Due to exponential increases in incidences,low risk papillary thyroid microcarcinoma(PTMC)has become a clinical and social issue in recent years.An active surveillance(AS)management approach is an alternative to immediate surgery for patients with low risk PTMC.With decreased doubts about the safety and validity due to evidence from a large number of studies,the AS approach has become increasingly popular worldwide.However,Chinese thyroid surgeons still lag behind other countries in their knowledge of clinical practices and research related to AS.To promote the implementation of AS in China,thyroid surgeons should understand the implications,advantages,and disadvantages of management approaches for AS,and should also consider the willingness of Chinese patients,the impact on the medical billing system,and the enthusiasm of doctors.Thus,a management approach for AS based on the Chinese population should be developed to reduce the risk of disease progression and enhance patient adherence.Herein,we summarize the recent research achievements and deficiencies in AS approaches,and describe the initial experiences regarding AS in the Chinese population,in order to assist Chinese thyroid surgeons in preparing for AS management in the era of PTMC precision medicine.

In this paper,we consider the P-prize-collecting set cover(P-PCSC)problem,which is a generalization of the set cover problem.In this problem,we are given a set system(U,S),where U is a ground set and S⊆2U is a collection of subsets satisfying∪S∈SS=U.Every subset in S has a nonnegative cost,and every element in U has a nonnegative penalty cost and a nonnegative profit.Our goal is to find a subcollection C⊆S such that the total cost,consisting of the cost of subsets in C and the penalty cost of the elements not covered by C,is minimized and at the same time the combined profit of the elements covered by C is at least P,a specified profit bound.Our main work is to obtain a 2f+ε-approximation algorithm for the P-PCSC problem by using the primal-dual and Lagrangian relaxation methods,where f is the maximum frequency of an element in the given set system(U,S)andεis a fixed positive number.

Stormwater reuse is one of the most important ways to mitigate water resource shortage.However,urban stormwater contains many bacteria species,which threaten the reuse safety.Therefore,stormwater disinfection is highly needed.Although disinfection has been widely conducted in the drinking water and reclaimed water,it is rarely carried out for stormwater.This study collected the roof stormwater and undertook chlorination disinfection.Two typical bacteria,Escherichia coli(E.coli)and Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus)were selected in this study to investigate the disinfection efficiency.It is found that bacteria species present in the stormwater had an important influence on disinfection efficiency while the original stormwater quality did not show an obvious affect.However,when the disinfected stormwater was stored,the stormwater quality was highly variable during its storage process and the variability was affected by bacteria species.The S.aureus containing stormwater showed a high variability of quality and S.aureus significantly regrew.However,the E.coli containing stormwater quality had a relatively low variability and E.coli did not significantly regrew.Additionally,it is noted that after storage,the dissolved form of stormwater was more positive to the freshwater algae’s growth while the particulate form(including bacteria and other particulate matters)was less.This implies that a further treatment such as filtration is needed before the stored stormwater is recharged into receiving waters in order to remove particulate forms.These research outcomes can provide useful insight to effective stormwater disinfection and ensure reuse safety.

This study aimed to identify the pathological outcomes and survival benefits of neoadjuvant hormone therapy(NHT)combined with radical prostatectomy(RP)and radiotherapy(RT)administered to patients with high-risk prostate cancer(HRPCa).We searched PubMed,Embase,and the Cochrane Library for studies comparing NHT plus RP or RT with RP or RT alone,administered to patients with HRPCa.We used a random-effects model to compute risk estimates with 95%confidence intervals(CIs)and quantified heterogeneity using the I2 statistic.Subgroup and sensitivity analyses were performed to identify potential sources of heterogeneity.We selected 16 studies.NHT before RP significantly decreased lymph node involvement(risk ratio[RR]=0.69,95%CI:0.56–0.87)and increased the rates of pathological downstaging(RR=2.62,95%CI:1.22–5.61)and organ-confinement(RR=2.24,95%CI:1.54–3.25),but did not improve overall survival and biochemical progression-free survival(bPFS).The administration of NHT before RT to patients with HRPCa was associated with significant benefits for cancer-specific survival(hazard ratio[HR]=0.51,95%CI:0.39–0.68),disease-free survival(HR=0.51,95%CI:0.44–0.60),and bPFS(HR=0.54,95%CI:0.46–0.64).Short-term NHT combined with RT administered to patients with HRPCa conferred significant improvements.Although the advantage of local control was observed when NHT was administered before RP,there was no significant survival benefit associated with HRPCa.Therefore,short-term NHT combined with RT is recommended for implementation in standard clinical practice but not for patients who undergo RP.

Paleo-pressure reconstruction in sedimentary basins is one of the most important aspects of hydrocarbon accumulation research.In view of the advantages and disadvantages of the current methods for paleo-pressure research,a new method to reconstruct the paleo-pressure is presented in this paper.According to the geological background,quantitative analyses of the factors that might control overpressure were first conducted to clarify the contributions of each mechanism during different geological periods.Pressure evolution was reconstructed by fluid-compaction modelling with constraints imposed by the paleo-pressures obtained from fluid inclusions or differential stress methods.Determining the mechanisms responsible for overpressures during geological history is the basic prerequisite for paleo-pressure research.Thus,quantitative studies were conducted of the contributions of disequilibrium compaction,gas charging,oil cracking,temperature reduction,and tectonic uplift and subsidence to overpressures.Three case studies of paleo-pressure reconstruction were performed for the Sinian strata in the Sichuan Basin,Ordovician strata in the north uplift in the Tarim Basin and the Permian strata in the Sulige Gas Field in the Ordos Basin,where these three study sites are normally pressured,weakly over-pressured and abnormally low pressured at present,respectively.The new method developed in this paper is very important for the practical reconstruction of the paleopressure in marine strata and ancient strata in deep basins.

Dehydration of serine/threonine residues necessitates the activity of a dehydratase enzyme(domain)during the biosynthesis of RiPP.Recently,it was reported that dehydration in the thioviridamide pathway relies on a distinct dehydratase complex that showcases the activities of a phosphotransferase TvaC for serine/threonine phosphorylation and a lyase TvaD for subsequent phosphate elimination.Herein,we report that dehydration reactions in the pathway of lantibiotic cacaoidin involves a similar dehydratase complex,CaoK/CaoY.Remarkably,this dehydratase complex exhibits flexible enzymatic activity and tolerates significant variations in its substrate peptide sequence.By binding with the leader peptide(LP)sequence of precursor peptide CaoA,the dehydration reactions proceed in a directional manner from the C-terminus of the core peptide(CP)to the N-terminus,and C-terminally truncated variants of CP are acceptable.We show that fusing CaoK to CaoY in a 1:1 molar ratio enables the resulting enzyme CaoYK to exert enhanced dehydration activity.CaoK binds with the LP to improve its own solubility and to ensure the phosphate transfer activity,while CaoY functions in a manner independently of LP.This work advances our understanding of the dehydration process during cacaoidin formation,and provides useful enzymes and methods for the studies of the rapidly emerging RiPPs.

We devote to the calculation of Batalin–Vilkovisky algebra structures on the Hochschild cohomology of skew Calabi–Yau generalized Weyl algebras.We first establish a Van den Bergh duality at the level of complex.Then based on the results of Solotar et al.,we apply Kowalzig and Krähmer's method to the Hochschild homology of generalized Weyl algebras,and translate the homological information into cohomological one by virtue of the Van den Bergh duality,obtaining the desired Batalin–Vilkovisky algebra structures.Finally,we apply our results to quantum weighted projective lines and Podleśquantum spheres,and the Batalin–Vilkovisky algebra structures for them are described completely.

Capacity Analysis and Sum Rate Maximization for the SCMA Cellular Network Coexisting with D2D Communications

Sparse code multiple access (SCMA) is the most concerning scheme among non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) technologies for 5G wireless communication new interface. Another efficient technique in 5G aimed to improve spectral efficiency for local communications is device-to-device (D2D) communications. Therefore, we utilize the SCMA cellular network coexisting with D2D communications for the connection demand of the Internet of things (IOT), and improve the system sum rate performance of the hybrid network. We first derive the information-theoretic expression of the capacity for all users and find the capacity bound of cellular users based on the mutual interference between cellular users and D2D users. Then we consider the power optimization problem for the cellular users and D2D users jointly to maximize the system sum rate. To tackle the non-convex optimization problem, we propose a geometric programming (GP) based iterative power allocation algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm converges fast and well improves the sum rate performance.
