In this paper,numerical simulations on vortex-induced motions(VIM)of a semi-submersible at two different current headings are conducted over a wide range of current *** simulations are performed with the computational fluid dynamics(CFD)solver VIM-FOAM-SJTU which is an in-house solver developed based on the OpenFOAM *** turbulent flows are resolved with a shear stress transport-delayed detached eddy simulation(SST-DDES)*** decay tests for transverse and yaw motion are performed in calm still water to make sure the equivalent stiffness is setup *** the results of VIM,including motion response,forces and moments,and flow patterns are presented and analyzed *** including transverse,in-line and yaw motion at different current headings and velocities are *** vorticity in the wake regions at different time stamps are also illustrated for different current headings and velocities.

Tungsten(W),as a plasma-facing material,is subjected to high fluence plasma,resulting in both radiation damage and deuterium(D)*** study explores the blistering behavior and D supersaturated layers in both pre-damaged and undamaged W *** achieve a uniform damage profile similar to neutron irradiation,carbon(C)ions with multiple energies and angles were *** samples were further irradiated with low-energy D ions under two fluences at temperatures from~380 to 640 *** various experimental techniques,we found that pre-damaged W samples can effectively suppress the formation of blistering and lower the threshold temperature at which the surface remains free of *** also observed the prominent D supersaturated peaks within the depth of 20 nm in both pre-damaged and undamaged ***,a close correlation between blistering and the D supersaturation was *** results suggest that neutron irradiation in the fusion reactors could increase the critical D concentration for blistering,while a greater depth of damage facilitated the inward diffusion of D,thereby reducing the D concentration gradient and alleviating surface blistering.

The effect of Al and Zn additives on the grain size of Mg-3Ni-2MnO_(2) alloy was *** nanostructured Mg-3Ni-2MnO_(2) and Mg-3Ni-2MnO_(2)-3Al-Zn were made by ball milling process under hydrogen *** XRD results and TEM analysis reveal that Al and Zn additives almost have no effect on the grain size of Mg-3Ni-2MnO_(2) *** present study provides us a feasibility of producing nano-structured magnesium alloys,based on hydrogenation,disproportionation,desorption and recombination(HDDR),by adding beneficial elements to hydrogen storage materials.

Spherical Li-rich lithium manganese oxide（LMO） spinel material was synthesized by an ion implanted method assisted by polyalcohol doped with Niobium and Phosphate *** material was characterized by scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction and BET specific surface area *** electrochemical performances were investigated with galvanostatic techniques and cyclic *** synthesis process was investigated with Tg/*** results show that the lithium ion can be immersed into the pore of manganese dioxide at a low temperature with the ion implanted *** prepared materials have a higher discharge capacity and better crystallization than those prepared by solid phase *** doped Nb can improve the capacity of the Li-rich LMO spinel and reinforce the crystal growth along（111） and（400） *** crystal grains show circular and smooth morphology,which makes the specific surface area greatly ***-doped LMO spinel exhibits good high-rate capacity and structure *** prepared Li（1.09）Mn（1.87）Nb（0.031）O（3.99）（PO4）（0.021）delivers a discharge capacity of 119mAhg^-1 at 0.2C（1C=148mAg^-1） and 112.8 mAhg^-1 at 10 C,the discharge capacity retention reaches 98% at 1 ℃ after 50 cycles at 25 ℃ and 94% at 55 ℃.

In this paper, numerical method is used als. A typical unit of masonry is selected to serve merical model of RVE is established with detailed to study the strain rate effect on masonry materias a representative volume element （RVE）. Nudistinctive modeling of brick and mortar with their respective dynamic material properties obtained from laboratory tests. The behavior of brick and mortar are characterized by a dynamic damage model that accounts for rate-sensitive and pressuredependent properties of masonry materials. Dynamic loads of different loading rates are applied to RVE. The equivalent homogenized uniaxial compressive strength, threshold strain and elastic modulus in three directions of the masonry are derived from the simulated responses of the RVE. The strain rate effect on the masonry material with clay brick and mortar, such as the dynamic increase factor （DIF） of the ultimate strength and elastic modulus as a function of strain rate are derived from the numerical results.

Despite numerous reported lithium metal batteries(LMBs) with excellent cycling performance achieved in labs, transferring the high performing LMBs from lab-scale to industrial-production remains challenging. Therefore, via imitating the stand-still process in battery production, a conventional but important procedure, to investigate the formation and evolution of a solid electrolyte interface(SEI) is particularly important for LMBs. Our previous studies indicate that zein(corn protein)-modified carbonate-ester electrolyte(the most commercialized) effectively improves the performance of LMBs through guiding Li-ions and repairing cracked SEI. Herein, we investigate the formation and evolution of the protein-modified SEIs on Li anodes by imitating the stand-still temperature and duration. A simulation study on the protein denaturation in the electrolyte under different temperatures demonstrates a highly unfolded configuration at elevated temperatures. The experiments show that this heat-treated-zein(H-zein) modified SEI forms quickly and becomes stable after a stand-still process of less than 100 min. Moreover, the Hzein SEI exhibits excellent wetting behavior with the electrolyte due to the highly unfolded protein structures with more functional groups exposed. The Li|Li cell with the H-zein SEI achieves prolonged cycling performance(>360 h vs. ~260 h of the cell with the untreated-zein(U-zein) modified SEI). The Li Fe PO_(4)|Li cell with the H-zein SEI shows much stable long-term cycling performance of capacity retention(70% vs.42% of the cell with U-zein SEI) after 200 cycles. This study confirms that the appropriately treated protein is able to effectively improve the performance of LMBs, and will inspire future studies for the production process of LMBs toward their commercialization.

Layer-structured Ruddlesden–Popper(RP)perovskites(RPPs)with decent stability have captured the imagination of the photovoltaic research community and bring hope for boosting the development of perovskite solar cell(PSC)***,two-dimensional(2D)or quasi-2D RP PSCs are encountered with some challenges of the large exciton binding energy,blocked charge transport and poor film quality,which restrict their photovoltaic ***,these issues can be readily resolved by rationally designing spacer cations of *** review mainly focuses on how to design the molecular structures of organic spacers and aims to endow RPPs with outstanding photovoltaic *** firstly elucidated the important roles of organic spacers in impacting crystallization kinetics,charge transporting ability and stability of *** we brought three aspects to attention for designing organic ***,we presented the specific molecular structure design strategies for organic spacers of RPPs aiming to improve photovoltaic performance of RP *** proposed strategies in this review will provide new avenues to develop novel organic spacers for RPPs and advance the development of RPP photovoltaic technology for future applications.

A robust fiber sensor for salinity measurement based on encapsulated long-period grating in microfiber is proposed. The long-period grating is fabricated in microfiber by inducing periodical deformation with CO2 laser, which is then encapsulated in a holey capillary tube. The encapsulation tube is designed to effectively protect the microfiber from external interference, but does not change the optical properties of the fiber and the response speed of the sensor, which makes the sensor more robust for real applications. Experimental results show that the sensor can achieve a sensitivity of 2.16 nm/% with a good linearity for concentration from 0% to 20%. It is theoretically proved that the sensitivity can be further improved by optimizing the diameter parameters. Such structure may be used as low loss evanescent-wave-coupled optical absorption, fluorescent and gain cells, photoacoustic cells, and etc.

Nanostructured Mg-3Ni-2MnO_(2) was synthesized by ball milling elemental powders of Mg,Ni and MnO_(2) in hydrogen *** microstructures of the powder prepared at different milling time were analyzed by X-ray diffractometry(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and high resolution electron microscopy(HREM).The milling time is the most key parameter impacting on the grain size and the microstructure of *** prolonging the milling time,particle size becomes smaller and *** after the ball milling time reaches about 20 h,reduction of grain size becomes *** the milling time is more than 50 h,nanocrystalline fully *** the milling time is more than 80 h,there are more amorphous phases in *** average particle diameter of material is about 1μm and the grain size is 10-30 nm.
