Study of Association between Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Dietary Intake

Objective To compare dietary intake and composition of women with and without polycystic ovary syndrome （PCOS）, and finally to figure out the relationship between dietary intake and *** Eighty-six women attending an outpatient gynecological endocrinology unit, underwent evaluation of anthropometry, dietary intakes by means of a food frequency questionnaire （FFQ）, 47 women with PCOS and 39 age-matched control women were investigated. Dietary intake was assessed by 24 h recalls. Associations between nutrients, BMI, WHR and glycometabolic measurements of PCOS were analyzed using multiple linear correlation and multiple linear regression *** 1） Obesity PCOS patients （BMI ≥25 kg/m2） took significantly more carbohydrates （P〈0.05） and fat （P〈0.01） of diet than the control women in 24 h before the first visit. There was significantly lower ratio of protein （P 〈0.01 ） and higher ratio of lipid （P〈0.01） in obesity PCOS patients than those in the control. Obesity PCOS women took significantly more calories （P〈O.05） and higher ratio of lipid （P〈O.O1） than non-obesity PCOS women （BMI〈25 kg/m2）. There were no significantly statistical differences between the non-obesity PCOS women and controls. 2） There were positive correlations between BMI and energy lipid intake, but negative correlations between BMI and the ratio of protein in the diet intake （P〈0.05）. In PCOS women, fasting insulin （FINS）, area under curve of insulin （IA UC）, and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance （HOMA-IR） were all positively related with BMI （all P〈0.05）. 3） Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that BMI was positively associated with the amount of fat and negatively associated with the ratio of protein in diet in 24 h （both P〈0.001）. A regularization algorithm of dynamic light scattering for estimating the particle size distribution of dual-substance mixture in water

Dynamic light scattering(DLS)is a nondestructive,well-established technique for the size characterization of proteins,nanoparticles,polymers,and colloidal ***,current DLS techniques are only applied to particle groups of single composition due to the limitation of their inversion *** this study,we propose a particle size distribution inversion algorithm based on the Tikhnonov regularization method that can be applied to the dual-substance particle *** algorithm retrieves the particle size distributions of two substances,respectively,by taking advantage of their refractive index *** simulation results reveal that the algorithm has excellent accuracy and stability when the scattering angle is 30°.Instead of the original identity matrix,the first-order difference matrix and second-order difference matrix are used as the regular matrix when utilizing the Tikhnonov algorithm,which obviously improves the anti-interference,accuracy,and stability of the ***,the inversion of particle size distribution is carried out at a 0.01%–1%noise level,which shows that the algorithm has an available antinoise ***,experimental particle size measurements for a mixture of polystyrene beads and toner particles demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is superior to the traditional Tikhnonov algorithm in applicability and accuracy.

ControlService: a containerized solution for control-algorithm-as-a-service in cloud control systems

As an extension of networked control systems, cloud control systems(CCSs) have emerged as a new control paradigm to improve the service quality of emerging control missions, such as data-driven modeling and automated vehicles. Existing studies have used the workflow-based restructured method to optimize the computation-intensive algorithms in the CCSs. However, the challenges here are how to define and submit these algorithms' workflows as cloud services and execute these algorithms' workflows in a containerized manner. Based on these challenges, we propose a containerized solution for the control-algorithm-as-a-service(C3aS) in the CCSs, namely Control Service. It offers the control algorithm as a cloud workflow service and uses a customized workflow engine to realize the containerized execution. First, we employ a cloud workflow representation method to define a control algorithm into an abstract cloud workflow form. Afterward, we provide a cloud service representation of the abstract cloud workflow. Next, we design a workflow engine and submit the cloud service to this workflow engine to implement containerized execution of this cloud service in the CCSs. In the experiment, we discuss the cloud service form and containerized implementation of the subspace identification method. Experimental results show that the proposed Control Service has significant performance advantages in computational time, reduction percentage, and speedup ratio compared with the baseline method.

Different lymph node staging systems for predicting the prognosis of colorectal neuroendocrine neoplasms

Neuroprotection of dexmedetomidine against propofol-induced neuroapoptosis partly mediated by PI3K/Akt pathway in hippocampal neurons of fetal rat

The aim was to investigate how the PI3K/Akt pathway is involved in the protection of dexmedetomidine against propofol. The hippocampal neurons from fetal rats were separated and cultured in a neurobasal medium. Cell viability was assayed by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT) assay. Then neurons were pretreated with different concentrations of dexmedetomidine before 100 μmol/L propofol was added. Akt, phospho-Akt(p-Akt), Bad, phospho-Bad(p-Bad), and Bcl-x L were detected by Western blot. Also, neurons were pretreated with dexmedetomidine alone or given the inhibitor LY294002 before dexmedetomidine pretreatment, and then propofol was added for 3h. The results demonstrated that propofol decreased the cell viability and the expression of p-Akt and p-Bad proteins, increased the level of Bad, and reduced the ratio of Bcl-x L/Bad. Dexmedetomidine pretreatment could reverse these effects. The enhancement of p-Akt and p-Bad induced by dexmedetomidine was prevented by LY294002. These results showed that dexmedetomidine potently protected the developing neuron and this protection may be partly mediated by the PI3K/Akt pathway.

Design method of extractant for liquid-liquid extraction based on elements and chemical bonds

In the petrochemical industry process, the relative volatility between the components to be separated is close to one or the azeotrope that systems are difficult to separate. Liquid-liquid extraction is a common and effective separation method, and selecting an extraction agent is the key to extraction technology research. In this paper, a design method of extractants based on elements and chemical bonds was proposed. A knowledge-based molecular design method was adopted to pre-select elements and chemical bond groups. The molecules were automatically synthesized according to specific combination rules to avoid the problem of “combination explosion” of molecules. The target properties of the extractant were set, and the extractant meeting the requirements was selected by predicting the correlation physical properties of the generated molecules. Based on the separation performance of the extractant in liquid-liquid extraction and the relative importance of each index, the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation membership function was established, the analytic hierarchy process determined the mass ratio of each index, and the consistency test results were passed. The results of case study based on quantum chemical analysis demonstrated that effective determination of extractants for the analysis of benzene-cyclohexane systems. The results unanimously prove that the method has important theoretical significance and application value.

Effects of buried penis on the structure and function of corpus cavernosum in a rat model

Background While the abnormal appearance of the concealed penis has been well recognized, the effect of buried penis on the structure and function of corpus cavernosum has not been well studied. To explore this issue, we established a rat model and evaluated the effect of buried penis on cavernosum weight, contents and ultrastructure of tissue, and nitric oxide synthase （NOS） activity. Methods Two hundred and ten rats were randomly divided into 3 equal cohorts for 2, 4 and 6 months study （groups A, B and C）. Each group was randomly divided into buried group （n=40）, control group （n=15）, and normal group （n=15）, respectively. Intra-purse-string suture of the root of the penis was used to establish the model. Macroscopic development was judged by measuring the weight of the corpus cavernosum. Masson＇s trichrome staining was performed for observing microstructure while a transmission electron microscope was used for observing ultrastructure. The NOS activity was detected by a NOS activity assay kit. Results Buried penis had no significant influence on the appearance and weight of the corpus cavernosum. Buried penis resulted in decreased smooth muscle content （P 〉0.05 in group A, and P 〈0.05 in groups B and C） and increased fibrous connective tissue content （P 〉0.05 in groups A and B, and P 〈0.05 in group C） compared with the normal and control groups. Ultrastructural abnormalities of corpus cavernosum were observed in the 6-month buried group. Moreover, there was decrease of NOS activity in groups B and C （P 〈0.05 in group B and P 〈0.01 in group C） when compared with the normal and control groups. Conclusion Buried penis affects the structure and function of corpus cavernosum in rats and the effect is positively correlated with the buried time, but there is no significant effect on the macroscopic development.
