Influence of topography on the fine structures of stratospheric gravity waves:An analysis using COSMIC-2 temperature data

We derive the potential energy of gravity waves(GWs)in the upper troposphere and stratosphere at 45°S-45°N from December 2019 to November 2022 by using temperature profiles retrieved from the Constellation Observing System for Meteorology,Ionosphere,and Climate-2(COSMIC-2)*** to the dense sampling of COSMIC-2,in addition to the strong peaks of gravity wave potential energy(GWPE)above the Andes and Tibetan Plateau,we found weak peaks above the Rocky,Atlas,Caucasus,and Tianshan *** land-sea contrast is responsible for the longitudinal variations of the GWPE in the lower and upper *** 40°N/S,the peaks were mainly above the topographic regions during the *** 20°N/S,the peaks were a slight distance away from the topographic regions and might be the combined effect of nontopographic GWs and mountain *** the Equator,the peaks were mainly above the regions with the lowest sea level altitude and may have resulted from *** results indicate that even above the local regions with lower sea level altitudes compared with the Andes and Tibetan Plateau,the GWPE also exhibits fine structures in geographic *** found that dissipation layers above the tropopause jet provide the body force to generate secondary waves in the upper stratosphere,especially during the winter months of each hemisphere and at latitudes of greater than 20°N/S.

Supplementation of alanine improves biomass accumulation and lipid production of Chlorella pyrenoidosa by increasing the respiratory and metabolic processes

The function of exogenous alanine(Ala)in regulating biomass accumulation,lipid production,photosynthesis,and respiration in Chlorella pyrenoidosa was *** shows that the supplementation of Ala increased *** biomass and lipid production in an 8-d batch *** concentration of 10 mmol/L of Ala was optimum and increased the microalgal cell biomass and lipid content by 39.3%and 21.4%,respectively,compared with that in the control(0-mmol/L Ala).Ala supplementation reduced photosynthetic activity while boosting respiratory activity and pyruvate levels,indicating that *** used exogenous Ala for biomass accumulation through the respiratory metabolic *** accelerated respiratory metabolism due to Ala supplementation elevated the substrate pool and improved the lipogenic gene expression,promoting lipid production at *** study provided a novel method for increasing biomass accumulation and lipid production and elucidated the role of Ala in regulating lipid production.

Effect of Incoming Vortex on Secondary Flows in Turbine Cascades with Planar and Non-Axisymmetric Endwall

Non-Axisymmetric Endwall Profiling(NAEP) is commonly utilized in turbines to eliminate secondary ***,most of the NAEP methods consider a single-blade row environment without incorporating the effect of the stage *** paper aims to investigate the influence mechanism of the incoming vortex on the endwall secondary flow structures of NAEP in a highly loaded turbine *** model the incoming vortex in a stage environment,this study considers a half-delta wing as the vortex generator at the upstream of the turbine *** NAEP is then carried out for a highly loaded turbine cascade with an in-house numerical optimization design platform subject to no incoming *** simulation is also carried out under the influence of the incoming vortex for the turbine cascades with both planar and non-axisymmetric *** paper furthers investigated the pitchwise effect of the incoming vortex on the near endwall secondary *** results indicate that the NAEP effectively improves the endwall secondary flow of the turbine cascade,where the total pressure loss coefficient and the secondary kinetic energy(SKE) are reduced by 7.3%,and 45.7%,*** is further seen that with the incoming vortex,the NAEP achieves a considerable control effect on the endwall secondary flow of the turbine *** incoming vortex,the NAEP can still achieve considerable control effect on the endwall secondary flow of the turbine cascade;the averaged reductions of loss coefficient and SKE are 7.8% and 14.2%,*** some pitchwise locations,incoming vortex can suppress the convection of cross-passage flow toward the suction corner greatly and reduce the loss coefficient of the baseline *** incoming vortex at 4/7 pitch impinged right at the blade leading edge,leading to the generation of low-momentum fluid,which increased the size and the strength of the horseshoe *** all the pitchwise locations,NAEP can suppress the seco

Vibration Suppression for Active Magnetic Bearings Using Adaptive Filter with Iterative Search Algorithm

Active Magnetic Bearing(AMB) is a kind of electromagnetic support that makes the rotor movement frictionless and can suppress rotor vibration by controlling the magnetic force. The most common approach to restrain the rotor vibration in AMBs is to adopt a notch filter or adaptive filter in the AMB controller. However, these methods cannot obtain the precise amplitude and phase of the compensation current. Thus, they are not so effective in terms of suppressing the vibrations of the fundamental and other harmonic orders over the whole speed range. To improve the vibration suppression performance of AMBs,an adaptive filter based on Least Mean Square(LMS) is applied to extract the vibration signals from the rotor displacement signal. An Iterative Search Algorithm(ISA) is proposed in this paper to obtain the corresponding relationship between the compensation current and vibration signals. The ISA is responsible for searching the compensating amplitude and shifting phase online for the LMS filter, enabling the AMB controller to generate the corresponding compensation force for vibration suppression. The results of ISA are recorded to suppress vibration using the Look-Up Table(LUT) in variable speed range. Comprehensive simulations and experimental validations are carried out in fixed and variable speed range, and the results demonstrate that by employing the ISA, vibrations of the fundamental and other harmonic orders are suppressed effectively.

In this study,we synthesized an organic material with near-infrared emission capabilities:4-(2-(4-(9-(4-(diphenylamino)phenyl)naphtho[2,3-c][1,2,5]thiadiazol-4-yl)phenyl)-1H-phenol-1-ylidene)malononitrile(TPA).Furthermore,TPA-PEG2000 fluorescent nanoparticles were prepared via coating the shells with ***-PEG2000 exhibited strong near-infrared emission near 700 nm,with a photoluminescence quantum yield of 15.09%,indicating a high emission *** biology experiments have confirmed its low toxicity and excellent *** cholesterol and phospholipid levels in liver cancer cell membranes with low sensitivity or high drug resistance lead to increased rigidity,reduced membrane fluidity,reduced endocytic efficiency,and reduced ***,the uptake of TPA-PEG2000 nanoparticles into cells and the near-infrared fluorescence intensity can be used to evaluate the sensitivity of systemic liver cancer treatment in a simple and efficient manner.

Structural Evolution of Ultra-High Molecular weight Polyethylene Low-Entangled Films with Reserved Shish Crystals During Hot Stretching

Shish crystals are crucial to achieving high performance low-dimensional ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) products. Typically, high stretch and shear flow fields are necessary for the formation of shish crystals. In this study, UHMWPE gel films with reserved shish crystals were prepared by gel molding, the structural evolution and properties of UHMWPE films stretched at temperatures of 100, 110, 120 and 130 degrees C were investigated by in situ small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS)/ultra-small-angle X-ray scattering (USAXS)/wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) measurements as well as scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements. Our findings showed that the reserved shish crystals can facilitate the formation and structural evolution of shish-kebab crystals during the hot stretching. Additionally, the reserved shish crystals promote the structural evolution of UHMWPE films to a greater extent when stretched at 120 and 130 degrees C, compared to 100 and 110 degrees C, resulting in higher crystallinity, orientation, thermal properties, breaking strength and Young's modulus. Compared to UHMWPE high-entangled films with reserved shish crystals prepared by compression molding, UHMWPE low-entangled films with reserved shish crystals prepared by gel molding are more effective in inducing the formation and evolution of shish-kebab crystals during the hot stretching, resulting in increased breaking strength and Young's modulus.

Regression Method for Rail Fastener Tightness Based on Center-Line Projection

In the railway system,fasteners have the functions of damping,maintaining the track distance,and adjusting the track ***,routine maintenance and inspection of fasteners are important to ensure the safe operation of track ***,assessment methods for fastener tightness include manual observation,acoustic wave detection,and image *** are limitations such as low accuracy and efficiency,easy interference and misjudgment,and a lack of accurate,stable,and fast detection *** at the small deformation characteristics and large elastic change of fasteners from full loosening to full tightening,this study proposes high-precision surface-structured light technology for fastener detection and fastener deformation feature extraction based on the center-line projection distance and a fastener tightness regression method based on neural ***,the method uses a 3D camera to obtain a fastener point cloud and then segments the elastic rod area based on the iterative closest point algorithm *** component analysis is used to calculate the normal vector of the segmented elastic rod surface and extract the point on the centerline of the elastic *** point is projected onto the upper surface of the bolt to calculate the projection ***,the mapping relationship between the projection distance sequence and fastener tightness is established,and the influence of each parameter on the fastener tightness prediction is ***,by setting up a fastener detection scene in the track experimental base,collecting data,and completing the algorithm verification,the results showed that the deviation between the fastener tightness regression value obtained after the algorithm processing and the actual measured value RMSE was 0.2196 mm,which significantly improved the effect compared with other tightness detection methods,and realized an effective fastener tightness regression.

Lithium recovery from spent lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)have attracted extensive attention due to the skyrocketing price of *** medium-temperature carbon reduction roasting was proposed to preferential selective extraction of lithium from spent Li-CoO_(2)(LCO)cathodes to overcome the incomplete recovery and loss of lithium during the recycling *** LCO layered structure was destroyed and lithium was completely converted into water-soluble Li2CO_(3)under a suitable temperature to control the reduced state of the cobalt *** Co metal agglomerates generated during medium-temperature carbon reduction roasting were broken by wet grinding and ultrasonic crushing to release the entrained *** results showed that 99.10%of the whole lithium could be recovered as Li2CO_(3)with a purity of 99.55%.This work provided a new perspective on the preferentially selective extraction of lithium from spent lithium batteries.

Multi-scale context-aware network for continuous sign language recognition

The hands and face are the most important parts for expressing sign language morphemes in sign language videos. However, we find that existing Continuous Sign Language Recognition (CSLR) methods lack the mining of hand and face information in visual backbones or use expensive and time-consuming external extractors to explore this information. In addition, the signs have different lengths, whereas previous CSLR methods typically use a fixed-length window to segment the video to capture sequential features and then perform global temporal modeling, which disturbs the perception of complete signs. In this study, we propose a Multi-Scale Context-Aware network (MSCA-Net) to solve the aforementioned problems. Our MSCA-Net contains two main modules: ( 1) Multi-Scale Motion Attention (MSMA), which uses the differences among frames to perceive information of the hands and face in multiple spatial scales, replacing the heavy feature extractors; and ( 2) Multi-Scale Temporal Modeling (MSTM), which explores crucial temporal information in the sign language video from different temporal scales. We conduct extensive experiments using three widely used sign language datasets, i.e., RWTH-PHOENIX-Weather-2014, RWTH-PHOENIX-Weather-2014T, and CSL-Daily. The proposed MSCA-Net achieve state-of-the-art performance, demonstrating the effectiveness of our approach.
