BACKGROUND Bone is a major site of metastasis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).Recently,nuclear factor kappa-beta ligand(RANKL)inhibitors have garnered attention for their ability to inhibit osteoclast formation and bone resorption,as well as their potential to modulate immune functions and thereby enhance the efficacy of programmed cell death protein 1(PD-1)inhibitor *** SUMMARY We present a case of a patient with NPC who developed sternal stalk metastasis and multiple bone metastases with soft tissue invasion following radical chemoradiotherapy and targeted *** to chemotherapy,the patient experienced severe bone marrow suppression and opted out of further chemotherapy ***,the patient received combination therapy,including RANKL inhibitors(denosumab)alongside PD-1,radiotherapy,and granulocyte-macrophage colonystimulating factor(PRaG)therapy(NCT05435768),and achieved 16 months of progression-free survival and more than 35 months of overall survival,without encountering any grade 2 or higher treatment-related adverse *** Denosumab combined with PRaG therapy could be a new therapeutic approach for the second-line treatment in patients with bone metastases.

The presence of wrinkles in a membrane is the main factor that induces surface errors on space planar film reflect-arrays. Based on the commercial finite element (FE) package ABAQUS, a numerical procedure for membrane wrinkle analysis was set up, and used to analyze a square planar film reflect-array under pure shear force to evaluate its induced wrinkle characteristics. First, the effect of shear force on the wrinkle pattern of the array was studied and validated by experiment. Second, the effect of prestress was studied. When the prestress increases, the quantity of the wrinkles increases, and the amplitude of the wrinkles decreases. Third, the influence of the boundary conditions was investigated. A frame side edge structure has a relatively smooth surface, but also relatively high stress. Finally, the behavior of a joint seam was analyzed. The results indicate that a joint band has a significant influence on the wrinkle pattern of the membrane.

Based on the Monte Carlo method,we examined the dynamic magnetic behaviors and magnetocaloric effect of a Kagome lattice subjected to the influence of time-dependent oscillating and time-independent magnetic *** used the Ising model to describe the Kagome lattice and study the dynamic order parameters,blocking temperature,internal energy,and phase *** results revealed that exchange coupling increases the stability of the system and the bias field induces order;however,the time-dependent oscillating magnetic field induces *** addition,the magnetocaloric properties,changes in magnetic entropy,and relative cooling power of the Kagome lattice were investigated.

Chiral polymer was synthesized by the polymerization of （R）-6,6＇-bistributylstannyl-2,2＇-binaphtho-20-crown-6 （M-1） with 1,4-dibromo-2,3-bisbutoxy-naphthyl （M-2） by Pd（PPhs）4 catalyzed Stille coupling reaction. Both monomer and polymer were analyzed by NMR, MS, FT-IR, UV, polarimetry, DSC-TGA, CD, fluorescent spectroscopy and GPC. The major difference between monomer and polymer is that a long wavelength Cotton Effect was observed for the polymer due to its more extended conjugation in the repeating unit and a highly rigid backbone in the polymer chain. Polymer has strong blue fluorescence due to the efficient energy migration from the extended n-electronic structure of the repeating unit of the polymer to the chiral binaphthyl core and is expected to have potential application in the materials of fluorescent sensors and chiral chromatographic packing for resolution ofracemic amino acid.

In cell mitosis,cytokinesis is a major deformation process,during which the site of thecontractile ring is determined by the biochemical stimulus from asters of the mitotic apparatus,actin andmyosin assembly is related to the motion of membrane phospholipids,and local distribution and arrangementof the microfilament cytoskeleton are different at different cytokinesis *** on the Zinemanas-Nirmodel,a new model is proposed in this study to simulate the entire process by coupling the biochemicalstimulus with the mechanical *** were three assumptions in this model:the movements ofphospholipid proteins are driven by gradients of biochemical stimulus on the membrane surface;the localassembly of actin and myosin filament depends on the amount of phospholipid proteins at the same location;and the surface tension includes membrane tensions due to both the passive deformation of the membraneand the active contraction of actin filament,which is determined by microfilament redistribution *** model could explain the dynamic movement of microfilaments during cytokinesis andpredict cell *** calculated results from this model demonstrated that the reorientation ofphospholipid proteins and the redistribution and reorientation of microfilaments may play a crucial role in *** model may better represent the cytokinesis process by the introduction of biochemical stimulus.

In recent years, biopharmaceuticals have witnessed remarkable advancements, transforming the landscape of therapeutic interventions. Biopharmaceuticals encompassing therapeutics generated through cutting-edge biotechnological methods have shown promising therapeutic outcomes. However, their clinical success hinges significantly on overcoming drug delivery challenges related to stability, intracellular delivery, immunogenicity, and pharmacokinetic properties. Herein, we provide an overview of various marketed macromolecules, including nucleic acids, and immunotherapeutic agents such as cytokines and monoclonal antibodies, as well as other therapeutic peptides/proteins like enzymes, hormones, and coagulation factors. Our primary focus is on elucidating the delivery challenges associated with these macromolecules and highlighting the pivotal role played by drug delivery platforms in the development of currently marketed products, offering valuable insights for both scientific research and the pharmaceutical industry.

Unraveling the precise mineralization age is vital to understand the geodynamic setting and ore-forming mechanism of the sediment-hosted Pb-Zn deposit;this has long been a *** Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou(SYG)triangle in the southwestern margin of the Yangtze Block is a globally recognized carbonate-hosted Pb-Zn metallogenic province and also an essential part of the South China low-temperature metallogenic *** region has>30 million tons(Mt)Zn and Pb resources and shows the enrichment of dispersed metals,such as Ga,Ge,Cd,Se,and *** the past 2 decades,abundant data on mineralization ages of Pb-Zn deposits within the SYG triangle have been documented based on various radioisotopic dating methods,resulting in significant progress in understanding the geodynamic background and ore formation of Pb-Zn deposits hosted in sedimentary rocks at SYG *** paper provides a comprehensive summary of the geochronological results and Pb-Sr isotopic data regarding Pb-Zn deposits in the SYG triangle,which identified two distinct Pb-Zn mineralization periods influencing the dynamic processes associated with the expansion and closure of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean in the western margin of the Yangtze *** predominant phase of Pb-Zn mineralization at SYG triangle spanned from the Middle Triassic to Early Jurassic(226-191 Ma),which was intensely correlated with the large-scale basin fluid transport triggered by the closure of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean and Indosinian *** secondary Pb-Zn mineralization phase occurred during the Late Devonian to Late Carboniferous and was controlled by extensional structures associated with the expansion of the Paleo-Tethys *** investigation is necessary to clarify the occurrence and potential factors involved in the Pb-Zn mineralization events during the Late Devonian to Late Carboniferous.

The Ni-ZnFe_(2)O_(4)(NixZn_(1-x)Fe_(2)O_(4),x=0.4-0.7)spinel was synthesized using Zn2+extracted from electric arc furnace dust(EAFD),nickel chloride hexahydrate,and Fe^(3+)extracted from iron scale as raw *** zinc was selectively extracted from EAFD using CaO roasting followed by NH_(4)Cl solution *** ferric ion was leached from iron scale using HCl solution as acid *** experimental results demonstrate a high level of efficiency in the extraction of zinc,with a rate of 97.5%,and the leaching rate of ferric ion is 96.89%.The composition of the leaching solution is primary zinc and iron with low calcium,which is beneficial to the preparation of spinel *** influence of Ni content(x)and calcination temperature on the synthesis and magnetic properties of NixZn_(1-x)Fe_(2)O_(4)compounds was investigated by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,and vibrating sample *** results revealed that both Ni content and calcination temperature significantly affect the synthesis and magnetic properties of spinel NixZn_(1-x)Fe_(2)O_(4).Under the conditions of Ni content set at x=0.6,calcination temperature of 1100℃,and a duration of 2 h,a spinel NixZn_(1-x)Fe_(2)O_(4)with high saturation magnetization(Ms=65.7 A m2 kg-1)and low coercivity(Hc=0.056 A m^(-1))was obtained.

Detection and interpretation of the time-varying seasonal signals in China with multi-geodetic measurements

The time-varying periodic variations in Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS) stations affect the reliable time series analysis and appropriate geophysical interpretation. In this study, we apply the singular spectrum analysis(SSA) method to characterize and interpret the periodic patterns of GNSS deformations in China using multiple geodetic datasets. These include 23-year observations from the Crustal Movement Observation Network of China(CMONOC), displacements inferred from the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment(GRACE), and loadings derived from Geophysical models(GM). The results reveal that all CMONOC time series exhibit seasonal signals characterized by amplitude and phase modulations, and the SSA method outperforms the traditional least squares fitting(LSF) method in extracting and interpreting the time-varying seasonal signals from the original time series. The decrease in the root mean square(RMS) correlates well with the annual cycle variance estimated by the SSA method, and the average reduction in noise amplitudes is nearly twice as much for SSA filtered results compared with those from the LSF method. With SSA analysis,the time-varying seasonal signals for all the selected stations can be identified in the reconstructed components corresponding to the first ten eigenvalues. Moreover, both RMS reduction and correlation analysis imply the advantages of GRACE solutions in explaining the GNSS periodic variations,and the geophysical effects can account for 71% of the GNSS annual amplitudes, and the average RMS reduction is 15%. The SSA method has proved to be useful for investigating the GNSS timevarying seasonal signals. It could be applicable as an auxiliary tool in the improvement of nonlinear variations investigations.
