Cancer,a complex and multifactorial disease,presents a significant challenge to global *** significant advances in surgical,radiotherapeutic and immunological approaches,which have improved cancer treatment outcomes,drug therapy continues to serve as a key therapeutic ***,the clinical efficacy of drug therapy is often constrained by drug resistance and severe toxic side effects,and thus there remains a critical need to develop novel cancer *** promising strategy that has received widespread attention in recent years is drug repurposing:the identification of new applications for existing,clinically approved *** repurposing possesses several inherent advantages in the context of cancer treatment since repurposed drugs are typically cost-effective,proven to be safe,and can significantly expedite the drug development process due to their already established safety *** light of this,the present review offers a comprehensive overview of the various methods employed in drug repurposing,specifically focusing on the repurposing of drugs to treat *** describe the antitumor properties of candidate drugs,and discuss in detail how they target both the hallmarks of cancer in tumor cells and the surrounding tumor *** addition,we examine the innovative strategy of integrating drug repurposing with nanotechnology to enhance topical drug *** also emphasize the critical role that repurposed drugs can play when used as part of a combination therapy *** conclude,we outline the challenges associated with repurposing drugs and consider the future prospects of these repurposed drugs transitioning into clinical application.

Accumulating evidence shows that cellular and acellular components in tumor microenvironment(TME)can reprogram tumor initiation,growth,invasion,metastasis,and response to *** research and treatment have switched from a cancercentric model to a TME-centric one,considering the increasing significance of TME in cancer ***,the clinical efficacy of therapeutic strategies targeting TME,especially the specific cells or pathways of TME,remains *** the chemopathological characteristics of TME and crosstalk among one another can greatly benefit further studies exploring effective treating ***,we present an updated image of TME with emphasis on hypoxic niche,immune microenvironment,metabolism microenvironment,acidic niche,innervated niche,and mechanical *** then summarize conventional drugs including aspirin,celecoxib,β-adrenergic antagonist,metformin,and statin in new antitumor *** drugs are considered as viable candidates for combination therapy due to their antitumor activity and extensive use in clinical *** also provide our outlook on directions and potential applications of TME *** review depicts a comprehensive and vivid landscape of TME from biology to treatment.

Towards sustainable adversarial training with successive perturbation generation

Adversarial training with online-generated adversarial examples has achieved promising performance in defending adversarial attacks and improving robustness of convolutional neural network ***,most existing adversarial training methods are dedicated to finding strong adversarial examples for forcing the model to learn the adversarial data distribution,which inevitably imposes a large computational overhead and results in a decrease in the generalization performance on clean *** this paper,we show that progressively enhancing the adversarial strength of adversarial examples across training epochs can effectively improve the model robustness,and appropriate model shifting can preserve the generalization performance of models in conjunction with negligible computational *** this end,we propose a successive perturbation generation scheme for adversarial training(SPGAT),which progressively strengthens the adversarial examples by adding the perturbations on adversarial examples transferred from the previous epoch and shifts models across the epochs to improve the efficiency of adversarial *** proposed SPGAT is both efficient and effective;e.g.,the computation time of our method is 900 min as against the 4100 min duration observed in the case of standard adversarial training,and the performance boost is more than 7%and 3%in terms of adversarial accuracy and clean accuracy,*** extensively evaluate the SPGAT on various datasets,including small-scale MNIST,middle-scale CIFAR-10,and large-scale *** experimental results show that our method is more efficient while performing favorably against state-of-the-art methods.

Effects of thinning on the understory light environment of different stands and the photosynthetic performance and growth of the reforestation species Phoebe bournei

Light levels determine regeneration in stands and a key concern is how to regulate the light environment of different stand types to the requirements of the *** this study,we selected three stands typical in south China(a Cryptomeria japonica plantation,a Quercus acutissima plantation,and a mixed stand of both)and three thinning intensities to determine the best understory light environ-ment for 3-year-old Phoebe bournei *** canopy structure,understory light environment,and photosynthe-sis and growth indicators were assessed following *** improved canopy structure and understory light availability of each stand;species composition was the reason for differences in the understory light *** the same thinning intensity,the mixed stand had the greatest light radiation and most balanced spectral *** photosynthesis and growth were closely related to the light environment;all three stands required heavy thinning to create an effective and sustained understory light *** a suitable understory light environment,the efficiency of light interception,absorption,and use by seedlings was enhanced,resulting in a higher carbon assimilation the main limiting factor was stomatal *** a shade-avoidance signal,red/far-red radia-tion is a critical factor driving changes in photosynthesis and growth of *** seedlings,and a reduction increased light absorption and use capacity and height:diameter *** growth advantage transformed from diameter to height,enabling seedlings to access more *** findings suggest that the regeneration of shade-tolerant species such as *** could be enhanced if a targeted approach to thinning based on stand type was adopted.

Simultaneous purification of minor components in natural products using twin-column recycling chromatography with a step solvent gradient

The isolation of minor components from complex natural product matrices presents a significant challenge in the field of purification science due to their low concentrations and the presence of structurally similar *** study introduces an optimized twin-column recycling chromatography method for the efficient and simultaneous purification of these elusive *** introducing water at a small flowing rate between the twin columns,a step solvent gradient is created,by which the leading edge of concentration band would migrate at a slower rate than the trailing edge as it flowing from the upstream to downstream ***,the band broadening is counterbalanced,resulting in an enrichment effect for those minor components in separation ***,two target substances,which showed similar peak position in high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)and did not exceed 1.8%in crude paclitaxel were selected as target compounds for *** using the twin-column recycling chromatography with a step solvent gradient,a successful purification was achieved in getting the two with the purity almost 100%.We suggest this method is suitable for the separation of most components in natural produces,which shows higher precision and recovery rate compared with the common lab-operated separation ways for natural products(thin-layer chromatography and prep-HPLC).

The ocean is one of the essential fields of national defense in the future,and more and more attention is paid to the lightweight research of Marine equipment and *** study it is to develop a Machine learning(ML)-based prediction method to study the evolution of the mechanical properties of Al-Li alloys in the marine *** obtained the mechanical properties of Al-Li alloy samples under uniaxial tensile deformation at different exposure times through Marine exposure *** obtained the strain evolution by digital image correlation(DIC).The strain field images are voxelized using 2D-Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN)autoencoders as input data for Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)neural ***,the output data of LSTM neural networks combined with corrosion features were input into the Back Propagation(BP)neural network to predict the mechanical properties of Al-Li *** main conclusions are as follows:*** variation law of mechanical properties of2297-T8 in the Marine atmosphere is *** the increase in outdoor exposure test time,the tensile elastic model of 2297-T8 changes slowly,within 10%,and the tensile yield stress changes significantly,with a maximum attenuation of 23.6%.*** prediction model can predict the strain evolution and mechanical response simultaneously with an error of less than 5%.*** study shows that a CNN/LSTM system based on machine learning can be built to capture the corrosion characteristics of Marine exposure *** results show that the relationship between corrosion characteristics and mechanical response can be predicted without considering the microstructure evolution of metal materials.

Internal Stress Distribution Model of the Magnetomechanical Hysteresis of Fe-Cr-Al Based Alloys

The damping capacities of Fe-13Cr-6AI, Fe-12Cr-1Mo-6AI and Fe-12Cr-1Mn-6Al （at.%） alloys as a function of strain-amplitude tested in a given static load are characterized in the 3-point bending deformation mode. After being modified, Smith-Birchak model is applied to describe the results. It is shown that the modified model agrees with the experimental data much better than the original one. Finally, the influences of stress factors on the damping capacity of the alloys are analyzed.

Towards overcoming obstacles of type Ⅱ photodynamic therapy:Endogenous production of light,photosensitizer,and oxygen

Conventional photodynamic therapy(PDT)approaches face challenges including limited light penetration,low uptake of photosensitizers by tumors,and lack of oxygen in tumor *** promising solution is to internally generate light,photosensitizers,and *** can be accomplished through endogenous production,such as using bioluminescence as an endogenous light source,synthesizing genetically encodable photosensitizers in situ,and modifying cells genetically to express catalase ***,these strategies have been reinforced by the recent rapid advancements in synthetic *** this review,we summarize and discuss the approaches to overcome PDT obstacles by means of endogenous production of excitation light,photosensitizers,and *** envision that as synthetic biology advances,genetically engineered cells could act as precise and targeted“living factories”to produce PDT components,leading to enhanced performance of PDT.
