Dextran sulfate sodium-induced colitis-associated neoplasia:a promising model for the development of chemopreventive interventions

Individuals diagnosed with ulcerative colitis face a significantly increased risk ofdeveloping colorectal dysplasia and cancer during their *** date,littleattention has been given to the development of a chemopreventive interventionfor this high-risk *** mouse model of dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis represents an excellent preclinical system in which to both charac-terize the molecular events required for tumor formation in the presence of inflam-mation and assess the ability of select agents to inhibit this *** admin-istration of DSS in drinking water results in the establishment of chronic colitisand the development of colorectal dysplasias and cancers with pathological fea-tures that resemble those of human colitis-associated *** incidenceand multiplicity of lesions observed varies depending on the mouse strain used(ie,Swiss Webster,C57BL/6J,CBA,ICR) and the dose (0.7%-5.0%) and schedule(1-15 cycles with or without a subsequent recovery period) of *** incidenceof neoplasia can be increased and its progression to invasive cancer acceleratedsignificantly by administering DSS in combination with a known colon carcinogen(azoxymethane (AOM),2-amino-3-methylimidazo[4,5-f]quinoline (IQ),2-amino-1-methyl-6-phenylimidazo[4,5-b]pyridine (PhIP)) or *** recent induction ofcolitis-associated neoplasia in genetically defined mouse strains has providednew insight into the role of specific genes (ie,adenomatous polyposis coli (Apc),p53,inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS),Msh2) in the development of colitis-associated *** data from chemopreventive intervention studiesdocument the efficacy of several agents in inhibiting DSS-induced neoplasiaand provide great promise that colitis-associated colorectal neoplasia is a pre-ventable disease.

Protein succinylation is a biochemical reaction in which a succinyl group(-CO-CH2-CH2-CO-)is attached to the lysine residue of a protein *** succinylation plays important regulatory roles in living ***,studies in this field are limited by the difficulty in experimentally identifying the substrate site specificity of lysine *** facilitate this process,several tools have been proposed for the computational identification of succinylated lysine *** this study,we developed an approach to investigate the substrate specificity of lysine succinylated sites based on amino acid *** experimentally verified lysine succinylated sites collected from public resources,the significant differences in position-specific amino acid composition between succinylated and non-succinylated sites were represented using the Two Sample Logo *** findings enabled the adoption of an effective machine learning method,support vector machine,to train a predictive model with not only the amino acid composition,but also the composition of k-spaced amino acid *** the selection of the best model using a ten-fold crossvalidation approach,the selected model significantly outperformed existing tools based on an independent dataset manually extracted from published research ***,the selected model was used to develop a web-based tool,SuccSite,to aid the study of protein *** proteins were used as case studies on the website to demonstrate the effective prediction of succinylation *** will regularly update SuccSite by integrating more experimental *** is freely accessible at http://***/SuccSite/.

Identifying the species composition of a microbial ecosystem is often hampered by difficulties in culturing the organisms and in the low sequencing depth of traditional DNA *** analysis,a huge-scale nucleotide-sequence-based tool,can overcome such *** this study,Sanger sequencing of 500 nrITS clones uncovered 29 taxa of 19 fungal genera,whereas metagenomics with next-generation sequencing identified 512 operational taxonomic units(OTUs)for ITS1/2 and 364 for ITS3/***,high throughput sequencing of PCR amplicons of ITS1/2,ITS3/4,nrLSU-LR,nrLSU-U,mtLSU,and mtATP6,all with at least 1,300×coverage and about 21 million reads in total,yielded a very diverse fungal *** fact that 74%of the OTUs were exclusively uncovered with single barcodes indicated that each marker provided its own insights into the fungal *** deal with the high heterogeneity in the data and to integrate the information on species composition across barcodes,a rank-scoring strategy was ***,205 genera among 64 orders of fungi were identified in healthy Phalaenopsis *** the barcodes utilized,ITS1/2,ITS3/4,and nrLSU-U were the most competent in uncovering the fungal *** barcodes,though detecting different compositions likely due to primer preference,provided complementary and comprehensive power in deciphering the microbial diversity,especially in revealing rare species.

The rapid development of additive manufacturing technology has offered a new avenue for designing and fabricating high wave-absorbing meta *** this study,the mechanical properties and broadband absorption performance of Poly-Ether-Ether-Ketone(PEEK)–based electromagnetic wave–absorbing composite materials was *** high-performance polymer PEEK was used as the matrix,and the materials with electromagnetic wave loss,such as reduced graphene oxide,Carbonyl Iron(CI),and Flake CI(FCI),were used as *** on the theory of impedance matching,a wave-absorbing structure with a gradual impedance gradient was designed and *** test results showed that at the 2.0–18.0 GHz frequency band,the coverage rate of the effective absorption bandwidth was up to 72.0%,the average optimal reflectivity was–18.09 dB,and the wide-angle absorption range was 0°–30°.The advantages of additive manufacturing technology in designing and fabricating wave-absorbing structures are presented,demonstrating that the technology is an effective method for creating broadband absorbing structures.

The relationship between dialkylphosphinic acid structure and their loading capacity for HREEs and emulsification phenomena has rarely been *** this paper,we took Lu extraction as an example to study the effect of β,γ,δ-substituents of dialkylphosphinic acids on their loading capacity and anti-emulsification performance for *** discuss conveniently,the dialkylphosphinic acids were classified into two groups:β-substituent group(P208,INET-1,P218,USTB-1 and P227)and γ,δ-substituent group(P218,P2132 and Cyanex 272).For β-substituent group extractants,their loading capacities are in the order P208(299.7 mg/L)≈INET-1(299.5 mg/L)>P218(270.8 mg/L)>>USTB-1(163.1 mg/L)>P227(151.4 mg/L),while their anti-emulsification/gelation performances are just in the opposite order P227>USTB-1>P218>P208≈INET-1 under the studied *** γ,δ-substituent group extractants,their loading capacities are in the order P218(270.8 mg/L)>P2132(192.3 mg/L)>Cyanex272(131.7 mg/L),while the anti-emulsification performance of P218 is better than those of P2132 and Cyanex *** loading capacity data given in the parentheses are obtained through repeatedly extracting Lu from ~4×10^(-4)mol/L of Lu aqueous feed solution with initial pH of 2.40 by 0.01 mol/L extractant at phase ratio A/O of 1:1.

Visual test paper based on Au/δ-MnO_(2) hollow nanosphere oxidase-like activity regulation using hexavalent chromium as a smart switch
