Multifunctional carbon materials from rugose rose for energy storage and water purification

With the advancement of social process,the resource problem is becoming more prominent,biomass materials come into being,and it is becoming more and more important to explore and prepare efficient and multifunctional biomass materials to alleviate the problems of energy storage and water *** this paper,nitrogen-doped hierarchical porous carbon materials(NRRC)were produced by one-step carbonization of withered rose as raw material and melamine as nitrogen source with KOH-activated *** resulting nitrogen-doped porous carbon material had the most abundant pores and the best microspherical graded pore structure,with a specific surface area of up to 1393 m2·g^(-1),a pore volume of 0.68 cm3·g^(-1),and a nitrogen-doped content of 5.52%.Electrochemical tests showed that the maximum specific capacitance of NRRC in the three-electrode system was 346.4 F·g^(-1)(0.5 A·g^(-1)),which was combined with favorable capacitance retention performance and cycling *** NRRC//NRRC symmetric supercapacitors were further assembled,and the maximum energy density of a single device was 23.88 Wh·kg^(-1),which still maintains excellent capacitance retention and cyclic charging/discharging *** example,the capacitance retention rate was always close to 96.27%with almost negligible capacitance loss after 10000 consecutive charge/discharge cycles(current density:10 A·g^(-1)).Regardless of the three-electrode or two-electrode system,the super capacitive performance of NRRC porous carbon materials was comparable to the electrochemical performance of many reported biomass porous carbon materials,which showed better energy storage advantages and practical application *** addition,NRRC porous carbon materials had excellent water purification *** dye adsorption test confirmed that NRRC had a high adsorption capacity(491.47 mg·g^(-1))for methylene *** undoubtedly also showed a potential and promising avenue for high value-added utilization

Structures and Hydrogen Bonding Interactions in Urea-water System Studied by All-atom MD Simulation and Chemical Shifts in NMR Spectrum

The interactions and structures of the urea-water system are studied by an all-atom molecular dynamics （MD） simulation. The hydrogen-bonding network and the radial distribution functions are adopted in MD simulations. The structures of urea-water mixtures can be classified into different regions from the analysis of the hydrogen-bonding network. The urea molecule shows the certain tendency to the self-aggregate with the mole fraction of urea increasing. Moreover, the results of the MD simulations are also compare with the chemical shifts and viscosities of the urea aqueous solutions, and the statistical results of the average number hydrogen bonds in the MD simulations are in agreement with the experiment data such as chemical shifts of the hydrogen atom and viscosity.

Origin of high mechanical quality factor in CuO-doped （K, Na）NbO3-based ceramics

The origin of a high mechanical quality in CuO-doped （K, Na）NbO3-based ceramics is addressed by considering the correlations between the lattice positions of Cu ions and the hardening effect in K0.48Na0.52＋xNbO3-0.01CuO ceramics. The Cu ions simultaneously occupy K/Na and Nb sites of these ceramics with x = 0 and 0.02, only occupy the K/Na site of the ceramics with x= -0.02, and mostly form a secondary phase of the ceramics with x = -0.05. The Cu ions lead to the hardening of ceramics with an increase of Ec and Qm by only occupying the K/Na site, together with the formation of double hysteresis loops in un-poled compositions. A defect model is proposed to illuminate the origin of a high Qm value, that is, the domain stabilization is dominated by the content of relatively mobile O2- ions in the ceramics, which has a weak bonding with CUK/Na defects.

Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging reflects activation of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 during focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion

Signal transducer and activator of transcription（STAT）is a unique protein family that binds to DNA,coupled with tyrosine phosphorylation signaling pathways,acting as a transcriptional regulator to mediate a variety of biological *** ischemia and reperfusion can activate STATs signaling pathway,but no studies have confirmed whether STAT activation can be verified by diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging（DWI）in rats after cerebral ischemia/***,we established a rat model of focal cerebral ischemia injury using the modified Longa *** revealed hyperintensity in parts of the left hemisphere before reperfusion and a low apparent diffusion ***3 protein expression showed no significant change after reperfusion,but phosphorylated STAT3 expression began to increase after 30 minutes of reperfusion and peaked at 24 *** correlation analysis showed that STAT3 activation was correlated positively with the relative apparent diffusion coefficient and negatively with the DWI abnormal signal *** results indicate that DWI is a reliable representation of the infarct area and reflects STAT phosphorylation in rat brain following focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion.

BACKGROUND Mutations in the beta1,3-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 2(B3GALNT2)gene can lead to impaired glycosylation ofα-dystroglycan,which,in turn,causes congenital muscular dystrophy(CMD).The clinical phenotypes of CMD are broad,and there are only a few reports of CMD *** SUMMARY This report describes the cases of two children with CMD caused by B3GALNT2 gene *** main manifestations of the two cases were abnormal walking posture,language development delay,and abnormal development of the white *** 2 also had unreported symptoms of meningocele and giant arachnoid *** cases had compound heterozygous mutations of the B3GALNT2 gene,each containing a truncated mutation and a missense mutation,and three of the four loci had not been *** patients with CMD caused by B3GALNT2 gene mutation were found in the *** and analysis of the characteristics of CMD caused by B3GALNT2 gene mutation showed that 100%of the cases had nervous system *** magnetic resonance imaging often showed abnormal manifestations,and more than half of the children had eye and muscle involvement;some of the gene-related symptoms were *** B3GALNT2 gene can be used as one of the candidate genes for screening CMD,cognitive development retardation,epilepsy,and multiple brain developmental malformations in infants.

Structures and Intermolecular Interactions in Dimethyl Sulfoxide-Water System Studied by All-atom Molecular Simulations

An all-atom dimethyl sulfoxide （DMSO） and water model have been used for molecular dynamics simulation. The NMR and IR spectra are also performed to study the structures and interactions in the DMSO-water system. And there are traditional strong hydrogen bonds and weak C-H- ~ ~ O contacts existing in the mixtures according to the analysis of the radial distribution functions. The insight structures in the DMSO-water mixtures can be classified into different regions by the analysis of the hydrogen-bonding network. Interestingly, the molar fraction of DMSO 0.35 is found to be a special concentration by the network. It is the transitional region which is from the water rich region to the DMSO rich region. The stable aggregates of （DMSO）m＇S=O…… HW-OW-（H20）n might play a key role in this region. Moreover, the simulation is compared with the chemical shifts in NMR and wavenumbers in IR with concentration dependence. And the statistical results of the average number hydrogen bonds in the MD simulations are in agreement with the experiment data in NMR and IR spectra.

Diagnostic and Prognostic Significance of Keapl mRNA Expression for Lung Cancer Based on Microarray and Clinical Information from Oncomine Database

We performed a bioinformatics analysis with validation by multiple databases,aiming to evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic value of Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1(Keapl)mRNA for lung cancer,and to explore possible *** performance of Keapl mRNA was determined by receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve *** implication of Keapl mRNA was estimated by Kaplan-Meier survival ***-expressed genes with both Keapl and Nfe2L2 were identified by *** of Keapl-Nfe2L2-co-expressed genes underlying the pathogenesis of lung cancer were explored by function enrichment and pathway *** ROC curve analysis determined a good diagnostic performance of Keapl mRNA for lung squamous cell carcinoma(LUSC),with an area under the ROC curve(AUC)of 0.833,sensitivity of 72.7%,and specificity of 90.6%(P<0.001).Multivariate Cox regression recognized high Keapl mRNA to be an independent risk factor of mortality for overall lung cancer[hazard ratio(HR):11.034,P=0.044],but an independent antagonistic factor for lung adenocarcinoma(LUAD)(HR:0.404,P<0.001).Validation by UALCAN and GEPIA supported Oncomine findings regarding the diagnostic value of Keapl mRNA for LUSC,but denied its prognostic *** screening,we identified 17 co-expressed genes with both Keapl and Nfe2L2 for LUAD,and 22 for LUSC,mainly enriched in signaling pathway of oxidative stress-induced gene expression via *** conclusion,Keapl mRNA has a good diagnostic performance,but controversial prognostic efficacy for *** pathogenesis of lung cancer is associated with Keapl-Nfe2L2-co-expressed genes by signaling pathway of oxidative stress-induced gene expression via Nrf2.

Noninvasive assessment of liver fibrosis with combined serum aminotransferase/platelet ratio index and hyaluronic acid in patients with chronic hepatitis B

AIM： To construct a noninvasive assessment model consisting of routine laboratory data to predict significant fibrosis and cirrhosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B （CHB）. METHODS： A total of 137 consecutive patients with CriB who underwent percutaneous liver biopsy were retrospectively analyzed. These patients were divided into two groups according to their aminotransferase （ALT） level. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value （PPV）, negative predictive value （NPV）, the likelihood ratio （LR） of aminotransferase/platelet ratio index （APRI） ≥ 1.5 or 〈 1.5 in combination with different hyaluronic acid （HA） cut-off points were calculated for the presence of moderate to severe fibrosis/cirrhosis （fibrosis stages 2 and 4） and no to mild fibrosis/cirrhosis （fibrosis stages 0 and 1）. RESULTS： The APRI correlated with fibrosis stage in CriB patients. The APRI ≥1.5 in combination with a cut-off HA cut-off point 〉 300 ng/mL could detect moderate to severe fibrosis （stages 2-4） in Crib patients. The PPV was 93.7%, the specificity was 98.9%. The APRI 〈 1.5 in combination with different HA cut-off points could not detect no to mild fibrosis in CHB patients. CONCLUSION： The APRI ≥ 1.5 in combination with a HA cut-off point 〉 300 ng/mL can detect moderate to severe fibrosis （stages 2-4） in Crib patients.

Effect of sintering temperature on luminescence properties of borosilicate matrix blue–green emitting color conversion glass ceramics

The color conversion glass ceramics which were made of borosilicate matrix co-doped(SrBaSm)Si2O2N2:(Eu^3+Ce^3+) blue-green phosphors were prepared by two-step method in co-sintering. The change in luminescence properties and the drift of chromaticity coordinates(CIE) of the(SrBaSm)Si2O2N2:(Eu^3+Ce^3+) blue-green phosphors and the color conversion glass ceramics were studied in the sintering temperature range from 600℃ to 800℃. The luminous intensity and internal quantum yield(QY) of the blue-green phosphors and glass ceramics decreased with the sintering temperature increasing. When the sintering temperature increased beyond 750℃, the phosphors and the color conversion glass ceramics almost had no peak in photoluminescence(PL) and excitation(PLE) spectra. The results showed that the blue-green phosphors had poor thermal stability at higher temperature. The lattice structure of the phosphors was destroyed by the glass matrix and the Ce^3+ in the phosphors was oxidized to Ce^4+, which further caused a decrease in luminescent properties of the color conversion glass ceramics.

3D-QSAR and Docking Studies of Pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine Derivatives as Weel Inhibitors

In order to investigate the inhibiting mechanism and obtain some helpful information for designing functional inhibitors against Wee1, three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship （3D-QSAR） and docking studies have been performed on 45 pyrido[2,3-d] pyrimidine derivatives acting as Wee1 inhibitors. Two optimal 3D-QSAR models with significant statistical quality and satisfactory predictive ability were established, including the CoMFA model （q2=0.707, R2=0.964） and CoMSIA model （q2=0.645, R2=0.972）. The external validation indicated that both CoMFA and CoMSIA models were quite robust and had high predictive power with the predictive correlation coefficient values of 0.707 and 0.794, essen- 2 values of 0.792 and 0.826, the leave-one-out r2m（LOO） values of 0.781 and tim parameter rm2 0.809, r2（ all） values of 0.787 and 0.810, respectively. Moreover, the appropriate binding orientations and conformations of these compounds interacting with Wee1 were revealed by the docking studies. Based on the CoMFA and CoMSIA contour maps and docking analyses, several key structural requirements of these compounds responsible for inhibitory activity were identified as follows： simultaneously introducing high electropositive groups to the sub- stituents R1 and R5 may increase the activity, the substituent R2 should be smaller bulky and higher electronegative, moderate-size and strong electron-withdrawing groups for the substituent R3 is advantageous to the activity, but the substituent X should be medium-size and hydrophilic. These theoretical results help to understand the action mechanism and design novel potential Wee1 inhibitors.
