AIM: To determine the prevalence of SLC25A13 mutations in the Thai population.METHODS: A total of 1537 subjects representing the Thai population were screened for a novel pathologic allele ***1? (c.2T > C) and six previously known common SLC25A13 mutations: [I] (c.851_854delGTAT), [II] (***11 + 1G > A), [III] (c.1638_1660dup), [IV] (p.S225X), [V] (IVS13 + 1G > A), and [XIX] (***16ins3kb) using a newly developed TaqMan and established HybProbe assay, respectively. Sanger sequencing was employed for specimens showing an aberrant peak to confirm the targeted mutation as well as the unknown aberrant peaks detected. Frequencies of the mutations identified were compared in each region. Carrier frequency and disease prevalence of citrin deficiency caused by SCL25A13 mutations were estimated.RESULTS: ***1? was identified in the heterozygous state in 85 individuals, giving a carrier frequency of 1/18, which suggests possible selective advantage of this variant. The question of ***1? homozygote lethality remains unanswered which may serve as an explanation as to why this homozygote has yet to be identified in patients/controls even with high allele frequency. The ***1? mutation has rarely been studied in populations other than Thai and Chinese; therefore, may have been overlooked. Development of the TaqMan assay in the present study would allow a simple, rapid, and cost-effective method for mass screening. Heterozygous mutations: [XIX] and [I] were identified in 17 individuals, giving a carrier rate of 1/90 and a calculated homozygote rate of 1/33000. Two novel variants, ***11 + 17C > G and c.1311C > T, of unknown clinical significance were identified at low frequency.CONCLUSION: This study highlighted the current underestimation of citrin deficiency and suggests the possible selective advantage of the ***1? allele.

Background Helminthiases are highly endemic in Southeast Asia,including the Lao People’s Democratic Republic(Lao PDR).This study aimed to assess the current intestinal helminth infections and the associated risk factors among adults across the Lao *** A cross-sectional survey was conducted in 165 villages across 17 provinces and the Vientiane Capital,Lao PDR.A multi-stage sampling method was employed to select the adult study participants(≥18 years).Data collection included(1)interview of the study participants,(2)physical measurements,and(3)a fve gram of stool sample from each study participant was collected and preserved in 10%formalin solution for intestinal helminth detection using formalin-ether concentration technique(FECT).Descriptive analysis was used to describe the socio-demographic characteristics of study participants and the prevalence of intestinal helminth *** regressions were applied to test the association between intestinal helminth infection and individual risk factors.A P-value below 0.05 was considered statistically *** A total of 2800 study participants were *** average age was 46.0 years;57.8%were ***,30.9%,8.6%and 1.5%of study participants were infected with one,two,or three diferent intestinal helminth species,*** the study participants 21.6%were infected with hookworm,18.8%with Opisthorchis viverrini-like(Ov-like)infection,4.8%with Strongyloides stercoralis,2.3%with Ascaris lumbricoides,1.5%with Trichuris trichiura,and 3.3%with Taenia ***-like infection was of high prevalence in the southern(28.8%)and central(21.3%)provinces,while hookworm(26.3%),***(7.3%),***(3.1%),and Taenia spp.(4.2%)were prevalent in the northern *** analysis showed that men were more likely to be infected with hookworm[adjusted odds ratio(aOR)=1.2,P=0.019].The Lao-Tai ethnic group had a 5.2-times(P<0.001)higher chance of having Ov-like infection than the minorit

Effect of chemical and thermal activations on the properties of rice husk ash-based solidified wastes

Strength development, leachability and microstructure of heavy metals from the solidified waste using synthesis rice husk ash （sRHA） and lime blended at the weight ratio of 1：1 were used as binders. The heavy metal-containing sludge was used at the level of 0 wt.%, 30 wt.%, and 50 wt.% dry weight, respectively. The sample specimens with and without 1.5 wt.% of sodium silicate （SiO2/Na2O = 1.0） were cured under the ambient condition and elevated temperature curing at 50℃ for 24 hr. Experimental results showed that the introduction of sodium silicate solution and elevated temperature curing to sRHA-based solidified waste containing 30 wt.% of heavy metal sludge gave one day strength of 20 kg/cme compared to 0.9 kg/cm^2 for the control sample. XRD patterns indicated that most metal-sulfides present in the sludge were appeared in the solidified waste and SEM coupled with EDX techniques reveal these metal-sulfide particles were trapped within the lime-sRHA matrices. In addition, cumulative leaching behavior by tank test （EA NEN 7375：2004） showed that solidified waste containing up to 30 wt.% of heavy metal sludge was suitable to dispose in a secured landfill.

Mobile sensors’patrol path planning in unobservable border region

Purpose-The border control becomes challenging when a protected region is large and there is a limited number of border *** research paper proposes a novel heuristic-based patrol path planning scheme in order to efficiently patrol with resource ***/methodology/approach-The trespasser influencing score,which is determined from the environmental characteristics and trespassing statistic of the region,is used as a heuristic for measuring a chance of approaching a *** patrol plan is occasionally updated with a new trespassing statistic during a border *** performance of the proposed patrol path planning scheme was evaluated and compared with other patrol path planning schemes by the empirical experiment under different ***-The result from the experiment indicates that the proposed patrol planning outperforms other patrol path planning schemes in terms of the trespasser detection rate,when more environment-aware trespassers are in the *** limitations/implications-The experiment was conducted through simulated agents in simulated environment,which were assumed to mimic real behavior and ***/value-This research paper contributes a heuristic-based patrol path planning scheme that applies the environmental characteristics and dynamic statistic of the region,as well as a border surveillance problem model that would be useful for mobile sensor planning in a border surveillance application.

Effect of acupuncture on heart rate variability during prolonged high-intensity training in soccer players

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of acupuncture therapy compared with sham acupuncture on heart rate variability(HRV) in 24 elite soccer players during 4-week, high-intensity training ***: The subjects were randomly divided into two groups: acupuncture group(AG) and sham acupuncture group(SG). In addition, AG had been implemented two times/week to stimulate Zusanli(ST 36), Hegu(LI 4), Shenshu(BL 23), and Chize(LU5). While SG, had been applied to utilize a special "placebo-needle" technique on the same ***'s more, the HRV parameters were calculated before and after interventions, ***: First, stress index(SI) had a significantly increased in SG(P = 0.031) compare pre-test with post-test, however, no significantly difference in AG(P = 0.102). Secondly, standard deviation of N-N intervals(SNDD) have enormously significantly high-er in AG when comparing baseline with post therapy(P = 0.001), while, declined in SG(P = 0.827).Meanwhile, the root mean square of successive differences(RMSSD) were significant differences in AG(P = 0.023). What's more, when the high-frequency(HF) were significantly higher in AG(P = 0.047) after receiving the acupuncture therapy, the lowe-frequency(LF) power were decreased but no significant in AG and SG. Comparing with pre-experiment, the ratio of LF/HF was lower in AG, but higher in SG. Furthermore, it was significant difference when compare the post-experiment parameters of AG with SG(P = 0.015). And HF parameters have significance(P = 0.005) compare between two groups during the ***: Based on evidence, acupuncture therapy on special acupoints could strengthen the parasympathetic nervous activity and modulates the balance between parasympathetic and sympathetic activity in soccer players while they engage in high-intensity training.

Pharmacodynamic profiling of optimal sulbactam regimens against carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii for critically ill patients

Objective: To study the minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) of sulbactam against carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii(CR-AB) and to determine the dosage regimens reaching target time of free drug concentration remaining above the MIC(f T>MIC). Methods: Clinical isolates of CR-AB from patients admitted to Phramongkutklao Hospital, Thailand from January 2014 to December 2015 were obtained. The MIC of sulbactam for each CR-AB isolate was determined using the agar dilution method. Each sulbactam regimen was simulated using the Monte Carlo technique to calculate the probability of target attainment(PTA) and the cumulative fraction of response(CFR) in critically ill patients. PTA was defined by how likely a specific drug dose was to reach 40% and 60% f T>MIC. The CFR was the probability of drug dose covering the MIC range of CR-AB. Dosing regimens reaching above 80% of PTA and CFR, were considered as the optimal dosage for documented and empirical therapy, respectively. Results: A total of 118 CR-AB isolates were included in the study. The percentile at the fiftieth and ninetieth MIC of sulbactam were 64 and 192 μg/m L, respectively. For a MIC of sulbactam of 4 μg/m L, all dosage regimens achieved PTA target. However, only a sulbactam dosage of 12 g intravenous daily using 2-4 h infusion or continuous infusion that covered for isolates with a sulbactam MIC of 96 μg/m L, met the PTA or CFR targets. Conclusions: The MIC of sulbactam against CR-AB is quite high. The sulbactam dose of 12 g/day using prolonged infusion was required to achieve the target f T>MIC for CR-AB treatment.

Effect of scraping therapy on weightlifting ability

OBJECTIVE:To verify the effects of scraping therapy on the weightlifting ability by measuring the subjective sensation,and changes of ***:Five students,who have been trained for 3 years in a sport school in China were participated in this study.A course of scraping therapy was applied to intervene during the normal 7-week of weightlifting training *** ability of weightlifting,the scale of rating perceived exertion and serum biochemical markers were measured before and after the ***:Scraping therapy caused a significant increase in weightlifting ability(P<0.05).The level of rating perceived exertion remained stable with the increase in the training ***-globulinA was significantly increased(P<0.05),and creatine kinase and blood urea nitrogen were significantly decreased(P<0.05).No significant changes were observed in white blood cell,neutrophil,and ***:Scraping therapy may facilitate weightlifting ability mainly by decreasing weight sensation and improving serum biochemical parameters.

目的:通过系统综述国外心肺耐力/心肺适能(CRF)与学前儿童若干健康指标相关性研究,揭示心肺适能是评价学前儿童健康的重要指标,并提供该指标的测评方法。方法:从1999-2019年发表在PubMed,Scopus数据库的英文文献中,选取健康学前儿童(年龄在2.5~6.9岁)为对象,涉及心肺适能与儿童健康相关测评指标(含心血管健康、肥胖、身体活动、动作技能能力和认知发展)研究。结果:共有21项质量中高等的文献探讨了学前儿童心肺适能水平与健康测评指标的相关性:学前儿童低水平的心肺适能与高心血管疾病风险、肥胖/超重密切相关,中高强度的身体活动水平有助于学前儿童心肺适能的提高,极少数研究调查学前儿童动作和认知发展与心肺适能的关系,且结论不一致。提示我国学者需要重新审视学前儿童的心肺适能发展的重要性,并获得更多的证据。

前列腺增生症(BPH)属中老年男性泌尿外科的常见疾病。患者不具备手术指征的较多,因此药物成为治疗BPH的首选。中药锁阳为补肾壮阳的常用药,临床上用于BPH的治疗。锁阳具有调节肾功能、缓解肾阳虚、抗氧化、抗应激、抗疲劳以及激素样等方面作用;其含有黄酮类、三萜类、多糖类等多种活性成分。但其作用机制和药效物质基础尚不十分明确。为此本文综述了锁阳及其活性成分与治疗BPH相关的药理作用。
