Optimization of chemistry and process parameters for control of intermetallic formation in Mg sludges

Intermetallic formation in sludge during magnesium(Mg)melting,holding and high pressure die casting practices is a very important ***,very often it is overlooked by academia,original equipment manufacturers(OEM),metal ingot producers and even die *** aim of this study was to minimize the intermetallic formation in Mg sludge via the optimization of the chemistry and process *** Al8Mn5 intermetallic particles were identified by the microstructure analysis based on the Al and Mn *** design of experiment(DOE)technique,Taguchi method,was employed to minimize the intermetallic formation in the sludge of Mg alloys with various chemical compositions of Al,Mn,Fe,and different process parameters,holding temperature and holding *** sludge yield(SY)and intermetallic size(IS)was selected as two *** optimum combination of the levels in terms of minimizing the intermetallic formation were 9 wt.%Al,0.15 wt.%Mn,0.001 wt.%(10 ppm)Fe,690℃ for the holding temperature and holding at 30 mins for the holding time,*** best combination for smallest intermetallic size were 9 wt.%Al,0.15 wt.%Mn,0.001 wt.%(10 ppm)Fe,630℃ for the holding temperature and holding at 60 mins for the holding time,*** groups of sludge factors,Chemical Sludge(CSF),Physical Sludge(PSF)and Comprehensive Sludge Factors(and CPSF)were established for prediction of sludge yields and intermetallic sizes in Al-containing Mg *** CPSF with five independent variables including both chemical elements and process parameters gave high accuracy in prediction,as the prediction of the PSF with only the two processing parameters of the melt holding temperature and time showed a relatively la.ge deviation from the experimental *** Chemical Sludge Factor was primarily designed for small ingot producers and die casters with a limited melting and holding capacity,of which process parameters could be fixed *** Physical Sludge Factor could be used f

Acute pancreatitis(AP)is a leading cause of gastrointestinal-related hospitalizations in the United States,resulting in 300000 admissions per year with an estimated cost of over$2.6 billion *** severity of AP is determined by the presence of pancreatic complications and end-organ *** moderate/severe pancreatitis can be associated with significant morbidity and mortality,the majority of patients have a mild presentation with an uncomplicated course and mortality rate of less than 2%.Despite favorable outcomes,the majority of mild AP patients are admitted,contributing to healthcare cost and *** this Editorial we review the performance of an emergency department(ED)pathway for patients with mild AP at a tertiary care center with the goal of reducing hospitalizations,resource utilization,and costs after several years of implementation of the *** discuss the clinical course and outcomes of mild AP patients enrolled in the pathway who were successfully discha.ged from the ED compared to those who were admitted to the hospital,and identify predictors of successful ED discha.ge to select patients who can potentially be triaged to the *** conclude that by implementing innovative clinical pathways which are established and reproducible,selected AP patients can be safely discha.ged from the ED,reducing hospitalizations and healthcare costs,without compromising clinical *** also identify a subset of patients most likely to succeed in this pathway.

Chlorantraniliprole exposure a.gravates high-fat diet-induced metabolic disorders in mice by regulating gut microbiota and its metabolites

Food contaminants， particularly insecticides， are important factors contributing to obesity and other adverse effects. As the most widely used diamide insecticide worldwide， chlorantraniliprole (CP) is ubiquitous in food and the environment. However， the influence of CP on obesity and the gut microbiota remains unknown. In this study， we administered CP/carboxymethyl cellulose sodium to C57BL/6J mice with a high-fat diet (HFD) via.gavage for 13 weeks. The CP exposure induced significant increases in body weight gain， fat mass， serum total cholesterol (TC)， and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). Moreover， CP a.gravated the imbalance in the gut microbiota by increasing the relative abundance of obesity-associated bacteria and reducing the relative abundance of beneficial bacteria. Based on unta.geted metabolomics analysis， CP was found to be involved in the regulation of pathways including ‘alanine， aspartate and glutamate metabolism’ and ‘a.ginine and proline metabolism’. Notably， CP exposure primarily induced alterations in microbial metabolites within these pathways， such as L-(+)-aspartic acid and L-glutamic acid. Additionally， individual metabolites， such as the lipid mediator (oleoyl ethanolamide)， also demonstrated alterations upon CP exposure. Furthermore， Spearman correlation analysis revealed several noteworthy associations between microbial alterations， metabolite cha.ges， and phenotypes. The results of the study demonstrate a connection between microbiota， metabolites， and the effects of CP exposure on HFD-induced obesity， elucidating the critical role of the gut microbiota and its metabolites in the toxic effects of CP.

Multi-objective method of selecting performance-based local climatic zones using binomial logistic regression in warm and humid climate

Urban a.glomeration is a serious concern due to its high energy usage and impact on the local *** countries strive to determine the development path to optimize energy *** present study aims to examine the local climatic zones(LCZs)performance in warm and humid climate through a multi-objective approach for the residential *** performance is assessed by evaluating the urban microclimate and cooling load consumption for both summer and winter months using binomial logistic *** study concludes that LCZ 2_(3)(compact mid-rise with open low-rise)and LCZ 6_(B)(open low-rise with scattered trees)perform better for 80%and 50%of total hours in warm and humid *** also proves the presence of significant performance differences between mid-rise and low-rise *** intra-zonal differences between the climatic variables are higher than the inter-zonal differences due to the impact of land surface temperature(LST).The high aspect ratio and low sky view factor of LCZ 2_(3) help the residents in that morphology in enhancing better thermal comfort and reducing cooling load *** present study contributes to building regulation policymakers by providing information on the suitable morphology for warm and humid climate.

The effect of caloric restriction on genetical pathways

Energy restriction is defined as reducing nutrient intake without dra.ging the organism into malnutrition. Energy restriction is preferred because it is a non-genetic intervention that increases life expectancy. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD~+)and adenosine monophosphate(AMP)levels, which are the indicators of intracellular energy deficiency, increase with energy restriction. The increase in NAD~+ level stimulates sirtuin(SIRT)enzymes, and the increase in AMP level stimulates AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK). Various mechanisms are regulated by stimulating these enzymes. By Forkhead box O(FoxO)transcription factors, the ability of resistance to oxidative stress increases, and antioxidant genes, DNA repair, and autophagy genes are stimulated. Apoptosis is induced by stimulation of the p53 protein, and tumor growth is suppressed by the disruption of aging cells. The suppression of phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K)-/-Akt, and therefore mTOR signal stimulates autophagy and mitophagia, and cleanses damaged cells and organelles. Mitochondrial biogenesis is stimulated, antioxidant capacity increases, and inflammatory response decreases. Adipose tissue and lipid metabolism are regulated by the regulation of fatty acid synthesis and oxidation. As a consequence, the effects of caloric restriction on cellular metabolism are regulated through the genetic pathways.

Esophageal inserted subclavian catheter:a rare complication

Central venous catheterization(CVC) is an invasive procedure for administering fluids,nutrients,and drugs;monitoring central venous pressure;performing pulmonary artery catheterization;and placing transvenous pacemakers in intensive care units and all specialties,from anesthesia to emergency medicine,for the treatment of trauma and hemodynamically unstable pediatric and adult patients.[1,2]Complications have been observed in more than 15% of patients who underwent ***,infectious,and thrombotic complications have been reported in 5%–19%,5%–26%,and 2%–26% of patients,respectively.[3] Malposition,on the other hand,is common in subclavian catheter insertion and is usually associated with an initially misplaced guidewire.[4]

Improving clinical outcomes of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma:Role of antiviral therapy,conversion therapy,and palliative therapy

In this editorial,I comment on three articles published in the recent issue of the World Journal of gastrointestinal *** carcinoma(HCC)is an important public health concern,and there are three articles on the theme of HCC in this issue.I focus on the articles by Mu et al,Chu et al,and Ma et al for this *** these articles may be considered as low-quality evidence,and the results cannot be generalized to non-hepatitis-B or C virus patients,the discussion of the results is *** addition,though all the articles are from China,the relevance of the results is not *** resection is the main form of curative treatment modality owing to a donor liver shortage,surgeons need to be aware that preoperative long-course antiviral therapy can improve clinical outcomes by reducing postoperative liver dysfunction and recurrence of HCC following ***,patients with super-giant HCC(defined as≥15 cm diameter)should also be carefully considered for liver resection,and if it is unresectable upfront,then a combination of liver-directed therapy and systemic therapy may downstage ***,following downstaging,the patient qualifies for liver resection based on locally prevalent resectability criteria,then such therapy is labelled as conversion(from unresectable to resectable)*** unresectable patients treated by a combination of treatment options,serological markers like neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and alpha-fetoprotein are reported to predict treatment responses,thus enabling personalized medicine.

The kinetics of Criegee intermediates are important for atmospheric ***,the quantitative kinetics of Criegee intermediates are still very limited,especially for those with hydroxy ***,we calculate rate constants for the unimolecular reaction of E-glycolaldehyde oxide[E-hydroxyethanal oxide,E-(CH_(2)OH)CHOO],for its reactions with H_(2)O and(H_(2)O)_(2),and for the reaction of the E-(CH_(2)OH)CHOO…H_(2)O complex with H_(2)*** the highest level of electronic structure,we use W3X-L//CCSD(T)-F12a/cc-pVDZ-F12 for the unimolecular reaction and the reaction with water and W3X-L//DF-CCSD(T)-F12b/jun-cc-pVDZ for the reaction with 2 water *** the dynamics,we use a dual-level strategy that combines conventional transition state theory with the highest level of electronic structure and multistructural canonical variational transition state theory with small-curvature tunneling with a validated density functional for the electronic structure.
