The safety of nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems(DDSs)for cancer treatment is still a challenge,restricted by the intrinsic cytotoxicity of drug carriers and leakage of loaded drug.Here,we propose a novel nanocarrier’s cytotoxicity avoidance strategy by synthesizing an encapsulation core–shell structure of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8(ZIF-8)-based colloid particles(CPs)with an amorphous ZIF-8 skin.This encapsulation structure achieves an ultra-high loading rate(LR)of 90%(i.e.,9 mg doxorubicin(DOX)per 1 mg ZIF-8)for DOX and the protection of DOX from leaking.Notably,to deliver unit-dose drug,this ultra-high LR of 90%significantly reduces the usage of ZIF-8 to 1.2%(2 orders of magnitude)compared to that of DOX@ZIF-8 with a 10%LR,in which cytotoxicity of ZIF-8 could well below the safety limit and then be relatively ignored.Safety,drug delivery efficacy,scale-up ability,and universality of this encapsulation structure have been further verified.Our findings suggest the great potential of this ZIF-8-based encapsulation core–shell structure in the field of drug delivery.

Chip seal is widely used for preventive maintenance to mitigate pavement deterioration,but it is prone to aggregate loss during pavement service. To further promote the development and application of chip seals in road engineering in China, the research progress of the adhesion behavior of aggregate and binder in chip seals was reviewed in this paper,focusing on the adhesion mechanism of emulsified asphalt and alkaline aggregate. The Influencing factors and evaluation methodology of chip seals' aggregate adhesion behavior were also discussed. The results demonstrate that the adhesion process between emulsified asphalt and alkaline aggregate is divided into three processes including infiltration,demulsification, and cluster, which is more complicated when compared to hot asphalt.When designing a chip seal, not only the characteristics of single material should be paid attention to, but also the combination of binder and aggregate matters a lot. To form good adhesion between aggregate and asphalt binder, various influencing factors such as material selection, design method, and construction technical index should be considered comprehensively in the whole design, construction, and operation process. Three methods for evaluating adhesion behavior are summarized, including macroscopic adhesion performance tests, image analysis technology, and model prediction. It is not objective to evaluate the aggregate adhesion behavior of chip seal only by a single evaluation method.A comprehensive evaluation based on the micro-macro multi-scale method should be considered in the future.

With the ever-growing semiconductor and microchip industries,increasing amount and categories of personal electronics have flooded into our daily life.Overheating is the key challenge limiting further performance enhancement of the high-speed microchips in electronics.Thermoelectric cooling,a solid-state active cooling method,possesses great potential for localized cooling with the advantages of noise-free,vibration-free,maintenance-free,and liquid-media-free,and can solve the challenge in microchips.By proper material engineering,such as carrier concentration,band engineering,hierarchical architecture engineering,high performance thermoelectric materials with high potential for thermoelectric cooling have been widely developed.Through further proper device design based on state-of-art thermoelectric materials,such as vertical thin film thermoelectric device design,contact interface engineering and thermoelectric and microchip integration,thermoelectric coolers show infinite potentials for finite cooling requirement of microchips.

Iridovirus poses a substantial threat to global aquaculture due to its high mortality rate;however,the molecular mechanisms underpinning its pathogenesis are not well elucidated.Here,a multi-omics approach was applied to groupers infected with Singapore grouper iridovirus(SGIV),focusing on the roles of key metabolites.Results showed that SGIV induced obvious histopathological damage and changes in metabolic enzymes within the liver.Furthermore,SGIV significantly reduced the contents of lipid droplets,triglycerides,cholesterol,and lipoproteins.Metabolomic analysis indicated that the altered metabolites were enriched in 19 pathways,with a notable down-regulation of lipid metabolites such as glycerophosphates and alpha-linolenic acid(ALA),consistent with disturbed lipid homeostasis in the liver.Integration of transcriptomic and metabolomic data revealed that the top enriched pathways were related to cell growth and death and nucleotide,carbohydrate,amino acid,and lipid metabolism,supporting the conclusion that SGIV infection induced liver metabolic reprogramming.Further integrative transcriptomic and proteomic analysis indicated that SGIV infection activated crucial molecular events in a phagosome-immune depression-metabolism dysregulation-necrosis signaling cascade.Of note,integrative multi-omics analysis demonstrated the consumption of ALA and linoleic acid(LA)metabolites,and the accumulation of L-glutamic acid(GA),accompanied by alterations in immune,inflammation,and cell death-related genes.Further experimental data showed that ALA,but not GA,suppressed SGIV replication by activating antioxidant and anti-inflammatory responses in the host.Collectively,these findings provide a comprehensive resource for understanding host response dynamics during fish iridovirus infection and highlight the antiviral potential of ALA in the prevention and treatment of iridoviral diseases.

As typical metalloid toxic elements widely distributed in environmental media,the geochemical behaviour of antimony(Sb)and arsenic(As)affects environmental safety.We selected the surface waters and sediments at the river-lake junction of Dongting Lake as the research objects,analysed the concentration and chemical partitioning of Sb and As,assessed its contamination and ecological risk levels,and discussed its sources and potential influencing factors.The concentrations of dissolved Sb and As in surface waters were low(diments were 2.49-22.65mg/kg and 11.10-136.34 mg/kg,respectively.Antimony and As in sediments were mainly enriched in the fraction of residues,but the proportion of As in bioavailability was significantly higher than that of Sb.Although the contamination level of Sb was higher than that of As,the risk assessment code(RAC)showed that the ecological risk level of As was higher than that of Sb.Rainwater erosion and mining activities(in the midstream of Zijiang River)were the main contaminated sources of Sb,while As was affect mainly by rainwater erosion.The contamination and ecological risk of Sb in the inlet of the Zijiang River should receive considerable attention,while those of As in the inlet of the Xiangjiang River should also be seriously considered.This study highlights the need for multi-index-based assessments of contamination and ecological risk and the importance of further studies on the environmental behaviour of metalloids in specific hydrological conditions,such as river-lake junctions.

This study aims to improve the accuracy and speed of predictions for thermal comfort and air quality in built environments by creating a coupled framework between computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations and deep learning models.The coupling approach is showcased by the development of a data-driven turbulence model.The new turbulence model is built using a deep learning neural network,whose mapping structure is based on a zero-equation turbulence model for built environment simulations,and is coupled with the CFD software OpenFOAM to create a hybrid framework.The neural network is a standard shallow multi-layer perceptron.The number of hidden layers and nodes per layer was optimized using Bayesan optimization algorithm.The framework is trained on an indoor environment case study,as well as tested on an indoor office simulation and an outdoor building array simulation.Results show that the deep learning based turbulence model is more robust and faster than traditional two-equation Reynolds average Navier-Stokes(RANS)turbulence models,while maintaining a similar level of accuracy.The model also outperforms the standard algebraic zero-equation model due to its superior ability to generalize to various flow scenarios.Despite some challenges,namely the mapping constraint,the limited training dataset size and the source of generation of training data,the hybrid framework demonstrates the viability of the coupling technique and serves as a starting point for future development of more reliable and advanced models.

Social dysfunction is a risk factor for several neuropsychiatric illnesses.Previous studies have shown that the lateral septum(LS)-related pathway plays a critical role in mediating social behaviors.Howeve r,the role of the connections between the LS and its downstream brain regions in social behavio rs remains unclea r.In this study,we conducted a three-chamber test using electrophysiological and chemogenetic approaches in mice to determine how LS projections to ventral CA1(vCA1)influence sociability.Our res ults showed that gamma-aminobutyric acid(GABA)-e rgic neuro ns were activated following social experience,and that social behavio rs were enhanced by chemogenetic modulation of these neurons.Moreover,LS GABAergic neurons extended their functional neural connections via vCA1 glutamatergic pyramidal neurons,and regulating LSGABA→vCA1Gluneural projections affected social behaviors,which were impeded by suppressing LSprojecting vCA1 neuronal activity or inhibiting GABAAreceptors in vCA1.These findings support the hypothesis that LS inputs to the vCA1 can control social prefe rences and social novelty behaviors.These findings provide new insights rega rding the neural circuits that regulate sociability.

Dynamic simulation plays a fundamental role in security evaluation of distribution networks(DNs).However,the strong stiffness and non-linearity of distributed generation(DG)models in DNs bring about burdensome computation and noteworthy instability on traditional methods which hampers the rapid response of simulation tool.Thus,a novel L-stable approximate analytical method with high accuracy is proposed to handle these problems.The method referred to as multistage discontinuous Galerkin method(MDGM),first derives approximate analytical solutions(AASs)of state variables which are explicit symbolic expressions concerning system states.Then,in each time window,it substitutes values for symbolic variables and trajectories of state variables are obtained subsequently.This paper applies MDGM to DG models to derive AASs.Local-truncation-error-based variable step size strategy is also developed to further improve simulation efficiency.In addition,this paper establishes detailed MDGM-based dynamic simulation procedure.From case studies on a numerical problem,a modified 33-bus system and a practical large-scale DN,it can be seen that proposed method demonstrates fast and dependable performance compared with the traditional trapezoidal method.

With the development of artificial intelligence,neural network provides unique opportunities for holography,such as high fidelity and dynamic calculation.How to obtain real 3D scene and generate high fidelity hologram in real time is an urgent problem.Here,we propose a liquid lens based holographic camera for real 3D scene hologram acquisition using an end-to-end physical model-driven network(EEPMD-Net).As the core component of the liquid camera,the first 10 mm large aperture electrowetting-based liquid lens is proposed by using specially fabricated solution.The design of the liquid camera ensures that the multi-layers of the real 3D scene can be obtained quickly and with great imaging performance.The EEPMD-Net takes the information of real 3D scene as the input,and uses two new structures of encoder and decoder networks to realize low-noise phase generation.By comparing the intensity information between the reconstructed image after depth fusion and the target scene,the composite loss function is constructed for phase optimization,and the high-fidelity training of hologram with true depth of the 3D scene is realized for the first time.The holographic camera achieves the high-fidelity and fast generation of the hologram of the real 3D scene,and the reconstructed experiment proves that the holographic image has the advantage of low noise.The proposed holographic camera is unique and can be used in 3D display,measurement,encryption and other fields.
