Mitophagy in intracerebral hemorrhage:a new target for therapeutic intervention

Intracerebral hemorrhage is a life-threatening condition with a high fatality rate and severe sequelae.However,there is currently no treatment available for intracerebral hemorrhage,unlike for other stroke subtypes.Recent studies have indicated that mitochondrial dysfunction and mitophagy likely relate to the pathophysiology of intracerebral hemorrhage.Mitophagy,or selective autophagy of mitochondria,is an essential pathway to preserve mitochondrial homeostasis by clearing up damaged mitochondria.Mitophagy markedly contributes to the reduction of secondary brain injury caused by mitochondrial dysfunction after intracerebral hemorrhage.This review provides an overview of the mitochondrial dysfunction that occurs after intracerebral hemorrhage and the underlying mechanisms regarding how mitophagy regulates it,and discusses the new direction of therapeutic strategies targeting mitophagy for intracerebral hemorrhage,aiming to determine the close connection between mitophagy and intracerebral hemorrhage and identify new therapies to modulate mitophagy after intracerebral hemorrhage.In conclusion,although only a small number of drugs modulating mitophagy in intracerebral hemorrhage have been found thus far,most of which are in the preclinical stage and require further investigation,mitophagy is still a very valid and promising therapeutic target for intracerebral hemorrhage in the long run.

Ceria nanoparticles(CeO_(2) NPs)have become popular materials in biomedical and industrial fields due to their potential applications in anti-oxidation,cancer therapy,photocatalytic degradation of pollutants,sensors,etc.Many methods,including gas phase,solid phase,liquid phase,and the newly proposed green synthesis method,have been reported for the synthesis of CeO_(2) NPs.Due to the wide application of CeO_(2) NPs,concerns about their adverse impacts on human health have been raised.This review covers recent studies on the biomedical applications of CeO_(2) NPs,including their use in the treatment of various diseases(e.g.,Alzheimer's disease,ischemic stroke,retinal damage,chronic inflammation,and cancer).CeO_(2) NP toxicity is discussed in terms of the different systems of the human body(e.g.,cytotoxicity,genotoxicity,respiratory toxicity,neurotoxicity,and hepatotoxicity).This comprehensive review covers both fundamental discoveries and exploratory progress in CeO_(2) NP research that may lead to practical developments in the future.

The effects of deformation parameters and cooling rates on the aging behavior of AZ80+0.4%Ce

The extruded AZ80+0.4%Ce magnesium alloy was twisted in the temperature range of 300-380℃by using a Gleeble 3500 thermal simulation test machine with a torsion unit.The deformed cylindrical specimens were cooled at a cooling rate of 10℃/s or 0.1℃/s,respectively,and aged at 170℃.The microstructure analysis results showed that the grain size decreased with increasing specimen radial position from center(SRPC),and that the strong initial basal texture of the extruded magnesium alloy was weakened.Both continuous and discontinuous dynamic recrystallization mechanisms were involved in contributing to the grain refinement for all specimens investigated.And a novel extension twinning induced dynamic recrystallization mechanism was proposed for specimen deformed at 300℃.For the specimens deformed at 300℃and 340℃followed by a slow cooling rate(0.1℃/s),precipitates of various shapes(β-Mg_(17)Al_(12)),with the dominant precipitates being on the grains boundaries,appeared on the surface section.For specimen deformed at 380℃,lamellar precipitates(LPS)in the interiors of the grains were predominant.After aging,the LPS still dominated for specimens twisted at 380℃;however,the LPS gradually decreased with decreasing deformation temperatures from 380℃to 300℃.Dynamically precipitatedβ,especially those decorating the grain boundaries,changed the competition pictures for the LPS and precipitates of other shapes after aging.Interestingly,LPS dominated the areas for the center section of the specimens after aging regardless of deformation temperatures.Low temperature deformation with high SRPC followed by rapid cooling rate increased the micro hardness of the alloy after aging due to refined grain,reduced precipitates size,decreased lamellar spacing as well as strain hardening.

Three-Dimensional Cooperative Localization via Space-Air-Ground Integrated Networks

The space-air-ground integrated network(SAGIN)combines the superiority of the satellite,aerial,and ground communications,which is envisioned to provide high-precision positioning ability as well as seamless connectivity in the 5G and Beyond 5G(B5G)systems.In this paper,we propose a three-dimensional SAGIN localization scheme for ground agents utilizing multi-source information from satellites,base stations and unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs).Based on the designed scheme,we derive the positioning performance bound and establish a distributed maximum likelihood algorithm to jointly estimate the positions and clock offsets of ground agents.Simulation results demonstrate the validity of the SAGIN localization scheme and reveal the effects of the number of satellites,the number of base stations,the number of UAVs and clock noise on positioning performance.

Climate change has caused fluctuations in the frequency and severity of droughts,favoring extended periods of drought associated with anthropic actions and triggering other stressful abiotic effects that threaten terrestrial ecosystems.As climate warming intensifies,drought is a major challenge for forest growth.Pine(Pinus linn.)is an important genus of forest in the Northern Hemisphere and has a certain tolerance to drought.This article analyzes and reviews the advances in research about drought stress of major Pinus spp.plants in recent years and discusses understanding and future core problems.To adapt to water-deficient environments,pine plants adapt to drought by changing growth traits,closing some stomata on leaves,changing the growth and structure of roots,and adjusting their physiological activities.Moreover,the expression of specific genes is altered,causing changes in the expression of several signaling molecules and metabolites to counteract drought stress.

Effects of V Addition on Microstructural Evolution and Mechanical Properties of AlCrFe_(2)Ni_(2) High‑Entropy Alloys

The effects of vanadium addition on the microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of AlCrFe_(2)Ni_(2) high-entropy alloy(HEA)were investigated.The results showed that the AlCrFe_(2)Ni_(2)V_(0.2) HEA was composed of FCC phase,disordered BCC phase,and ordered BCC(B2)phase.With the increase in vanadium content,the formation of FCC phase was inhibited,and a transition from FCC phase to BCC phase occurred.The FCC phase disappeared completely when the value of x exceeds 0.4 in AlCrFe_(2)Ni_(2)V_(x) HEAs.Besides,the amplitude-modulated microstructure morphology transformed from a B2 phase matrix with dispersed BCC nano-phase into an alternating interconnected B2 and BCC phases.Vanadium element has the function of stabilizing BCC phase and B2 phase in AlCrFe_(2)Ni_(2)V_(x) alloys.The hardness of AlCrFe_(2)Ni_(2)V_(x) alloys increased from HV 332.4 to HV 590.7,while the yield strength increased from 765 to 1744.6 MPa with increasing vanadium content,which was mainly due to the decreasing content of FCC phase and the solid solution strengthening of vanadium element.At the same time,the compression ratio of the alloys decreased with the disappearance of the FCC phase.Among the alloys,the AlCrFe_(2)Ni_(2)V_(0.2) alloy possessed the most excellent comprehensive mechanical properties with yield strength,fracture strength,and compressive ratio 1231.1,2861.9 MPa,and 44.5%,respectively.

Organic photovoltaic(OPV)cells have demonstrated remarkable performance in small,spin-coated areas.Nevertheless significant challenges persist in the form of large efficiency losses due to the fact that the ideal morphology cannot be preserved in the transition of small-area cells to large-scale panels.Herein,the ternary strategy of incorporating the third component FTCC-Br into the active layer of PB2:BTP-eC9 is employed to improve absorption response,optimize morphology,and reduce charge recombination,leading to a power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 19.5%(certified as 19.1%by the National Institute of Metrology,China).Moreover,the addition of FTCC-Br can control the aggregation kinetics of the active layer during the film formation process,transferring the optimal morphology to the blade-coated large-area films.Based on the highly efficient ternary bulk heterojunction,the 50 cm^(2) OPVmodules exhibited a PCE of 15.2%with respect to the active area.Importantly,the ternary OPV cells retain 80%of its initial PCE after 4000 h under continuous illumination.Our work demonstrates that the addition of a third component has the potential to improve the efficiency and stability of large-area organic solar cells.

The protective effects of Xuebijing injection on intestinal injuries of mice exposed to irradiation

Background:Gastrointestinal(GI)injury is one of the most common side effects of radiotherapy.However,there is no ideal therapy method except for symptomatic treatment in the clinic.Xuebijing(XBJ)is a traditional Chinese medicine,used to treat sepsis by injection.In this study,the protective effects of XBJ on radiation-i nduced intestinal injury(RⅢ)and its mechanism were explored.Methods:The effect of XBJ on survival of irradiated C57BL/6 mice was monitored.Histological changes including the number of crypts and the length of villi were evaluated by H&E.The expression of Lgr5^(+)intestinal stem cells(ISCs),Ki67^(+)cells,villin and lysozymes were examined by immunohistochemistry.The expression of cytokines in the intestinal crypt was detected by RT-PCR.DNA damage and apoptosis rates in the small intestine were also evaluated by immunofluorescence.Results:In the present study,XBJ improved the survival rate of the mice after 8.0and 9.0 Gy total body irradiation(TBI).XBJ attenuated structural damage of the small intestine,maintained regenerative ability and promoted proliferation and differentiation of crypt cells,decreased apoptosis rate and reduced DNA damage in the intestine.Elevation of IL-6 and TNF-α was limited,but IL-1,TNF-β and IL-10 levels were increased in XBJ-treated group after irradiation.The expression of Bax and p53 were decreased after XBJ treatment.Conclusions:Taken together,XBJ provides a protective effect on RⅢby inhibiting inflammation and blocking p53-related apoptosis pathway.

Evaluating a novel protective agent against radiation-induced acute intestinal injury

Objective:To develop and synthesize a novel derivative of ethyl pyruvate,named TZC02,and investigate its radioprotective effects against ionizing radiation(IR)-induced intestinal injury in mice.Methods:Male C57BL/6J mice weighing(20±2)g in the survival experiment were randomly divided into five groups(n=10 in each):control group,IR group,IR+TZC02(50 mg/kg)group,IR+TZC02(100 mg/kg)group,and IR+TZC02(200 mg/kg)group.Mice's survival rates were monitored for 7 d.In other experiments,the male mice were randomly divided into three groups(n=5 per group):control group,IR group,and IR+TZC02(100 mg/kg)group.TZC02 was intragastrically administered 1 h before 12 Gy abdominalγ-ray irradiation(ABI)and 24 h,48 h after irradiation,respectively.Three days after IR exposure,small intestinal tissues were collected and the number of small intestinal crypts was determined using hematoxylin&eosin(H&E)staining.Immunohistochemical analysis was used to assess the regenerative capacity of the small intestine(SI)and radiation-induced damage,stemness markers or DNA repair surrogates,including Ki67,lysozyme,and villus.The expressions of histone H2AX phosphorylation(γH2AX)and caspase-3 were evaluated through immunofluorescence analyses.Additionally,in vitro cultured small intestinal organoids were employed to investigate the effects of TZC02 on SI regeneration after irradiation.Results:The administration of TZC02 significantly improved the 7 d-survival rate of mice exposed to 12 Gy ABI(P<0.05).Compared to the IR group,TZC02 treatment attenuated the decrease of SI Ki67-positive cells[(59.60±6.33)vs.(37.70±7.82),t=11.89,P<0.0001]and Paneth cells[(9.90±1.37)vs.(5.50±1.71),t=6.02,P<0.001]in five crypts,and reduced structural damage to the SI[villus height,(349.49±60.17)μm vs.(294.72±40.09)μm;t=3.39;P<0.05].TZC02 also significantly decreased the crypt apoptosis detected by caspase-3[(10.75±1.26)vs.(29.83±2.56),t=13.39,P<0.0001]and DNA damage detected by gH2AX[(10.40±1.14)vs.(29.60±2.70),t=10.13,P<0.0001].The organoid survival 7 d post-irradiation

大范围混沌系统由于能提供更宽的混沌区间,常用于保密通信等领域,已有的大范围混沌系统多为三维和四维系统,为了得到混沌特性更强和更复杂的系统,本研究提出了一个具有大范围超混沌状态且能产生多种共存吸引子的五维系统。通过用共存分岔图、共存相轨图、Lyapunov指数谱以及计算系统散度等方法去分析该五维系统的动力学特性。结果表明:该系统是一个耗散的超混沌系统;参数固定时,仅改变初始值系统能产生多个共存吸引子,当参数d取不同的值时,该系统会产生12种类型的共存现象,分别为周期1、周期2、周期4、拟周期、一涡卷吸引子、双涡卷吸引子等相互共存;当参数m在[0.1,4000]区间变化时,该系统会一直保持超混沌状态,并且m在[70,4000]范围内,系统的Lyapunov指数谱保持不变且维持3个正Lyapunov指数的超混沌状态,说明了该系统具有不变Lyapunov指数特性。此外,用现场可编程门阵列(FPGA)进行数字电路实现,在示波器上观察实验结果,验证了该超混沌系统的可实现性。
