Soil organic carbon saturation deficit under primary agricultural managements across major croplands in China

Introduction:To generate information for the effective management of soil organic carbon(SOC)sequestration in Chinese croplands,we compared the additional organic carbon(C)that can be stabilized by fine soil particles(<20μm)with typical fertilization practices across soil types and climate *** data from 30 long-term experimental study sites across the major agricultural zones in China,we estimated stable SOC saturation deficit(SOC_(deficit))under no fertilization(CK),chemical fertilization(CF),straw plus CF(S+CF),and manure plus CF(M+CF).Stable SOC_(deficit)was defined as the difference between potential and current SOC stabilized by fine soil ***:Stable SOC_(deficit)values varied from 51%to 82%.Soils dominated by 2:1 clay minerals showed larger stable SOC_(deficit)than soils dominated by 1:1 clay minerals under each *** soils dominated by 2:1 clay minerals,stable SOC_(deficit)was significantly lower under M+CF(69%)than under CK,CF,and S+CF(78-82%)treatments,and it increased with increasing mean annual temperature(<10°C).In soils dominated by 1:1 clay minerals,stable SOC_(deficit)was considerably lower in paddy and paddy-upland than in upland soils,suggesting that paddies effectively stabilize C ***:Agricultural soils in China have considerable C sequestration potential,despite decades of fertilization *** manage soil C sequestration and model soil C dynamics effectively,factors such as soil mineral types,fertilization,and cropland use should be ***:Our results demonstrated that manure addition was the best fertilization method for improving soil fertility,whereas straw return in Chinese croplands should take into account climate mitigation in future.

Chromium oxide ceramic materials are widely used in high-temperature applications requiring high wear resistance and *** further improve the friction and wear performance and high-temperature sta-bility of chromium oxide thin films,this study attempted to dope rare earth(RE)element Y(yttrium)and deposited CrYO high-temperature self-lubricating ceramic thin films with different doping levels on the surface of IN718 alloys by using multi-arc ion plating *** deposited films were annealed at 1000 ℃ for 2 h under atmospheric conditions to analyze the changes in phase composition and thick-ness,and the friction and wear characteristics of the CrYO films were tested using a high-temperature friction and wear tester in the temperature range of 25-600 ℃.The results show that the CrYO-2 film has a dense multilayer structure,and the multilayer oxide film produces interlayer sliding under fric-tional shear,thus providing *** particular,the friction coefficients are as low as about 0.25 in the middle and high-temperature sections(400,600 ℃),which provides good high-temperature tribolog-ical *** addition,the doping of Y elements dramatically affects the formation of the oxide layer and the distribution of voids in the film,changing the diffusion process of the elements of the base ma-terial inside the film and at the film-air interface at high *** two annealing treatments,the film thickness increased from 1.81 to 2.25 μm,and the volume expansion of the films was effectively controlled compared with that of the Cr2O3 films.

Effects of heavy metal pollution of highway origin on soil nematode guilds in North Shenyang, China

Soil samples were collected with distance at 5, 20, 40, 80, 160, and 320 m from the Shen-Ha （Shenyang-Harbin） Highway, Northeast China, to investigate the effect of heavy metals of highway origin on soil nematode guilds. The contents of soil Pb, Cu, Zn, and the nematode community structure were analyzed. The results showed that the contents of total and available Pb, Ca, Zn varied significantly with the different distances from the highway. Pb was the main pollutant in the soils in the vicinity of Shen-Ha Highway. The zone from 20 to 40 m away from the highway was the most polluted area. The highest abundance of soil nematodes was found at 5 m while the lowest at 20 m away from the highway. Thirty six genera of nematodes belonging to 23 families were identified. Nematode guilds having different responses to soil heavy metals were classified into four types. Soil nematode guilds may act as a prominent indicator to heavy metal pollution of highway origin.

Sulfur resource recovery based on electrolytic manganese residue calcination and manganese oxide ore desulfurization for the clean production of electrolytic manganese

An environmentally friendly and resource-conserving route to the clean production of electrolytic manganese was developed,in which the electrolytic manganese residue(EMR)was initially calcined for cement buffering;then the generated SO2-containing flue gas was managed using manganese oxide ore and anolyte(MOOA)desulfurization;at last,the desulfurized slurry was introduced to the electrolytic manganese production(EMP).Results showed that 4.0 wt%coke addition reduced the sulfur of calcined EMR to 0.9%,thereby satisfying the cement-buffer ***-scale desulfurization showed that about 7.5 vol%of high SO2 containing flue gas can be cleaned to less than 0.1 vol%through a five-stage countercurrent MOOA *** desulfurized slurry had 42.44 g·L-Mn2+and 1.92 g·L-1 S2 O62-,which was suitable for electrowinning after purification,and the purity of manganese product was 99.93%,satisfy the National Standard of China YB/*** new integrated technology fulfilled 99.7%of sulfur reutilization from the EMR and 94.1%was effectively used to the *** MOOA desulfurization linked the EMP a closed cycle without any pollutant discharge,which promoted the cleaner production of EMP industry.

Study on the failure temperature of Ti/Pt/Au and Pt_5Si_2–Ti/Pt/Au metallization systems

The Ti/Pt/Au metallization system has an advantage of resisting KOH or TMAH solution etching. To form a good ohmic contact, the Ti/Pt/Au metallization system must be alloyed at 400℃. However, the process temperatures of typical MEMS packaging technologies, such as anodic bonding, glass solder bonding and eutectic bonding, generally exceed 400℃. It is puzzling if the Ti/Pt/Au system is destroyed during the subsequent packaging process. In the present work, the resistance of doped polysilicon resistors contacted by the Ti/Pt/Au metallization system that have undergone different temperatures and time are measured. The experimental results show that the ohmic contacts will be destroyed if heated to 500℃. But if a 20 nm Pt film is sputtered on heavily doped polysilicon and alloyed at 700℃ before sputtering Ti/Pt/Au films, the Pt5 Si2-Ti/Pt/Au metallization system has a higher service temperature of 500℃, which exceeds process temperatures of most typical MEMS packaging technologies.

Novel graphene enhancement nanolaser based on hybrid plasmonic waveguides at optical communication wavelength

Surface plasmon polariton （SPP） nanolaser, which can achieve an all-optical circuit, is a major research topic in the field of micro light source. In this study, we examine a novel SPP graphene nanolaser in an optoelectronic integration field. The proposed nanolaser consists of metallic silver, two-dimensional （2D） graphene and high refractive index semiconductor of indium gallium arsenide phosphorus. Compared with other metals, Ag can reduce the threshold and propagation loss. The SPP field, excited by coupling Ag and InGaAsE can be enhanced by the 2D material of graphene. In the proposed nanolaser, the maximum value of propagation loss is approximately 0.055 dB/~tm, and the normalized mode area is con- stantly less than 0.05, and the best threshold can achieve 3380 cm l simultaneously. Meanwhile, the proposed nanolaser can be fabricated by conventional materials and work in optical communication （1550 nm）, which can be easily achieved with current nanotechnology. It is also an important method that will be used to overcome the challenges of high speed, miniaturization, and integration in optoelectronic integrated technology.

Organic amendment effects on nematode distribution within aggregate fractions in agricultural soils

To evaluate the effect of organic amendments on soil nematode community composition and diversity within aggregate fractions,a study was initiated in agricultural soils with four-year organic *** samples were collected from the plow layer(0-20 cm)under three cornfield management scenarios:1)conventional cropping(CK,corn straw removal and no organic manure application);2)straw retention(SR,incorporation of chopped corn stalk);and 3)manure application(MA,chicken manure input).The soil samples were fractionated into four aggregate sizes,i.e.,>2 mm(large macroaggregates),1-2 mm(macroaggregates),0.25-1 mm(small macroaggregates),and1 mm)and only MA treatment strongly increased the mean weight diameter compared to the CK(P<0.05).The abundance of total nematodes and four trophic groups were affected significantly by the aggregate fractions and their higher abundance occurred in the larger *** effects of aggregate size on most nematode genera were *** in the small macroaggregates and microaggregates,and fungivores in the large macroaggregates were significantly different among *** percentage of bacterivores increased after the application of organic materials,while that of fungivores *** can be concluded that organic management significantly affects soil aggregation and soil characteristics within aggregates,and the aggregate size subsequently influences the distribution of nematode communities.

Analysis of interprovincial trade embodied carbon emissions in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and surrounding provinces: based on constructed MRIO Model

The interprovincial trade embodied carbon emissions plays an important role in the national emission reduction target among China's provinces. Furthermore, it will affect the smooth start-up of the national carbon trade market as well as the implementation of targets in 2030 for dealing with the climate change. Based on constructed MRIO model, this paper analyzes the embodied carbon emission trade flows among Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and surrounding regions such as Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Inner Mongolia. The results indicate that six provinces have formed different patterns of carbon trade balance, where Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei provinces are in a deficit position, while the other three provinces are in a surplus ***, Tianjin, and Hebei have transferred part of the carbon emissions to the other three provinces, which shows greater heterogeneity among various provinces and provincial different sectors. On basis of the conclusions, this paper puts forward some suggestions on provincial decomposition, responsibility distribution, and provincial collaborative reduction for national emission reduction targets.

Effects of Root Extracts from <i>Panax ginseng</i>C. A. Meyer (Araliaceae) of Different Ages on K562 Cells

It is well accepted in China that elder ginsengs have more bioactivity and value than younger ones. However, there is little research about the comparison of beneficial effects of ginsengs with different ages. In this study, ginseng root extracts (GRE) were extracted from ginsengs of 5, 8, 12, 14, and 16 years old, respectively, using 55% ethanol and their effects on human leukemic K562 cells within 48 hours were tested by using Cell Counting Kit-8. The results show that there are significant increases in the cell viability of all the GRE groups compared with Control group within 32 hours. Furthermore, the growth curves of GRE groups were obviously distinct from each other. The cell viability of 5-year-old and 8-year-old GRE groups kept a rapid increase while that of 16-year-old GRE group showed a strong fluctuation within 28 hours. Our results demonstrate that root extracts from ginsengs of different ages contain different bioactivity constituents and have different effects on cell.

Vertebrate life begins with fertilization,and then the zygote genome is activated after transient silencing,a process termed zygotic genome activation(ZGA).Despite its fundamental role in totipotency and the initiation of life,the precise mechanism underlying ZGA initiation remains *** existence of minor ZGA implies the possible critical role of noncoding RNAs in the initiation of ***,we delineate the expression profile of long noncoding RNAs(lncRNAs)in early mouse embryonic development and elucidate their critical role in minor *** with protein-coding genes(PCGs),lncRNAs exhibit a stronger correlation with minor *** H3K9me3 profiles can be observed between lncRNA genes and PCGs,and the enrichment of H3K9me3 before ZGA might explain the suspended expression of major ZGA-related PCGs despite possessing PolII ***,we identified the presence of PolII-enriched MuERV-L around the transcriptional start site of minor ZGA-related lncRNAs,and these repeats are responsible for the activation of minor ZGA-related lncRNAs and subsequent embryo *** study suggests that MuERV-L mediates minor ZGA lncRNA activation as a critical driver between epigenetic reprogramming triggered by fertilization and the embryo developmental program,thus providing clues for understanding the regulatory mechanism of totipotency and establishing bona fide totipotent stem cells.
