Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glas.es.are promis.ng materials.for thermometers.bas.d on the fluores.ence intens.ty ratio(FIR)***,at high Nd^(3+)concentrations.energy trans.er(ET)proces.es.s.ch as.optical reabs.rption and cros.-relaxation can affect the Nd^(3+)emis.ion,which has.been little explored in the ***,the pres.nt work inves.igated the us. of Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glas.(s.mples.doped with Nd^(3+)at 0.2 mol%,0.5 mol%,2.0 mol%,and 4.0 mol%)in fluores.ence thermometers.in the temperature range from 299 to 371 *** res.lts.indicate a s.rong dependence of the FIR parameters.on the Nd^(3+)concentration,due to changes.in the emis.ion band profiles.caus.d by optical reabs.rption of the Nd^(3+)emis.ions.and cros.-relaxation proces.es.A decreas. of the relative s.ns.tivity of the ratio^(4)F_(5/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)/^(4)F_(3/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)is.obs.rved for s.mples.doped with higher amounts.of Nd^(3+).The maximum relative s.ns.tivity at 299 K is.3.00%/K,which is.the highes. value among the reported Nd^(3+)ions.

Chitin powder and chitin-aerogel were prepared from s.rimp was.es.and us.d to uptake Y^(3+)from aqueous.s.lutions.and concentrate this.rare earth element from phos.hogyps.m(PG).Chitin aerogel dis.lays.a s.ecific s.rface area of 945 m^(2)/g,while chitin powder is.3.6 m^(2)/g,which largely influences.its.ads.rption *** the ads.rption in s.nthetic s.lutions.the effect of pH on Y^(3+)removal is.s.rong for chitin powder *** contras.,no big pH influence was.detected for chitin *** interactions.and chelation can highlight the propos.d mechanis. of Y^(3+)on chitin ads.rbents.for the powder and ***,in addition to thes. interactions.pore filling/pore diffus.on is.the main mechanis. of Y^(3+)removal in the chitin *** aerogel is.efficient in concentrating 8 times.the Y^(3+)from PG,a very complex *** complex chitin aerogel-Y^(3+)can be a s.condary s.urce of rare earth elements.for other applications.

Coral-like s.ructures.of the Y_(3-x)Pr_(x)Fe_(5-y)Yb_(y)O_(12),(0.00 ≤ x ≤ 0.04, 0.00 ≤ y ≤ 0.02) compound were s.nthes.zed us.ng the s.l-gel method. s.ructural inves.igation certified the YIG cubic crys.al s.ructure formation, without any s.condary phas.. It is.s.own that, the relatively large ionic radius.of the dopant cations.res.lts.in an expans.on of the lattice parameter, variations.in the Iona-O-Iondangle, Iona-O,Iond-O and Ionc-O bond dis.ances.and decreas. in the average crys.allite s.ze. Fourier trans.orm infrared(FTIR) and Raman meas.rements.are es.ential to tes.ify the s.ngle-phas. formation of YIG crys.al s.ructure and are obs.rved changes.in the s.retching and vibrational modes. res.ectively. The morphological s.udy, energy dis.ers.ve s.ectros.opy(EDs. s.ectra and textural properties.s.ow corallike s.ructures. peaks.as.ociated with Pr^(3+) and Yb^(3+) atoms.and the effect of dopants.on s.rface area,diameter, and pore volume, res.ectively. The optical analys.s.from diffus. reflectance s.ectra witnes.ed an increas. in the optical gap band, a decreas. in Urbach energy and blue s.ift in the charge trans.er,correlated with the expans.on of the unit cell due to the dopant's.ins.rtion in the YIG s.ructure. A typical ferrimagnetic behavior is.exhibited by the Y_(3-x)Pr_(x)Fe_(5-y)Yb_(y)O_(12)compound. The s.turation magnetization(M_(s.), cubic anis.tropy cons.ant(K_(1)) and coercive field(H_(c)) increas. with the Pr^(3+)cations.content, as.cons.quence of their magnetic nature and dis.ribution around of Fe^(3+)ions.due to the coexis.ence with the Yb^(3+). Finally, for the firs. time, antibacterial tes.s.by mean of the direct contact method were performed for YIG co-doped with Pr^(3+)and Yb^(3+)and it is.s.own that, relatively high dos.ges.of Pr^(3+) cations.favored the activity agains. s. aureus. therefore, a new biological property for YIG doped with rare earths.is.pres.nted.

The s.atial pattern dis.ribution of plant hormones.in res.ons. to aluminum (Al) toxicity in roots.remains.to be s.own. This.s.udy was.performed to as.es. the root hormonal accumulation and gene expres.ion in res.ons. to Al toxicity in five trans.enic miniature dwarf tomatoes.cv. Micro-Tom (MT). MT and MT trans.enics.to acid indole acetic, cytokinin, gibberellin, abs.is.c acid and ethylene were cultivated in nutrient s.lutions.containing different Al concentrations. Root growth elongation was.meas.red and cellular damage was.vis.alized by s.aining Evans.s.blue. The GUs.reporter gene s.aining technique was.us.d to vis.alize hormonal changes.in MT apex root tis.ues. Data indicated that the MT is.s.ns.tive to Al that induced s.gnificant growth inhibition and cellular damage. Al concentration of 27 μM was.s.gnificantly toxic, inducing root apex darkening and inhibition of root development. The qualitative evaluation of GUs.reporter gene expres.ion s.owed intens. cros.talk among all hormones.s.udied, unders.oring the complexity of s.gnaling induced by Al in apex roots. Res.lts.point out to a major unders.anding of the hormonal s.gnaling in res.ons. to Al toxicity, which may induce a change of root growth and architecture with growth inhibition and cell cons.raints.modulated by all different hormones.evaluated.

Brazil,bas.d on the vegetative and reproductive *** has.the typical morphological characteris.ics.of ephedroid plants.including fertile reproductive branches.oppos.te phyllotaxy,terminal female cones.a s.mpodial branching s.s.em,longitudinally s.riated internodes.and s.ollen *** new finding is.unus.al in having inner chlamydos.erms.s.btended by two pairs.of bracts.reproductive units.connected to branches.through s.ollen receptacles.and a s.ooth s.ed *** new ephedroid taxon from the Crato Formation increas.s.our unders.anding of plant divers.ty of this.group during the Early ***,the general morphology(fles.y bracts.and enlarged receptacles.of this.new fos.il dis.overy indicates.that s.eds.of this.plant may have been dis.ers.d by animals.s.ch as.pteros.urs.mainly the Tapejaridae)and birds.Enantiornithes.and Ornituromorpha).If true,this.would explain the cos.opolitan dis.ribution of Ephedraceae in the Lower Cretaceous.

Bats.are the s.cond-mos. divers. group of mammals.in the world,and bat flies.are their main ***,s.gnificant knowledge gaps.remain regarding thes. antagonis.ic interactions.es.ecially s.nce divers. factors.s.ch as.s.as.nality and hos. s.x can affect their network ***,we explore the influence of s.ch factors.by comparing s.ecies.richnes. and compos.tion of bat flies.on hos. bats.as.well as.s.ecialization and modularity of bat–bat fly interaction networks.between s.as.ns.and adult hos. *** captured bats.and collected their ectoparas.tic flies.at 10 s.mpling s.tes.in the s.vannahs.of Amapás.ate,northeas.ern region of the Brazilian *** female bats.being more paras.tized and recording greater bat fly s.ecies.richnes. in the wet s.as.n,neither relations.ip was.s.atis.ically *** pooled network could be divided into 15 compartments.with 54 links.and all s.bnetworks.compris.d>12 *** total number of links.ranged from 27 to 48(for the dry and wet s.as.ns.res.ectively),and female and male s.bnetworks.had 44 and 41 links.*** values.were very low for the pooled network and for all *** res.lts.revealed higher bat fly s.ecies.richnes. and abundance in the wet s.as.n,whereas.s.ecialization and modularity were higher in the dry ***,the s.bnetwork for female bats.dis.layed higher s.ecialization and modularity than the male ***,both s.as.nality and hos. s.x contribute in different ways.to bat–bat fly network *** s.udies.s.ould cons.der thes. factors.when evaluating bat–bat fly interaction networks.
