Evolution of suspension bridge structural systems,design theories,and shape-finding methods:A literature survey

Modern suspension bridges exhibit a trend of lighter structures,more diversified structural forms,and longer spans,the latter already exceeding two kilometers.Bridge performance under dead and live loads depends on their structural and main cable systems,while cablesupported bridges especially rely on the design analysis and construction control of the main cable.This literary survey systematically analyzes the research progress and state-ofthe-art status quo in the structural systems and design theories of suspension bridges,focusing on the structural systems,main cable shape analyses,live load effect analyses,and emerging lucrative research directions.More than 100 reliable references have been surveyed.(1)Multi-span or multi-main cable schemes appeal to increasing attention,which may become a better choice in terms of structural systems in scenarios with extremely long spans and heavy loads.The cable layouts,such as spatial main cables and hybrid cable-stayed suspension systems have also become feasible approaches for enhancing structural stiffness.(2)The shape-finding analysis during the construction phase is more complex and has more essential factors than that of the completed bridge state.Refined theories combining analytical methods and finite element methods are more suitable for the shape-finding analysis of complex cable systems than any single theory of the two,especially for novel cable systems.(3)The live load effect analysis methods based on traditional deflection theory or modified/improved deflection theories still have wide applications,but the refined theory of treating hangers as discrete members is also constantly developing,which is expected to provide new ideas for more complex structural analysis under the different types of live loads and their distribution forms.

Multi-blade rubbing characteristics of the shaft-disk-blade-casing system with large rotation

Blade rubbing faults cause detrimental impact on the operation of aeroengines. Most of the existing studies on blade rubbing in the shaft-disk-blade-casing(SDBC) system have overlooked the elastic deformation of the blade, while some only consider the whirl of the rotor, neglecting its spin. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a dynamic model with large rotation for the SDBC system. The model incorporates the spin and whirl of the rotor, enabling the realistic reproduction of multiblade rubbing faults. To verify the accuracy of the SDBC model with large rotation and demonstrate its capability to effectively consider the rotational effects such as the centrifugal stiffening and gyroscopic effects, the natural characteristics and dynamic responses of the proposed model are compared with those obtained from reported research and experimental results. Furthermore, the effects of the rotating speed, contact stiffness,and blade number on the dynamic characteristics of the SDBC system with multi-blade rubbing are investigated. The results indicate that the phase angle between the rotor deflection and the unbalance excitation force increases with the increasing rotating speed,which significantly influences the rubbing penetration of each blade. The natural frequency of the SDBC system with rubbing constrain can be observed in the acceleration response of the casing and the torsional response of the shaft, and the frequency is related to the contact stiffness. Moreover, the vibration amplitude increases significantly with the product of the blade number under rubbing, and the rotating frequency approaches the natural frequency of the SDBC system. The proposed model can provide valuable insight for the fault diagnosis of rubbing in bladed rotating machinery.

Existence and asymptotics of normalized solutions for the logarithmic Schr?dinger system

This paper is concerned with the following logarithmic Schrodinger system:■ where Ω=RN or Ω ? RN(N≥3) is a bounded smooth domain,and ωi∈ R,μi,ρi> 0 for i=1,2.Moreover,p,q≥1,and 2 ≤ p+q ≤2~*,where 2~*:=2 N/(N-2).By using a Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality and a careful estimation of u log u2,firstly,we provide a unified proof of the existence of the normalized ground state solution for all 2≤p+q≤2~*.Secondly,we consider the stability of normalized ground state solutions.Finally,we analyze the behavior of solutions for the Sobolev-subcritical case and pass to the limit as the exponent p+q approaches 2*.Notably,the uncertainty of the sign of u log u2in(0,+∞) is one of the difficulties of this paper,and also one of the motivations we are interested in.In particular,we can establish the existence of positive normalized ground state solutions for the Brezis-Nirenberg type problem with logarithmic perturbations(i.e.,p+q=2~*).In addition,our study includes proving the existence of solutions to the logarithmic type Brezis-Nirenberg problem with and without the L2-mass constraint ∫_Ω |ui|2dx=ρi(i=1,2) by two different methods,respectively.Our results seem to be the first result of the normalized solution of the coupled nonlinear Schrodinger system with logarithmic perturbations.

Nonlinear modal coupling in a T-shaped piezoelectric resonator induced by stiffness hardening effect

The nonlinear modal coupling in a T-shaped piezoelectric resonator,when the former two natural frequencies are away from 1:2,is studied.Experimentally sweeping up the exciting frequency shows that the horizontal beam exhibits a nonlinear hardening behavior.The first primary resonance of the vertical beam,owing to modal coupling,exhibits an abrupt amplitude increase,namely the Hopf bifurcation.The frequency comb phenomenon induced by modal coupling is measured experimentally.A Duffing-Mathieu coupled model is theoretically introduced to derive the conditions of the modal coupling and frequency comb phenomenon.The results demonstrate that the modal coupling results from nonlinear stiffness hardening and is strictly dependent on the loading range and sweeping form of the driving voltage and the frequency of the piezoelectric patches.

The biomimetic construction of a microstructural–mechanical–electrical anisotropic microenvironment adaptive to the native cardiac tissue is essential to repair myocardial infarction(MI).Inspired by the 3D anisotropic characteristic of the natural fish swim bladder(FSB),a novel flexible,anisotropic,and conductive hydrogel was developed for tissue-specific adaptation to the anisotropic structural,conductive,and mechanical features of the native cardiac extracellular matrix.The results revealed that the originally stiff,homogeneous FSB film was tailored to a highly flexible anisotropic hydrogel,enabling its potential as a functional engineered cardiac patch(ECP).In vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated the enhanced electrophysiological activity,maturation,elongation,and orientation of cardiomyocytes(CMs),and marked MI repair performance with reduced CM apoptosis and myocardial fibrosis,thereby promoting cell retention,myogenesis,and vascularization,as well as improving electrical integration.Our findings offer a potential strategy for functional ECP and provides a novel strategy to bionically simulate the complex cardiac repair environment.

Methanol is an attractive C1 feedstock with high abundance and low cost in bio-manufacturing.However,the metabolic construction of cell factories to utilize methanol for chemicals production remains a challenge due to the toxic intermediates and complicated metabolic pathways.The group of Zhou rescued methylotrophic yeast from cell death and achieved high-level production of free fatty acids from methanol through a combination of adaptive laboratory evolution,rational metabolic engineering and multi-omics analysis.

The relationship between support and surrounding rock is of great significance to the control of surrounding rock in mining process.In view of the fact that most of the existing numerical simulation methods construct virtual elements and stress servo control to approximately replace the hydraulic support problem,this paper establishes a new numerical model of hydraulic support with the same working characteristics as the actual hydraulic support by integrating numerical simulation software Rhino,Griddle and FLAC3D,which can realize the simulation of different working conditions.Based on this model,the influence mechanism of the supporting strength of hydraulic support on surrounding rock stress regulation and coal stability in front of the top coal caving face in extra thick coal seam were researched.Firstly,under different support intensity,the abutment pressure of the bearing coal and the coal in front of it presents the “three-stage”evolution characteristics.The influence range of support intensity is 15%–30%.Secondly,1.5 MPa is the upper limit of impact that the support strength can have on the front coal failure area.Thirdly,within a displacement range of 2.76 m from the coal wall,a support strength of1.5 MPa provides optimal control of the horizontal displacement of the coal.

Revealing the key role of non-solvating diluents for fast-charging and low temperature Li-ion batteries

Fast-charging and low temperature operation are of vital importance for the further development of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),which is hindered by the utilization of conventional carbonate-based elec-trolytes due to their slow kinetics,narrow operating temperature and voltage range.Herein,an acetoni-trile(AN)-based localized high-concentration electrolyte(LHCE)is proposed to retain liquid state and high ionic conductivity at ultra-low temperatures while possessing high oxidation stability.We originally reveal the excellent thermal shielding effect of non-solvating diluent to prevent the aggregation of Lit sol-vates as temperature drops,maintaining the merits of fast Li transport and facile desolvation as at room temperature,which bestows the graphite electrode with remarkable low temperature performance(264 mA h g^(-1) at-20 C).Remarkably,an extremely high capacity retention of 97%is achieved for high-voltage high-energy graphitellNCM batteries after 250 cycles at-20 C,and a high capacity of 110 mA h g^(-1)(71%of its room-temperature capacity)is retained at-30°C.The study unveils the key role of the non-solvating diluents and provides instructive guidance in designing electrolytes towards fast-charging and low temperature LIBs.

Anthraquinone derivatives supported by Ti3C2(MXene)as cathode materials for aluminum-organic batteries

Due to the advantages of aluminum in abundance in the earth’s crust and safety,how to exploit these advantages to develop high-performance rechargeable aluminum batteries to replace traditional batteries has become an urgent issue.The key to solving this problem is to find suitable materials as cathode for aluminum batteries.Here,we propose a strategy in which Ti_(3)C_(2)(MXene)is used as a loaded structure for the organic anthraquinone derivative Benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b’]dithiophene-4,8-dione(BDTO).This strategy enables the self-stacking of monolayer MXene into a layered structure while embedding organics into it.The unique structure enables efficient and reversible intercalation/deintercalation of Al^(3+).At the same time,it exhibits excellent electrochemical performance,and its reversible capacity reaches229.8 mAh g^(-1).Moreover,it can still maintain a capacity of 134.9 mAh g^(-1)after 500 cycles.In addition.compared with BDTO,the rate performance of MXene@BDTO has also been greatly improved.Meanwhile,this unique layered structure also brings better electro nic co nductivity and ionic diffusion coefficient.We also demonstrate that the battery mechanism is a reaction between three C=O and one Al^(3+) through multiple characterization methods and density functional calculations(DFT).The advantages of MXene@BDTO provide a better research basis for the study of rechargeable Aluminum-Organic batteries,and provide a good idea to explore the development of Aluminum-Organic batteries.
