater improvement in function and disability (p = 0.001). A between- group difference (p get topiramate dose was 100 mg/day (mean achieved dose, 62 ± 9 mg/day). The most common treatment- limiting adverse events in topiramate- treated patients were paresthesia (5% ), nausea (3% ), concentration/attention difficulty (3% ), and somnolence (3% ). Adverse events were treatment limiting in 31.9% of topiramate patients and 9.5% of placebo patients. Conclusions: Topiramate was effective in the treatment of moderate to severe essential tremor. Tremor reduction was accompanied by functional improvements, such as in motor tasks, writing, and speaking.
