Small intestinal bacteria overgrowth decreases small intestinalmotility in the NASH rats

AIM: To explore the relationship between small intestinalmotility and small intestinal bacteria overgrowth(SIBO) in Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), andto investigate the effect of SIBO on the pathogenesisof NASH in rats. The effect of cidomycin in alleviatingseverity of NASH is also studied. METHODS: Forty eight rats were randomly dividedinto NASH group (n = 16), cidomycin group (n = 16)and control group (n = 16). Then each group weresubdivided into small intestinal motility group (n = 8),bacteria group (n = 8) respectively. A semi-solid coloredmarker was used for monitoring small intestinal *** proximal small intestine was harvested under sterilecondition and processed for quantitation for aerobes(E. coli) and anaerobes (Lactobacilli). Liver pathologicscore was calculated to qualify the severity of *** ALT, AST levels were detected to evaluate theseverity of hepatitis. RESULTS: Small intestinal transit was inhibited inNASH group (P < 0.01). Rats treated with cidomycinhad higher small intestine transit rate than rats in NASHgroup (P < 0.01). High fat diet resulted in quantitativealterations in the aerobes (E. coli ) but not in theanoerobics (Lactobacill). There was an increase in thenumber of E. coli in the proximal small intestinal florain NASH group than in control group (1.70 ± 0.12 log10(CFU/g) vs 1.28 ± 0.07 log10 (CFU/g), P < 0.01). TNF-αconcentration was significantly higher in NASH groupthan in control group (1.13 ± 0.15 mmol/L vs 0.57 ±0.09 mmol/L, P < 0.01). TNF-α concentration was lowerin cidomycin group than in NASH group (0.63 ± 0.09mmol/L vs 1.13 ± 0.15 mmol/L, P < 0.01). Treatmentwith cidomycin showed its effect by significantly loweringserum ALT, AST and TNF-α levels of NASH rats. CONCLUSION: SIBO may decrease small intestinalmovement in NASH rats. SIBO may be an importantpathogenesis of Nash. And treatment with cidomycin by mouth can alleviate the severity of NASH.

Power Supply Noise Aware Task Scheduling on Homogeneous 3D MPSoCs Considering the Thermal Constraint

Thanks to the emerging 3D integration technology, The multiprocessor system on chips （MPSoCs） can now integrate more IP cores on chip with improved energy efficiency. However, several severe challenges also rise up for 3D ICs due to the die-stacking architecture. Among them, power supply noise becomes a big concern. In the paper, we investigate power supply noise （PSN） interactions among different cores and tiers and show that PSN variations largely depend on task assignments. On the other hand, high integration density incurs a severe thermal issue on 3D ICs. In the paper, we propose a novel task scheduling framework considering both the PSN and the thermal issue. It mainly consists of three parts. First, we extract current stimuli of running tasks by analyzing their power traces derived from architecture level simulations. Second, we develop an efficient power delivery network （PDN） solver to evaluate PSN magnitudes efficiently. Third, we propose a heuristic algorithm to solve the formulated task scheduling problem. Compared with the state-of-the-art task assignment algorithm, the proposed method can reduce PSN by 12% on a 2 × 2 × 2 3D MPSoCs and by 14% on a 3 × 3 × 3 3D MPSoCs. The end-to-end task execution time also improves as much as 5.5% and 7.8% respectively due to the suppressed PSN.

Spin-orbit torque(SOT)has been considered as one of the promising technologies for the next-generation magnetic random access memory(MRAM).So far,SOT has been widely utilized for inducing various modes of magnetization ***,it is a challenge that so many multiple modes of magnetization switching are integrated *** we propose a method of implementing both unipolar switching and bipolar switching of the perpendicular magnetization within a single SOT *** mode of switching can be easily changed by tuning the amplitude of the applied *** show that the field-like torque plays an important role in switching *** field-like torque induces the precession of the magnetization in the case of unipolar switching,however,the field-like torque helps to generate an effective zcomponent torque in the case of bipolar *** addition,the influence of key parameters on the mode of switching is discussed,including the field-like torque strength,the bias field,and the current *** proposal can be used to design novel reconfigurable logic circuits in the near future.

Theoretical Exploration of Alloying Effects on Stabilities and Mechanical Properties ofγʹPhase in Novel Co–Al–Nb-Base Superalloys

The new developedγ/γʹCo–Al–Nb-base alloys show great potentials as high-temperature ***,finding appropriate compositions to improve performance of alloys still poses a great challenge to the development of Co–Al–Nb-base *** by the lack of alloying effects on fundamental properties of criticalγʹphase,we systematically performed a theoretical investigation on the effect of alloying elements TM(TM:Ti,V,Cr,Zr,Mo,Ta,W,Re,and Ru)on phase stabilities and mechanical properties of L1_(2)-typeγʹ(Co,Ni)_(3)(Al,Nb).By analyzing the stability ofγʹphase with respect to its competitive B2 and D0_(19) phases,the results shown that Ti,V,and Cr enhance the L1_(2) stability and widen the L1_(2)–D0_(19) energy barrier,in which V yields the maximum *** analysis of electronic structure indicated that the alternation of valence electrons at fermi level would be the atomic origin for doping TM inγʹ*** calculated results of mechanical properties shown that V and Cr are expected to be optimal dopant for enhancing the strength and the ductility ofγʹ*** addition of Ta is also beneficial for enhancing the strength at the slight expense of ductility ofγʹ*** drawing the mechanical maps,the preferred composition range for the phases with desired properties is roughly demarcated in theory for the multi-addition of V/Cr and V/Ta inγʹ*** findings would be useful for optimizing the performance of novelγ/γʹCo–Al–Nb-base superalloys.

Source model of the 2018 M_(w)7.5 Papua New Guinea earthquake constrained by InSAR measurements: Insight into a blind rupture beneath the New Guinea Highlands

The Southern Highland Fold and Thrust Belt(SHFTB),the boundary of the Australian plate and the New Guinea Highland block,significantly contributes to the convergent deformation along the plate ***,due to the lack of observation data,the detailed slip pattern of the SHFTB and the orogenic mechanism beneath the New Guinea Highlands remains *** 25 February 2018,the M_(w)7.5 Papua New Guinea(PNG)earthquake struck the southeastern segment of the *** detailed rupture characteristics of this event is significant for further clarifying the inter-seismic slip pattern along the ***,the coseismic deformation field of this earthquake was obtained using high-resolution ALOS-2 satellite *** find that the 2018 M_(w)7.5 PNG earthquake ruptured a large-scaled fault(SHFTB)extending to the lower crust(deeper than 20 km)beneath the New Guinea Highlands,with a dip angle of 24°.The slips on the fault plane are equivalent to moment magnitudes of M_(w)*** major asperities with thrust-dominated slip of up to 3.94 m are detected on the fault *** finding implies that the slip pattern on the eastern segment of the SHFTB is dominated by thrust,rather than with significant sinistral movement,as previously *** tectonic deformation across the New Guinea Highlands is possibly concentrated on the large-scale fault SHFTB and primarily controls the intra-continental orogeny in the central Papua New Guinea.

The stability of vapor nanobubbles in bulk liquid was investigated theoretically and the critical bubble size was derived from macroscale thermodynamic equations,below which the system destabilizes with sharp drop in *** critical size was quantitatively verified in molecular dynamic simulation using the Lennard-Jones model of argon,where stronger attraction between the molecules at lower density is found to contribute most to the drop of system pressure and,as the Laplace pressure on the curved bubble interface fails to balance the pressure difference across the interface,the bubbles become *** theoretical model could be extended to other systems where reliable equations of state and interfacial tension are available.

Development of a prognostic scoring system for hepatic vena cava Budd-Chiari syndrome with hepatocellular carcinoma

Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a serious complication of hepatic vena cava Budd-Chiari syndrome(HVC-BCS)that significantly reduces the survival time of *** study aimed to analyze the prognostic factors influencing the survival of HVC-BCS patients with HCC and to develop a prognostic scoring ***:The clinical and follow-up data of 64 HVC-BCS patients with HCC who received invasive treatment at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University between January 2015 and December 2019 were retrospectively ***-Meier curves and log-rank tests were used to analyze the survival curve of patients and the difference in prognoses between the *** and multivariate Cox regression analyses were performed to analyze the influence of biochemical,tumor,and etiological characteristics on the total survival time of patients,and a new prognostic scoring system was developed according to the regression coefficients of the independent predictors in the statistical *** prediction efficiency was evaluated using the time-dependent receiver operating characteristics curve and concordance ***:Multivariate analysis showed that serum albumin level7 cm(HR=8.623,95%CI:3.771-19.715,P<0.001),and inferior vena cava stenosis(HR=3.612,95%CI:1.646-7.928,P=0.001)were independent predictors of survival.A prognostic scoring system was developed according to the above-mentioned independent predictors,and patients were classified into grades A,B,C and *** differences in survival were found among the four ***:This study successfully developed a prognostic scoring system for HVC-BCS patients with HCC,which is helpful for clinical evaluation of patient prognosis.

Wettability and corrosion behavior between alkaline slag from sodium smelting of vanadium-titanium magnetite and refractory substrates

The sodium smelting of vanadium-titanium magnetite can achieve the comprehensive utilization of Fe,V,and ***,the generation of alkaline slag during this process may cause damage to refractory *** wettability and corrosion behavior of alkaline slag on three types of refractory(MgO-C,SiC,and high alumina refractory)substrates were investigated at temperatures up to 1200℃.The effects of duration on the wettability of molten slag on SiC substrates were also *** showed that the high alumina refractory exhibited better wettability with the molten slag than the others,and thus,it is easier to be *** results of scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy showed that MgO-C and high alumina refractory substrates were severely *** was a visible and regular interfacial reaction layer between the slag and SiC refractory substrate,which was produced by the redox reaction between the metal oxides in the slag and the SiC refractory *** the increase in holding time,the interface layer expands and silico-ferrite phases are generated at the *** redox reaction between Fe_(2)O_(3) and SiC substrate is the main reason for the *** comparing the differences in wettability and corrosion behavior between the alkaline slag from sodium smelting of vanadium-titanium magnetite and MgO-C,SiC and high alumina refractories,it is concluded that SiC refractory has good corrosion resistance to the *** oxides in the slag accelerate the oxidation rate of SiC refractory.
