Neurodegenerative diseases,including Alzheimer’s disease,Parkinson’s disease,huntington’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,are a group of incurable neurological disorders,characterized by the chronic progressive loss of different neuronal ***,despite its increasing prevalence among the everincreasing aging population,little progress has been made in the coincident immense efforts towards development of therapeutic *** interest has recently turned towards stem cells including stem cells-derived exosomes,neurotrophic factors,and their combination as potential therapeutic agents in neurodegenerative *** this review,we summarize the progress in therapeutic strategies based on stem cells combined with neurotrophic factors and mesenchymal stem cells-derived exosomes for neurodegenerative diseases,with an emphasis on the combination therapy.

We present two designs for a waveguide Oe-quantum-well electro-absorption modulator. In our designs, the strip SOI waveguides are butt-coupled and evanescent-coupled to the modulator, respectively. The proposed Gequantum-weB electro-absorption modulator is based on quantum-confined Stark effect （QCSE）, having a 3-dB bandwidth above 50GHz, as well as a low switching power （around 60fJ/bit at 1435nm）. In the butt-coupled design, the optimized extinction ratio is up to 11.4 dB, while the insertion loss is only 6. 74 dB. For the second one, which utilizes evanescent coupling, the extinction ratio and insertion loss are 9.18 dB and 6. 72 dB, respectively.

Gender differences are involved in many neurological disorders including epilepsy. However, little is known about the effect of gender difference on the risk of epilepsy in adults with a specific early pathological state such as complex febrile seizures（FSs） in infancy. Here we used a well-established complex FS model in rats and showed that：（1） the susceptibility to seizures induced by hyperthermia, pentylenetetrazol（PTZ）, and maximal electroshock（MES） was similar in male and female rat pups, while males were more susceptible to PTZ- and MES-induced seizures than age-matched females in normal adult rats;（2） adult rats with complex FSs in infancy acquired higher seizure susceptibility than normal rats; importantly, female FS rats were more susceptible to PTZ and MES than male FS rats; and（3） the protein expression of interleukin-1β, an infl ammatory factor associated with seizure susceptibility, was higher in adult FS females than in males, which may reflect a gender-difference phenomenon of seizure susceptibility. Our results provide direct evidence that the acquired seizure susceptibility after complex FSs is gender-dependent.

To prepare a conductive polymer actuator with decent performance,a self-built experimental platform for the preparation of polypyrrole film is *** of the essential goals is to examine the mechanical characteristics of the actuator in the presence of various combinations of process parameters,combined with the orthogonal test method of"four factors and three levels".The bending and sensing characteristics of actuators of various sizes are methodically examined using a self-made bending polypyrrole *** functional relationship between the bending displacement and the output voltage signal is established by studying the characteristics of the actuator sensor subjected to various degrees of *** experimental results reveal that the bending displacement of the actuator tip almost exhibits a linear variation as a function of length and *** the voltage reaches 0.8 V,the bending speed of the actuator tends to be ***,the mechanical properties of the self-assembled polypyrrole actuator are verified by the design and fabrication of the microgripper.

Anion-exchange membrane water electrolyzers(AEMWEs)for green hydrogen production have received intensive attention due to their feasibility of using earth-abundant NiFe-based *** introducing a third metal into NiFe-based catalysts to construct asymmetrical M-NiFe units,the d-orbital and electronic structures can be adjusted,which is an important strategy to achieve sufficient oxygen evolution reaction(OER)performance in ***,the ternary NiFeM(M:La,Mo)catalysts featured with distinct M-NiFe units and varying d-orbitals are reported in this *** and theoretical calculation results reveal that the doping of La leads to optimized hybridization between d orbital in NiFeM and 2p in oxygen,resulting in enhanced adsorption strength of oxygen intermediates,and reduced rate-determining step energy barrier,which is responsible for the enhanced OER *** critically,the obtained NiFeLa catalyst only requires 1.58 V to reach 1 A cm^(−2) in an anion exchange membrane electrolyzer and demonstrates excellent long-term stability of up to 600 h.

Aim:To investigate the role of histamine in memory deficits induced by MK-801infusion into the ventral hippocampus in ***:An 8-arm radial maze(4arms baited)was used to assess spatial ***:Bilateral ventralintrahippocampal(ih)infusion of MK-801(0.3 μg/site),an N-methyl-D-aspartate(NMDA)antagonist,impaired the retrieval process in both working memory andreference *** injection of histamine(25 or 50 ng/site)orintraperitoneal(ip)injection of histidine(25,50 or 100 mg/kg)markedly amelio-rated the spatial memory deficits induced by *** the histamine H1an-tagonist pyrilamine(0.5 or 1.0 μg/site,ih)and the H2 antagonist cimetidine(2.5 μg/site,ih)abolished the ameliorating effect of histidine( 100 mg/kg,ip)on reference memorydeficits,but not that on working memory deficits induced by ***:The results indicate that histamine in the ventral hippocampus can ameliorateMK-801-induced spatial memory deficits,and that histamine’s effect on referencememory is mediated by postsynaptic histamine H1and H2receptors.

Aim:To assess the contribution of single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNP)andhaplotypes in the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-y co-activator-1(PPARGC1)and adiponectin genes to normal bone mineral density(BMD)varia-tion in healthy Chinese women and ***:We performed population-based(ANOVA)and family-based(quantitative trait locus transmission disequi-librium test)association studies of PPARGC 1 and adiponectin *** in the2 genes were *** was measured using dual-energy X-rayabsorptiometry in the lumbar spine and hip in 401 nuclear families with a total of1260 subjects,including 458 premenopausal women,20-40 years of age;401 post-menopausal women(mothers),43-74 years of age;and 401 men(fathers),49-76years of ***:Significant within-family association was found betweenthe Thr394Thr polymorphism in the PPGAGC 1 gene and peak BMD in the femoralneck(P=0.026).Subsequent permutations were in agreement with this significantwithin-family association result(P=0.016),but Thr394Thr SNP only accounted for0.7% of the variation in femoral neck peak ***,no significant within-family association was detected between each SNP in the adiponectin gene andpeak *** no significant association was found between BMD andSNP in the PPARGCI and adiponectin genes in both men and postmenopausalwomen,haplotype 2(T-T)in the adiponectin gene was associated with lumbarspine BMD in postmenopausal women(P=0.019).Conclusion:Our findings sug-gest that Thr394Thr SNP in the PPARGC1 gene was associated with peak BMD inthe femoral neck in Chinese *** of our results is needed in otherpopulations and with more functional markers within and flanking the PPARGCIor adiponectin genes region.

People-centric activity recognition is one of the most critical technologies in a wide range of real-world applications,including intelligent transportation systems, healthcare services, and brain-computer interfaces. Large-scale data collection and annotation make the application of machine learning algorithms prohibitively expensive when adapting to new tasks. One way of circumventing this limitation is to train the model in a semi-supervised learning manner that utilizes a percentage of unlabeled data to reduce the labeling burden in prediction tasks. Despite their appeal, these models often assume that labeled and unlabeled data come from similar distributions, which leads to the domain shift problem caused by the presence of distribution gaps. To address these limitations, we propose herein a novel method for people-centric activity recognition,called domain generalization with semi-supervised learning(DGSSL), that effectively enhances the representation learning and domain alignment capabilities of a model. We first design a new autoregressive discriminator for adversarial training between unlabeled and labeled source domains, extracting domain-specific features to reduce the distribution gaps. Second, we introduce two reconstruction tasks to capture the task-specific features to avoid losing information related to representation learning while maintaining task-specific consistency. Finally, benefiting from the collaborative optimization of these two tasks, the model can accurately predict both the domain and category labels of the source domains for the classification task. We conduct extensive experiments on three real-world sensing datasets. The experimental results show that DGSSL surpasses the three state-of-the-art methods with better performance and generalization.
