Acute upper airway obstruction(UAO)in children is a common disease in the emergency department.It is life-threatening and usually caused by laryngospasm or laryn-geal edema owing to infection,allergy,or a foreign body.1 In addition,pediatric UAO can also be the result of laryngopharyngeal space-occupying lesions,such as laryngeal papilloma,lymphangioma,hemangioma,or cyst.Malignancy is uncommon.

Phyllosphere is an important reservoir of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs),but the transfer mechanism of ARGs from soil and air to phyllosphere remains unclear.This study demonstrated that soil-air-phyllosphere was the dominant ARG transfer pathway,and blocking it by film mulching can reduce typical phyllosphere ARGs in lettuce by 80.7%-98.7%(89.5%on average).To further eliminate phyllosphere ARGs in lettuce grown with film mulching,the internal soil-endosphere-phyllosphere transfer pathway deserves more attention.We analyzed the ARG hosts and the resistome in lettuce rhizosphere and phyllosphere with film mulching via hybrid Illumina-Nanopore sequencing.Pseudomonas sp.7SR1 was more abundant than other ARG hosts,accounting for 1.0%and 47.1%of the total bacteria in rhizosphere and phyllosphere,respectively.The species has flagella that can promote mobility and can excrete extracellular polymeric substances and/or surfactant-like microbial products,which benefits its colonization in the phyllosphere.Impeding the migration of Pseudomonas sp.7SR1 via the soil-endosphere-phyllosphere pathway would be effective to further reduce ARGs in phyllosphere.Multidrug resistant genes were predominant in phyllosphere(40.3%of the total),and 87.6%of the phyllosphere ARGs were located on chromosomes,indicating relatively low horizontal gene transfer(HGT)potentials.This study provides insights into the transfer mechanism,hosts,and control strategies of phyllosphere ARGs in typical plants.

Objective liraglutide is a commonly used hypoglycemic agent in clinical practice,and has been demonstrated to have protective effects against the development of cardiovascular disease.However,its potential role in myocardial fibrosis remains unexplored.The present study aims to assess the impact of liraglutide on the activation of cardiac fibroblasts.Methods Primary rat adult fibroblasts were isolated,cultured,and randomly allocated into 4 groups:control group,transforming growth factor beta1(TGFβ1)stimulation group,liraglutide group,and TGFβ1+liraglutide group.Fibroblast activation was induced by TGFβ1.Cell proliferation activity was assessed using the CKK-8 kit,and cellular activity was determined using the MTT kit.Reverse transcrition-quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR)was utilized to quantify the level of collagen transcription,immunofluorescence staining was performed to detect the expression level of type III collagen andα-smooth muscle protein(α-SMA),and immunoblotting was conducted to monitor alterations in signal pathways.Results The addition of 10,25,50 and 100 nmol/L of liraglutide did not induce any significant impact on the viability of fibroblasts(P>0.05).The rate of cellular proliferation was significantly higher in the TGFβl stimulation group than in the control group.However,the treatment with 50 and 100 nmol/L of liraglutide resulted in the reduction of TGFβl-induced cell proliferation(Pliraglutide group(P<0.05).The immunofluorescence staining results revealed a significant increase in the expression levels of type III collagen andα-SMA in the TGFβl stimulation group,when compared to the control group(P<0.05).However,these expression levels significantly decreased in the TG

Probabilistic time series forecasting aims at estimating future probabilistic distributions based on given time series observations.It is a widespread challenge in various tasks,such as risk management and decision making.To investigate temporal patterns in time series data and predict subsequent probabilities,the state space model(SSM)provides a general framework.Variants of SSM achieve considerable success in many fields,such as engineering and statistics.However,since underlying processes in real-world scenarios are usually unknown and complicated,actual time series observations are always irregular and noisy.Therefore,it is very difficult to determinate an SSM for classical statistical approaches.In this paper,a general time series forecasting framework,called Deep Nonlinear State Space Model(DNLSSM),is proposed to predict the probabilistic distribution based on estimated underlying unknown processes from historical time series data.We fuse deep neural networks and statistical methods to iteratively estimate states and network parameters and thus exploit intricate temporal patterns of time series data.In particular,the unscented Kalman filter(UKF)is adopted to calculate marginal likelihoods and update distributions recursively for non-linear functions.After that,a non-linear Joseph form covariance update is developed to ensure that calculated covariance matrices in UKF updates are symmetric and positive definitive.Therefore,the authors enhance the tolerance of UKF to round-off errors and manage to combine UKF and deep neural networks.In this manner,the DNLSSM effectively models non-linear correlations between observed time series data and underlying dynamic processes.Experiments in both synthetic and real-world datasets demonstrate that the DNLSSM consistently improves the accuracy of probability forecasts compared to the baseline methods.

This paper extends the criterion of the misclassification ratio of discriminant model and presents a new selection method of discriminant model.For selecting the discriminant model,this method establishes the rule of misclassification degree ratio through misclassification ratio of the discriminant model and misclassification degree of the samples.To test the effect of this method,this work uses seven UCI data sets.Numerical experiments on these examples indicate that this method has certain rationality and has a better effect to select a discriminant model.

Use of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist or dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitor has been shown to lower the incidence of Parkinson's disease in patients with diabetes mellitus.Therefore,using these two treatments may help treat Parkinson's disease.To further investigate the mechanisms of action of these two compounds,we established a model of Parkinson's disease by treating mice with 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine and then subcutaneously injected them with the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist exendin-4 or the dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitor linagliptin.We found that both exendin-4 and linagliptin reversed motor dysfunction,glial activation,and dopaminergic neuronal death in this model.In addition,both exendin-4 and linagliptin induced microglial polarization to the anti-inflammatory M2 phenotype and reduced pro-inflammatory cytokine secretion.Moreover,in vitro experiments showed that treatment with exendin-4 and linagliptin inhibited activation of the nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-and leucine-rich-repeat-and pyrin-domaincontaining 3/caspase-1/interleukin-1βpathway and subsequent pyroptosis by decreasing the production of reactive oxygen species.These findings suggest that exendin-4 and linagliptin exert neuroprotective effects by attenuating neuroinflammation through regulation of microglial polarization and the nucleotidebinding oligomerization domain-and leucine-rich-repeat-and pyrin-domain-containing 3/caspase-1/interleukin-1βpathway in a mouse model of Parkinson's disease induced by 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine.Therefore,these two drugs may serve as novel anti-inflammatory treatments for Parkinson's disease.

liver transplantation is the optimal treatment for patients with end-stage liver disease,metabolic liver diseases,and hepatic malignancies that are not amenable to resection.Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI)is the main problem in liver transplantation and liver resection,leading to parenchymal cell injury and organ dysfunction.The damage of liver sinusoidal endothelial cells(LSECs)is a critical event in IRI.LSECs work as an important regulating factor of liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy.This review primarily describes the mechanisms of LSECs injury in IRI and explores the roles of LSECs in liver regeneration,and briefly introduces the protective strategies targeting LSECs damaged in IRI.

To the Editor:Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD),also named sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy (SHML),was first reported by Rosai and Dorfman in 1969.[1] Nodal RDD is usually characterized by massive lymphadenopathy;however,extranodal RDD is uncommon,its more severe fibrosis and fewer histiocytes in the lesion make it more difficult to diagnose than nodal RDD.[2] We herein describe a patient with both extranodal RDD in the hypopharynx,larynx,and cervical lymph nodes and a long history of half body stabbing pain that disappeared after surgical excision.

An improved ensemble empirical mode decomposition(IEEMD) is suggested to process water quality spectral signals in order to address the issue that noise interference makes it difficult to extract and evaluate water quality spectral signals.This algorithm effectively solves the problems of modal mixing,poor reconstruction accuracy in the empirical mode decomposition(EMD),and a large amount of calculation in the ensemble empirical mode decomposition(EEMD).Based on EEMD,IEEMD firstly preprocesses the original water quality spectral signals,then performs Savitzky-Golay(S-G) smoothing on the decomposed effective intrinsic mode function(IMF) components,and finally reconstructs them to obtain the denoised signals.Water sample data at different concentrations can be accurately analyzed based on the noise-reduced spectral signals.In this paper,three water quality parameters are used as research objects:benzene(C_(6)H_(6)),benzo(b)fluoranthene(C_(20)H_(12)),and chemical oxygen demand(COD).The original water quality multi-parameter(C_(6)H_(6),C_(20)H_(12),COD) spectral signals were subjected to denoising based on the IEEMD and the water quality multi-parameter joint detection technology.The signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) and the correlation coefficient(R^(2)) of the fitted curves obtained from the processing of the IEEMD were compared and analyzed with those obtained from the processing of the EMD and the EEMD.The experimental results show that the SNR of the spectral signals and the R^(2) of the fitting curve in three water quality parameters have been significantly improved.Therefore,the IEEMD effectively improves the phenomenon of modal mixing,reduces the amount of calculation,improves the reconstruction accuracy,and provides an important guarantee for the effective extraction of multi-parameter spectral signals of water quality.

The ceramic filter in continuous casting tundish can effectively improve the cleanliness of high-performance steel by regulating tundish flow field to promote the removal of inclusions and adsorbing or blocking fine inclusions in the molten steel into the mold.The interaction between microporous magnesia refractories used as tundish filter and molten interstitial-free(IF)steel at 1873 K was investigated to reveal the formation mechanism of their interface layer and its effect on steel cleanliness by laboratory research and thermodynamic calculations.The results show that the magnesium–aluminum spinel layer at the interface between the molten IF steel and the microporous magnesia refractories is formed mainly by the reaction of MgO in the refractory with the[Al]and[O]in the molten steel,significantly reducing the total O content,the size and amount of inclusions of the molten steel.In addition,the interparticle phases of microporous magnesia refractories at high temperature can adsorb Al_(2)O_(3) and TiO_(2) inclusions in the molten steel into interparticle channels of the refractories to form high melting point spinel,impeding the further penetration of the molten steel.As a result,the consecutive interface layer of high melting point spinel between microporous magnesia refractories and molten steel can improve the cleanliness of the molten steel by adsorbing inclusions in the molten steel and avoid the direct dissolution of refractories of the tundish ceramic filter immersed in the molten steel,increasing their service life.
