Impact of Minimum Driveway Spacing Policies on Safety Performance:An Integrated Traffic Micro-Simulation and Automated conflict Analysis

A key strategy for successful access management is the adoption of driveway spacing guidelines that consider both safety and *** goal is to provide sufficient distance from one driveway to the next so that drivers can perceive and react to the conditions at each potential conflict point in *** DOTs across the country have adopted different driveway spacing standards that vary according to the access class and characteristics of the adjacent roadway,such as type of roadway,posted speed limit,and traffic *** the VISSIM microscopic traffic simulation tool and FHWA’s Surrogate Safety Assessment Model(SSAM),this research examined safety implications of four different driveway spacing policies representing 13 *** analysis involved calibrating the VISSIM model for an arterial roadway corridor in West columbia,Sc,and then using the calibrated model to simulate various operational changes to the corridor,including speed limits,traffic volumes,and the associated minimum driveway spacing criteria for the four different *** was used to analyze vehicle trajectories derived from VISSIM to determine the number of conflict *** results indicate that posted speed limit and traffic volume are the primary impact factors for driveway safety,and thus,these parameters should be considered in establishing minimum driveway *** from this study indicate that there are significant differences in safety impacts between the different driveway spacing policies adopted by various state DOTs.

A sharply transected spinal cord has been shown to be fused under the accelerating influence of membrane fusogens such as polyethylene glycol （PEG）（GEMINI protocol）. Previous work provided evidence that this is in fact possible. Other fusogens might improve current results. In this study, we aimed to assess the effects of PEGylated graphene nanoribons （PEG-GNR, and called ＂TexasPEG＂ when prepared as lwt% dispersion in PEG600） versus placebo （saline） on locomotor function recovery and cellular level in a rat model of spinal cord transection at lumbar segment 1 （L1） level. In vivo and in vitro experiments （n -- 10 per experiment） were designed. In the in vivo experiment, all rats were submitted to full spinal cord transection at L1 level. Five weeks later, behavioral assessment was performed using the Basso Beattie Bresnahan （BBB） locomotor rating scale. Immunohistochemical staining with neuron marker neurofilament 200 （NF200） antibody and astrocyt- ic scar marker glial fibrillary acidic protein （GFAP） was also performed in the injured spinal cord. In the in vitro experiment, the effects of TexasPEG application for 72 hours on the neurite outgrowth of SH-SYSY cells were observed under the inverted microscope. Results of both in vivo and in vitro experiments suggest that TexasPEG reduces the formation of glial scars, promotes the regeneration of neurites, and thereby contributes to the recovery of locomotor function of a rat model of spinal cord transfection.

BAcKGROUND Sickle cell hepatopathy(ScH)is an inclusive term referring to any liver dysfunction among patients with sickle cell *** sickle cell intrahepatic cholestasis is one of the rarest and most fatal presentations of *** present the 23rd reported case of liver transplantation(LT)for ScH;a rare case of acute sickle cell intrahepatic cholestasis managed with LT from a hepatitis c virus(HcV)nucleic acid amplification test positive *** SUMMARY A 29-year-old male with a past medical history of sickle cell disease presented with vaso-occlusive pain *** examination,he had jaundice and a soft,nontender *** he was alert and fully oriented;within 24 h he developed new-onset *** evaluation was notable for hyperbilirubinemia,leukocytosis,anemia,thrombocytopenia,acute kidney injury and elevated international normalized ratio(INR).Imaging by ultrasound and computed tomography scan suggested a cirrhotic liver morphology with no evidence of biliary ductal *** patient was diagnosed with acute sickle cell intrahepatic cholestasis after excluding competing etiologies of acute liver *** underwent LT from an HcV nucleic acid amplification test positive donor 9 d after initial *** liver explant was notable for widespread sinusoidal dilatation with innumerable clusters of sickled red blood cells and *** postoperative day 3,HcV RNA was detectable in the patient's peripheral blood and anti-HcV therapy with glecaprevir/pibrentasvir was initiated on postoperative day *** subsequently achieved sustained virologic response after completing 3 mo of therapy and has been followed clinically for 12 mo *** This case highlights the utility of LT as a viable treatment option for acute sickle cell intrahepatic cholestasis.

AIM: To determine if there is a reasonable prospect of success of a re-use liver ***: We systematically searched for reports of liver graft re-use using electronic searches of PubMed and Web of Knowledge. We performed hand searches of references lists of articles reporting re-use of ***: A systematic review of the literature reveals 28 liver transplantations using previously transplanted grafts. First and second recipients ranged in age from 4 to 72 years and 29 to 62 years respectively. Liver disease in the first recipient was varied including 5(18%) patients with fulminant liver failure who died subsequently of cerebral edema. The second transplanta-tion was performed after a median interval of 5 d(one day-13 years). Viral hepatitis was present in 3(11%) of the initial recipients and in 8(29%) of final recipients. Hepatocellular carcinoma was present in 6(21%) of the final recipients. Early survival after the final transplantation was 93%, whereas long-term survival was 78% with a mean follow-up of 23.3(3-120) ***: Outcomes of transplantation using previously transplanted grafts in this select population are similar to those seen with conventional grafts.

The flux of geoneutrinos at any point on the Earth is a function of the abundance and distribution of radioactive elements within our planet. This flux has been successfully detected by the 1-kt Kam LAND and 0.3-kt Borexino detectors, with these measurements being limited by their low statistics. The planned 20-kt JUNO detector will provide an exciting opportunity to obtain a high statistics measurement, which will provide data to address several questions of geological importance. This paper presents the JUNO detector design concept, the expected geo-neutrino signal and corresponding backgrounds. The precision level of geo-neutrino measurements at JUNO is obtained with the standard least-squares method. The potential of the Th/U ratio and mantle measurements is also discussed.
