The pseudorabies virus(PRV)is identified as a double-helical DNA virus responsible for causing Aujeszky's disease,which results in considerable economic impacts *** enzyme tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase 2(WARS2),a mitochondrial protein involved in protein synthesis,is recognized for its broad expression and vital role in the translation *** findings of our study showed an increase in both mRNA and protein levels of WARS2 following PRV infection in both cell cultures and animal *** WARS2 expression via RNA interference in PK-15 cells led to a reduction in PRV infection rates,whereas enhancing WARS2 expression resulted in increased infection ***,the activation of WARS2 in response to PRV was found to be reliant on the cGAS/STING/TBK1/IRF3 signaling pathway and the interferon-alpha receptor-1,highlighting its regulation via the type I interferon signaling *** analysis revealed that reducing WARS2 levels hindered PRV's ability to promote protein and lipid *** research provides novel evidence that WARS2 facilitates PRV infection through its management of protein and lipid levels,presenting new avenues for developing preventative and therapeutic measures against PRV infections.

In this editorial,we offer commentary on the article published by Chen et al in a recent issue of the World Journal of Gastroenterology(2024;30:1346-1357).The study highlights a noteworthy association between persistently elevated,yet highnormal levels of alanine transaminase(ALT)and an escalated cumulative risk of developing metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD).MAFLD has emerged as a globally prevalent chronic liver condition,whose incidence is steadily rising in parallel with improvements in living *** unchecked,MAFLD can progress from hepatic steatosis to liver fibrosis,cirrhosis,and even hepatocellular carcinoma,underscoring the importance of early screening and *** is widely recognized as a reliable biomarker for assessing the extent of hepatocellular *** ALT levels demonstrate a significant correlation with the severity of fatty liver disease,they lack *** article by Chen et al contributes to our understanding of the development of MAFLD by investigating the long-term implications of high-normal ALT *** findings suggest that sustained elevation within the normal range is linked to an increased likelihood of developing MAFLD,emphasizing the need for closer monitoring and potential intervention in such cases.

This work studied the thickening progression mechanism of the silica fume-oil well cement composite system at high temperatures(110-180.C) in order to provide a theoretical guidance for the rational application of silica fume in the cementing engineering. Results showed that silica fume seldom affected the thickening progression of oil well cement slurry at 110-120.C, but when temperature reached above130.C, it would aggravate the bulging degree of thickening curves and significantly extend the thickening time, meanwhile causing the abnormal “temperature-based thickening time reversal” and“dosage-based thickening time reversal” phenomena in the range of 130-160.C and 170-180.C respectively. At 130-160.C, the thickening time of oil well cement slurry was mainly associated with the generation rate of calcium hydroxide(CH) crystal. The introduced silica fume would be attracted to the cement minerals' surface that were hydrating to produce CH and agglomerate together to form an“adsorptive barrier” to hinder further hydration of the inner cement minerals. This “adsorptive barrier”effect strengthened with the rising temperature which extended the thickening time and caused the occurrence of the “temperature-based thickening time reversal” phenomenon. At 170-180.C, the pozzolanic activity of silica fume significantly enhanced and considerable amount of C-S-H was generated, thus the “temperature-based thickening time reversal” vanished and the “dosage-based thickening time reversal” was presented.

BACKGROUND Lymphovascular invasion(LVI)and perineural invasion(PNI)are important prognostic factors for gastric cancer(GC)that indicate an increased risk of metastasis and poor *** preoperative prediction of LVI/PNI status could help clinicians identify high-risk patients and guide treatment ***,prior models using conventional computed tomography(CT)images to predict LVI or PNI separately have had limited *** CT provides quantitative enhancement parameters that may better capture tumor *** hypothesized that a predictive model combining clinical and spectral CT parameters would accurately preoperatively predict LVI/PNI status in GC *** To develop and test a machine learning model that fuses spectral CT parameters and clinical indicators to predict LVI/PNI status *** This study used a retrospective dataset involving 257 GC patients(training cohort,n=172;validation cohort,n=85).First,several clinical indicators,including serum tumor markers,CT-TN stages and CT-detected extramural vein invasion(CT-EMVI),were extracted,as were quantitative spectral CT parameters from the delineated tumor ***,a two-step feature selection approach using correlation-based methods and information gain ranking inside a 10-fold cross-validation loop was utilized to select informative clinical and spectral CT parameters.A logistic regression(LR)-based nomogram model was subsequently constructed to predict LVI/PNI status,and its performance was evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC).RESULTS In both the training and validation cohorts,CT T3-4 stage,CT-N positive status,and CT-EMVI positive status are more prevalent in the LVI/PNI-positive group and these differences are statistically significant(Phe training group showed preoperative CT-T stage,CT-EMVI,single-energy CT values of 70 keV of venous phase(VP-70 keV),and the ratio of standardized iodine co
