Obesity has a complex multifactorial etiology and is characterized by excessive accumulation of adipose *** adipose tissue has deleterious effects on health because it secretes large amounts of inflammatory *** calorie restriction associated with strength training may be useful in managing chronic systemic *** study aimed to evaluate the acute effect of a single strength-training session on plasma adipokine levels in sedentary,overweight,and obese young *** study included twelve men(Age:[34.95±9.77]years;Height:[174.16±3.66]centimeter[cm];Weight:[97.83±12.87]kilogram(kg);body mass index[BMI]:[32.30±4.51]kg/m2),who performed a single strength training *** strength training protocol consisted of 4 sets of 12 repetitions in the following six exercises,45°leg press,bench press,leg extension,machine row,leg curl,and shoulder *** samples were collected before,immediately after,and 1-h subsequent after strength *** plasma levels of resistin and leptin were measured.A significant decrease in resistin levels were found 1 h after the strength training session if compared to levels before the training session(pre-[before][2390±1199]picograms per milliliter[pg/mL]vs post-1 h[1-h subsequent][1523±798],6 pg/mL,p=0.0028).The plasma leptin levels did not differ at any time *** conclusion,a very well controlled single session of strength training significantly decreased the plasma levels of resistin without altering the concentration of leptin in overweight and obese *** effect,at least in part,supports the benefits of exercise by reducing the low grade inflammation and insulin resistance in obesity.

Despite its enormous benefits,mining is respon-sible for intense changes to vegetation and soil ***,after extraction,it is necessary to rehabilitate the mined areas,creating better conditions for the establishment of plant species which is *** study evaluated mineral and organic fertilization on the growth,and carbon and nitrogen(n)metabolism of two Crotalaria species[Cro-talaria spectabilis(exotic species)and Crotalaria maypu-rensis(native species from Carajás Mineral Province(CMP)]established on a waste pile from an iron mine in CMP.A control(without fertilizer application)and six fertilization mixtures were tested(i=nPK;ii=nPK+micronutrients;iii=nPK+micronutrients+organic compost;iv=PK;v=PK+micronutrients;vi=PK+micronutrients+organic compost).Fertilization contributed to increased growth of both species,and treatments with nPK and micronutrients had the best results(up to 257%***),while organic fertilization did not show *** Crotalaria had a greater number of nodules,higher nodule dry mass,chlorophyll a and b contents and showed free ammonium as the predominant n form,reflecting greater increments in biomass compared to native *** having lower growth,the use of this native species in the rehabilitation of mining areas should be considered,mainly because it has good development and meets current government legislation as an opportunity to restore local biodiversity.

The development,production and utilization of renewable energy,energy storage and green hydrogen and the associated technologies in sri Lanka have great potential to contribute to the United nations’sustainable Development Goals(sDGs).The island aims to achieve 70%electricity generation from renewable energy sources by 2030(within the target of 40%utilization of renewable energy sources for the entire energy generation of the country by 2030).The power sector has to invest Us$11 billion from 2023 to 2030 to contribute to reaching this *** commentary aims to provide a critical perspective on the recommendations of the report from the national science and Technology Commission’s 9th biennial conference in 2023 on science and technology,the sub-thematic technical report on clean energy,energy storage and green hydrogen in line with the sDGs in the sri Lankan *** technical report provides insightful recommendations for sri Lanka’s energy sector under three main sections:renewable energy,energy storage and green ***,it explores the potential of various renewable energy sources,energy storage systems and green hydrogen as sustainable solutions to address the country’s energy challenges while emphasizing the spillover effects of them,which could contribute to the enterprise’s job creation and uplift the economy.

Preconsolidation pressure(σp)of soil can be considered as an indicator of the Load Bearing Capacity(LBC),which is the tolerated surface pressure before compaction,often caused by the traffic of agricultural *** this pioneering study,a remote sensing approach was introduced to estimate LBC throughσp from soils of the“Rio Preto”Hydrographic Basin,Bahia state,Brazil,in a monthly time lapse from 2016 to ***,σp is measured by a laborious and time demanding laboratory analysis,making it unfeasible to map large *** innovative methodology of this work consists of combining active–passive satellite data on soil moisture and pedotransfer functions of clay content and water matric potential to obtain geo-located estimates ofσ*** were analysed under different classes of soil use,land cover and slope;95%confidence intervals were built for the time series of mean values of LBC for each *** overall seasonal variation in LBC estimates is similar in areas with annual crops,grasslands and natural vegetation,and flat areas are less affected by soil moisture variations over the year(between seasons).LBC decreased,in general,at about 0.5%a year in flat ***,these areas demand attention,since they occupy 86%of the Basin and are mostly subjected to agricultural soil management and surface pressure by heavy machinery.

Indonesia is one of the largest coconut-producing countries in the *** utilization of coconut shell waste into briquettes will increase the selling value and become a great export ***,the effect of adhesives on the quality of coconut shell charcoal briquettes made using screw extruder machine has not been widely *** study aims to determine the effect of adhesive type on the quality of coconut shell charcoal *** process of fabricating briquettes in this study included crushing,mixing,blending,pressing,and *** the mixing process,3 types of adhesives were used,namely tapioca flour(Briquette_1),cassava flour(Briquette_2),and modified cassava flour(Briquette_3)with a concentration of 5%of the weight of coconut shell charcoal *** quality of the resulting briquettes and commercial briquettes will be evaluated by moisture content,ash content,volatile matter,fixed carbon,calorific value,density,compressive,and drop test *** results of this research showed that the type of adhesive had a significant effect on the quality of the briquettes *** Briquette_1 had better quality than commercial briquettes(Briquette_4)and other briquette *** test results showed that Briquette_1 produced briquettes with better compressive strength and friability than the other specimens,at 6.95 n/mm^(2) and 4.44%,*** moisture content,ash content,fixed carbon,and calorific value of Briquette_1 have met the requirements set by the Indonesian national standard(snI)number ***,the volatile matter content and density of Briquette_1 are by the standards of japan and the United states America(UsA).

Pancreatic cancer(PC)is characterized by its extremely aggressive nature and ranks 14th in the number of new cancer cases ***,due to its complexity,it ranks 7th in the list of the most lethal cancers *** pathogenesis of PC involves several complex processes,including familial genetic factors associated with risk factors such as obesity,diabetes mellitus,chronic pancreatitis,and *** in genes such as KRAs,TP53,and sMAD4 are linked to the appearance of malignant cells that generate pancreatic lesions and,consequently,*** this context,some therapies are used for PC,one of which is immunotherapy,which is extremely promising in various other types of cancer but has shown little response in the treatment of PC due to various resistance mechanisms that contribute to a drop in immunotherapy *** is therefore clear that the tumor microenvironment(TME)has a huge impact on the resistance process,since cellular and non-cellular elements create an immunosuppressive environment,characterized by a dense desmoplastic stroma with cancerassociated fibroblasts,pancreatic stellate cells,extracellular matrix,and immunosuppressive *** to this are genetic mutations in TP53 and immunosuppressive factors that act on T cells,resulting in a shortage of CD8+T cells and limited expression of activation markers such as *** this way,finding new strategies that make it possible to manipulate resistance mechanisms is ***,techniques such as the use of TME modulators that block receptors and stromal molecules that generate resistance,the use of genetic manipulation in specific regions,such as microRnAs,the modulation of extrinsic and intrinsic factors associated with T cells,and,above all,therapeutic models that combine these modulation techniques constitute the promising future of PC ***,this study aims to elucidate the main mechanisms of resistance to immunotherapy in PC and new ways of manipulating thi

An artificial intelligence framework for explainable drift detection in energy forecasting

Accurate energy consumption forecasting is crucial for reducing operational costs, achieving net-zero carbon emissions, and ensuring sustainable buildings and cities of the future. Despite the frequent use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms for learning energy consumption patterns and predictions in Building science, relying solely on these techniques for energy demand prediction addresses only a fraction of the challenge. A drift in energy usage can lead to inaccuracies in these AI models and subsequently to poor decision-making and interventions. While drift detection techniques have been reported, a reliable and robust approach capable of explaining identified discrepancies with actionable insights has not been discussed in extant literature. Hence, this paper presents an Artificial Intelligence framework for energy consumption forecasting with explainable drift detection, aimed at addressing these challenges. The proposed framework is composed of energy embeddings, an optimized dimensional model integrated within a data warehouse, and scalable cloud implementation for effective drift detection with explainability capability. The framework is empirically evaluated in the real-world setting of a multi-campus, mixed-use tertiary education setting in Victoria, Australia. The results of these experiments highlight its capabilities in detecting concept drift, adapting forecast predictions, and providing an interpretation of the changes using energy embeddings.
