Microfungi have been explored further as supplement constituents in shrimp culture due to their rich protein,lipid,essentia. amino acids,fatty acids,and various bioactive *** researchers have evaluated the effects of two microfungi powders(Mucor circinelloides and Trichoderma harzianum)as feed supplements on growth performance,bacterial communities,and the biomass nutritional profile of white shrimp(Litopenaeus vannamei).The results showed that commercial/artificial feed(Feng-Li)with supplementation microfungi powder had a different effect on white shrimp growth performance than control after 62 days of the grow-out *** with 1.5%*** powder(M-2)could improve the growth performance of white shrimp,especially the survival rate(81.33%),final body weight(5.21 g),and shrimp biomass(211.35 g).In contrast,supplementation with 1.5%*** powder(T-2)did not improve the growth performance of white shrimp compared to control(p>0.05).Furthermore,it also affected the profile of the bacterial community in culture water as well as in shrimp *** with both microfungi could reduce the total number of bacteria in culture water at the end of the experiment,where the lowest number was obtained in treatment T-2(3.9×10^(5)CFU/mL),followed by M-2(9.9×10^(5)CFU/mL)and control(4.4×10^(6)CFU/mL).In the culture water,20 isolates of culturable bacteria were found during the trial,with the dominant bacteria in M-2:Bacillus cereus,Bacillus velezensis,Gordonia polyisoprenivorans,T-2:Acinetobacter sp.,Gordonia polyisoprenivorans,Micrococcus *** on average well colour development(AWCD),the highest bacterial activity was in the M-2(0.297-0.707),followed by T-2(0.226-0.717)and control(0.094-0.694).The highest substrate group utilised in M-2 and T-2 were polymers(0.896 and 1.348)and control:amines(0.100).The highest Shannon diversity index was obtained in the M-2(2.508),followed by control(2.286)and the T-2(2.157).As many as

Proposals of SPT-CPT and DPL-CPT correlations for sandy soils in Brazil

Field tests in geotechnical engineering are fundamental for identification of the underground *** standard penetration test(SPT) is the most commonly used geotechnical approach. There has been an increase both in the use and application of the in situ tests: cone penetration test(CPT) and dynamic probing(DP). Several empirical SPT-CPT and dynamic probing light(DPL)-CPT correlations for sandy soils have been discussed in the literature. New SPT-CPT and DPL-CPT correlations for the sandy soils of the city of Vitoria, in the southeast of Brazil, are suggested in this paper. Statistical analyses to evaluate the quality of the data used are performed, and the suggested correlations are validated with several previous published datasets. The paper also provides some insights into SPT-CPT correlations and soil characteristics(i.e. the mean particle size and the fines fraction of the soil).

Settlement predictions of footings on sands using probabilisticanalysis

The design of footings on sands is often controlled by settlement rather than bearing ***,settlement predictions are essentia. in the design of shallow ***,predicted settlements of footings are highly dependent on the chosen elastic modulus and the used *** paper presents the use of probabilistic analysis to evaluate the variability of predicted settlements of footings on sands,focusing on the load curve(predicted settlements)*** methodologies,the first-and second-order second-moment(FOSM and SOSM),and Monte Carlo simulation(MCS),for calculating the mean and variance of the estimated settlements through Schmertmann(1970)’s equation,are presented and *** soil beneath the footing is treated as an uncorrelated layered material,so the total settlement and variance are found by adding up the increments of the *** deformability modulus(ESi)is considered as the only independent random *** an example of application,a hypothetical case of a typical subsoil in the state of Espirito Santo,southeast of Brazil,is *** results indicate that there is a significant similarity between the SOSM and MCS methods,while the FOSM method underestimates the results due to the non-consideration of the high-order terms in Taylor’s *** contribution of the knowledge of the uncertainties in settlement prediction can provide a safer design.

Use of digital image analysis combined with fractal theory to determine particle morphology and surface texture of quartz sands

The particle morphology and surface texture play a major role in influencing mechanical and hydraulic behaviors of sandy soils. This paper presents the use of digital image analysis combined with fractal theory as a tool to quantify the particle morphology and surface texture of two types of quartz sands widely used in the region of Vitória, Espírito Santo, southeast of Brazil. The two investigated sands are sampled from different locations. The purpose of this paper is to present a simple, straightforward,reliable and reproducible methodology that can identify representative sandy soil texture *** test results of the soil samples of the two sands separated by sieving into six size fractions are presented and discussed. The main advantages of the adopted methodology are its simplicity, reliability of the results, and relatively low cost. The results show that sands from the coastal spit(BS) have a greater degree of roundness and a smoother surface texture than river sands(RS). The values obtained in the test are statistically analyzed, and again it is confirmed that the BS sand has a slightly greater degree of sphericity than that of the RS sand. Moreover, the RS sand with rough surface texture has larger specific surface area values than the similar BS sand, which agree with the obtained roughness fractal dimensions. The consistent experimental results demonstrate that image analysis combined with fractal theory is an accurate and efficient method to quantify the differences in particle morphology and surface texture of quartz sands.

＜正＞ In the evaluation of an asphalt binder for use in a hot-mix asphalt, it is important that the properties of the asphalt binder after aging in the hot-mixing process be determined. At present, two standard methods are used to simulate the effects of hot-mixing on asphalt hinders in the U.S. These two standard methods are （1） the Thin Film Oven Test （TFOT） [ASTM D1754], and （2） the Rolling Thin Film Oven Test （RTFOT） [ASTM D2872]. These standard procedures have been successfully used on conventional asphalts for many years. However, recent studies by the University of Florida and other researchers in the country have shown that problems were encountered when these procedures were used on some modified asphalts. It was found that asphalts modified with crumb rubber （CR） and SBR tended to spill out from the RTFOT bottles during the RTFOT process. When the TFOT was used, a thin skin tended to form on the surface of some modified asphalt samples, which reduced the homogeneity of the aging of the samples. There is a need to develop a suitable laboratory aging procedure to replace the TFOT and the RTFOT, so that the aging characteristics of modified asphalts could be properly determined.
