Objective:To determine whether B vitamin treatment was sufficient to reduce cognitive impairment associated with high-fat diets in rats and to modulate transketolase(TK)expression and ***:To test this,we separated 50 rats into five groups that were either fed a standard chow diet(controls)or a high-fat diet(experimental groups HO,HI,H2,and H3).HO group animals received no additional dietary supplementation,while H1 group animals were administered 100 mg/kg body weight(BW)thiamine,100 mg/kg BW riboflavin,and 250 mg/kg BW niacin each day,and group H2 animals received daily doses of 100 mg/kg BW pyridoxine,100 mg/kg BW cobalamin,and 5 mg/kg BW *** in the H3 group received the B vitamin regimens administered to both H1 and H2 each ***:Over time,group HO exhibited greater increases in BW and fat mass relative to other *** spatial and memory capabilities in these animals were evaluated via conditioned taste aversion(CTA)and Morris Water maze(MWM),we found B vitamin treatment was associated with significant improvements relative to untreated HO ***,B vitamin supplementation was associated with elevated TK expression in erythrocytes and hypothalamus of treated animals relative to those in HO(Pmay be a beneficial method for reducing cognitive dysfunction in clinical settings associated with high-fat diets.

OBJECTIVE To analyze the causes of renal artery stenosis(RAS)and compare the clinical characteristics in accordance with the primary disease among patients aged from 30 to *** Patients were grouped by etiologies of *** were retrospectively examined and compared regarding demographic data,clinical manifestations,laboratory findings,and imaging *** A total of 152 patients(74 females,78 males;mean age:40.70±6.01 years)were enrolled,including 84 patients(55.3%)with atherosclerosis(AS),46 patients(30.3%)with Takayasu arteritis(TA),18 patients(11.8%)with fibromuscular dysplasia(FMD),and four patients(2.6%)with other *** in AS group had greater body mass index,higher prevalence of comorbidities and higher rate of smoking and drinking *** patients showed more constitutional symptoms and vascular findings,and higher erythrocyte sedimentation *** in both AS group and TA group mainly located on ostia and proximal segments,but RAS in FMD group mainly involved middle to distal segment of renal *** AS group had significantly lesser stenosis than the other *** renal function evaluated by the estimated glomerular filtration rate did not significantly differ among the groups,the incidence of kidney shrinkage was significantly higher in the TA and FMD groups(39.1%and 50%,respectively)than in the AS group(8.3%).The FMD group had milder cardiac damage than other *** AS was the most common cause of RAS in patients aged from 30 to 50,followed by TA and *** etiology of RAS should be carefully distinguished based on clinical manifestations,laboratory findings,and imaging to ensure that proper treatment is provided.

Background Tuberculosis (TB) infection has been reported to have a possible relationship with the occurrence and clinical course of Takayasu arteritis (TA). We aimed to describe the characteristics of TB in a large population of TA patients. Methods We included a total of 1105 patients with TA, who were hospitalized between January 1992 and December 2017. Comparisons of clinical features were made according to the presence of TB. Results Among the 1105 patients, 109 (9.9%) had TB, including 53 patients (48.6%) diagnosed with TB before the onset of TA, 23 (21.1%) with a concurrent diagnosis of TB and TA, and 24 patients (22.0%) who developed TB after TA. Pulmonary TB was the most frequently identified (97 patients, 89.0%). Patients with TB had more frequent involvement of the pulmonary artery and experienced more chest discomfort and constitutional symptoms but had less interventional treatment. Demographic characteristics, comorbid diseases, and use of steroids were similar between patients with and without TB. Conclusions The proportion of Chinese TA patients with TB was not low, and about half of the patients had TB before TA. Pulmonary TB was the most common. Pulmonary artery involvement and pulmonary hypertension was more frequent in TA patients with TB.

Objective Vitamin D(VD)deficiency was reported to contribute to the progression of Crohn’s disease(CD)and affect the prognosis of CD *** study investigated the role of serum VD,body mass index(BMI),and tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α)in the diagnosis of Crohn’s *** CD patients(n=76)and healthy subjects(n=76)were enrolled between may 2019 and December *** serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D[25(OH)D]levels,BMI,and TNF-αlevels,together with other biochemical parameters,were assessed before *** diagnostic efficacy of the single and joint detection of serum 25(OH)D,BMI,and TNF-αwas determined using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)*** The levels of 25(OH)D,BMI,and nutritional indicators,including hemoglobin,total protein,albumin,and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol,were much lower,and the TNF-αlevels were much higher in the CD patients than in the healthy subjects(Pmal cutoff values being 20.64 ng/mL,19.77 kg/m^(2),and 6.85 fmol/mL,*** diagnostic efficacy of the joint detection of 25(OH)D,BMI,and TNF-αwas the highest,with an area under the ROC curve of 0.988(95%CI:0.968–1.000).Conclusion The joint detection of 25(OH)D,TNF-α,and BMI showed high sensitivity,specificity,and accuracy in CD diagnosis;thus,it would be effective for the diagnosis of CD in clinical practice.

Background Anemia is a common comorbidity of patients with Takayasu arteritis(TA). This study evaluated the prevalence, clinical characteristics, and treatment in Chinese TA patients with anemia. Methods This retrospective study included 533 consecutive patients hospitalized for TA from January 2009 to April 2018. Anemia was diagnosed on the basis of hemoglobin level, according to World Health Organization criteria. Results A total of 194 patients(36.4%) were diagnosed with anemia. Most had mild anemia(177, 91.2%). Female patients were predominant(92.8% of anemic patients). Normocytic anemia(62.9%) was the most common pattern. Anemic patients were more likely than non-anemic patients to have dizziness(29.4% vs. 21.2%), low body mass index(22.0 ± 3.6 vs. 22.9 ± 3.4 kg/m2), and active disease stage(64.9% vs. 50.1%);pulmonary involvement(12.4% vs. 26.8%), pulmonary hypertension(12.9% vs. 20.1%) and pulmonary hypertensive-target drugs(2.8% vs. 11.6%) were less common among anemic than non-anemic patients(all P male patients. Patients with anemia are more likely to be in the active disease stage. Iron supplementation helps increase hemoglobin.

Relationships between Weight Status and Bullying Victimization among School-aged Adolescents in Guangdong Province of China

Objective To examine relationships between weight status and different forms of bullying victimization among adolescents aged 11-18 years. Methods The relationships between weight status and bullying victimization （physical, verbal, and relational） were examined utilizing data from the Guangdong Provincial Youth Health Behavior Survey. Data on height, weight, and victimization behaviors were collected by self-reporting from 12 439 subjects, Х^2 test and logistic regression were used to analyze relationships between weight and bullying victimization. Results The incidence of victimization for adolescents aged 11-18 years was 8.6%, with higher rates for boys （12.4%） than for girls （4.7%）. For children with normal, overweight and obese body mass index （BMI）, the incidence rates of victimization were 8,2%, 17.3%, and 11.5%, respectively. Compared to normal weight, overweight was a risk factor for bullying victimization（OR=1.60, 95% CI： 1.18-2.17）, and it also increased children＇s risk of being teased in a hurtful way （OR=2.13, 95% CI： 1.41-3.24） and being made fun of due to physical appearance （OR=3.58, 95% CI： 2.27-5.67）. Obesity only increased the risk for children of being made tim of due to physical appearance （OR=2.45, 95% CI： 1.44-4.15）. Conclusions The victimization for children at school is common in Guangdong province, China. Overweight and obese children are more likely to be victims of bullying behaviors, especially verbal victimization.

Ultrashort and powerful laser interactions with a target generate intense wideband electromagnetic pulses(EMPs).In this study,we report EMPs generated by the interactions between petawatt(30 fs,1.4×10^(20) W/cm^(2))femtosecond(fs)lasers with metal flat,plastic flat,and plastic nanowire-array(NWA)*** analyses are conducted on the EMPs in terms of their spatial distribution,time and frequency domains,radiation energy,and *** results indicate that EMPs from metal targets exhibit larger amplitudes at varying angles than those generated by other types of targets and are enhanced significantly for NWA *** a plastic target holder and increasing the laser focal spot can significantly decrease the radiation energy of the ***,the composite shielding materials indicate an effective shielding effect against *** simulation results show that the NWA targets exert a collimating effect on thermal electrons,which directly affects the distribution of *** study provides guidance for regulating EMPs by controlling the laser focal spot,target parameters,and target rod material and is beneficial for electromagnetic-shielding design.
