Chasing in virtual environment:Dynamic alignment for multi-user collaborative redirected walking

Background The redirected walking (RDW) method for multi-user collaboration requires maintaining the relative position between users in a virtual environment (VE) and physical environment (PE). A chasing game in a VE is a typical virtual reality game that entails multi-user collaboration. When a user approaches and interacts with a target user in the VE, the user is expected to approach and interact with the target user in the corresponding PE as well. Existing methods of multi-user RDW mainly focus on obstacle avoidance, which does not account for the relative positional relationship between the users in both VE and PE. Methods To enhance the user experience and facilitate potential interaction, this paper presents a novel dynamic alignment algorithm for multi-user collaborative redirected walking (DA-RDW) in a shared PE where the target user and other users are moving. This algorithm adopts improved artificial potential fields, where the repulsive force is a function of the relative position and velocity of the user with respect to dynamic obstacles. For the best alignment, this algorithm sets the alignment-guidance force in several cases and then converts it into a constrained optimization problem to obtain the optimal direction. Moreover, this algorithm introduces a potential interaction object selection strategy for a dynamically uncertain environment to speed up the subsequent alignment. To balance obstacle avoidance and alignment, this algorithm uses the dynamic weightings of the virtual and physical distances between users and the target to determine the resultant force vector. Results The efficacy of the proposed method was evaluated using a series of simulations and live-user experiments. The experimental results demonstrate that our novel dynamic alignment method for multi-user collaborative redirected walking can reduce the distance error in both VE and PE to improve alignment with fewer collisions.

Two-dimensional transition metal trithiophosphates(TMPS_(3),TM=Mn,Fe,Co,etc.)are competitive anode materials for sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)due to their high theoretical capacity(>1,300 mAh g^(−1))but suffer from limited practical capacity(~300 mAh g^(−1))and inferior rate capability caused by sluggish Na+intercalation/deintercalation kinetics and severe structural ***,alkylamine molecules are first proposed as intercalation guests to significantly boost the electrochemical activity and stability of MnPS_(3).Compared to MnPS_(3),C3H9N-MnPS_(3) enlarges the interlayer spacing from 6.48 to 10.23Åand shows a 105 times higher electrical conductivity,which provides fast ion/electron transport and high strain adaptability,realizing a quasi-topological Na+intercalation ***,C3H9N-MnPS_(3) exhibits an ultrahigh reversible capacity of 775 mAh g^(−1) at 0.5 A g^(−1) and superior high-rate cycling stability with~100%capacity retention after 2,500 cycles at 15 A g^(−1),ranking it among the top metal trithiophosphate-based anode materials *** calculations indicate that the improved sodium storage performance of C3H9N-MnPS_(3) results from the reduced bonding energy of P–S bonds and increased adsorption energy of Na^(+).This work is expected to provide an efficient strategy for the design of high-performance layered anode materials for SIBs.

Micro-strain regulation strategy to stabilize perovskite lattice based on the categories and impact of strain on perovskite solar cells

Photovoltaic metal halide perovskite solar cells(PSCs) convert light to electricity more efficiently than crystalline silicon cells, and the cost of materials used to make them is lower than that of silicon *** efficiency is not a core issue affecting the application of perovskite solar cells in special *** present, stability is the major technical encounters that hinders its further commercial development. Microstrain in PSCs is currently a significant factor responsible for the device's instability. Strain-induced ion migration is widely believed to accelerate perovskite degradation even when external stimuli are ***, it is imperative to study strain to enhance the stability of PSCs. This paper reviews recent developments to understand strain's origin and effect mechanisms on performance of PSCs, including ion migration,failure behavior, defect formation, and its effect on photoelectric properties, stability, and ***, several well-known strain management strategies are systematically introduced based on the strain effect mechanism and strain engineering on the film, providing more clues for further preparation with increased stability. The manipulation of external physical strain applied from films to entire devices has been extensively studied. Furthermore, recommendations for future research directions and chemical approaches have been provided. It is emphasized that strain engineering plays a crucial role in improving the efficiency and longevity of PSCs. Tensile strain causes rapid degradation, while moderate compressive strain and external strain control could improve properties and stability. Efforts should focus on controlling compressive strain to mitigate residual tensile strain and introducing it in a controlled manner. Future research endeavors may focus on exploring these pathways to improve the efficiency and lifespan of PSCs.

Prediction of specific spoilage organisms in smoked chicken legs with modified atmosphere packaging at 4℃ using multivariate statistical analysis

The present study monitored bacterial succession,physicochemical properties,and volatile organic compounds(VOCs)changes in smoked chicken legs with modified atmosphere packaging(MAP,60% CO_(2) and 40%N_(2))during a 25-day storage period at 4℃.After 15 days of storage,S erratia proteamaculans and Pseudomonas fragi became the predominant ***,physicochemical properties changed significantly,as evidenced by an increase in thiobarbituric acid reactive substances and b*(yellowness)value,and a decrease in hardness.A total of 65 VOCs were identified during *** between bacterial succession and quality indicators(including VOCs and physicochemical properties)allowed the identification of 26 core dominant bacteria,including ***,Psychrobacter alimentarius,Pseudomonas putida,and Pseudomonas poae,which were positively related to spoilage VOCs(e.g.,1-octen-3-ol,1-pentanol,and 3-methyl-1-butanol)and could be defined as specific spoilage organisms(SSOs).The results of this study provide a systematic approach to predict SSOs in smoked chicken legs during storage,which can also provide a basis for product safety.

Medium Modifications of Heavy-Flavor Jet Angularities in High-Energy Nuclear Collisions

We present the first theoretical study on heavy-flavor jet angularities(λ_(α)^(κ))in Pb+Pb collisions at√SNN=5.02 Te *** initial production of heavy-flavor jets was carried out using the POWHEG+PYTHIA8 *** contrast,the SHELL transport model describes jet evolution in the quark-gluon plasma(QGP).In p+p collisions,we observed narrower angularity distributions for D ^(0)-tagged jets than for inclusive jets,consistent with the ALICE preliminary *** then demonstrate that jet quenching in the QGP slightly widens the angularity distribution of D ^(0)-tagged jets in Pb+Pb collisions relative to that in p+p collisions for a jet transverse momentum of 1020 Ge V/c because of the strong influence of selection ***,by comparing the average angularitiesof the inclusive,D ^(0)-tagged,and B ^(0)-tagged jets with varyingαandκ,we show that the larger the quark mass,the lower the jet’svalues *** a result of the slenderer initial distribution,we predict that compared with inclusive jets,heavy-flavor jets,especially B~0-tagged ones,will suffer stronger modifications ofin Pb+Pb relative to p+p at 10

Pretreatment red blood cell distribution width as a predictive marker for postoperative complications after laparoscopic pancreatoduodenectomy

A dopant-assisted iodide-adduct chemical ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometer based on VUV lamp photoionization for atmospheric low-molecular-weight organic acids analysis

Formic and acetic acids are the most abundant gaseous organic acids and play the key role in the atmospheric *** iodine-adduct chemical ionizationmass spectrometry(CIMS),the low utilization efficiency of methyl iodide and humidity interference are two major issues of the vacuum ultraviolet(VUV)lamp initiated CIMS for on-line gaseous formic and acetic acids *** this work,we present a new CIMS based on VUV lamp,and the ion-molecular reactor is separated into photoionization and chemical ionization zones by a reducer *** was added to the photoionization zone,and the VUV photoionization acetone provided low-energy electrons for methyl iodide to generate I−,and the addition of acetone reduced the amount of methyl iodide by 2/*** the chemical ionization zone,a headspace vial containing ultrapure water was added for humidity calibration,and the vial changes the sensitivity as a function of humidity from ambiguity to well linear correlation(R2>0.95).With humidity calibration,the CIMS can quantitatively measure formic and acetic acids in the humidity range of 0%-88%*** this mode,limits of detection of 10 and 50 pptv are obtained for formic and acetic acids,*** the relative standard deviation(RSD)of quantitation stability for 6 days were less than 10.5%.This CIMS was successfully used to determine the formic and acetic acids in the underground parking and ambient environment of the Shandong University campus(Qingdao,China).In addition,we developed a simple model based formic acid concentration to assess vehicular emissions.

BACKGROUND Bone is a major site of metastasis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).Recently,nuclear factor kappa-beta ligand(RANKL)inhibitors have garnered attention for their ability to inhibit osteoclast formation and bone resorption,as well as their potential to modulate immune functions and thereby enhance the efficacy of programmed cell death protein 1(PD-1)inhibitor *** SUMMARY We present a case of a patient with NPC who developed sternal stalk metastasis and multiple bone metastases with soft tissue invasion following radical chemoradiotherapy and targeted *** to chemotherapy,the patient experienced severe bone marrow suppression and opted out of further chemotherapy ***,the patient received combination therapy,including RANKL inhibitors(denosumab)alongside PD-1,radiotherapy,and granulocyte-macrophage colonystimulating factor(PRaG)therapy(NCT05435768),and achieved 16 months of progression-free survival and more than 35 months of overall survival,without encountering any grade 2 or higher treatment-related adverse *** Denosumab combined with PRaG therapy could be a new therapeutic approach for the second-line treatment in patients with bone metastases.

Extraction of gravel characteristics and spatial inversion for ecological restoration monitoring in the Northern Tibetan Plateau

Previous studies have often focused on monitoring grassland growth as the primary target of remote sensing investigations on grassland ecological restoration in the northern Tibetan Plateau,overlooking the crucial role played by gravel in the ecological restoration of these *** study utilizes supervised classification and segmentation techniques based on machine learning to extract gravel morphology profiles from field-sampled plot images and calculate their characteristic *** a multivariate linear approach combined with Principal Component Analysis(PCA),a model for inferring gravel characteristic parameters is *** features,particle size characteristics,and spatial distribution patterns of gravel are *** reveal that gravel predominantly exhibit sub-rounded shapes,with 80%classified as fine *** coefficients of determination(R2)between gravel particle size and coverage,perimeter,and area are 0.444,0.724,and 0.557,respectively,indicating linear *** cumulative contribution rate of the top five remote sensing factors is 95.44%,with the first geological factor contributing 77.64%,collectively reflecting the primary information of the 20 factors *** shows that areas with larger gravel particle sizes correspond to increased perimeter and *** in the Nagqu Prefecture of northern Tibet have a particle size range of 4-8 mm,primarily comprising fine gravel which accounts for 94.61%.These findings provide a scientific basis for extracting gravel characteristic parameters and understanding their spatial distribution variations in the northern Tibetan Plateau.
