Nanowires(NWs)and nanobelts(NBs)have been widely studied and fabricated into a variety of nanoscale devices such as light emitting diodes(LEDs),lasers and biosensors.These unique materials have attracted sustained attention due to their novel properties,ease of growth,and the ability to fabricate highly engineered devices.However,their widespread application remains hindered due to the difficulty in integrating multiple NWs or NBs together for more complex devices.Integration of multiple NWs and NBs together on the same chip can enable the coupling of different devices to help realize complex on-chip architectures such as photonic integrated circuits or nanoscale diagnostic tools,which currently require outcoupling using larger components.In this letter we report the coupling of on-chip NB LEDs and photodetectors using a single,precisely self-aligned,cadmium sulfide(CdS)NB fabricated on a silicon-on-insulator(SOI)substrate.Electroluminescence generated by the CdS NB is waveguided and measured across the self-aligned device and demonstrates an on/off ratio of 10^2-10^3.This work describes a new method for fabricating and integrating more complex nanoscale devices that can enable advances in areas such as on-chip optical computational components and nanoscale optical biodiagnostics.

Caries is considered to be the most prevalent non-communicable disease in humans, mainly deriving from acidogenic bacterial biofilm and resulting in the demineralization and decomposition of hard dental tissue. Herein, a composite responsive foam brace loaded with magnesium organic framework (MPC) is designed for caries prevention and tooth remineralization. MPC can intelligently release organic antibacterial molecules (gallic acid) and mineralized ions (Mg2+, Ca2+ and PO43􀀀 ) under acidic conditions (pH < 5.5) of biofilm infection, regulating pH and killing bacteria. Additionally, due to the excellent photothermal conversion efficiency, MPC can further enhance the destruction of bacterial biofilm by inhibiting virulence genes and destroying bacterial adhesion under near-infrared light irradiation (808 nm). More importantly, MPC can not only reverse the cariogenic environment at both pH and microbial levels, but also promote self-healing of demineralized teeth in terms of both the micro-structure and mechanical properties.

Although deep learning methods have recently attracted considerable attention in the medical field,analyzing large-scale electronic health record data is still a difficult task.In particular,the accurate recognition of heart failure is a key technology for doctors to make reasonable treatment decisions.This study uses data from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care database.Compared with structured data,unstructured data contain abundant patient information.However,this type of data has unsatisfactory characteristics,e.g.,many colloquial vocabularies and sparse content.To solve these problems,we propose the KTI-RNN model for unstructured data recognition.The proposed model overcomes sparse content and obtains good classification results.The term frequency-inverse word frequency(TF-IWF)model is used to extract the keyword set.The latent dirichlet allocation(LDA)model is adopted to extract the topic word set.These models enable the expansion of the medical record text content.Finally,we embed the global attention mechanism and gating mechanism between the bidirectional recurrent neural network(BiRNN)model and the output layer.We call it gated-attention-BiRNN(GA-BiRNN)and use it to identify heart failure from extensive medical texts.Results show that the F 1 score of the proposed KTI-RNN model is 85.57%,and the accuracy rate of the proposed KTI-RNN model is 85.59%.

The rapid development of location-based social networks(LBSNs) provides people with an opportunity of better understanding their mobility behavior which enables them to decide their next location.For example,it can help travelers to choose where to go next,or recommend salesmen the most potential places to deliver advertisements or sell products.In this paper,a method for recommending points of interest(POIs)is proposed based on a collaborative tensor factorization(CTF)technique.Firstly,a generalized objective function is constructed for collaboratively factorizing a tensor with several feature matrices.Secondly,a 3-mode tensor is used to model all users' check-in behaviors,and three feature matrices are extracted to characterize the time distribution,category distribution and POI correlation,respectively.Thirdly,each user's preference to a POI at a specific time can be estimated by using CTF.In order to further improve the recommendation accuracy,PCTF(Partitionbased CTF) is proposed to fill the missing entries of a tensor after clustering its every mode.Experiments on a real checkin database show that the proposed method can provide more accurate location recommendation.

The effect of Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide(TFP)on the retrogradation property and aroma profile changes of tteok during storage was investigated.Results indicated that addition of TFP significantly increased the stability to thermal and mechanical shearing of starch,decreased short-term retrogradation,the hardness and the retrogradation enthalpy(ΔH)of tteok during storage,but had no significant effect on the amylopectin chain length of tteok.The possible mechanism for the retarding staling effect of TFP is related to the interaction between TFP and starch chains that interferes with the alignment of starch chains.Electronic nose and g as chromatography-mass spectrum(GC-MS)analysis results showed that the difference in the concentrations of volatile compounds and fatty acids of tteoks at different storage time gradually increased with the advancement of storage period.The addition of TFP to tteok inhibited the development of unpleasant volatile compounds,probably by delaying the oxidation and decomposition of lipids and preserving the antioxidant phenolic compounds in tteok,thus slowing down the flavor deterioration of tteok and contributing to flavor maintainace.Overall,this study could help food manufacturers to choose a high-effective and natural polysaccharide to control the retrogradation rate and flavor loss of tteok.

The hybrid dynamics of multi-rigid-body and multi-flexible-body system becomes the mainstream of multi-body dynamics.Currently there lacks a compact approach to model the hybrid dynamics,especially in modern machine tool application,due to the difficulty of solving the hybrid equations or the limitation of current software when dealing with the hybrid dynamics.The extended transfer matrix method（E-TMM）,which extends elements in three-dimensional space with higher matrixes,is proposed to simplify the modeling process of the hybrid dynamics.The E-TMM modeling approaches of 3 basic elements including 3D vibrant rigid body,joint and flexible body are studied in details.A parallel mill-turn tool spindle head unit driven by dual-linear motors is chosen as a plant to demonstrate the E-TMM modeling process.By using E-TMM,the spindle head unit is simplified as a topological network consisting of the three types of element,i.e.,3D vibrant rigid body,joint and flexible body,including 11 rigid bodies,14 joints and 1 3D-Timoshenko beam.Then the dynamic model of the system can be easily obtained by deducing the element-network by means of state vector transformation.The dynamic characteristics of the spindle head,such as natural frequencies,dynamic flexibility,etc.can be predicted by solving the obtained model.Experiment verification indicates that the E-TMM is valid with enough accuracy in the dynamic analysis of the parallel mill-turn tool spindle head.The E-TMM is capable of modeling the dynamics of machine tool structure with no requirements of deducing and solving the sophisticated differential equations.Moreover,the E-TMM provides a simple and elegant tool for hybrid dynamic analysis in future dynamic design of machine tools.

A novel Z-scheme ZnFe_(2)O_(4)/BiVO_(4)heterojunction photocatalyst was successfully synthesized using a convenient solvothermal method and applied in the visible light photocatalytic degradation of ciprofloxacin,which is a typical antibiotic contaminant in wastewater.The heterostructure of as-synthesized catalysts was confirmed using X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy characterizations.Compared with the singlephase counterparts,ZnFe_(2)O_(4)/BiVO_(4)demonstrated considerably enhanced photogenerated charge separation efficiencies because of the Z-scheme transfer mechanism of electrons between the composite photocatalysts.Consequently,the 30%ZnFe_(2)O_(4)/BiVO_(4)catalyst afforded a degradation rate of up to 97%of 20 mg/L ciprofloxacin under 30 min of visible light irradiation with a total organic carbon removal rate of 50%,which is an excellent activity compared with ever reported BiVO_(4)-based catalysts.In addition,the liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry and quantitative structure-activity relationships model analyses demonstrated that the toxicity of the intermediates was lower than that of the parent ciprofloxacin.Moreover,the as-synthesized ZnFe_(2)O_(4)/BiVO_(4)heterojunctions were quite stable and could be reused at least four times.This study thus provides a promising Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst for the efficient removal and detoxication of antibiotic pollutants from wastewater.

Charge-carrier photogeneration and extraction dynamics of polymer solar cells probed by a transient photocurrent nearby the regime of the space charge-limited current

To understand the complex behaviors of photogenerated charge carriers within polymer-based bulk-heterojunction-type solar cells,the charge-carrier photogeneration and extraction dynamics are simultaneously estimated using a transient photocurrent technique under various external-bias voltages,and a wide range of excitation intensities are analyzed.For this purpose,conventional devices with 80 nm thick active layers consisting of a blend of representative P3HT and PTB7 electron-donating polymers and proper electron-accepting fullerene derivatives were used.After the correction for the saturation behavior at a high excitation-intensity range nearby the regime of the space charge-limited current,the incident-photon-density-dependent maximum photocurrent densities at the initial peaks are discussed as the proportional measures of the charge-carrier-photogeneration facility.By comparing the total number of the extracted charge carriers to the total number of the incident photons and the number of the initially photogenerated charge carriers,the external quantum efficiencies as well as the extraction quantum efficiencies of the charge-carrier collection during a laser-pulse-induced transient photocurrent process were obtained.Subsequently,the charge-carrier concentration-dependent mobility values were obtained,and they are discussed in consideration of the additional influences of the charge-carrier losses from the device during the charge-carrier extraction that also affects the photocurrent-trace shape.

Influence of graphene oxide on electrochemical performance of Si anode material for lithium-ion batteries

We have developed a Si/graphene oxide electrode synthesized via ultrasonication-stirring method under alkaline condition. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM), transmission electron microscope(TEM), EDS dot-mapping and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM) results show that Si particles are evenly dispersed on the graphene oxide sheets. The electrochemical performance was investigated by galvanostatic charge/discharge tests at room temperature. The results revealed that Si/graphene oxide electrode exhibited a high reversible capacity of 2825 mAh/g with a coulombic efficiency of 94.6%at 100 mA/g after 15 cycles and a capacity retention of 70.8% after 105 cycles at 4000 mA/g. These performance parameters show a great potential in the high-performance batteries application for portable electronics, electric vehicles and renewable energy storage.
