Based on long-term measurements at three gauging stations,Toudaoguai,Fugu and Hequ,and one meteorological station,this article discusses the features of discharge (Q) and sediment concentration (CS) of a river reach of the Yellow River with a reservoir located in the Loess Plateau. The impacts of the local sub-watershed between Toudaoguai and Fugu gauging stations on sediment budget to the Yellow River have been analyzed. In addition,the deposition processes in the Tianqiao Reservoir have been investigated. Results show over 80% of the precipitation that falls in the local sub- watershed is unable to contribute to the Yellow River runoff process. It is found that the annual maximum sediment concentration is usually less than 30 kg/m3 during flood seasons at Toudaoguai Gauging Station,but the sediment concentration varies dramatically at Fugu Gauging Station. About 35% of the sediment eroded in the sub-watersheds between Toudaoguai and Fugu gauging stations was produced from the Huangfuchuan sub-watershed which has a drainage area accounting only for 10% of the drainage area between Toudaoguai and Fugu gauging stations. The Tianqiao Reservoir generally has deposition during the summer flood season,and scouring during the non-flood season. On average,over 85% of deposited sediment in the reservoir occurs in the 12 km long lower reservoir reach. The volume of annual deposition in the reservoir mainly depends on the volume of water from the local region between Hequ and Fugu gauging stations.

Advanced Metering Infrastructure(AMI)forms an important part in Smart *** the data effectively from smart meters to the Edge/Fog node requires an efficient routing *** Protocol for Low Power Lossy Area Network(RPL)is a standard routing protocol for IPv6 over Low Power Personal Area Network(6LoWPAN).In a Power Distribution system all the smart meters together form 6LoWPAN *** communicate with the fog router,which acts as the 6LoWPAN *** was evaluated using Cooja Network simulator for a power distribution network *** nodes which were far away from the fog node gave low Packet Delivery Ratio(PDR)and large End to End *** paper proposes an aggregation RPL scheme by modifying the existing Contiki *** smart meter nodes communicate to the aggregator,which communicates to the fog *** results show that the aggregation scheme has 35.6%increase in PDR,lesser hop count and 13.24%decrease in End to End delay on an average compared to existing RPL.

Rice(Oryza sativa)is an essential stable food for many rice consumption nations in the world and,thus,the importance to improve its yield production under global climate *** evaluate different rice varieties'yield performance,key yield-related traits such as panicle number per unit area(PNpM^(2))are key indicators,which have attracted much attention by many plant research ***,it is still challenging to conduct large-scale screening of rice panicles to quantify the PNpM^(2)trait due to complex field conditions,a large variation of rice cultivars,and their panicle morphological ***,we present Panicle-Cloud,an open and artificial intelligence(AI)-powered cloud computing platform that is capable of quantifying rice panicles from drone-collected *** facilitate the development of Al-powered detection models,we first established an open diverse rice panicle detection dataset that was annotated by a group of rice specialists;then,we integrated several state-of-the-art deep learning models(including a preferred model called Panicle-AI)into the Panicle-Cloud platform,so that nonexpert users could select a pretrained model to detect rice panicles from their own aerial *** trialed the Al models with images collected at different attitudes and growth stages,through which the right timing and preferred image resolutions for phenotyping rice panicles in the field were ***,we applied the platform in a 2-season rice breeding trial to valid its biological relevance and classified yield production using the platform-derived PNpM^(2)trait from hundreds of rice *** correlation analysis between computational analysis and manual scoring,we found that the platform could quantify the PNpM^(2)trait reliably,based on which yield production was classified with high ***,we trust that our work demonstrates a valuable advance in phenotyping the PNpM^(2)trait in rice,which provides a useful toolkit to enable rice br

The derivation of solutions to the Navier-Stokes (system of) equations (NSEs), in three spatial dimensions, has been an enigma as time can tell. This study wishes to show how to eradicate this problem via the usage of a recently proposed method for solving partial differential equations called the Generating Function Technique, or GFT for short. The paper will first quickly define the NSEs with and without an external force, then provide a quick synopsis of the GFT. Next, the study will derive solutions to these two major problems and give an analysis of the data concerning a specific set of criteria established by the Clay Mathematics Institute to determine the smoothness and existence of solutions. Results via GFT will show one can easily prove the existence of solutions to the NSEs with or without the presence of an external force. However, only the solutions to the NSEs will be globally bound.

Accurate individual identification is required to estimate survival rates in avian *** endangered species,non-invasive methods of obtaining individual identification,such as using molted feathers as a source of DNA for microsatellite markers,are preferred because of less disturbance,easy sample preparation and high *** the availability of many avian genomes,a few pipelines isolating genome-wide microsatellites have been published,but it is still a challenge to isolate microsatellites from the reference genome ***,we have developed an integrated tool comprising a bioinformatic pipeline and experimental procedures for microsatellite isolation and validation based on the reference *** have identified over 95000 microsatellite loci and established a system comprising 10 highly polymorphic markers(PIC value:0.49–0.93,mean:0.79)for an endangered species,saker falcon(Falco cherrug).These markers(except 1)were successfully amplified in 126 molted feathers,exhibiting high amplification success rates(83.9–99.7%),high quality index(0.90–0.97)and low allelic dropout rates(1–9.5%).To further assess the efficiency of this marker system in a population study,we identified individual sakers using these molted feathers(adult)and 146 plucked feathers(offspring).The use of parent and offspring samples enabled us to infer the genotype of missing samples(N=28),and all adult genotypes were used to ascertain that breeding turnover is a useful proxy for survival estimation in *** study presents a cost-effective tool for microsatellite isolation based on publicly available reference genomes and demonstrates the power of this tool in estimating key parameters of avian population dynamics.

Most plants are polyploid due to whole-genome duplications （WGD） and can thus have duplicated genes. Following a WGD, paralogs are often fractionated （lost） and few duplicate pairs remain. Little attention has been paid to the role of DNA methylation in the functional divergence of paralogous genes. Using high- resolution methylation maps of accessions of domesticated and wild soybean, we show that in soybean, a recent paleopolyploid with many paralogs, DNA methylation likely contributed to the elimination of ge- netic redundancy of polyploidy-derived gene paralogs. Transcriptionally silenced paralogs exhibit partic- ular genomic features as they are often associated with proximal transposable elements （TEs） and are pref- erentially located in pericentromeres, likely due to gene movement during evolution. Additionally, we provide evidence that gene methylation associated with proximal TEs is implicated in the divergence of expression profiles between orthologous genes of wild and domesticated soybean, and within populations.

Freshwater vertebrate and invertebrate prey species commonly rely on chemosensory information, including non-injury released disturbance cues, to assess local predation threats. We conducted laboratory studies to （1） determine if urea can function as a disturbance cue in juvenile convict cichlids and rainbow trout and （2） determine if the background level of urea influences the behavioral response to a subsequent pulse of urea （＇background noise＇ hypothesis）. In the first series of trials, juve- nile cichlids and trout were exposed to urea at varying concentrations （0 to 0.5 mg L-1 for cichlids and 0 to 1.0 mg L1 for trout）. Our results suggest that both cichilds and trout exhibited functionally similar responses to urea and conspecific disturbance cues and that increasing the concentration of urea results in an increase intensity of antipredator behaviour. In the second series of trials, we pre-exposed cichlids or trout to intermediate or high concentrations of urea （or a distilled water control） and then tested for the response to a second pulse of urea at at intermediate or high concentrations （versus a distilled water control）. Our results demon- strate that pre-exposure to urea reduces or eliminates the response to a second pulse of urea, supporting the background noise hy- pothesis. Together, our results suggest that pulses of urea, released by disturbed or stressed individuals, may function as an early warning signal in freshwater prey species
