Application of ceramic membrane(CM)with outstanding characteristics,such as high flux and chemical-resistance,is inevitably restricted by membrane fouling.Coagulation was an economical and effective technology for membrane fouling control.This study investigated the filtration performance of ceramic membrane enhanced by the emerging titanium-based coagulant(polytitanium chloride,PTC).Particular attention was paid to the simulation of ceramic membrane fouling using four widely used mathematical models.Results show that filtration of the PTC-coagulated effluent using flat-sheet ceramic membrane achieved the removal of organic matter up to 78.0%.Permeate flux of ceramic membrane filtration reached 600 L/(m2$h),which was 10-fold higher than that observed with conventional polyaluminum chloride(PAC)case.For PTC,fouling of the ceramic membrane was attributed to the formation of cake layer,whereas for PAC,standard filtration/intermediate filtration(blocking of membrane pores)was also a key fouling mechanism.To sum up,cross-flow filtration with flat-sheet ceramic membranes could be significantly enhanced by titanium-based coagulation to produce both high-quality filtrate and high-permeation flux.

The membrane fouling caused by extracellular organic matter (EOM) and algal cells and organic matter removal of two typical cyanobacteria (M.aeruginosa and Pseudoanabaena sp.)during ultrafiltration (UF) process were studied in this work.The results showed that EOM had a broad molecular weight (Mw) distribution and the irreversible membrane fouling was basically caused by EOM.Moreover,humic acid and microbial metabolites were major components of EOM of two typical cyanobacteria.Since EOM could fill the voids of cake layers formed by the algal cells,EOM and algal cells played synergistic roles in membrane fouling.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis indicated that the CH2and CH3chemical bonds may play an important role in membrane fouling caused by EOM.Interestingly,the cake layer formed by the algal cells could trap the organic matter produced by algae and alleviate some irreversible membrane fouling.The results also showed that although the cake layer formed by the algal cells cause severe permeate flux decline,it could play a double interception role with UF membrane and increase organic matter removal efficiency.Therefore,when using UF to treat algae-laden water,the balance of membrane fouling and organic matter removal should be considered to meet the needs of practical applications.

Titanium-based coagulation has proved to be effective for algae-laden micro-polluted water purification processes.However,the influence of algae inclusion in surface water treatment by titanium coagulation is barely reported.This study reports the influence of both Microcystis aeruginosa and Microcystis wesenbergii in surface water during polytitanium coagulation.Jar tests were performed to evaluate coagulation performance using both algae-free(controlled)and algae-laden water samples,and floc properties were studied using a laser diffraction particle size analyzer for online monitoring.Results show that polytitanium coagulation can be highly effective in algae separation,removing up to 98%from surface water.Additionally,the presence of algae enhanced organic matter removal by up to 30%compared to controlled water containing only organic matter.Polytitanium coagulation achieved significant removal of fluorescent organic materials and organic matter with a wide range of molecular weight distribution(693–4945 Da)even in the presence of algae species in surface water.The presence of algae cells and/or algal organic matter is likely to function as an additional coagulant or flocculation aid,assisting polytitanium coagulation through adsorption and bridging effects.Although the dominant coagulation mechanisms with polytitanium coagulant were influenced by the coagulant dosage and initial solution pH,algae species in surface water could enhance the charge neutralization capability of the polytitanium coagulant.Algae-rich flocs were also more prone to breakage with strength factors approximately 10%lower than those of algae-free flocs.Loose structure of the flocs will require careful handling of the flocs during coagulation-sedimentation-filtration processes.

平原水库藻类生长特征及影响因素分析

为了研究平原水库的水质变化及其对藻类生长繁殖、种群结构变化的影响,以山东某平原水库为例,通过对水库不同采样点的水质指标、叶绿素a含量、藻类种群变化及水库营养状态的分析,综合评价水库水质状况,总结影响水库藻类生长的关键因素。结果表明,水库河流汇入区域及水流缓慢区易出现营养盐等污染物滞留、沉降和富集现象,存在总氮超标风险;各采样点均呈现富营养甚至重度富营养状态;河流入口及部分狭小库区水体的综合营养状态指数较大,叶绿素a含量也较高;水体中的浮游藻类主要为绿藻和硅藻,其生长繁殖受总磷影响显著,总磷是防止藻华发生的关键控制因素。

异位促肾上腺皮质激素(adrenocorticotrophic hormone,ACTH)综合征是由垂体以外的肿瘤细胞分泌大量ACTH,刺激双侧肾上腺增生并过度分泌皮质醇所致的库欣综合征。重症异位ACTH综合征临床少见,病因诊断困难,预后差,高皮质醇血症导致的病死率远高于肿瘤本身,如不积极治疗干预,病死率可达100%[1]。本次研究回顾性分析1例异位ACTH综合征患者的临床资料及诊治经过,旨在提高对重症异位ACTH综合征的护理水平,现报道如下。

Nocardiosis manifests as an opportunistic infection,primarily affecting individuals who are immunocompromised and susceptible to the infection.We present a case study of one patient with nephrotic syndrome and membranous nephropathy,who underwent treatment with prednisone and cyclosporine in 2016.In early 2017,the patient was diagnosed with a"fungal infection"and discontinued the use of cyclosporine.After one month of anti-infection therapy,a cranial magnetic resonance imaging scan showed multiple abscesses in the right temporal region.The diagnosis of nocardiosis was confirmed based on the presence of metastatic abscess masses,multiple lung and brain lesions,and a positive culture of Nocardia in the drainage.We changed the anti-infection therapy to a combination of trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole(TMP-SMX),minocycline,and voriconazole.However,the patient experienced a sudden cardiac arrest and subsequently recovered after cardiopulmonary resuscitation.During the five-month follow-up period following the discharge,the patient displayed an enhanced nutritional status and stable renal function.The focal infection ultimately resolved during the subsequent three years.Neuro-infection caused by Nocardia should be considered in immunocompromised patients,and TMP-SMX is the preferred initial therapy;however,because of the high mortality rate,a long-term combination therapy with imipenem,cefotaxime,amikacin,and TMP-SMX is suggested.

The fate of riverine sulfate ion (SO_(4)^(2-)) and its environmental effects in arid environment are difficult to evaluate due to its complicated sources and strongly coupled behaviors with water cycle which is significantly modified by humans.To understand the sulfur cycle in aquatic systems in arid environment,the chemical and sulfur and oxygen isotopic compositions (δ^(34)S_(SO4)and δ^(18)O_(SO4)) of major rivers around the Badain Jaran Desert,northwestern China,were investigated.These rivers had averaged SO_(4)^(2-)content at 1336μmol/L,over 10times higher than the global average.The δ^(34)S_(SO4)and δ^(18)O_(SO4)values ranged from-5.3‰to+11.8‰and+1.6‰to+12.8‰,respectively.The end-member analysis and the inverse model showed that riverine sulfate was mainly derived from evaporites dissolution (0-87%),sulfide oxidation (13%-100%) and precipitation (0-33%),indicating heterogeneity in sulfur sources and behaviors along the river drainage with the lithology variations and climate gradients.Multiple isotopic tools combining with hydro-chemistry compositions could be applied to reveal sulfur cycle in arid environment.Based on the calculation,sulfide oxidation plays the primary role in the headwater and upstream in the Qilian-Mountains area,where sulfide is widely exposed.While the proportion of evaporites dissolution contributing to riverine sulfate is much higher in downstream in a drier environment.Besides,less precipitation and higher temperature can lead to more intensive evaporation,affecting the process of sulfide oxidation and enhancing the rates of evaporites dissolution and sulfate precipitation in the basin.

The biotransformation of food waste(FW)to bioenergy has attracted considerable research attention as a means to address the energy crisis and waste disposal problems.To this end,a promising technique is two-stage anaerobic digestion(TSAD),in which the FW is transformed to biohythane,a gaseous mixture of biomethane and biohydrogen.This review summarises the main characteristics of FW and describes the basic principle of TSAD.Moreover,the factors influencing the TSAD performance are identified,and an overview of the research status;economic aspects;and strategies such as pre-treatment,co-digestion,and regulation of microbial consortia to increase the biohythane yield from TSAD is provided.Additionally,the challenges and future considerations associated with the treatment of FW by TSAD are highlighted.This paper can provide valuable reference for the improvement and widespread implementation of TSAD-based FW treatment.

The dissolved oxygen content in water is an important indicator for assessing the quality of the water environment,and maintaining a certain amount of dissolved oxygen is essential for the healthy development of the ecological environment.When a water body is anoxic,the activity of anaerobic microorganisms increases and organic matter is decomposed to produce a large number of blackening and odorizing substances,resulting in black and odorous water bodies,which is a very common and typical phenomenon in China.Presently,there is still a relatively universal occurrence of illicitly connected stormwater and sewage pipes in the urban drainage pipe network in China,which makes oxygen-consuming substances be directly discharged into rivers through stormwater pipes and consume the dissolved oxygen in the water bodies,resulting in an oxygen deficiency of the water.This induces seasonal or year-round black and stink phenomena in urban rivers.Hence,identifying high oxygen-consuming substances,which lays the foundation for the subsequent removal of oxygen-consuming substances,is essential.Through a series of comparisons of water quality indicators and analysis of organic characteristics,it was found that the oxygen consumption capacity of domestic sewage was higher than that of industrial wastewater in the selected area of this study,and the oxygen-consuming substances of domestic sewage were small molecular amino acids.By comparing 20 conventional free amino acids,it was found that seven of them consumed oxygen easily,and compared with chemical oxygen consumption,biological oxygen consumption was in a leading position.
