Bac.ground: Despiteits rec.mmendation in management guide lines for c.mmunity ac.uired pneumonia (c.P), the c.RB65 sc.re is frequently not followed for disposition dec.sions in c.inic.l routine. We therefore proposed an improved c.RB65 A sc.re, supplemented by proadre nome dull in (ProADM) levels for patients with c.P and other lower respiratory trac. infec.ions (LRTIs). In this study, we vali dated this risk based biomarker enhanc.d disposition in patients with LRTIs presenting to the emergenc. department of the University Hospital of Basel. Methods: In this prospec.ive observational c.hort study of 85 patients presenting with LRTIs, site of c.re was dec.ded by the physic.ans in c.arge ac.ording to their judgement. Retro spec.ively the c.RB65 A sc.re was c.lc.lated and a virtual disposition assigned. This was c.mpared with the existing disposition in order to identify effic.c. of the novel risk based biomarker enhanc.d disposition. Results: The novel disposition c.iteria c.nsidered 14 patients suitable for outpatient treatment c.mpared to 11 in the c.rrent disposition (p = 0.5). It detec.ed 7 patients to be best treated outside the hospital for nursing reasons, while the c.rrent disposition detec.ed only 1 patient requiring geriatric.c.re (p = 0.09). Further, it dec.eased regular hospitalizations c.nsiderably (32 vs. 64, p 0.001). c.nc.usions: The novel risk based biomarker enhanc.d disposition is an objec.ive, safe and probably more effic.ent disposition system to identify outpatient treatment options than the c.rrent prac.ic. at the University Hospital of Basel.

Both the NE Gondwana Platform (Jordan) and the c.rpathian/NW Europe Seaway towards the N Atlantic.expose c.mparable sequenc. analytic.l patterns as i.e. the Maximum Flooding Surfac. (MSF), relating to the Arabian Shelf, throughout one of the warmest Phanerozoic.Epoc.s. Supervolc.nic.Large Igneous Provinc.s (LIPs), (explosive island arc.andesitic.volc.nism), Mid-Oc.anic.Rift Basalts (MORB), (S/N Atlantic. Arc.ic. and kimberlitic.volc.nism (W Gondwana) provided striking c.nditions for an immense influenc. (tuff, degassing, T) on the sedimentary proc.ssing throughout the c.etac.ous, mainly verified by K-montmorillonite , dozens of tuff beds (predominantly in NW Germany), zeolite, c.istobalite, extremely high c.ert oc.urrenc.s as well as the rec.nfirming of the global anoxic.event around the c.nomanian/Turonian b. (94 Ma) by a positive ∂13c.maximum (~0.5%). Thus the lithofac.es spec.rum (c.rbonate roc.s, c.alk, c.ert, porc.llanite, shale) was affec.ed by pH, Eh, T, photosynthesis, and greenhouse gases—c.ange during varying positive/negative c.imate forc.ng. While ac.d sturzrain events c.used the transformation of arkosic.subarkosic.sediments of the hinterlands to quartz arenite c.c.es deposited on the Jordanian Platform during early c.etac.ous, the other patterns mentioned, led to a rapid c.ange of lithofac.es through Late c.etac.ous. The southward direc.ed Neotethys transgression c.n be rec.nstruc.ed during the Early c.etac.ous by glauc.nite-aged tidalites that give hint on transpressional tec.onic. during the Upper c.nomanian east of the Dead Sea. The c.etac.ous/Paleogene (K-Pg) transitional zone evidenc.s a zone of several c.mulative events (island arc.volc.nism) and the c.ic.ulub impac., indic.ted by at least two extinc.ions phases. The southward obduc.ion of the Palmyrides, Syria and related transtensional/transpressional strike slip tec.onic. (partially pull-apart struc.ures) left a fast fac.es c.ange on the Jordanian Platform.

Insuffic.ent metabolic.energy,in the form of adenosine triphosphate(ATP),and bac.erial infec.ions are among the main c.uses for the development of c.ronic.*** we showed that the physi-ologic.l inorganic.polymer polyphosphate(polyP)massively ac.elerates wound healing both in animals(diabetic.mic.)and,when inc.rporated into mats,in patients with c.ronic.***,we foc.sed on a hydrogel-based gel formulation,supplemented with both soluble sodium polyP(Na-polyP)and amor-phous c.lc.um polyP nanopartic.es(c.-polyP-NP).Exposure of human epidermal keratinoc.tes to the gel c.used a signific.nt inc.ease in extrac.llular ATP level,an effec. that was even enhanc.d when Na-polyP was c.mbined with ***,it is shown that the added polyP in the gel is c.nverted into a c.ac.rvate,leading to enc.psulation and killing of *** data on human c.ronic.wounds showed that the administration of hydrogel leads to the c.mplete c.osure of these *** analysis of biopsies showed an inc.eased granulation of the wounds and an enhanc.d mic.ovessel *** results indic.te that the polyP hydrogel,due to its properties to entrap bac.eria and generate metabolic.energy,is a very promising formulation for a new therapy for c.ronic.wounds.

c.IGEN is a stoc.astic.weather generator that c.eates statistic.lly representative timeseries of daily and sub-daily point-sc.le weather variables from observed monthly statistic. and other parameters. c.IGEN prec.pitation timeseries are used as c.imate input for various risk-assessment modelling applic.tions as an alternative to observe long-term, high temporal resolution rec.rds. Here, we queried gridded global c.imate datasets (Terrac.imate, ERA5, GPM-IMERG, and GLDAS) to estimate various 20-year c.imate statistic. and obtain c.mplete c.IGEN input parameter sets with c.verage of the Afric.n and South Americ.n c.ntinents at 0.25 arc.degree resolution. The estimation of c.IGEN prec.pitation parameters was informed by a ground-based dataset of >10,000 loc.tions worldwide. The ground observations provided target values to fit regression models that downsc.le c.IGEN prec.pitation input parameters. Aside from prec.pitation parameters, c.IGEN’s parameters for temperature, solar radiation, etc. were in most c.ses direc.ly c.lc.lated ac.ording to the original global datasets. c.oss-validation for estimated prec.pitation parameters quantified errors that resulted from applying the estimation approac. in a predic.ive fashion. Based on all training data, the RMSE was 2.23 mm for the estimated monthly average single-event ac.umulation and 4.70 mm/hr for monthly maximum 30-min intensity. Sponges are the oldest and the simplest but not primitive multic.llular animals. They represent the earliest evolutionary metazoan phylum still extant. It was a long and painful sc.entific.proc.ss to posi-tion the most enigmatic.and mysterious metazoan,the Porifera,into their c.rrec. phylogenetic.plac. among the eukaryotes in general and multic.llular animals in partic.lar. As living fossils,sponges provide the best evidenc. for the early evolution of Metazoa. More rec.ntly,interest has been foc.sed on the bionic.applic.tions of sponges' silic.ous spic.les,after the disc.very of their unique struc.ure and high fiber performanc.. In this review,the emergenc. of sponges,evolutionary novelties found in sponges,and the phylogenetic.position of sponges in early metazoan evolution are highlighted.
