BACKGROUND The main pathophysiological basis of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)causing respiratory failure is a cytokine storm and interleukin-6(IL-6)is an important component of the COVID-19 cytokine *** a specific antagonist of IL-6,tocilizumab may block the cytokine storm of *** Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines of New Coronavirus Pneumonia(7 th Edition)includes tocilizumab as a recommended drug for immunotherapy in severe and critical COVID-19 ***,the specific clinical efficacy of tocilizumab in the treatment of COVID-19 patients is worth *** To determine the clinical efficacy of tocilizumab in inhibiting the cytokine storm in *** In total,19 severe and critical COVID-19 patients were enrolled in this study,and were treated with tocilizumab in Optical Valley Campus of Hubei Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital from February 20 to March 31,*** imaging manifestations and clinical data before and after treatment were analyzed retrospectively,including routine peripheral venous blood tests,routine blood biochemical tests,coagulation test,C-reactive protein(CRP),IL-6,and arterial blood gas *** Of the 19 patients in this group,13(68.4%)had significantly improved symptoms of COVID-19(5 patients were discharged directly and 8 patients were transferred after improvement)following *** case was invalid,1 case was exacerbated,and 4 deaths(21.1%)were observed(all critical cases).The lymphocyte count,CRP,lactic acid,oxygenation index,fibrinogen(FIB)and IL-6 levels were significantly different in the improved *** Tocilizumab treatment is effective against IL-6 in COVID-19 patients,but it does not completely inhibit the inflammation and cytokine storm in all patients with *** the clinical treatment of COVID-19 patients,attention should be paid to the timing of drug administration and other adjuvant treatments.

Active flutter suppression of nonlinear fin-actuator system via inverse system and immersion and invariance method

Structural nonlinearities such as freeplay will affect the stability and even flight safety of the fin-actuator *** is a lack of a practical method for designing Active Flutter Suppression (AFS) control laws for nonlinear fin-actuator systems.A design method for the AFS controller of the nonlinear all-movable fin-electromechanical actuator system is established by combining the inverse system and the Immersion and Invariance (I&I) ***,the composite control law combining the inverse system principle and internal model control is used to offset the nonlinearity and dynamics of the actuator,so that its driving torque can follow the ideal ***,the ideal torque of the actuator is designed employing the I&I *** unfavorable oscillation of the fin is suppressed by making the output torque of the actuator track the ideal *** simulation results reveal that the proposed AFS method can increase the flutter speed of the nonlinear finactuator system with freeplay,and a set of controller parameters is also applicable for wider freeplay within a certain *** power required for the actuator does not exceed the power that can be provided by the commonly used aviation *** method can also resist a certain level of noise and external disturbance.

Aerodynamic periodicity of transient aerodynamic forces of flexible plunging airfoils

For flapping micro-air vehicles,periodical aerodynamics in every plunging period is always desired in the design of aircraft controlling *** the periodic plunges of rigid airfoil,either periodical or non-periodical aerodynamic forces can be *** airfoils are usually flexible so that the effect of flexibility on unsteady characteristics of aerodynamic periodicity should be *** this study,a fluid structure interaction analysis is employed to systematically investigate the aerodynamic periodicity of a periodically plunging flexible *** influences of several dimensionless kinematic and structural parameters on aerodynamic periodicity are *** results show that the aerodynamic periodicity of plunging flexible airfoil qualitatively resembles that of rigid airfoil as the mechanisms contributing to aerodynamic periodicity are kept for airfoil with various ***,aerodynamic periodicity at small plunging amplitude and high Reynolds number can be improved as airfoil becomes medium flexible but worsened as airfoil is very *** reason is that the deformation of the airfoil changes the strength and structure of the nearby vortices,thereby leading to weak vortex–vortex and vortex–airfoil *** extent of improvement in aerodynamic periodicity is also found significantly influenced by incoming velocity.

Relative effects of phylogeny,biological characters and environments on leaf traits in shrub biomes across central Inner Mongolia,China

Aims Understanding the drivers for leaf traits is critical to improving our predictions on ecosystems'responses to global *** patterns of leaf traits are shaped by phylogenetic,biological and environmental factors ***,till now few studies have examined how these factors influenced leaf traits together,and how their effects differed at the within-and among-site *** We sampled leaf traits from a 1100 km shrub-biome transect across central Inner-Mongolia,including leaf mass per area(LMA),mass-based photosynthetic rate,nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)*** examined the effects of phylogenetic,biological(height and growth rate)and environmental(climate and soil)fac-tors on leaf traits with mixed-model analyses of *** partitioning method was used to separate the joint and independent effects of these three types of *** Findings(i)Climate and soil fertility(total or available nutrient concentra-tions)together explained 11.4-41.4%of among-site variations,with remarkable difference among traits.(i)Height and height growth rate together explained 0.4--31.9%of trait variations(mostly among-site variations).Our results could only weakly support the ability of leaf traits as predictors for whole-plant growth.(ii)LMA was negatively related to height,which was consistent with the resource-use strategy hypothesis but incon-sistent with the hypotheses proposed for coexisting trees,suggest-ing that the LMA--height relationship is shaped by rather different mechanisms between the within-and among-communities lev-els.(iv)The variation partitioning analysis showed that,the rela-tionships between leaf traits and biological characters largely reflected the differences in both leaf traits and biological char-acters among species that occupying different *** relative importance of phylogenetic,biological and environmental fac-tors differed remarkably among leaf traits,between the within-and among-communi

Cytoskeletal microtubule rearrangement and movement are crucial in the repair of spinal cord *** plays an important role in the regulation of microtubule *** spastin and collapsin response mediator proteins can regulate neurite growth and branching;however,whether spastin interacts with collapsin response mediator protein 3(CRMP3)during this process remains unclear,as is the mechanism by which CRMP3 participates in the repair of spinal cord *** this study,we used a proteomics approach to identify key proteins associated with spinal cord injury *** then employed liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry to identify proteins that were able to interact with glutathione ***,co-immunoprecipitation and staining approaches were used to evaluate potential interactions between spastin and ***,we co-transfected primary hippocampal neurons with CRMP3 and spastin to evaluate their role in neurite *** spectrometry identified the role of CRMP3 in the spinal cord injury repair *** chromatography-mass spectrometry pulldown assays identified three CRMP3 peptides that were able to interact with ***3 and spastin were co-expressed in the spinal cord and were able to interact with one another in vitro and in ***,CRMP3 overexpression was able to enhance the ability of spastin to promote neurite growth and ***,our results confirm that spastin and CRMP3 play roles in spinal cord injury repair by regulating neurite growth and *** proteins may therefore be novel targets for spinal cord injury *** Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of Jinan University,China approved this study(approval ***-20181008-03)on October 8,2018.

Influence of Future Tropical Cyclone Track Changes on Their Basin-Wide Intensity over the Western North Pacific: Downscaled CMIP5 Projections

The possible changes of tropical cyclone（TC） tracks and their influence on the future basin-wide intensity of TCs over the western North Pacific（WNP） are examined based on the projected large-scale environments derived from a selection of CMIP5（Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5） models. Specific attention is paid to the performance of the CMIP5 climate models in simulating the large-scale environment for TC development over the WNP. A downscaling system including individual models for simulating the TC track and intensity is used to select the CMIP5 models and to simulate the TC activity in the *** assessment of the future track and intensity changes of TCs is based on the projected large-scale environment in the21 st century from a selection of nine CMIP5 climate models under the Representative Concentration Pathway 4.5（RCP4.5）scenario. Due to changes in mean steering flows, the influence of TCs over the South China Sea area is projected to decrease,with an increasing number of TCs taking a northwestward track. Changes in prevailing tracks and their contribution to basin-wide intensity change show considerable inter-model variability. The influences of changes in prevailing track make a marked contribution to TC intensity change in some models, tending to counteract the effect of SST warming. This study suggests that attention should be paid to the simulated large-scale environment when assessing the future changes in regional TC activity based on climate models. In addition, the change in prevailing tracks should be considered when assessing future TC intensity change.
