Determining asteroid properties provides valuable physical insights but inverting them from photometric lightcurves remains computationally *** paper presents a new approach that combines a simplified Cellinoid shape model with the Parallel Differential Evolution(PDE)algorithm to accelerate *** PDE algorithm is more efficient than the Differential Evolution algorithm,achieving an extraordinary speedup of 37.983 with 64 workers on multicore *** PDE algorithm accurately derives period and pole values from simulated *** analysis of real asteroid lightcurves validates the method’s reliability:in comparison with results published elsewhere,the PDE algorithm accurately recovers the rotational periods and,given adequate viewing geometries,closely matches the pole *** PDE approach converges to solutions within 20,000 iterations and under one hour,demonstrating its potential for large-scale data *** work provides a promising new tool for unveiling asteroid physical properties by overcoming key computational bottlenecks.

Excessive use of agro-chemicals （such as mineral fertilizers） poses potential risks to soil quality. Application of organic amendments and reduction of inorganic fertilizer are economically feasible and environmentally sound approaches to de- velop sustainable agriculture. This study investigated and evaluated the effects of mineral fertilizer reduction and partial substitution of organic amendment on soil fertility and heavy metal content in a 10-season continually planted vegetable field during 2009-2012. The experiment included four treatments： 100% chemical fertilizer （CF100）, 80% chemical fertilizer （CF80）, 60% chemical fertilizer and 20% organic fertilizer （CF60＋OM20）, and 40% chemical fertilizer and 40% organic fertilizer （CF40＋OM40）. Soil nutrients, enzyme activity and heavy metal content were determined. The results showed that single chemical fertilizer reduction （CF80） had no significant effect on soil organic matter content, soil catalase activity and soil heavy metal content, but slightly reduced soil available N, P, K, and soil urease activity, and significantly reduced soil acid phosphatase activity. Compared with CF100, 40 or 60% reduction of chemical fertilizer supplemented with organic fertilizer （CF60＋OM20, CF40＋OM40） significantly increased soil organic matter, soil catalase activity and urease activity especially in last several seasons, but reduced soil available P, K, and soil acid phosphatase activity. In addition, continu- ous application of organic fertilizer resulted in higher accumulation of Zn, Cd, and Cr in soil in the late stage of experiment, which may induce adverse effects on soil health and food safety.

Grain size is an important determinant of grain weight and yield in *** several genes related to grain size have been identified,natural variations in these genes that affect grain size are poorly ***,we describe the grain length QTL GL10,encoding MADS56,which positively regulates grain length and grain weight.A natural allelic variation of NIL-gl10,containing an~1.0-kb deletion in the first exon that abolishes its transcription,results in shorter grain length,lower grain weight and delayed flowering in gl10 *** knockout of GL10 in the HJX74 background leads to grain phenotypes similar to that of NIL-gl10,while overexpression of GL10 results in increased grain length and weight and earlier heading ***10 regulates grain length by promoting greater longitudinal cell growth in the grain ***,GL10 participates in the regulation of gibberellic acid(GA)signaling pathway genes in young panicle *** of GL10 haplotypes shows obvious divergence between the japonica and indica *** findings reveal an allelic variation of GL10 that may explain differences in grain length among modern cultivars and could be used to breed rice varieties with optimized grain shape.

Optimization of Fermentation Medium for Epothilones Production with Sequential Statistical Approach

A sequential statistical approach was applied to optimizing the fermentation medium of epothilones（Epos） production by means of a mutant which was obtained by treating polyangium cellulosum ATCC 15384 with nitrite and ultraviolet. The effects of different carbon sources and nitrogen sources on the fermentation medium were tested, and the suitable ones were selected. Then a uniform design was employed to design the experiments. A linear model was developed for identifying the significant components in fermentation medium, while a third degree polynomial model was used for studying the relationship between the concentration of the components in fermentation medium and the yield of Epos（YEPs）. A pattern search method was used for searching the optimum fermentation medium in the test space, which was as follows（g/L）： potassium nitrate 8.00, soybean peptone 17.60, potassium hydrogen phos- phate 1.00, beef extraction 6.46, yeast extraction 1.00, calcium chloride 0.25, sodium chloride 1.00 and ferric chloride 0.02. The optimum fermentation medium was expected to result in a yield of Epos（YEPs） of 2.48 mg/L. The validation experiments with the optimum medium were performed in triplicate and the average yield of Epos was 2.45 mg/L which was 7.78 times higher than that of Epos prepared without optimization.

Understanding the feeding selectivity on phytoplankton by shellfi sh is currently a big challenge. In order to investigate the feeding behavior of bay scallop ( Argopecten irradians ) on phytoplankton, we compared its compositions of phytopigments in digestive glands with those in the surrounding seawater, and conducted fi ve consecutive investigations between July and November 2016 in a bay scallop culture area along coast of Qinghuangdao City, northwest of the Bohai Sea, China. Phytopigments in four-size fractionated phytoplankton of seawater (micro-(20-200 μm);nano(L)-[10-20 μm];nano(S)-[2.7-10 μm], and pico-[fucoxanthin and peridinin constituted the major part of taxonomically diagnostic carotenoids (TDCs) in the micro- and nano(L)-phytoplankton in seawater. Compared with total phytoplankton biomass of seawater (TPB, sum of the four sizes), a substantial decrease of fucoxanthin proportion to total DCs in digestive glands was observed while that of peridinin, 19′-butanoyloxyfucoxanthin, alloxanthin and 19′-hexanoyloxy-fucoxanthin showed an obvious increase when those pigments were mainly confi ned to micro-sized phytoplankton (20-200 μm). However, zeaxanthin and prasinoxanthin were mainly confi ned to nano(s)- and pico-phytoplankton, of which the proportions in digestive glands were usually lower in TPB. The contribution of lutein to total DCs in digestive glands (with an average of 7.23%) increased compared with TPB of seawater (with an average of 0.63%) during all fi ve sampling times.

We demonstrate the effects of electron-electron （e-e） interactions in monolayer graphene quantum capacitors. Ultrathin yttrium oxide showed excellent per-formance as the dielectric layer in top-gate device geometry. The structure and dielectric constant of the yttrium oxide layers have been carefully studied. The inverse compressibility retrieved from the quantum capacitance agreed fairly well with the theoretical predictions for the e--e interactions in monolayer graphene at different temperatures. We found that electron-hole puddles played a significant role in the low-density carrier region in graphene. By considering the temperature-dependent charge fluctuation, we established a model to explain the round-off effect originating from the e-e interactions in monolayer graphene near the Dirac point.

BACKGROUND Whether hyperbaric oxygen therapy(HBOT)can cause paradoxical herniation is still *** SUMMARY A 65-year-old patient who was comatose due to brain trauma underwent decompressive craniotomy and gradually regained consciousness after *** was administered 22 d after surgery due to speech *** herniation appeared on the second day after treatment,and the patient’s condition worsened after receiving mannitol treatment at the rehabilitation *** timely skull repair,the paradoxical herniation was resolved,and the patient regained consciousness and had a good recovery as observed at the follow-up *** Paradoxical herniation is rare and may be caused by ***,the underlying mechanism is unknown,and the understanding of this phenomenon is *** use of mannitol may worsen this *** skull repair can treat paradoxical herniation and prevent serious complications.
