The impact of Kuroshio water on the source water of the southeastern Taiwan Strait:numerical results

Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point （HACCP） is a systematic intervention management on food safety. Under its principles we established a simple and flexible quality control measure to direct hygiene of ready-to-eat （RTE） foods during processing and selling. 8 kinds of RTE meat products, including Stewed Duck Gizzard, Saline Chicken Claws, Soy Sauced Chicken Wings, Spiced Beef, Sweet and Sour Spareribs, Meatball, Melopsittacus Packages of Meat, Braised Trotter in Red Sauce were collected from four large-scale supermarkets located in Nanjing, china. Knives, chopping boards, trays, shovels, air, water and cotton swab of hands of sales staff were sampled to analysis the total number of colonies, coliform, salmonella, Shigella, and Staphylococcus Aureus. In two supermarket measures for controlling microbial contamination in these 8 kinds of RTE meat products were carried out according to the HACCP principles. The critical control points （CCPs） includes material selection, containers hygiene, the amount of cooked meat in the one pot, the heating temperature, cooked food sales time and storage temperature, health habits of the sales staff. The following measures were adopted for controlling microbial contamination:the health education to the employees on food safety knowledge, the establishment and implementation of standard operation procedure （SOP） for the cleaning and disinfection, enactment of the CCPs critical limits and control measures. Another two supermarkets were as the control. After one month the samples of above 8 kinds of RTE meat products were collected again for the microbial determination. According to the Chinese national standard GB2726-2005 （Hygienic standard for cooked meat products）, the results showed the passing rates of RTE meat products before and after intervention in intervention supermarkets were 70.8% and 96.9% respectively, and there was significantly difference （p＜0.05）. Model output from a Pacific basin-wide three-dimensional physical-biogeochemical model during the period of 1991 to 2008 was used to investigate the impact of Kuroshio water on the source water of the southeastern Taiwan Strait. Based on the characteristic salinities of both Kuroshio water and the South china Sea water, a Kuroshio impact index （KII） was designed to measure the degree of impact. The KII correlates significantly with the northeast-southwest component of wind stress, but the former lags the latter by approximately two months. The correlation coefficient between them increases from 0.267 4 to 0.852 9, with a lag time increasing from 0 to 63 days. The impact of Kuroshio Water is greater in winter and spring than in summer and autumn. At the interannual time scale, E1 Nifio and La Nifia events play an important role in impacting the KII. During E1 Nifio events, more Kuroshio water contributes to the source water of the southeastern Taiwan Strait. Conversely, during La Nifia events, less Kuroshio water contributes to the source water.

The accumulation of Pb in the food chain is one of the great concerns as it can cause chronic health problems and the available Pb is easily absorbed by crops. To shed light on Pb bioavailability in lead-contaminated agricultural soils of zhejiang Province, a series of plant growth experiments were performed in a greenhouse to select more suitable extractants from five commonly used extractants (0.1 M HCl, 1 M NH4OAc, 0.1 M CaCl2, DTPA-TEA and Mehlich 3). The results showed that 1 M NH4OAc can extract Pb best, indicating the Pb bioavailability, then, DTPA-TEA and 0.1 M HCl in the tested soils. In case 1 M NH4OAc was used as an extractant, the critical Pb concentrations in soils were 50.19 mg/kg, 21.16 mg/kg and 114.00 mg/kg (1 M NH4OAc extracted Pb) in silty loam, yellowish-red soil and purplish soil, respectively. When the values exceed the above ones, the contents of Pb in Chinese cabbage leaves will exceed the Chinese Tolerance Limit of Lead in Foods (GB14935-94), as a result, potential ecological risk and hazard to human health via the food chain will appear.

Effect of sulfur source on photocatalytic degradation performance of CdS/MoS2 prepared with one-step hydrothermal synthesis

Cd S/Mo S2,an extremely efficient photocatalyst,has been extensively used in hydrogen photoproduction and pollutant *** S/Mo S2can be synthesized by a facile one-step hydrothermal ***,the effect of the sulfur source on the synthesis of Cd S/Mo S2via one-step hydrothermal methods has seldom been *** report herein a series of one-step hydrothermal preparations of Cd S/Mo S2using three different sulfur sources：thioacetamide,L-cysteine,and *** results revealed that the sulfur source strongly affected the crystallization,morphology,elemental composition and ultraviolet（UV）–visible-light-absorption ability of the Cd S/Mo *** the investigated sulfur sources,thioacetamide provided the highest visible-light absorption ability for Cd S/Mo S2,with the smallest average particle size and largest surface area,resulting in the highest efficiency in Methylene Blue（MB）*** photocatalytic activity of Cd S/Mo S2synthesized from the three sulfur sources can be arranged in the following order：*** reaction rate constants（k）for thioacetamide,L-cysteine,and thiourea were estimated to be 0.0197,0.0140,and 0.0084 min^（-1）,***,thioacetamide may be limited in practical application in terms of its price and toxicity,while L-cysteine is relatively economical,less toxic and exhibited good photocatalytic degradation performance toward MB.

Artificial upwelling, as a geoengineering tool, has received worldwide attention because it may actualize ocean fertilization in a sustainable way, which could potentially alleviate the pressures on the fish stocks and human-driven climate change in the ocean. We reviewed the current knowledge on the development of an artificial upwelling system and its potential environmental effects. Special attention was given to the research progress on the air-lift concept artificial upwelling by zhejiang university. The research on artificial upwelling over the past few decades has generated a range of devices that have been successfully applied in the field for months. Based on field experiments and the associated modeling results, part of them reported positive effects on increasing primary production and enhancing CO2 sequestration. However, as a significant disturbance to the environment, especially for large-scale applications, the uncertainties related to the potential effects on ecosystem remain unsolved. zhejiang university has overcome the technical challenges in designing and fabricating a robust and high efficiency artificial upwelling device which has been examined in two field experiments in Qiandao Lake and one sea trial in the East china Sea. It was investigated that cold and hypoxic deep ocean water(DOW) could be uplifted to the euphotic layer, which could potentially change the nutrient distribution and adjust the N/P ratio. Both simulation and field experiments results confirmed that utilizing self-powered energy to inject compressed air to uplift DOW was a valid and efficient method. Therefore, further field-based research on artificial upwelling, especially for long-term field research is required to test the scientific hypothesis.

A total synthesis of glypetelotine, the first sulphur-containing indole alkaloid from the leaf extracts of Glycosmis petelotii collected in the north of Vietnam, was described from indole through 6 steps. The structure of the glypetelotine was confirmed by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and MS analysis. The spectral data of synthetic compound was identical with those of natural compound.

Semitransparent organic photovoltaics(STOPVs)have gained wide attention owing to their promising applications in building-integrated photovoltaics,agrivoltaics,and floating *** semiconductors with high charge carrier mobility usually have planar and conjugated structures,thereby showing strong absorption in visible *** this work,a new concept of incorporating transparent inorganic semiconductors is proposed for high-performance ***(I)thiocyanate(CuSCN)is a visible-transparent inorganic semiconductor with an ionization potential of 5.45 eV and high hole *** transparency of CuSCN benefits high average visible transmittance(AVT)of *** energy levels of CuSCN as donor match those of near-infrared small molecule acceptor BTP-eC9,and the formed heterojunction exhibits an ability of exciton *** mobility of CuSCN contributes to a more favorable charge transport channel and suppresses charge *** control STOPVs based on PM6/BTP-eC9 exhibit an AVT of 19.0%with a power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 12.7%.Partial replacement of PM6 with CuSCN leads to a 63%increase in transmittance,resulting in a higher AVT of 30.9%and a comparable PCE of 10.8%.
