Safety validation of decision trees for hepatocellular carcinoma

AIM: To evaluate a different decision tree for safe liver resection and verify its ***: A total of 2457 patients underwent hepatic resection between January 2004 and December 2010 at the Chinese PLA General Hospital,and 634 hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) patients were eligible for the final analyses. Post-hepatectomy liver failure(PHLF) was identified by the association of prothrombin time 50 μmol/L(the "50-50" criteria),which were assessed at day 5 postoperatively or later. The Swiss-Clavien decision tree,Tokyo University-Makuuchi decision tree,and Chinese consensus decision tree were adopted to divide patients into two groups based on those decision trees in sequence,and the PHLF rates were ***: The overall mortality and PHLF rate were 0.16% and 3.0%. A total of 19 patients experienced PHLF. The numbers of patients to whom the SwissClavien,Tokyo University-Makuuchi,and Chinese consensus decision trees were applied were 581,573,and 622,and the PHLF rates were 2.75%,2.62%,and 2.73%,respectively. Significantly more cases satisfied the Chinese consensus decision tree than the Swiss-Clavien decision tree and Tokyo University-Makuuchi decision tree(P < 0.01,P < 0.01); nevertheless,the latter two shared no difference(P = 0.147). The PHLF rate exhibited no significant difference with respect to the three decision ***: The Chinese consensus decision tree expands the indications for hepatic resection for HCC patients and does not increase the PHLF rate compared to the Swiss-Clavien and Tokyo UniversityMakuuchi decision trees. It would be a safe and effective algorithm for hepatectomy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma.

Aqueous zinc-ion devices are considered promising candidates for energy storage due to their high safety,low cost and relatively high energy ***,the dendrite growth,hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and corrosion of the zinc anode significantly limit the development of Zn-ion ***,an inexpensive poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)(PEDOT)protective layer was constructed in situ on the Zn surface using electropolymerization to suppress dendrite growth and side reactions,thereby enhancing the reversibility of *** and theoretical calculations revealed that this hydrophilic protective layer promotes the desolvation process of hydrated Zn^(2+)and facilitates the transport of zinc ions,thus improving the thermodynamic and kinetic properties of Zn^(2+)deposition and inhibiting interfacial side ***,the optimized PEDOT@Zn symmetric battery exhibited a cycling stability exceeding 1250 h at 0.5 mA·cm^(-2)and 0.25 mAh·cm^(-2),with a significantly reduced overpotential(from 91.8 to 35 mV).With the assistance of the PEDOT protective layer,the PEDOT@Zn//Cu battery maintained approximately 99.5%Coulombic efficiency after 450 ***-situ scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and in situ optical microscopy characterizations further confirmed that the PEDOT protective layer can effectively suppress the growth of zinc ***,the Zn-ion capacitors assembled by the PEDOT@Zn and activated carbon also demonstrated outstanding cycling stability.

Inland water bodies,including ponds,lakes,reservoirs,and rivers,provide extensive ecosystem services for human *** these,small water bodies(SWBs),such as ponds and small reservoirs,are more common landscape features and important biogeochemical *** can significantly influence biogeochemical processes and hydrologic ***,due to their small size,SWBs(0.1 ha)cover approximately 179300 km^(2),which is approximately 1.8%of the land area in *** addition,the combined shoreline length of the water bodies was approximately 2157400 *** these water bodies,96.85%were SWBs,accounting for 17.85%of the total water area and 76.4% of the total shoreline ***,terrain,and human activity cumulatively explained 45% of the variance in SWB distribution,with precipitation being the strongest climatic explanatory *** results provide important data for determining the roles of SWBs in biogeochemical cycles,habitat protection,and hydrological cycles.

Motion of a rectangular particle in a two-dimensional vertical shear flow of Newtonian fluid and viscoelastic fluid with different parameters is studied using the finite element arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian domain *** results show that the centerline of the channel is a stable equilibrium position for the neutrally buoyant rectangular particle in a vertical shear *** causes the particle to migrate towards the centerline of the *** addition,a critical elasticity number *** the elasticity number is below the critical value,the rectangular particle migrates to the centerline;otherwise the centerline of the channel is apparently no longer a global attractor of trajectories of the particle.

BACKGROUND There is a lack of clinical evidence on the efficacy and safety of transitioning from a thrice-daily pre-mixed insulin or basal-prandial regimen to insulin degludec/aspart(IDegAsp)therapy,with insufficient data from the Chinese *** To demonstrate the efficacy,safety,and treatment satisfaction associated with the transition to IDegAsp in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).METHODS In this 12-week open-label,non-randomized,single-center,pilot study,patients with T2DM receiving thrice-daily insulin or intensive insulin treatment were transitioned to twice-daily injections of insulin *** doses,hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c)levels,fasting blood glucose(FBG),hypoglycemic events,a Diabetes Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire,and other parameters were assessed at baseline and *** This study included 21 participants.A marked enhancement was observed in the FBG level(P=0.02),daily total insulin dose(P=0.03),and overall diabetes treatment satisfaction(P<0.01)in the participants who switched to *** was a decrease in HbA1c levels(7.6±1.1 vs 7.4±0.9,P=0.31)and the frequency of hypoglycemic events of those who switched to IDegAsp decreased,however,there was no statistically significant *** The present findings suggest that treatment with IDegAsp enhances clinical outcomes,particularly FBG levels,daily cumulative insulin dose,and overall satisfaction with diabetes treatment.
