Dogs were the first animal to become domesticated by humans,and they represent a classic model system for unraveling the processes of *** compare Australian dingo eye contact and socialization with Basenji and German Shepherd dog(GSD)*** dingoes arrived in Australia 5,000–8,000 BP,and there is debate whether they were domesticated before their *** Basenji represents a primitive breed that diverged from the remaining breeds early in the domestication process,while GSDs are a breed dog selected from existing domestic dogs in the late *** conducted a 4-phase study with unfamiliar and familiar investigators either sitting passively or actively calling each *** found 75%of dingoes made eye contact in each *** contrast,86%of Basenjis and 96%of GSDs made eye *** also exhibited shorter eye-gaze duration than breed dogs and did not respond to their name being called ***,quantified as a canid coming within 1m of the experimenter,was lowest for dingoes and highest for *** sociability duration,dingoes spent less time within 1m of the experimenter than either breed *** compared with previous studies,these data show that the dingo is behaviorally intermediate between wild wolves and Basenji dogs and suggest that it was not domesticated before it arrived in ***,it remains possible that the accumulation of mutations since colonization has obscured historical behaviors,and dingoes now exist in a feralized retamed *** morphological and genetic data are required to resolve this conundrum.

Genetic Improvement of Willow for Bioenergy and Biofuels

Willows （Salix spp.） are a very diverse group of catkin-bearing trees and shrubs that are widely distributed across temperate regions of the globe. Some species respond well to being grown in short rotation coppice （SRC） cycles, which are much shorter than conventional forestry. Cop- picing reinvigorates growth and the biomass rapidly accumulated can be used as a source of renewable carbon for bioenergy and biofuels. As SRC willows re-distribute nutrients during the perennial cycle they require only minimal nitrogen fertilizer for growth. This results in fuel chains with potentially high greenhouse gas reductions. To exploit their potential for renewable energy, willows need to be kept free of pests and diseases and yields need to be improved without significantly increasing the requirements for fertilizers and water. The biomass composition needs to be optimized for different end-uses. Yields also need to be sustainable on land less productive for food crops to reduce conflicts over land use. Advances in understanding the physiology and growth of willow, and in the identification of genes underlying key traits, are now at the stage where they can start to be used in breeding programs to help achieve these goals.

Twenty-four hours intraocular pressure in keratoconic eyes assessed by applanation tonometry and Tono-Pen AVIA

Evaluating the performance of nanostructured materials as lithium-ion battery electrodes

The performance of the lithium-ion cell is heavily dependent on the ability of the host electrodes to accommodate and release Li＋ ions from the local structure. While the choice of electrode materials may define parameters such as cell potential and capacity, the process of intercalation may be physically limited by the rate of solid-state Li＋ diffusion. Increased diffusion rates in lithium-ion electrodes may be achieved through a reduction in the diffusion path, accomplished by a scaling of the respective electrode dimensions. In addition, some electrodes may undergo large volume changes associated with charging and discharging, the strain of which, may be better accommodated through nanostructuring. Failure of the host to accommodate such volume changes may lead to pulverisation of the local structure and a rapid loss of capacity. In this review article, we seek to highlight a number of significant gains in the development of nanostructured lithium-ion battery architectures （both anode and cathode）, as drivers of potential next-generation electrochemical energy storage devices.

Measures of patient radiation exposure during endoscopic retrograde cholangiography:Beyond fluoroscopy time

AIM:to determine whether fluoroscope time is a good predictor of patient radiation exposure during endoscopic retrograde ***:this is a prospective observational study of consecutive patients undergoing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography in a tertiary care *** related to radiation exposure were *** following measures were obtained:Fluoroscopy time(FT),dose area product(DAP)and dose at reference point(DoSERP).Coefficients of determination were calculated to analyze the correlation between FT,DAP and *** between FT and DAP/DoSRP was assessed using Bland Altman ***:Four hundred sixty-three data sets were *** time average was 7.3 *** related radiation accounted for 86%of the total DAP while acquisition films related radiation accounted for 14%of the *** any given FT there are wide ranges of DAP and DoSERP and the variability in both increases as fluoroscopy time *** coefficient of determination(R2)on the non transformed data for DAP and DoSERP versus FT were respectively 0.416 *** fluoroscopy use was the largest contributor to patient radiation exposure during endoscopic retrograde cholangiography(ERCP),there is a wide variability in DAP and DoSERP that is not accounted for by *** and DoSERP increase in variability as FT *** translates into poor accuracy of FT in predicting DAP and DoSERP at higher radiation ***:DAP and DoSERP in addition to FT should be adopted as new ERCP quality measures to estimate patient radiation exposure.

Iron oxide nanoparticles have become of great interest in the medical field for their potential uses in areas such as biomagnetic imaging and hypothermia cancer treatment. Traditionally, particles for these applications are produced through batch-based methodologies. Herein, we demonstrate an alternative continuous flow production method for the synthesis of Fe304 iron oxide nanoparticles. Advantages of continuous flow over the batch method include consistent formation of uniformly spherical particles, thorough mixing of reactants, and capacity for high-volume particle production. In this study, a continu- ous flow reaction mechanism was proposed in which stoichiometric control of reactants had the potential to control final particle size. The project was conducted under the supposition that the iron oleatelligand ratio in the precursor was the greatest size control factor, with a higher ratio resulting in smaller parti- cles. The resulting particles produced by this continuous method were characterized by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and magnetometry.

The interview was conducted on March 2nd, 2023 by Ioannis Solos and Charles Buck. william Morris has sustained practice since 1980. He has served on the California, Texas and Massachusetts Professional Associations, as well as the National Association. He has tendered 20 years of service to the field through academic medicine, earning a master’s degree in medical education to assist in developing Chinese medical doctoral programs and institutional review boards. He earned an oM.D. in 1988, a DAoM in 2002, and a Ph.D. focused on pulse diagnosis as clinical epistemology in 2009. He has published five books, including TCM Case Studies Dermatology, Li Shi-zhen Pulse Studies: An Illustrated Guide, Neoclassical Pulse Diagnosis, Cycles in Medical Astrology, and Transformation: Treating Trauma with Acupuncture and Herbs.
