Experimental Study on Consolidation Properties of Hydrate-Bearing Fine-Grained Sediments Collected from the Shenhu Area of the Northern South China Sea

Mechanical properties of hydrate-bearing fine-grained sediments are crucial to effectively mitigate environmental risks caused by artificial and natural decomposition of natural gas hydrates,and the decomposition can induce laterally confined *** explore the effect of natural gas hydrates on laterally confined compression properties,consolidation tests are conducted on remolded hydrate-free and hydrate-bearing samples by using natural fine-grained sediments collected from the northern South China Sea as the host sediments,and empirical equations are developed based on the analyses of consolidation *** results show that vertical loading induces a reduction in void ratio,and the reduction increases with decreasing hydrate saturation when samples are subjected to the same vertical stress *** compression index of samples is about 0.53 whether there is hydrate or not,but the yield stress of samples increases sharply with increasing hydrate saturation once beyond the critical *** coefficient of volume compression and the coefficient of consolidation of hydrate-bearing samples both increase firstly and then decrease to a relative stable level with increasing vertical stress,and the transition occurs at 200 *** average consolidation degree with elapsed time increases rapidly under low vertical stresses,slowly under median vertical stresses,and under high vertical stresses,the consolidation increases a little faster but still slower than those under low vertical stresses.

Here,we characterize the temporal and spa.ial dynamics of forest community structure and species diversity in a subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest in *** found that community structure in this forest changed over a 15-year ***,renewal and death of common species was large,with the renewal of individuals mainly concentrated within a few populations,especially those of Aidia canthioides and Cryptocarya *** numbers of individual deaths for common species were concentrated in the small and mid-diameter *** spa.ial distribution of community species diversity fluctuated in each monitoring period,showing a more dispersed diversity after the 15-year study period,and the coefficient of variation on quadrats *** 2010,the death and renewal of the community and the spa.ial variation of species diversity were different compa.ed to other survey *** weather may have affected species regeneration and community stability in our subtropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved *** findings suggest that strengthening the monitoring and management of the forest community will help better understand the long-and short-term causes of dynamic fluctuations of community structure and species diversity,and reveal the factors that drive changes in community structure.

To predict the wave loads of a flexible trimaran in different wave fields,a one-way interaction numerical simulation method is proposed by integrating the fluid solver(Star-CCM+)and structural solver(Abaqus).Differing from the existing coupled CFD-FEA method for monohull ships in head waves,the presented method equates the mass and stiffness of the whole ship to the hull shell so that any transverse and longitudinal section stress of the hull in oblique waves can be ***,verification study and sensitivity analysis are carried out by compa.ing the trimaran motions using different mesh sizes and time step *** on the wave elevation of uni-and bi-directional waves is also carried *** a comprehensive analysis on the structural responses of the trimaran in different uni-directional regular wave and bi-directional cross sea conditions is carried out,***,the differences in structural response characteristics of trimaran in different wave fields are *** results show that the present method can reduce the computational burden of the two-way fluid-structure interaction simulations.

Microplastics(MPs)have become a significant concern for their potential ***,the correlation between the size of plastic pa.ticles and their toxicity remains ***,we investigate the toxic effects of different sizes(80 nm,800 nm,8μm and 80μm)polystyrene MPs(PS-MPs)on the model organism Nile tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus).The results of bioluminescent imaging indicate that the 80 nm PS-MPs are more likely to invade the body.H&E staining shows severe damage on the intestinal villi and distinct hepa.ic steatosis in the 80 nm *** U labeling shows that the proliferation activity of intestinal and liver cells reduces significantly in the 80 nm *** gut microbiome analysis shows a severe imbalance of gut microbiota homeostasis in the 80 nm *** analysis of liver transcriptomics and metabolomics shows that the liver lipid metabolism is disordered in the 80 nm *** conclusion,this study confirms that the 80 nm PS-MPs are more likely to induce intestinal and liver *** the above lay the foundation for further study on the pa.hological damage of MPs to other organisms.

BACKGROUND Acute cholecystitis(AC)is a common disease in general *** cholecystectomy(LC)is widely recognized as the"gold standard"surgical procedure for treating *** low-risk pa.ients without complications,LC is the recommended treatment plan,but there is still controversy regarding the treatment strategy for moderate AC pa.ients,which relies more on the surgeon's experience and the medical platform of the visiting *** transhepa.ic gallbladder puncture drainage(PTGBD)can effectively alleviate gallbladder inflammation,reduce gallbladder wall edema and adhesion around the gallbladder,and create a"time window"for elective *** To compa.e the clinical efficacy and safety of LC or PTGBD combined with LC for treating AC pa.ients,providing a theoretical basis for choosing reasonable surgical methods for AC *** In this study,we conducted a clinical investigation regarding the combined use of PTGBD tubes for the treatment of gastric cancer pa.ients with *** performed searches in the following databases:PubMed,Web of Science,EMBASE,Cochrane Library,China National Knowledge Infrastructure,and Wanfang *** search encompa.sed literature published from the inception of these databases to the ***,relevant data were extracted,and a meta-analysis was conducted using RevMan 5.3 *** A comprehensive analysis was conducted,encompa.sing 24 studies involving a total of 2564 *** pa.ients were categorized into two groups:1371 in the LC group and 1193 in the PTGBD+LC *** outcomes of the meta-analysis revealed noteworthy dispa.ities between the PTGBD+LC group and the LC group in multiple dimensions:(1)Operative time:Mean difference(MD)=17.51,95%CI:9.53-25.49,P<0.01;(2)Conversion to open surgery rate:Odds ratio(OR)=2.95,95%CI:1.90-4.58,P<0.01;(3)Intraoperative bleeding loss:MD=32.27,95%CI:23.03-41.50,P<0.01;(4)Postoperative hospital stay:MD=1.44,95%CI:0.14-2.73,P=0.03;(5)Overall posto

In-situ sludge reduction based on Mn^(2+)-catalytic ozonation conditioning:Feasibility study and microbial mechanisms

To improve the sludge conditioning efficiency without increasing the ozone dose,an in-situ sludge reduction process based on Mn^(2+)-catalytic ozonation conditioning was *** ozone conditioning alone as a control,a lab-scale sequencing batch reactor coupled with ozonated sludge recycle was evaluated for its operating performance at an ozone dose of 75 mg O_(3)/g VSS and 1.5 mmol/L Mn^(2+)*** results showed a 39.4%reduction in MLSS and an observed sludge yield of 0.236 kg MLSS/kg COD for the O_(3)+Mn^(2+)group compa.ed to the O_(3)group (15.3%and 0.292 kg MLSS/kg COD),accompa.ied by better COD,NH_(4)^(+)-N,TN and TP removal,improved effluent SS and limited impa.t on excess sludge ***,activity tests,BIOLOG ECO microplates and 16S rRNA sequencing were applied to elucidate the changing mechanisms of Mn^(2+)-catalytic ozonation related to microbial action:(1) Dehydrogenase activity reached a higher peak.(2) Microbial utilization of total carbon sources had an elevated effect,up to approximately 18%,and metabolic levels of six carbon sources were also increased,especially for sugars and amino acids most pronounced.(3) The abundance of Defluviicoccus under the phylum Proteobacteria was enhanced to 12.0%and dominated in the sludge,they had strong hydrolytic activity and metabolic *** bacteria of the genus Ferruginibacter also showed an abundance of 7.6%,they contributed to the solubilization and reduction of sludge *** results could guide researchers to further reduce ozonation conditioning costs,improve sludge management and provide theoretical support.
