The early development of the endosperm is crucial for balancing the allocation of maternal nutrients to *** process is believed to be evolutionarily associated with genomic imprinting,resulting in parentally biased allelic gene *** Fertilization Independent Seed(FIS)genes,the number of imprinted genes involved in early endosperm development and seed size determination remains *** study introduces early endosperm-expressed HAIKU(IKU)downstream Candidate F-box 1(ICF1)and ICF2 as maternally expressed imprinted genes(MEGs)in Arabidopsis *** these genes are also demethylated by DEMETER(DME)in the central cell,their activation differs from the direct DME-mediated activation seen in classical MEGs such as the FIS ***,ICF maternal alleles carry pre-established hypomethylation in their promoters,priming them for activation by the WRKY10 transcription factor in the *** the contrary,paternal alleles are predominantly suppressed by CG ***,we find that ICF genes partially contribute to the small seed size observed in iku *** discovery reveals a two-step regulatory mechanism that highlights the important role of conventional transcription factors in the activation of imprinted genes,which was previously not fully ***,the mechanism provides a new dimension to understand the transcriptional regulation of imprinting in plant reproduction and development.

Mg-doped,carbon-coated,and prelithiated SiO_(x) as anode materials with improved initial Coulombic efficiency for lithium-ion batteries

Silicon suboxide(SiO_(x),x≈1)is promising in serving as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries with high capacity,but it has a low initial Coulombic efficiency(ICE)due to the irreversible formation of lithium silicates during the first *** this work,we modify SiO_(x) by solid-phase Mg doping reaction using low-cost Mg powder as a reducing *** show that Mg reduces SiO_(2) in SiO_(x) to Si and forms MgSiO_(3) or Mg_(2)SiO_(4).The MgSiO_(3) or Mg_(2)SiO_(4) are mainly distributed on the surface of SiO_(x),which suppresses the irreversible lithium-ion loss and enhances the ICE of SiO_(x).However,the formation of MgSiO_(3) or Mg_(2)SiO_(4) also sacrifices the capacity of SiO_(x).Therefore,by controlling the reaction process between Mg and SiO_(x),we can tune the phase composition,proportion,and morphology of the Mg-doped SiO_(x) and manipulate the *** obtain samples with a capacity of 1226 mAh g^(–1) and an ICE of 84.12%,which show significant improvement over carbon-coated SiO_(x) without Mg *** the synergistical modification of both Mg doping and prelithiation,the capacity of SiO_(x) is further increased to 1477 mAh g^(–1) with a minimal compromise in the ICE(83.77%).

Styrene-butadiene rubber(SBR)is an indispensable material in modern society,and the necessity for enhanced mechanical properties in SBR persists,particularly to withstand the rigors of challenging environmental *** surmount the limitations of conventional cross-linking modes,mechanical bonds stabilized by host-guest recognition are incorporated as the cross-linking points of SBR to form mechanically interlocked networks(MINs).Compared with covalently cross-linked network,the representative MIN exhibits superior mechanical performance in terms of elongation(1392%)and breaking strength(4.6 MPa),whose toughness has surged by 17 *** of host-guest recognition and subsequent sliding motion provide an effective energy dissipation mechanism,and the release of hidden length is also beneficial to enhance ***,the introduction of the rotaxane cross-links made the network more pliable and possess damping and elastic properties,which can return to initial state with one minute rest *** aspire that this direct introduction method can serve as a blueprint,offering valuable insights for the enhancement of mechanical properties in conventional commercial polymer materials.

Meningeal lymphatic vessels(mLVs)play a pivotal role in regulating metabolic waste from cerebrospinal fluid(CSF).However,the current limitations in field of view and resolution of existing imaging techniques impede understanding the stereoscopic morphology and dynamic behavior of mLVs in ***,we utilized dual-contrast functional photoacoustic microscopy to achieve wide-field intravital imaging of the lymphatic system,including mLVs and glymphatic *** stereoscopic photoacoustic microscopy based on opto-acoustic confocal features has a depth imaging capability of 3.75 mm,facilitating differentiation between mLVs on the meninges and glymphatic pathways within the brain ***,using this imaging technique,we were able to visualize the dynamic drainage of mLVs and identify a peak drainage period occurring around 20–40 min after injection,along with determining the flow direction from CSF to lymph ***,in the Alzheimer’s disease(AD)mouse model,we observed that AD mice exhibit a~70%reduction in drainage volume of mLVs compared to wild-type *** the development of AD,there is be continued decline in mLVs drainage *** finding clearly demonstrates that the AD mouse model has impaired CSF *** study opens up a horizon for understanding the brain’s drainage mechanism and dissecting mLVs-associated neurological disorders.

The Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor(CMOS)image sensor is a critical component with the function of providing accurate positioning in many space application *** long-time operation in space environments,there are radiation related degradation and var-ious uncertainties affecting the positioning accuracy of CMOS image sensors,which further leads to a reliability reduction of CMOS image ***,the reliability of CMOS image sensors is related to their specified function,degradation,and uncertainties;however,current research has not fully described this *** this paper,a comprehensive approach to reliability modelling of CMOs image sensors is proposed based on the reliability science ***,the perfor-mance margin modelling of centroid positioning accuracy is ***,the degradation model of CMOS image sensors is derived considering the dark current increase induced by the total ionizing dose ***,various uncertainties are analyzed and quantified,and the measure-ment equation of reliability is proposed.A case study of a CMOS image sensor is conducted to apply the proposed method,and the sensitivity analysis can provide suggestions for design and use of CMOS image sensors to ensure reliability.A simulation study is conducted to present the advantages oftheproposed comprehensive approach.

Comparative Analysis of Diagonal and Centrifugal Compressors with Synergy Theory in Compressed Air Energy Storage System

Energy storage technology is an essential part of the efficient energy *** air energy storage(CAES)is considered to be one of the most promising large-scale physical energy storage *** is favored because of its low-cost,long-life,environmentally friendly and low-carbon *** compressor is the core component of CAES,and the performance is critical to the overall system *** importance is not only reflected in the design point,but also in the continuous efficient operation under variable working *** diagonal compressor is currently the focus of the developing large-scale CAES because of its stronger flow capacity compared with traditional centrifugal *** the diagonal compressor has the higher single stage pressure ratio compared with axial *** this paper,the full three dimensional numerical simulation technologies with synergy theory are used to compare and analyze the internal flow *** performance of the centrifugal and diagonal impellers that are optimized under the same requirements for large-scale CAES has been *** relationship between the internal flow characteristics and performance of the centrifugal and diagonal impellers with the change of mass flow rates and total inlet temperature is given qualitatively and *** the cosine value of the synergy angle is high,the local flow loss is *** smaller proportion of the positive area is the pursuit of *** comparative analysis,it is concluded that the internal flow and performance changes of centrifugal and diagonal impellers are *** results confirm the superiority and feasibility of the off-design performance of the diagonal compressor applied to the developing large-scale CAES.

As a kind of large-scale physical energy storage,compressed air energy storage(CAES)plays an important role in the construction of more efficient energy system based on renewable energy in the *** with traditional industrial compressors,the compressor of CAES has higher off-design performance *** the perspective of design,it needs to pay attention not only to the performance of the design point,but also to the performance of all the stable working ***,from the previous literature,no diagonal compressor was used in CAES which can meet the requirements,which also reflects the design program can be further ***,this paper studies the design strategy of high efficient diagonal compressor for large-scale CAES,and gives the complete strategy algorithms used for different program *** pressure ratio,isentropic efficiency and stable working range are comprehensively *** the design process,the criteria for the key parameters of the diagonal flow angle of the diagonal compressor are given for the first *** results show that the isentropic efficiency at the design point is 92.7%,the total pressure ratio is1.97,and the stable working range exceeds 20%,which meets the design requirements of the compressor for CAES and exceeds the overall performance of the previous compressors in the entire working range.

In actual physiological environments,bacteria can activate the immune system and release lactic ***,the detailed contribution of lactic acid to the passivation behavior of titanium(Ti)alloys is still *** current work investigated the in vitro passivation behavior of Ti-6Al-4V(TC4)alloys fabricated by laser powder bed fusion in Hank's solution with and without adding lactic *** methods,inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometer,and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy were jointly *** lactic acid decreases the corrosion resistance of samples by degrading the formed passive *** film formed in the(lactic acid)-containing solution exhibits a higher level of oxygen vacancies and a lower thickness,attributed to the suppressed formation of Ti^(4+)transformed from Ti^(3+)and Ti^(2+).Moreover,the presence of lactic acid would increase the open circuit potential,relieve the ions release,and hinder the deposition of calcium phosphates within 24 h immersion.

Jet formation and penetration performance of a double-layer charge liner with chemically-deposited tungsten as the inner liner

This paper proposes a type of double-layer charge liner fabricated using chemical vapor deposition(CVD)that has tungsten as its inner *** feasibility of this design was evaluated through penetration ***-layer charge liners were fabricated by using CVD to deposit tungsten layers on the inner surfaces of pure T2 copper *** microstructures of the tungsten layers were analyzed using a scanning electron microscope(SEM).The feasibility analysis was carried out by pulsed X-rays,slug-retrieval test and static penetration *** shaped charge jet forming and penetration law of inner tungsten-coated double-layer liner were studied by numerical simulation *** results showed that the double-layer liners could form well-shaped *** errors between the X-ray test results and the numerical results were within 11.07%.A slug-retrieval test was found that the retrieved slug was similar to a numerically simulated *** with the traditional pure copper shaped charge jet,the penetration depth of the double-layer shaped charge liner increased by 11.4% and>10.8% *** summary,the test results are good,and the numerical simulation is in good agreement with the test,which verified the feasibility of using the CVD method to fabricate double-layer charge liners with a high-density and high-strength refractory metal as the inner liner.
