Spin-polarized^3He gas is widely used in many research *** is used to search for new spin-dependent interactions beyond the standard model[1,2].It works as a target for electron scattering when studying the spin structure of neurons in high-energy and nuclear physics[3].Also,it works as a neutron spin filter(NSF)for polarizing/analyzing neutron polarizations in scattering experiments[4-7].One of the advantages of neutron scattering is that the neutron has a magnetic moment;thus,it can detect a magnetic structure with high *** the neutrons are polarized,this advantage can be greatly improved because polarized neutron scattering techniques can easily differentiate between magnetic and nuclear *** comparison,it is not very easy for other techniques such as X-ray scattering to separate magnetic interactions from electrical ones in magnetic samples because the latter is usually much stronger than the ***,by encoding energy change and scattering angle information into precessions of the neutron polarization,the energy and angle resolutions for scattering can be significantly increased using the so-called spin echo techniques.

Fast neutron absorption spectroscopy is widely used in the study of nuclear structure and element analysis. However,due to the traditional neutron source pulse duration being of the order of nanoseconds, it is difficult to obtain a high-resolution absorption spectrum. Thus, we present a method of ultrahigh energy-resolution absorption spectroscopy via a high repetition rate, picosecond duration pulsed neutron source driven by a terawatt laser. The technology of single neutron count is used, which results in easily distinguishing the width of approximately 20 keV at 2 MeV and an asymmetric shape of the neutron absorption peak. The absorption spectroscopy based on a laser neutron source has one order of magnitude higher energy-resolution power than the state-of-the-art traditional neutron sources, which could be of benefit for precisely measuring nuclear structure data.

Gene Variations of Sixth Complement Component Affecting Tacrolimus Metabolism in Patients with Liver Transplantation for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

BACKGROUND Return to work(RTW)serves as an indication for young and middle-aged colorectal cancer(CRC)survivors to resume their normal social ***,these survivors encounter significant challenges during their RTW ***,scientific research is necessary to explore the barriers and facilitating factors of returning to work for young and middle-aged CRC *** To examine the current RTW status among young and middle-aged CRC survivors and to analyze the impact of RTW self-efficacy(RTW-SE),fear of progression(FoP),eHealth literacy(eHL),family resilience(FR),and financial toxicity(FT)on their RTW *** A cross-sectional investigation was adopted in this *** September 2022 to February 2023,a total of 209 participants were recruited through a convenience sampling method from the gastrointestinal surgery department of a class A tertiary hospital in *** investigation utilized a general information questionnaire alongside scales assessing RTW-SE,FoP,eHL,FR,and *** analyze the factors that influence RTW outcomes among young and middle-aged CRC survivors,Cox regression modeling and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis were *** A total of 43.54%of the participants successfully returned to work,with an average RTW time of 100 *** regression univariate analysis revealed that RTW-SE,FoP,eHL,FR,and FT were significantly different between the non-RTW and RTW groups(P<0.05).Furthermore,Cox regression multivariate analysis identified per capita family monthly income,job type,RTW-SE,and FR as independent influencing factors for RTW(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The RTW rate requires further *** levels of RTW-SE and FR were found to significantly increase RTW among young and middle-aged CRC *** professionals should focus on modifiable factors,such as RTW-SE and FR,to design targeted RTW support programs,thereby facilitating their timely reintegration into mainstream society.

Modified techniques for adult-to-adult living donor liver transplantation

BACKGROUND: Because of critical organ shortage, transplant professionals have utilized living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) in recent years. We summarized our experience in adult-to-adult LDLT with grafts of right liver lobe by a modified technique. METHODS: From January 2002 to August 2005, 24 adult patients underwent living donor liver transplantation with grafts of the right liver lobe at West China Hospital, Sichuan University, China. Twenty-two patients underwent modi-Bed procedures designed to improve the reconstruction of the right hepatic vein and the tributaries of the middle hepatic vein by interposing a great saphenous vein ( GSV) graft and the anastomosis of the hepatic arteries and bile ducts. RESULTS: No severe complications and death occurred in all donors. In the first 2 patients, (patients 1 and 2), operative procedure was not modified. One patient suffered from 'small-for-size syndrome' and the other died of sepsis with progressive deterioration of graft function. In the rest 22 patients (patients 3 to 24), however, the procedure of venous reconstruction was modified, and better results were obtained. Complications occurred in 7 recipients including acute rejection (2 patients), hepatic artery thrombosis (1), bile leakage (1), intestinal bleeding (1), left sub-phrenic abscess (1), and pulmonary infection (1). One patient with pulmonary infection died of multiple organ failure (MOF). The 22 patients underwent direct anastomosis of the right hepatic vein to the inferior vena cava (IVC), 9 direct anastomosis plus the reconstruction of the right inferior hepatic vein, and 10 direct anastomosis plus the reconstruction of the tributaries of the middle hepatic vein by in-terpos-ing a GSV graft to provide sufficient venous outflow. Trifurcation of the portal vein was met in 3 patients. Venoplasty or separate anastomosis was performed. The ratio of graft to recipient body weight ranged from 0.72% to 1.17%. Tumor suppress genes screening analysis on 4q in sporadic colorectal carcinoma

AIM: To search candidate tumor suppressor genes (TSGs) on chromosome 4q through detecting high loss of heterozygosity (LOH) regions in sporadic colorectal carcinoma in Chinese patients. METHODS: Thirteen fluorescent labeled polymorphic microsatellite markers were analyzed in 83 cases of colorectal carcinoma and matched normal tissue DNA by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). PCR products were eletrophoresed on an ABI 377 DNA sequencer. Genescan 3.7 and Genotype 3.7 software were used for LOH scanning and analysis. Comparison between LOH frequency and clinicopathological factors were performed by χ2 test. RESULTS: Data were collected on all informative loci. The average LOH frequency on 4q was 28.56%. The D4S2915 locus showed highest LOH frequency (36.17%). Two obvious deletion regions were detected: one between D4S3000 and D4S2915 locus (4q12-21.1), another flanked by D4S407 and D4S2939 locus (4q25-31.1). None case showed complete deletion of 4q, most cases displayed interstitial deletion pattern solely. Furthermore, compared with clinicopathological features, a significant relationship was observed between LOH frequencies on D4S3018locus. In tumors larger than 5 cm in diameter, LOH frequency was significantly higher than tumors that were less than 5 cm (56% vs 13.79%, P = 0.01). On D4S1534 locus, LOH was significantly associated with liver metastasis (80% vs 17.25%, P = 0.012). No relationship was detected on other locus compared with clinicopathologial features. CONCLUSION: By high resolution deletion mapping, two high frequency regions of LOH (4q12-21.1 and 4q25-31.1) were detected, which may contribute to locate TSGs on chromosome 4q involved in carcinogenesis and progression of sporadic colorectal carcinoma.

Improving corrosion resistance of Cu-Al-based anodes in KF-AlF_(3)-Al_(2)O_(3)melts

The anodic behaviour of pre-oxidised and non-oxidised Cu-Al-based anodes(Cu-10Al and Cu-9.8Al-2Mn)in KF-AlF_(3)-Al_(2)O_(3)melts was studied through galvanostatic and potentiodynamic polarization *** alloy compositions were oxidised for a short-term(8 h)at 700℃,followed by galvanostatic polarization for 1 h at 800℃with an applied current density of 0.4 A/cm^(2).The potentiodynamic curves were recorded with a sweep rate of 0.01 V/*** analysis was conducted on frozen melt samples collected on the surface of the anode,and SEM observation was performed on the anode after the experiment to study the phases of the scales formed on the *** the anode materials had a steady potential between 2.30 and 2.50 V(vs Al/AlF_(3)).The corrosion rates of the anodes were calculated from the data acquired through potentiodynamic *** was seen that pre-oxidised anodes possess a low corrosion rate compared to those without pre-oxidation treatment.
