Frequency and associated factors of accommodation and non-strabismic binocular vision dysfunction among medical university students

AIM:To investigate the frequency and associated factors of accommodation and non-strabismic binocular vision dysfunction among medical university ***:Totally 158 student volunteers underwent routine vision examination in the optometry clinic of Guangxi Medical *** data were used to identify the different types of accommodation and nonstrabismic binocular vision dysfunction and to determine their *** analysis and logistic regression were used to examine the factors associated with these ***:The results showed that 36.71%of the subjects had accommodation and non-strabismic binocular vision issues,with 8.86%being attributed to accommodation dysfunction and 27.85%to binocular *** insufficiency(CI)was the most common abnormality,accounting for 13.29%.Those with these abnormalities experienced higher levels of eyestrain(χ2=69.518,P<0.001).The linear correlations were observed between the difference of binocular spherical equivalent(SE)and the index of horizontal esotropia at a distance(r=0.231,P=0.004)and the asthenopia survey scale(ASS)score(r=0.346,P<0.001).Furthermore,the right eye's SE was inversely correlated with the convergence of positive and negative fusion images at close range(r=-0.321,P<0.001),the convergence of negative fusion images at close range(r=-0.294,P<0.001),the vergence facility(VF;r=-0.234,P=0.003),and the set of negative fusion images at far range(r=-0.237,P=0.003).Logistic regression analysis indicated that gender,age,and the difference in right and binocular SE did not influence the emergence of these ***:Binocular vision abnormalities are more prevalent than accommodation dysfunction,with CI being the most frequent *** binocular refractive disparity leads to more severe eyestrain symptoms.

The Rabi oscillations in two-component Bose-Einstein condensates with a coupling drive are studiedby means of a pair of bosonic operators. The coupling drive and initial phase difference will affect the amplitudeand the period of the Rabi oscillations. The Rabi oscillations will vanish in the evolution of the condensate densityfor some special initial phase differences (ψ = 0 or π). Our theory provides not only an analytical framework forquantitative predictions for two-component condensates, but also gives an intuitive understanding of some mysteriousfeatures observed in experiments and numerical. simulations.

Chinese Medicine for Idiopathic Parkinson's Disease:A Meta Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Objective：To evaluate the efficacy of Chinese medicine（CM）adjunct to conventional medications for idiopathic Parkinson’s disease（PD）.Methods：Electronic English and Chinese databases including Pub Med,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,Chinese Medical Current Contents,China National Knowledge Infrastructure,China Science and Technology Journal Database,Wanfang Med Database,and Traditional Chinese Medical Database System were used for key words searching in a highly sensitive search *** extracted data was analyzed by the Review Manager ***：Twelve trials involving 869 participants were included in the *** PD Rating Scale（UPDRS）Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳscores and UPDRSⅠ–Ⅳtotal scores were used to be the primary outcomes,Parkinson Disease Question-39（PDQ-39）and Scores of Chinese Medical Symptoms were the secondary *** adjunct therapy had greater improvement in UPDRSⅠ[2 trials;standardized mean difference（SMD）–0.40,95%confidence interval（CI）–0.71 to–0.09;Z=2.49（P=0.01）],Ⅱ[5 trials;SMD–0.47,95%CI–0.69 to–0.25;Z=4.20（P〈0.01）],Ⅲ[5 trials;SMD-0.35,95%CI–0.57 to–0.13;Z=3.16（P=0.002）],Ⅳscores[3 trials;SMD-0.32,95%CI–0.60 to–0.03;Z=2.17（P=0.03）],UPDRSⅠ–Ⅳtotal scores[7 trials;SMD-0.36,95%CI–0.53 to–0.20;Z=4.24（P〈0.05）].PDQ-39 and Chinese medical symptoms compared to the conventional medication ***：CM adjunct therapy has potential therapeutic benefits by decreasing UPDRS scores and reducing adverse effect.

Changes in lumbosacral spinal nerve roots on diffusion tensor imaging in spinal stenosis

Lumbosacral degenerative disc disease is a common cause of lower back and leg pain. Conventional T1-weighted imaging（T1WI） and T2-weighted imaging（T2WI） scans are commonly used to image spinal cord degeneration. However, these modalities are unable to image the entire lumbosacral spinal nerve roots. Thus, in the present study, we assessed the potential of diffusion tensor imaging（DTI） for quantitative assessment of compressed lumbosacral spinal nerve roots. Subjects were 20 young healthy volunteers and 31 patients with lumbosacral stenosis. T2 WI showed that the residual dural sac area was less than two-thirds that of the corresponding normal area in patients from L3 to S1 stenosis. On T1 WI and T2 WI, 74 lumbosacral spinal nerve roots from 31 patients showed compression changes. DTI showed thinning and distortion in 36 lumbosacral spinal nerve roots（49%） and abruption in 17 lumbosacral spinal nerve roots（23%）. Moreover, fractional anisotropy values were reduced in the lumbosacral spinal nerve roots of patients with lumbosacral stenosis. These findings suggest that DTI can objectively and quantitatively evaluate the severity of lumbosacral spinal nerve root compression.

The Relationship of PSA,PSAD and Clinicopathological Stage in Patients with Prostate Cancer

OBJECTIVE To investigate the relationship between the clinicopatho- logical stage and serum prostate specific antigen(PSA)concentration and PSAdensity(PSAD)in patients with prostate cancer. METHODS The clinicopathological stage was determined on the basis of a pathological examination and clinical data in 65 prostate cancer patients treated by radical *** and PSAD were measured before the *** Spearman rank correlation was applied to evaluate the relationship between the clinicopathological stage,serum PSAconcentration and PSAD. RESULTS Patients with higher PSA and PSAD were significantly more likely to have higher clinical stages,a higher Gleason score,positive surgical margins,capsular penetration,and seminal vesicle invasion(each P<0.05). But there was no significant association between PSA and lymph node metastasis(P=0.053).The levels of serum PSA concentration and PSAD were significantly correlated with the clinical stage(P<0.05)in the prostate cancer patients. CONCLUSION The level of both PSA and PSAD were significantly correlated with the clinical stage(P<0.05)in the prostate cancer *** PSAD may be a more powerful predictor of clinical stage and prognosis than PSA.

Maxillary protrusion combined with mandibular retraction is a highly prevalent but extremely complex maxillofacial deformity that can have a serious negative impact on patients’facial aesthetics and mental *** traditional orthodontic treatment strategy often involves extracting 4 first premolars and conventional fixed techniques,combined with mini-implant screws,to retract the anterior teeth and improve facial *** recent years,an invisible orthodontic technique,without brackets,has become increasingly ***,while an invisible aligner has been used in some cases with reasonable results,there remain significant challenges in achieving a perfect *** case report presents an adolescent patient with bimaxillary protrusion and mandibular *** on the characteristics of the invisible aligners and the growth characteristics of the adolescent’s teeth and jawbone,we designed precise three-dimensional tooth movement and corresponding resistance/over-correction for each tooth,while utilizing the patient’s jawbone growth potential to promote rapid development of the mandible,accurately and efficiently correcting bimaxillary protrusion and skeletal mandibular *** patient’s facial aesthetics,especially the lateral morphology,have been greatly improved,and various aesthetic indicators have also shown significant changes,and to the patient’s great benefit,invasive mini-implant screws were not used during the *** case highlights the advantages of using invisible aligners in adolescent maxillary protrusion combined with mandibular retraction ***,comprehensive and accurate design combined with good application of growth potential can also enable invisible orthodontic technology to achieve perfect treatment effects in tooth extractions,providing clinical guidance for orthodontists.

The structure ofV2O5-P2O5-Sb2O3-Bi2O3glass and its state of crystallization were studied by means of infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis. The results indicate that, in this glass, V and P exist mainly in the form of a single-stranded linear （VO3）n and an isolated （PO4） tetrahedral with no double bond. Partial V and P are connected through O, forming an amorphous structure of layered vana- dium phosphate. Trivalent Sb3＋ and Bi3＋ open the V=O bond and appear in interlayers, so a weak three-dimensional structure is connected successfully. Along with the substitution of Sb203 for partial V205 or that of P205 for partial V205, the network structure of the glass is rein- forced, and the crystallization is reduced.

Effect of stainless steel fibers on properties of MgO-C refractories

MgO-C refractories with stainless steel fibers were prepared to investigate the effects of stainless steel fibers addition on the thermal shock resistance,oxidation resistance,and microstructure of MgO-C refractories,and the optimum amount of stainless steel fibers was *** results showed that adding stainless steel fiber in MgO-C refractories can increase flexural strength and thermal shock resistance,with an optimal addition of 2 wt.%,owing to the bridging effect and crack deflection toughening of stainless steel fibers inside the *** formation of MgAl1.9Fe0.1O4 composite spinel,which was responsible for higher oxidation resistance,produced volume expansion and prevented the diffusion of *** strengthening mechanism is physical embedding at room temperature,while it is reaction bonding at high temperature.

Critical embedment depth of a rigid retaining wall against overturning in unsaturated soils considering intermediate principal stress and strength nonlinearity

The overturning stability is vital for the retaining wall design of foundation pits, where the surrounding soils are usually unsaturated due to water draining. Moreover, the intermediate principal stress does affect the unsaturated soil strength; meanwhile, the relationship between the unsaturated soil strength and matric suction is nonlinear. This work is to present closed-form equations of critical embedment depth for a rigid retaining wall against overturning by means of moment equilibrium. Matric suction is considered to be distributed uniformly and linearly with depth. The unified shear strength formulation for unsaturated soils under the plane strain condition is adopted to characterize the intermediate principal stress effect, and strength nonlinearity is described by a hyperbolic model of suction angle. The result obtained is orderly series solutions rather than one specific answer; thus, it has wide theoretical significance and good applicability. The validity of this present work is demonstrated by comparing it with a lower bound solution. The traditional overturning designs for rigid retaining walls, in which the saturated soil mechanics neglecting matric suction or the unsaturated soil mechanics based on the Mohr-Coulomb criterion are employed, are special cases of the proposed result. Parametric studies about the intermediate principal stress, matric suction and its distributions along with two strength nonlinearity methods on a new defined critical buried coefficient are discussed.

Electronic Structures and Spectroscopic Properties of a Novel Iridium (Ⅲ) Complex with an Ancillary Ligand 2-(4-Trifluoromethyl -2-Hydroxylphenyl)Benzothiazole

Iridium(Ⅲ)complexes with 2−phenylpyridine(ppy)have been demonstrated as a type of promising phosphorescence dopant in emitting layers of organic light emitting diodes(OLEDs).In most iridium(III)complexes,there exist the strong spin−orbit coupling betweenπ−orbitals of cyclometalated ligands and 5d orbitals of the centric *** study a novel iridium(Ⅲ)complex(ppy)2Ir(4−TfmBTZ)with ppy as cyclometalated ligands and 2-(4-trifluoromethyl-2-hydroxylphenyl)benzothiazole(4-TfmBTZ)as an ancillary ligand using the Gaussian 03 *** geometries,electronic structures and spectroscopic properties of this iridium(Ⅲ)complex are investigated by density functional theory(DFT)and time−dependent density functional theory(TD-DFT).The results show that the spin-orbit coupling occurs not only between ppy and iridium atom but also between 4-TfmBTZ and iridium atom in this *** highest occupied molecular orbital is dominantly localized on the Ir atom and 4-TfmBTZ ligand,while the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital on 4-TfmBTZ *** triplet lowest-lying transition is attributed to the Ir-to-4-TfmBTZ charge-transfer(3MLCT)transition while the sub−low-lying transitions are assigned to the 3MLCT transitions of Ir(ppy)*** nature of the lowest unoccupied orbital changes from ppy−localized to 4-TfmBTZ-localized and reveals that phosphorescent color of Ir(Ⅲ)complex can be controlled by the ancillary ligand and substituent.
