A new interacting capillary bundle model on the multiphase flow in micropores of tight rocks

Surfactants are widely used in the fracturing fluid to enhance the imbibition and thus the oil recovery rate. However, current numerical models cannot capture the physics behind capillary imbibition during the wettability alteration by surfactants. Although the interacting capillary bundle(ICB) model shows potential in characterizing imbibition rates in different pores during wettability alteration, the existing ICB models neglect the influence of wettability and viscosity ratio on the imbibition behavior, making it difficult to accurately describe the oil-water imbibition behavior within the porous media. In this work,a new ICB mathematical model is established by introducing pressure balance without assuming the position of the leading front to comprehensively describe the imbibition behavior in a porous medium under different conditions, including gas-liquid spontaneous imbibition and oil-water *** the pore size distribution of a tight rock is known, this new model can predict the changes of water saturation during the displacement process in the tight rock, and also determine the imbibition rate in pores of different sizes. The water saturation profiles obtained from the new model are validated against the waterflooding simulation results from the CMG, while the imbibition rates calculated by the model are validated against the experimental observations of gas-liquid spontaneous imbibition. The good match above indicates the newly proposed model can show the water saturation profile at a macroscopic scale while capture the underlying physics of the multiphase flow in a porous medium at a microscopic scale. Simulation results obtained from this model indicate that both wettability and viscosity ratio can affect the sequence of fluid imbibition into pores of different sizes during the multiphase flow, where less-viscous wetting fluid is preferentially imbibed into larger pores while more-viscous wetting fluid tends to be imbibed into smaller pores. Design study of charge-stripping scheme of heavy ion beams for HIAF-BRing

Predictive factors for lymph node metastasis and defining a subgroup treatable for laparoscopic lymph node dissection after endoscopic submucosal dissection in poorly differentiated early gastric cancer

Timing of surgery after neoadjuvant chemotherapy for gastric cancer: Impact on outcomes

AIM To evaluate whether the neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAc T)-surgery interval time significantly impacts the pathological complete response(pc R) rate and longterm *** One hundred and seventy-six patients with gastric cancer undergoing NAc T and a planned gastrectomy at the chinese p LA General hospital were selected from January 2011 to January 2017. Univariate and multivariable analyses were used to investigate the impact of NAc T-surgery interval time( 6 wk) on pc R rate and overall survival(OS).RESULTS The NAc T-surgery interval time and clinician T stage were independent predictors of pc R. The interval time > 6 wk was associated with a 74% higher odds of pc R as compared with an interval time of 4-6 wk(p = 0.044), while the odds ratio(OR) of clinical T3 vs clinical T4 stage for pc R was 2.90(95%c I: 1.04-8.01, p = 0.041). In cox regression analysis of long-term survival, postneoadjuvant therapy pathological N(yp N) stage significantly impacted OS(N0 vs N3: h R = 0.16, 95%c I: 0.37-0.70, p = 0.015; N1 vs N3: h R = 0.14, 95%c I: 0.02-0.81, p = 0.029) and disease-free survival(DFS)(N0 vs N3: h R = 0.11, 95%c I: 0.24-0.52, p = 0.005; N1 vs N3: h R = 0.17, 95%c I: 0.02-0.71, p = 0.020). The surgical procedure also had a positive impact on OS and DFS. The hazard ratio of distal gastrectomy vs total gastrectomy was 0.12(95%c I: 0.33-0.42, p = 0.001) for OS, and 0.13(95%c I: 0.36-0.44, p = 0.001) for *** The NAc T-surgery interval time is associated with pc R but has no impact on survival, and an interval time > 6 wk has a relatively high odds of pc R.

Thermal-force control ability under variation of electromagnetic stick structure parameters in RPECT

Thermal-force driving of roll profile electromagnetic control technology(RPECT),which can be used to adjust the roll profile,can be affected by the sequential temperature rise between the electromagnetic stick(ES)and electromagnetic control *** to the limited space of ES and induction coil,the cross-sectional area of induction coil can be inevitably affected by changing the size of the ES induction zone,which can further change the energy input under the same electromagnetic parameters,the temperature rising effect and the bulging *** investigate this phenomenon,the effects of the radius of the induction zone on the thermal-force contribution ratio,the heating ability of ES and the temperature distribution were analyzed through an electromagnetic-thermal-structural finite element *** ensure that the results are applicable to RPECT,the thermal energy conversion ability and thermal-force roll crown control ability under different lengths of the induction zone were *** was found that whether the current density regulation mode or the current frequency regulation mode is adopted,the cases with 20 or 25 mm radius of the induction zone have the great thermal energy conversion ability and the good thermal-force roll crown control *** reasonable adjustment of the length of the induction zone can reduce the radius required for the maximum energy efficiency *** with the results of the simulation analysis,the optimization of ES based on the control ability maximization requirement is achieved,which provides the base for the design and configuration of ES in RPECT.

Photo-manipulated polyunsaturated fatty acid-doped liposomal hydrogel for flexible photoimmunotherapy

Despite the synergy of immune checkpoint blockade(ICB) therapy and photodynamic therapy(PDT) holds great promise as countermeasures against breast cancer, exploring long-term or flexible short-time therapeutic strategies in “cold” tumors remains a great challenge. Here, we present a polyunsaturated fatty acid-doped liposomal hydrogel Lp(DHA)@CP Gel loaded with photosensitizer chlorin e6(Ce6) and programmed death-ligand 1 antibody(αPD-L1) for flexible local photoimmunotherapy with merely singledosed administration. The presence of polyunsaturated fatty acid(docosahexaenoic acid, DHA) doped in particle membrane endows liposomes with flexibly reactive oxygen species(ROS)-responsive release capability, which was attributed to the presence of abundant unsaturated groups. The αPD-L1 was repeatedly induced to in situ release in response to the PDT under photo-exposure. The immunogenic cell death(ICD) effect of PDT evoked “cold” breast tumor to “hot” one, and then assisted the cascade releasedαPD-L1 to synergistically boost the immunotherapy. After a single dose of peritumoral administration of Lp(DHA)@CP Gel, the on-demand treatment can maximize patient compliance and safety by adjusting therapeutic behaviors via a photo on-off switch. This work presents a flexible medication platform,showing promise in improving the objective response rate of ICB therapy and minimizing its systemic toxicity.
